Let the Show Begin

COOPER DINER:
Beva enters the diner and smooches. Reva breaks
off. Eleni notices how chipper Buzz is, and
he tells her about his good time with Reva. He
complains that the only thing that would have made
it better was if she had not interrupted. Eleni
tells him she hasn't been near a phone all day.
Eew, says Buzz, if she didn't call, who did?
Cut to Reva in the kitchen, thinking about her
call from Josh.

LOWHAD: THE CAROUSEL:
Josh is wearing jeans and a sweatshirt, and is
painting one of the steeds. He remembers an earlier
time when Annie pulled a brass ring out of her bosom,
and he put it on her finger. He also remembers a
previous convo with Reva. Here comes trouble: Hawk
enters yelling for Joshua. Josh informs him that the
kids have already left for school [This is confusing--
isn't Hawk still living with Reva, and wouldn't he
know the kids are with her?]. Hawk informs him that
he is here to see him, and wants some answers right
now. "What are you going to do? Get back with my sweet
Reva as nature intended or stick with the Mutton woman?"

CEDARS: AA MEETING ROOM:
Annie is trying to escape, saying she needs to fix a
romantic dinner for Josh. A fellow recoveree reminds
her that the meeting only lasts an hour, and she can
get takeout. Something must have brought her here.
The leader calls the meeting to order, and Annie sits
down. He welcomes them to the weekly Cedars AA meeting,
and tells them that today they are on the first step.
He recognizes Annie as a face they haven't seen for a
while, and asks her to read the first step aloud. She
looks very reluctant.

CEDARS : BLAKE'S ROOM:
Blake is in a room filled with flowers, balloons and
stuffed animals. She tells the babies that she doesn't
care who belongs to whom, she loves them both so much.
Rick enters and compliments her on her guts for having
an at-home Caesarian. Rick asks to hold one of the boys
and tells Blake she might as well get used to it. When
she looks very scared, he explains that everyone wants
to hold babies. He takes the alert one, and leaves the
sleeping one in her arms. Blake wants to know if he is
going to keep quiet or tell the truth.

TWIRL LIGHTHOUSE
Do you think now that the EP Tubby is gone, we can get
our original music back?

FATHER KNOWS BEST:
Blake wonders if the fact that Rick said both babies look
like her means he is going to keep quiet. Rick says when
he saw Ross he knew Ed was right. He can't hurt Ross, Blake
and the twins on the basis of biological right. He can't
ruin their family. Blake gives a sigh of relief, saying it
is the happiest she has been for the last nine months. Rick
says he is going to be the most involved godfather ever, and
seems to be including both boys in his plans. Barbara, Ross
and Fletcher enter bearing gifts. Ross gives Blake a bracelet
with charms for both boys. Ross compliments Rick for bonding
well with his godson. Everyone goo goos over the babies, and
Ross picks up the other "cowboy." Barbara and Blake share some
touching moments. Fletch lamely tries to explain Holly's
absence, saying she will be back as soon as Meg feels better.
GreatGrandma Barb doesn't know which baby is cuter. Blake points
out they are twins. Barb is talking about the size difference.
Blake says they have one little peanut and one big bruiser.

LOVE IS ALL I NEED TO STAY SOBER DOESN'T SOUND LIKE A STEP
TO ME:
Annie reads the first step: we have admitted we are powerless
over alcohol and our lives have become unmanageable. She is
very flip about it, and her attitude is off. The leader suggests
a round robin. The first guy Dan says he has been sober only
a few days. Annie is thinking, "I don't need to be here. I
know the drill. Josh is all I need to stay sober. When he makes
love to me, I know he'll trust me again and I'll be ok." Dan
continues about how difficult it is, and how he is taking one
day at a time. It is Annie's turn. She says she is feeling good,
and wants to pass.

JEVA DINER:
Reva leaves the kitchen, and comes out wearing two potholders
on her hands. She is baking something. She asks why Buzz is
looking at her like that, but he wonders if it isn't ok for
a man to oogle his wife. Buzz calls Reva on the phone call.
He knows it wasn't Eleni.

