JESSUP FARMHOUSE: Dinah enters with an armload of Hart's stuff, which
she proceeds to dump all over his still-sleeping form. She tells him
not to come to her apartment, because she's changed the locks. Hart
wakes up & asks, "What is this?" Dinah replies that it's trash & he
should toss it out, just like he did with their relationship. She's
gone before he even realizes what's going on.

LEWIS OIL CONVENTION: One of the Lewis clients recognizes Cassie from
the strip club in Chicago. Cassie says he must be mistaken. Josh comes
over to see how Cassie's doing. The client says Josh has hired a fine
stripper.

REVA'S HOUSE: Tammy plays with Cassie's cameo. Marah notices it & says
it's pretty. Tammy says it's the only thing she has of her mom's.
Tammy misses her mom & says she wants to find her. Marah says she
could help more if Tammy would tell her her real name. Tammy insists
that her name is Madonna. Marah says everything will work out. Tammy
says her mom said they were going far away. Marah says her mom will be
home soon & will know what to do.

COURTHOUSE HALLWAY: From what Paulson has told her, Reva realizes that
Cassie is the mole at Lewis Oil. Paulson insists he had no idea why
Alan wanted Cassie in the executive suite & she can't blame him. Reva
tells Paulson to get lost, then vows that Cassie will regret her
efforts to hurt Reva's family.

COURTROOM: Ben gets Rick to say that he found Jesse standing over
Abby's unconscious body. Rick points out that Jesse lives there.
Michelle stands up & says that Jesse found Abby, but that doesn't mean
he hurt her. The judge tells Michelle to keep quiet unless she's
testifying. Ben asks whether Rick found Jesse gripping Abby's
shoulders. Roy turns toward Abby & mouths something to her behind his
hand. Distressed, Abby turns away from him.

Ben rephrases his question. Rick replies that Abby picked Roy out of
the lineup, but finally answers that yes, he found Jesse standing over
Abby. Ben asks to be allowed to defend his client without Rick's
efforts to sabotage him. Ross objects that Ben is badgering &
speechifying. Ben apologizes & says he's just trying to get at the
truth. Ben establishes that Rick did at first accuse Jesse of
attacking Abby & had him arrested. Rick doesn't answer. He finally
says that Ben doesn't give a damn about the truth. [This is stupid. If
Ross was any good at his job, he would have covered this when he
questioned Rick, so that Ben wouldn't have been able to make it look
like Rick was hiding something.]

CONVENTION: Josh pulls Cassie away from the horny client & asks what
the guy is talking about. Cassie says she doesn't know; he's pretty
drunk & she was just trying to handle him gracefully. The client calls
over that Cassie should help "bump" up the Lewis stock. Josh smiles
back at him & then promises Cassie that he'll try to straighten things
out. He goes over to the client & says Cassie isn't who he thinks she
is. The client is sure he recognizes her.

Billy enters & asks Cassie what's going on. Cassie says Josh was just
helping her out of an awkward situation. Billy wishes he was the one
helping her out. Wanda comes in with a phone call from Reva. Billy
takes the phone into the hall. Reva tells him that Cassie is not what
she seems. Billy is tired of this garbage. Reva says she knows it's
hard, but he has to hear it. Billy says if she says anything more
about Cassie, he's hanging up. Reva starts to say that Cassie is the
mole, but Billy keeps his word & closes the phone.

COURTROOM: Rick argues that the trial is just a game to Ben. The judge
tells Rick to stop before she holds him in contempt. Rick apologizes.
Ben insists that he's there to get at the truth of what happened. He
asks how Rick felt when he found Abby. Rick was scared. When he found
Jesse standing over Abby, he told Jesse to get out of the way. He
later found out that Jesse was with Michelle when the attack happened.
Ben establishes that Jesse is Michelle's boyfriend, & Rick still
thought he was capable of the attack. Rick says he was mistaken. Ben
adds that Abby couldn't remember who attacked her at first, & that
Michelle gave Jesse his only alibi. Ben says Rick wants somebody to
pay, & after Jesse was released from jail, Rick decided that somebody
should be Roy. Rick yells that Roy did it. Ben is done with Rick.

