                        GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE
                     TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1996

Written by Jeanne Glynn; Directed by Bruce Barry.

Blake's Car: The engine won't turn over, rain is falling, and Blake opens
the door of the car to walk back to the Bauer cabin. Suddenly, she is
gripped by pain.

Bauer Cabin: Rick and Ross argue about where Blake is and where they
should go next. They finally agree Rick will stay at the cabin and Ross
will go out and search for Blake.

Bridget's Truck: Hart is driving back to the farm as Bridget snoozes on
his shoulder. He yells at another car; she awakens and whines for
caffeine.

Hart's Barn: Dinah's waist deep in corn, screaming for help. Roger's
concerned because he can't unjam some valve, making her rescue more
difficult. Finally he opens a panel at the top of the elevator and thrusts
his hand out to rescue her. More screams.

Bridget's Truck: Bridget continues whining for coffee; Hart's worried
about Dinah and wants to get back to the farm. Finally, he agrees to stop.

Bauer Cabin: Rick carries on about the safety of "my boy" and rails at an
absent Blake about taking unnecessary chances. He finds Blake's bracelet,
which we saw last week, on the cabin floor.

Blake's Car: She sits on the seat, door open, getting soaking wet as her
contractions worsen. Finally, she closes the door of the car and sets off
on foot for the cabin. Not two seconds later Ross locates the empty car,
but of course, misses Blake.

Springfield Beach: J and Michelle are sitting around a bonfire with some
Springfield U students. After the others leave, J lays on the charm for
Michelle. She puts on his jacket and he claims he loves the out-of-doors
here so much it makes him feel like a Native American (?!?!?!). Michelle
is contemplative; he realizes she is thinking about Zachary. He wants to
go home; she wants to stay. Suddenly, Michelle grabs J and kisses him
passionately as Zachary walks along the beach.

Blake's Car: Ross calls out for Blake.

Bauer Cabin: Rick paces. Enter Blake. He yells at her and she cries
she's in labor. He tries to tell her she isn't really. Rick realizes
she's cold and wet, but he's surprisingly helpless. Finally, he tells her
to take a shower and clean up while he boils water. She tries to reassure
herself that he does know what he's doing. Sure, he replies; I saw a calf
born twenty years ago. As she exits he tries to get a grip on the
situation.

Springfield Beach: Michelle feigns surprise at seeing Zachary. J realizes
he's been used and excuses himself. Michelle and Zachary argue; Zachary
insists he was worried about her and that he wants to explain that she got
the wrong idea when she saw Lucy at the lighthouse. Michelle responds by
leaving.

Bridget's Truck: They're finally back on the road to the farm. Hart
enthuses about Dinah's coffee. Bridget changes the subject saying she
wants to ask Hart's opinion about a decision she needs to make. She claims
Nola has approached her about buying Company and she's considering moving
back to Flint with Peter. Hart says no, don't go (meaning don't take Peter
away).

The Barn: Roger's annoyed that his plan has gone awry; he wanted to set up
a rescue of Dinah, not kill her. Dinah's now shoulder deep and still
screaming. Close-up of their outstretched arms that don't quite touch.

The Truck: Hart doesn't want Bridget (and, more importantly Peter) to move
to Flint. She says she's looking for a relationship with a man, but it's
hard with a kid, and not all guys like someone else's kid. She finally
agrees to stay through Christmas, and then quickly invites both Hart and
Dinah to Thanksgiving at the boarding house. He accepts, never realizing
what Bridget has just pulled on him.

The Cabin: Enter Ross, still looking for Blake. Rick says call an
ambulance; she's in labor. Enter Blake from the shower. What part of
labor are you in? queries Ross. The part that hurts, she replies. No,
no...early, transition??? No more questions, she insists. She plops down
on the bed, pillows behind her, Ross at her head and Rick on the floor
between her legs. Rick announces this is transition, so get ready to push.
Blake to Ross: Don't you ever touch me again. Rick to Ross: Get some ice
(meaning for Blake). Ross consumes the ice himself, then belatedly offers
some to Blake. Much groaning, pushing and thunder.

The Beach: Zachary sits down to ponder his mistakes with Michelle as the
thunder rolls. Enter Zachary's mystery fisherman/advisor. The mystery man
proclaims the obvious: Zachary is jealous, he's distracted by Michelle, he
isn't accomplishing what he came here to do. Don't get involved he
advises.

The Barn: Thunder outside as Petey sleeps on Roger's chair. Enter Bridget
and Hart. Bridget begins to whine about having to wake Petey to take him
home. Hart yells for Roger and Dinah, oblivious to the fact that his
screaming will wake Petey.

The Grain Elevator: Roger and Dinah both scream for help. He has removed
his belt and is dangling it from his outstretched hand as her head becomes
enveloped in corn.

The Barn: Hart and Bridget argue as Roger enters, carrying Dinah. Hart
begins to scream at Roger, but Dinah says stop, he saved my life.

Bauer House: Michelle and J are saying good night. J tells her he knows
she was using him to make Zachary jealous. Don't you ever do that again,
unless you mean it. He then grabs her, kisses her, and abruptly leaves.

The Beach: The mystery man advises Zachary to stop thinking about Michelle
and get back to what he needs to do before it's too late. Zachary replies
that it may already be too late.

Bauer Cabin: More screaming, panting, and pushing. Finally one baby's
born. Ross cuts the cord and then goes off to wash the baby. Suddenly
there's trouble. The second baby's shoulders are caught in the birth
canal. Blake needs a C-section but he has no anesthesia. Do you mean I
have to chose between my wife and my child asks a terrified Ross? Freeze
frame on the two fathers.