BOARDINGHOUSE KITCHEN:
Michelle and J are cleaning up in the aftermath of the Matt and
Zach fight. Michelle says she is very worried about Matt, but
J thinks her concern is for Zack. Nola enters and wonders what
happened. J tells her that Matt came to fix the sink and all
was ok until good old "wacky Zack" starting hassling him about
Vanessa. Michelle defends Zack: he was defending Nola for
butting in, and then in turn defended her when Matt turned on
Chelle. When Zack tried to stop him, Matt slugged him and
pushed everything off the table as he stormed out. Nola blames
herself for asking Zack to intervene. She thinks that Matt
needs to find a way to deal with the grief.
Cut to : the Island on Lake Geneva where Matt enters a half-
completed house. He calls work and claims to be out at a job
site.

SWISS CHAPEL:
Van is wheeled into a chapel by one of the nuns, and asks to
sit for a while by the votive candles. She thinks they are very
soothing. The nun attributes the feeling to God's peace and love.
Van wants to light a candle. The nun hopes their prayers will help.
Van tells her that the candle is not for her, but for her family.
Sister Marie Charlotte should not look sad. Van is worried about
her family, especially her husband who she hopes finds peace
without her.

HALFTIME

WHO WILL IT BE : SISTER OR THE PILL POPPIN' CLAIM JUMPER:
Josh is talking on the cell phone, and wonders why Hawk is
still there. He wants to know who it is going to be : Reva
or the pill poppin' claim jumper. Josh gets upset that he
is talking about his wife like that. Hawk doesn't think his
wife is fit to raise his Grandbabies. Josh sputters that she
had a serious problem but she is dealing with it. Hawk replies,
"I know all about Annie's problems. Sister told me about her
addiction to them barbituates." When Josh says its none of
his beeswax, Hawk retorts that Marah and Shayne's welfare are
his business. "The kids deserve the best and Annie ain't it.
Strung out or sober, they should be with Reva, just like you
boy." Josh points out they are with Reva right now, which seems
to be news to Hawk. Josh fills him in on Annie's cold turkey
attempt to quit the pills, but Hawk asks what we've all been
asking: for how long? Annie lied to him about being married to
Rick and about her drinking, so why does Josh think she is
telling the truth this go around. Josh thinks he has to give
her the benefit of the doubt. Hawk thinks it would be better
to "give her the heave ho and get back to Reva." Josh says
he couldn't leave Annie even if he wanted to--he must stand
by her. "Lord love a duck, boy," says Hawk. You don't stay
with someone out of pity. Josh gets on his pompous high horse
and claims he loves Annie and she loves him. She is trying
very hard to be a good wife and mother and is going to meetings.
Hawk doesn't buy it.

ANNIE NEEDS MORE THAN AA TO KEEP HER MIND ON TRACK:
Annie is internally musing while a recoveree explains how
she is worried about her relationship with her husband. He
is learning how not to be codependent, but she is not ready
to make love with him yet. Annie remembers Josh jumping out
of bed this morning. The leader calls for a break. He chats
with Annie, but when he goes to fetch her coffee, she ducks
out of the meeting.

SAVED BY THE BELL:
Reva tells Buzz she never said Eleni had called, he assumed it.
Buzz retorts that she certainly made it seem that way and
didn't correct his misimpression. Buzz won't give up, so Reva
confesses the call was from Josh, checking on the kids. She
wonders if he would like to screen her calls, or put a bracelet
on her like Billy Lewis wears. The phone rings, and Reva answers:
"Cooper diner. Reva Cooper speaking." The call is about Shayne.
Frank comes in a smooches with Eleni. She wonders why he is
in mufti and he says he is undercover for Lt. Levy. She figures
out he is brownnosing in his quest to stay ahead of Nell Cleary
in the race to fill the detective slot. They smooch again.