Ross redirects. He asks why Rick had Jesse arrested. Rick explains how
he found Abby & jumped to conclusions. He realized later that he had
made a terrible mistake. Ross asks whether Abby knows what happened to
her that night. Ben objects that Rick can't testify to what Abby
thinks or knows. Rick says there's no doubt that Roy attacked Abby.
Ross is done & Rick steps down. The judge calls a short recess.

Michelle complains to Jesse that Ben is twisting everything around.
Jesse says the jury's eyes show that they're in doubt. Michelle has
faith that Ross will turn it around. Michelle says if Jesse testifies,
he would make them see the truth. Jesse says he's thought about it but
can't risk that Roy's friends will hurt Michelle. Michelle says they
owe it to Abby because they're both partly to blame for what happened
to her. Michelle says Jesse has to testify.

FARMHOUSE: Hart follows Dinah outside, very confused. The last thing
he remembers is drinking coffee with Cassie. Dinah says he was
muttering about her in his sleep. Hart realizes Cassie drugged him. He
wants to go after her, but then realizes she stole his keys & his car.
Dinah can't believe Hart wants to rescue Cassie after what she did to
him. Hart says he has to stop her from doing something she'll regret
for the rest of her life. He asks to use Dinah's car. She reminds him
that he dumped her & she's not about to help him find Cassie.

CONVENTION: Billy returns & Cassie asks what's wrong with Reva. Billy
says she's a pain, trying to warn him away from Cassie. Cassie asks
what Reva said. Billy says he knows in his heart what kind of person
Cassie is. Wanda comes by & says the Japanese contingent needs Billy.

Cassie gets a couple of glasses of champagne, then takes one aside &
slips a mickey in it. Josh comes over & she hands him the glass, then
stands up in front of the crowd & proposes a toast to the entire Lewis
family. Josh drinks, then looks at his half-empty glass.

COURTHOUSE HALLWAY: Reva asks Abby how it's going. Abby sighs. Reva
assures her it will be fine. She apologizes for having to leave for a
little while to take care of some trouble at Lewis Oil. She promises
to be back soon & says she loves Abby. Reva takes off.

In the elevator, her cell phone rings. It's Marah. She explains about
the little girl she found in the park & says she brought the girl
home. Reva asks if she called the police. Marah says no & adds that
she can't get the girl's real name. Reva says Marah did the right
thing & she'll be there soon to straighten things out.

Rick apologizes to Abby for losing it on the stand. Abby says he
shouldn't blame himself.

Lillian approaches Fletcher & asks how it's going. Fletch doesn't
think it's too great so far. She asks how Ed seems; she thinks he's
been too quiet lately. Fletch would rather talk about his precious
Meg. Lillian wanders off & Holly stops by & teases Fletch about
hanging out with Lillian. They draw a comparison to Roger & Holly.

Phillip tells Harley how angry he is over the way Ben is handling the
case. Harley agrees. Phillip says Ben is the kind of lawyer the jokes
are written about. Harley says there's still plenty of testimony to
go, especially Abby's.

COURTROOM: Michelle & Jesse approach Ross about testifying, but Ross
is against it. He says he's given it a lot of thought, but he will
only put Jesse on the stand as a last resort because he doesn't want
Ben to discredit Jesse. Jesse says he can handle Ben. He feels
personally responsible for what happened to Abby. Abby thinks maybe it
would be a good idea. Ross says Jesse has to keep his cool. Jesse says
he'll answer the questions & that's all. Ross says OK.

COURTHOUSE HALLWAY: Harley & Phillip share a short kiss. Lillian
notices them. Phillip spots Rick & heads over. Rick berates himself
for the way he reacted on the stand. Phillip wonders why a high-priced
lawyer would want to come to Springfield to take a case like this.
Rick just knows that Ben is an old friend of Ross's. Phillip suggests
that he & Harley dig up a little info on Ben.

COURTROOM: Court is back in session. Ross calls Jesse to the stand.
Roy gives him a look, then shakes his head.

FARMHOUSE: Hart & Dinah go back inside. Hart says he has to get going
because people's lives are involved. Dinah thinks he's overdramatizing
& wants details. Hart won't name names, but says that the people who
have Cassie's daughter want her to sleep with someone. Dinah isn't
sympathetic. She thinks Hart can't stand the thought of Cassie
sleeping with someone else. Hart insists there never was & never will
be anything between him & Cassie.

