Guiding Light Update for Tuesday, 11/4/97

COMPANY
Jesse and Michelle come in to eat. Jesse is planning to stick close to
Michelle to protect her from Roy.

Nola comes in to tell J that she is leaving town.

FIREHOUSE
Jenna is telling Buzz that he doesn't need to come to her first few OB
appointments. Buzz calls her Petula again. Jenna says she loves to be
called that because that was a name he gave her. Buzz decides he will just
"scout around town" today to try to jog his memory. He puts Jenna off when
she asks whether he's going to the diner. Jenna heads to the door. Buzz
tells Petula again how glad he is about the new baby. Jenna leans against
the door after she goes out, looking tortured.

CARRIAGE HOUSE
Ross and Blake are decorating for a birthday party for the twins' play
group. Blake is dreading the "grown up" party tomorrow. Ross tells Blake
that Rick still wants his name on Kevin's birth certificate, and that Rick
is having trouble separating Abi's case from the birth certificate issue.
Rick seems to feel Ross will not pursue Roy vigorously until Rick drops the
issue. Ross feels that the birthday party will "set Rick off."

HOSPITAL
Rick and Abi arrive in the lobby. Rick is worrying about Abi coming back
to work too soon. She says she's fine. Rick says Meta told him Abi seemed
jumpy last night. Abi explains that a trick- or-treater startled her.
Rick finally leaves her to go about her job.

As she heads away from the desk with some files, Abi imagines that Roy is
one of the orderlies looking at her and starts to panic. She drops the
files and starts screaming. Rick rushes back to ask what the problem is.
Abi cries that she imagined seeing Roy just then, but she saw him for real
last night. Rick is livid. She details how Roy came to the house, accused
her of lying about him and threatened to "finish the job." Rick jumps up
and kicks a chair across the lobby. Abi begs him not to react rashly, she
just wants to stand up to Roy and be strong. Rick promises that he won't
go nuts, but Roy has to be stopped.

OUTSIDE, ON 5TH STREET
Buzz is wandering, people greet him by name and he responds blankly.
Harley sees him, reminding herself "don't push" before approaching. She
asks how the diner was. He admits he hasn't been there. He has just been
walking around, noticing how small SF is. Harley agrees, but her best
memories are here. She realizes she has put her foot in her mouth, and
tries to leave, making an excuse about getting coffee. Buzz offers to
share his, he just bought it around the corner. They laugh about him
patronizing the competition. Buzz remarks that he had been told "this was
the grimy end of town." No, just old, says Harley. Buzz says nothing
looks old but the diner. Harley then tells the tale of the fire a few
years ago, when everything burned down on 5thStreet, except that Buzz
risked his life to save the diner. His heroics were amazing, she thinks,
since he never liked SF or the diner earlier in his life. That's how he
was able to desert his family before Harley was born. Buzz can't believe
he left like that, "what kind of person am I?" Harley insists that he had
changed and "got better," but now she feels like she is losing him again.

HOSPITAL
Jenna and Vanessa meet in the waiting area, both are there for check-ups.
Vanessa has been given another clean bill of health. They talk about Henry
being happy for them, about Matt missing the appointment because of work.
Vanessa is glad to get a little break from his over- protectiveness. She
quickly apologizes for her insensitive gushing. No, no, insists Jenna,
Buzz is getting better, he even called her Petula. She now is thinking
maybe she won't ever tell Buzz that her baby is Jeffrey's.

CARRIAGE HOUSE
Blake is finished decorating. She and Ross congratulate themselves on
coming so far in a year. The door bell rings, it's Rick and Abi. Rick is
very emotional in relating Roy's most recent attack and demands an
immediate response from the DA.

UNKNOWN HOTEL/BEDROOM
A stranger is looking at Ross' picture in the Journal. He says to himself,
"I think it's time to level the playing field in all the ways that count.
Be prepared old friend."

COMPANY
Jesse is trying to get Michelle to go on tour with Marcus to do PR. She
knows he's just trying to protect her, and she's not going anywhere.

Nola has explained to J about being the stalker. J is having trouble
believing she is capable of it all. She explains how it started as a joke,
then things got out of hand. Now she can't believe how she has hurt Buzz
so deeply.

5TH STREET
Buzz tells Harley he is staying in SF this time. The new baby is the main
thing tying him to this place he could care less about. Now it's his turn
to put his foot in it. He berates himself for hurting "you people I don't
even know." He just doesn't know how to make it right. Harley says she
loved the man he was, but she will learn to live with it if he can't be
that person anymore. Buzz hopes he gets his memory back.

COMPANY
More Messe kissy face. Jesse pulls out a small gift box and gives it to
Michelle.

Nola is trying to make J understand how it feels to realize that your
dreams have passed you by. She thought Buzz had what she was missing in
her life. Now she owes it to Buzz to go away and figure out how she could
have hurt so many people. She wants J to be proud of her, and she wants to
like herself again.

CARRIAGE HOUSE
Rick is stomping around, finishing the story of what happened on Halloween.
Ross is sitting next to Abi on the couch. Addressing himself only to her,
Ross asks Abi to tell him what happened in detail. Aside, Blake tries to
calm Rick. Ross tells Abi that Roy is going back to jail for violating the
restraining order. Rick wants to know how Roy paid the $100,000 bail in
the first place. Ross only knows that it wasn't a family member. "Whoever
did it must be out of their mind."

UNKNOWN BEDROOM
The (now bare-chested) stranger is packing. "No, this won't be easy, but
it'll be worth it."

COMPANY
Michelle opens the box. It's a heart charm. Jesse says he bought it for
her birthday before he knew about Maureen's heart.

Nola says she's going now to tell Jenna everything, she won't see J again
before leaving town early tomorrow. She hopes he'll forgive her, doesn't
want him to blame Quint for her mistakes. She'll call when she "lands
somewhere."

5TH STREET
Harley says she will help Buzz. They're used to him not being easy. He
asks how she feels about her dad working in a diner. She doesn't mind,
he's the King of 5th Street, after all. Buzz says he couldn't have made
much money slinging hash. Harley points out that the reference is to being
rich in friends and family. She talks about some people he knows and has
helped. Buzz: "Wow, all these people know me." Harley says he is real,
honest and dependable. It took a long time to get Buzz back in her life
and she'll do what it takes to keep him there. Buzz looks stricken, "A
child should *never* have to wait for a father. I'm so sorry. I'll try to
make it up to you. Shall we start over?" OK, says Harley.

CARRIAGE HOUSE
Ross is getting more details from Abi. Rick is losing it. He begs Abi to
marry him now so he can live with her and protect her.

COMPANY
J asks Drew to work extra hours since he is now short-handed. Drew snaps,
"you can dream about it. I'd rather wear last year's styles." She looks
in his face and realizes how upset he is, then agrees to work whenever he
needs her and tell him he can count on her.

Michelle loves the necklace, "our hearts are one, know one can stop us."
More kissing, as Roy looks in from outside.

CARRIAGE HOUSE
Abi and Rick are crying. No, she can't marry him out of fear. When she
marries him she wants it to be with joy in her heart. Rick sobs that he
doesn't know what to do. Ross does. He calls Frank Cooper to arrest Roy
immediately.

UNKNOWN BEDROOM
The stranger is on the phone making a first class reservation on the next
flight to SF.

FIREHOUSE
Jenna and Vanessa come in. Vanessa is trying to convince Jenna that she
must tell Buzz the truth about the baby. Jenna reiterates that she is not
telling Buzz that Jeffrey is the father of her baby, just as Nola walks up
outside and overhears the whole thing.