NAME THOSE BOYS:
Abby enters Blake's room with a beribboned basket. She has
made beautiful blue afghans for the boys. She wants to hold one,
and takes a twin from Barbara. Rick thinks she looks beautiful,
and Blake thinks she will be a wonderful mother. Abby goes into
her "children are a gift from God, and what will be will be"
speech. Everyone wonders about the twins' names. Ross says it
definitely isn't Eddie and Freddie, and Blake muses that
Roger is probably out. Barb really nixes that one. Blake explains
that they have chosen two names they really like: Kevin and Jason.
And to honor the two men who helped bring them into the world,
one will be named Kevin Ross and the other Jason Frederick. Here
here, say one and all. Rick seems very pleased. Abby takes him
off and tries to bring up the important truth he was trying to
tell her yesterday.

THERE IS NO WAY I'M GOING TO DISCUSS MY PERSONAL LIFE WITH YOU:
J tells Nola that Matt left without saying where he was going.
Nola thinks it might be Lake Geneva, and thinks they should leave
him alone. She exits. J baits Chelle about whether she still has
a thing for Zack. She doesn't want to discuss it, but J says he
will do all the talking. It is obvious she was trying to make Zack
jealous, and he isn't the kind of guy who likes to play games.
Chelle should take the hint: it doesn't take a brain surgeon to
figure she has blown it. Chelle is outraged. She thinks J should
get a life. Her thing for Zack is over. J thinks it is good since
he is way too serious and moody; and there is "something weird"
about him. Chelle retorts he is kind and gentle.

MATT AND VANESSA REMEMBER:
We cut to Matt using a jigsaw remembering Van's laugh. He remembers
their boating on Lake Geneva.
Cut to: Van remembering too. The nun wonders if she will be ok
alone--but Van has her memories. She looks at her pictures of Matt.
"Oh my darling one. Please God let him find peace. Let him go on
without me."

THE COWBOYS MEET THEIR FAMILY:
Rick and Abby continue their discussion. Rick tells her that after
helping Blake deliver the boys, he has put things into perspective
and he is fine. Abby thinks he must be, since he is smiling in a
way she has never seen before. Rick says he has learned to let
things go and trust life. He is glad he has found Abby.
Fletch announces that since Holly is home with the baby, there is
nobody at the Journal. He must go and run the world, but Ross
retorts he is going to make up the news. He offers to drop Barbara
off. They depart with much cooing and kissing. Lillian comes in
to take the babies for a blood test. Blake is upset that they are
going to stick needles in little ones not yet a day old. Lil says
they will only be mad for a few seconds. Ross bades farewell to
the cowboys. Blake continues whining, and explains it to Ross as
being upset about the boys growing up and leaving the nest so
quickly. Ross assures her that this time they will be back, and
thinks she is quite a softy. Rick finally exits and leaves them
alone.

IT IS REALLY STRANGE THAT SHAYNE'S DOMESTIC ARRANGEMENTS ARE
CONSIDERED ODD IN SF:
Reva assures the caller that she will get in touch with Mr. Lewis
and be right over. Buzz wants an explanation. She tells him that
Shayne freaked when another kid teased him about having two
daddies and two mommies. Buzz thinks he seemed ok that morning,
but Reva points out she didn't know how upset Marah was until she
ran away during the custody battle. "The poor little kid. We've
got to nip this thing in the BUD (LOL) before it gets worse."
Buzz wants to go, but Reva thinks Shayne might feel they are
ganging up on him, and the only Jeva should go. Buzz lifts his
eyebrow, but murmurs whatever you think best. Reva says she is
going to phone Josh at work first [Since Josh and Matt are
AWOL, who is running the construction company?]

