HOORAY! -- A Thursday without Buzz & Nadine.

Marler home--
Ross comes home after looking for Blake and is about to call the
police when she arrives and explains her trip to the bank. They look at
the videotape and see "Howie" making the transaction. Ross notices that
he's chewing gum, "I never chew gum!-- I don't know who this guy is,
unless I had a blackout like Ed." Blake also notices that the guy on
the video isn't wearing a wedding ring, and Ross says he can't get his
off. "This guy is an imposter". They figure out that Alan did it to get
Blake to sign over his assets.
They watch the video again and Ross says "The more I look at this guy,
the more I realize how superficial the resemblence is between us." He's
seriously middle-age, his hair line is heading north, he's hiding a
little pot belly. Anyone who sees this tape is not going to believe that
they gave 1.4 million dollars to this man thinking it was Ross. While
Ross is saying all this Blake is smirking, looks at Ross's hairline and
pats his tummy while nodding her head.

Spaulding mansion--
Alex has been drinking and talks to Ginger about siblings. Ginger
asks Alex if she's lonely and if she wants to play gin rummy, chutes &
ladders during the night, she should buzz her buzzer. Alex starts
looking at family pictures and continues to drink. She dreams that
Fletcher comes back to her but the phone rings and he says that business
will always come first for her.

Alex is now in bed and gets a phone call from Nick telling her he's
as far away from her as he can get -- on the other side of the world with
Melinda and their children. She's sorry she pushed so hard, come back
and give her another chance. Not in a million years, says Nick. Alex
wakes up.
An old Alex in bed is talking to Alan-Michael. "How long
has it been since I've seen you?"--Alex. A-M replies, "25 years, since my
father died." We used to be so close. "When you chose Nick over me and
hounded my father to his grave." Alex was devastated to find out Alan was
sick & has been lost without him. She wants to leave Spaulding to A-M in
Alan's honor. A-M says he doesn't need her handouts, why don't you give
it to Nick-- if you can find him. "Don't be cruel--your father would
have forgiven me, sometimes I think he was the only person who really
loved me." The present day Alex says "Don't leave me Alan. I have
nobody left."

Newspaper--
A-M wants to talk to Fletcher about Tangie's job. He thinks she's
too smart to be working in personals, she wrote a first rate article
about his father. Tangie says she is capable of speaking up for herself
if she needs to. A-M thinks that as a co-owner he should have a say in
the job Tangie does. Tangie interupts and tells him she doesn't like how
he's decided what's good for her. A-M: "I'm giving you a high-profile
position that a lot of people would kill for, plus more money." Tangie:
"I find your attitude insulting". She won't talk to him about it and
tells him to "stop flapping your lips". He retaliates by unplugging her
computer and Fletch's. Fletch, trying to finish his editorial about Ed,
stands up and yells, "You are dog meat, Dark Prince!"
A-M apologizes to Fletch and says everyone is allowed to be a jerk
sometimes. Fletch: "There are times & places where you are not allowed
to be a jerk." He would like to buy him out to get rid of him. A-M
starts yelling that the whole place would fall apart if he left-- he pays
the bills, the salaries, he sees that advertisors don't leave, he orders
equipment. Tangie has heard enough and leaves. A-M catches up to her in
the elevator and stops it between floors.
A-M tells Tangie that he's trying to show how highly he thinks of
her & admires her. She calls it control and she's been there before.
A-M: "you're too young to be so worldly." If she thinks he's another guy
with an ego problem, he'll leave. She stops him and answers the phone.
She tells security that they're sorry for stopping the elevator, but they're
dealing with a personal issue. She tells A-M that she doesn't want to be
rescued, she like making her own decisions and paying her own way. She
couldn't believe how pushy he was. A-M asks how she would have felt if
Holly or Fletcher was trying to move her up. Tangie would have felt
ticked off if there were strings attached. A-M asks if she thought his
help had strings attached. "How do you see me?" He knows what he is not,
but doesn't know who & what he is supposed to be. At the boat house he
felt he had a clean slate-- he knew who he was & felt great and that's
partly why Tangie means so much to him. Ever since then he's tried to
hold on to that feeling, but it's slipping away. Tangie: "Like a
dream? Maybe that's for the best." A-M asks if he's supposed to forget
about the boathouse. No, forget about an idealized version of what I
am-- an angel of mercy who stands on the beach with wind blowing her hair
and reciting poetry. She doesn't have time to wash her hair, she's busy
with two jobs. She doesn't wnat to be his fantasy, and thinks he'll like the
real her better. A-M starts the elevator and asks if she'll go on a date
with him tomorrow.

Lewis house--
Mindy's crying as Bill brings in her luggage, but she won't tell him
what's wrong. Vanessa is on the phone trying to call Matt, when Nick
pounds on the front door wanting to talk to Melinda. Vanessa won't let
him in, but he won't let her close the door. He tries to get in and says
that they won't get back together if Vanessa keeps telling Mindy how
much he's changed. "I haven't suddenly become some unscrupulous,
power-hungry maniac". {Oh yes he has} "I was like a babe-in-the-woods
when it came to my mother and Alan warring with each other." He admits
that he made terrible choices of judgement & convinced himself it was a
harmless means to an end. Vanessa: "You wouldn't be talking like this if
the manipulations had worked." {Way to go Vanessa}
Bill comes and tells Nick to leave. Nick tells Bill he's Melinda's
husband & "would never do anything to hurt her". She's upstairs crying
and she doesn't want to see him. Nick-- I'm coming in so get outta my
way. Hamp arrives and escorts him out the door and tells him he doesn't
want to fight, but he's standing in for a friend and protecting his
kids. Nick: "My wife doesn't need protection from me!" Hamps says Mindy
has taken enough from the Spauldings, she came home to get away from
you. Mindy comes down and agrees to talk to Nick for 5 minutes.
He tells her he loves her-- she's the center of his life and he
regrets the pain he's caused her. "What do I need to do to save our
marriage--give up Spaulding?" Mindy asks if she ever asked him to give
up anything for her. NO, that's one of the reasons he loves her. Does
she still love him? Yes, she does. He thinks they can get through this
since loving each other is all that counts. Mindy says it's easy to love
someone when you think you'll lose them. She'll never understand why he
did it. Nick asks how he can make her believe there's nothing he wants
more than he wants her. Mindy: There's nothing he can do because you had
me and it wasn't enough and you saw how much I loved you and how much I
was suffering and you turned your back on me. After using me to get to
my family. There's something inside of you that wants the Spaulding life
more than you want me. So you got it-- you got exactly what you
wanted." She leaves. Nick yells at her window "You're wrong-- you're
more important than Spaulding & I'm going to prove it."

Bauer home--
Lillian brings his letter of resignation and Ed tells her she
doesn't have the right to mess with his life. She should respect his
decision. Lillian says he shouldn't convict himself since he doesn't
remember what happened. She wants him to stay in his job since no one
asked him to resign and he could help people. He interfered in her life
when she had breast cancer, so she's going to interfere in his life now.
"Your life's work is healing, so if there's one chance in a million that
you didn't hit Dylan, all those people you could help-- it would be wrong
if you didn't help them."