Dinah says she came over earlier to try to apologize & make up. Now
Hart has to make a choice between her & Cassie. She holds out her
keys, but says if he takes them, it's over between them.

CONVENTION: Josh talks with some clients, then makes a face like he's
got a funny taste in his mouth. Cassie comes over to see how things
are going. She asks if he's feeling OK, since his big speech is coming
up. Josh says it feels very warm. Cassie says he needs to lie down
because he looks very pale & people can't see him looking this way. As
they walk down the hall, Josh argues that he can't leave this way. As
Cassie unlocks her door, Josh leans against the wall & complains again
that it's very hot. Cassie opens the door & says everything will be
OK, as she leads him into her room.

COURTROOM: After being sworn in, Jesse takes the stand, throwing a
smile in Michelle's direction. Ross quickly establishes that Jesse has
been in court many times before, for all manner of petty crimes. Jesse
says he has nothing to hide. He grew up in a tough neighborhood, where
you fight for what you have & then you fight to keep it. He says he
didn't even know how to read, because he didn't go to school for long
enough. But now he's learned to read & has turned his life around.

Ross asks about the night Abby was attacked. Jesse says he could tell
something was wrong as soon as he came home. The door was wide open.
At first he thought he had been burglarized, but then he saw a tarp
rolled up in the wrong place. That's when he found Abby. At first he
was in shock, then he checked to see how badly she was hurt. Then Rick
arrived, yelled at Jesse, and checked Abby himself. Jesse called 911 &
told them what Rick said to say. The paramedics showed up & took Abby
to the hospital.

Ross asks why Rick yelled at Jesse. Jesse guesses that Rick thought
Jesse was responsible. He doesn't blame Rick for jumping to that
conclusion, considering how it looked. Ross asks if Jesse knows Roy.
Jesse says yes, & figures his testifying is Roy's worst nightmare. Ben
objects & the judge tells Jesse to answer the questions without
editorializing. Jesse says he & Roy grew up in the same neighborhood.
They had a "code of honor" that says you keep your mouth shut when one
of your homies is in trouble. Ross establishes that Jesse is taking a
substantial risk by testifying. Jesse says he has been threatened. Ben
objects, but Jesse adds that he had a rock thrown through his window
with a note threatening Michelle. The judge tells the jury to
disregard Jesse's last statement.

Ross asks if anything happened on the day Roy was released. Jesse
tells about the guys from the neighborhood warning him not to say
anything he knew about what happened with Roy & Abby. But he's not
keeping his mouth shut. To Roy, he adds: "You ain't gonna walk." Ross
thanks Jesse & turns him over to Ben. Ben asks for a moment to check
his notes.

Marcus tells Michelle it took a lot for Jesse to go up on the stand.
Ed agrees. He's proud, but worried. Harley & Phillip agree that
Jesse's testimony was very helpful.

Ben greets Jesse & begins his cross-examination. He thinks it will
take an awful lot for Jesse to turn his life around. Ross objects & is
sustained. Ben notes that Jesse has been on probation & broke his
probation several times, & only learned how to read to stay out of
jail. Ben says Jesse has no respect for the law. Jesse says he has no
reason to lie. Ben says Jesse has a very good reason to lie. He
accuses Jesse of attacking Abby himself. He suggests that Jesse wanted
to get back at the Bauers for killing his mother. Jesse keeps his cool
as the courtroom erupts.

FARMHOUSE: Hart asks why Dinah is doing this. She wants him to face up
to what Cassie has done to their relationship. Hart takes her keys &
says he's sorry as he walks out. Dinah vows that no one gets away with
dumping her.

CASSIE'S HOTEL ROOM: Josh says he feels awful. Maybe he should call
Reva. Cassie sits him down on the bed & says she'll take care of him.
She starts by untying his tie.

REVA & JOSH'S HOUSE: Marah plays dress-up with Tammy. Tammy wishes she
had something for Marah to wear, to make it fair. She gives Marah the
cameo. Marah urges Tammy again to tell her her real name, but Tammy
says her mom told her not to tell. Reva arrives home & Marah
introduces Reva to the girl she found. Reva sees the cameo Marah is
wearing & says it looks exactly like Grandma Sarah's. Marah says she
got it from "Madonna."

CASSIE'S ROOM: Josh says he feels weak. Cassie says it will all be
over soon. She starts undoing her dress as the screen fades to black.