THERE IS A SUCKER BORN EVERY MINUTE:
Hawk thinks that if Josh really thinks Annie can keep her act
together, there is a bridge he'd like to sell him. Josh wonders
if Reva has put him up to this, but Hawk claims Sister would
skin him alive if she knew he'd tried to put things right.
Hawk says his kids suffered because he and Sarah had problems,
and now his Grandbabies are caught in the middle. Josh claims
the kids are fine, but Hawk doesn't buy it. "Reva don't belong
to that diner man anymore than you belong with Annie." Josh
wonders if Reva told him that herself. Enter the Mutton woman.
She spots Hawk, and wonders what brings him by. Hawk claims
he came to see how the kids enjoyed Halloween and forgot they
were in school. Annie has made a stop at Gourmet to go. Hawk
leaves, sniffing the air at the "smelly good food" she's got.
Annie wants to know the truth about Hawk's visit. Josh says
he knows about her drug problem and is worried about the kids.
Annie hopes Josh told him that she is clean and sober and
determined to stay that way. Josh says that is exactly what he
said. Annie thanks him for believing in her. Josh says he
does have a question, and before he can get it out, Annie
nervously tells him that her AA meeting got out early. Josh
says that isn't it. He leads her to the tarnished steed, and
asks her if she knows what happened. We flashback to an Annie
freakout that we missed the first time: Annie is out at the
carousel in her robe looking very disheveled obsessing about
Josh and Reva. She totally loses it, and takes a broomstick
to one of the poor horses, yelling "she's taking everything
away from me." Josh breaks in, and Annie comes to and blames
any damage on the kids. She hastens to add that she is sure
it was an accident though. She is sure Josh can fix it, and
changes the subject to food. While they are eating, Josh brings
the subject back to her AA meeting. Annie is chipper, saying
she didn't realize how much she missed it. Josh thinks it must
have been difficult to be there; and Annie agrees, especially
since it was at Cedars. She gushes about how lucky she is that
Josh has stood by her, and wants to apologize for anything she
did while she was "active." She promises she will make it up
to him. Since it makes her feel better Josh accepts her apology.
They hug, and Annie suggestively proposes "dessert" upstairs
in their bedroom. Josh is stuttering about having to go back to
work--but Annie is sure Matt can cover. He is saved by the bell:
Reva is calling about Shayne. Annie grimaces, and then smiles
sickly at Josh. After a commercial break, he finds out about
Shayne's problems at school. He says he will be there as soon
as possible. Annie wants to come with, but Josh claims that
the Pricipal told Reva it would be better if only Josh and Reva
came. Annie's mouth gaps slightly, but she manages to say it
is ok. Josh explains that since Jeva caused the problem, they
have to solve it. Annie says that the last thing she wants to
do is hurt Josh or the kids. Josh leaves to go change. Annie
wishes him luck and says she'll be waiting. After he is gone,
she omniously intones, "Josh and I need a child of our own and
soon."

MATT'S DREAMHOUSE:
Matt is surveying the southern exposure and planning big windows to
let in the light. He is going to build the house just the way
she wants it--"just the way you want it baby."

CUT TO: VAN IN THE CHAPEL:
"Please dear God give me some kind of sign that Matt has gone on
to live his life well without me. Please." Enter Zackery.

ONE OF THE BABIES NEEDS BLOOD:
Lil comes in without the twins. She explains that the smaller
boy Jason needs a blood transfusion. He is anemic. Rick looks
almost as upset as Blake. Lil is reassuring. This often happens
with low birthweight babies. Since Blake has lost so much blood
during the delivery, Lil wants to test Ross to see if he is a
match. Blake protests that the babies are used to her blood,
but Ross thinks since she gave birth, this is the least he can
do. Ross and Lillian leave. Blake asks Rick if he knows which baby
is his. Rick says that the lab was closed when they got there,
and that is why they are just now testing their blood. Blake
is really upset. "If Ross donates blood and it doesn't match,
he will find out he isn't the father and all hell will break loose."
Freeze frame on Blake gripping Rick by the chest of his green scrubs.

THE END

NO CREDITS.

Let's all do a happy happy dance. Today we have found out that
Mr. Laibson, aka Tubby has joined the unemployment line with
McT. Let us hope that the Light will shine brighter soon!
