GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE -- THURSDAY, NOV. 30, 1995

                         FAMILY REUNION DAY
                               -or-
                       MY, HOW YOU'VE CHANGED!

Written by Jeanne Glynn and directed by Brian Mertes

Highlights:
* Annie gets a stand-in dad.
* Michelle returns, older yet shorter.
* Abby & Charlotte find a new home.
* Roger single-mindedly pursues Hart, giving Matt a major clue.
* Dinah unwittingly spills the beans.
* Bridget, Vanessa, otherPetey & David bond over cookie dough.
* Hart seeks the truth, but can he see the branch of his own tree?

CEDARS LOCKER ROOM: Annie drops some stuff & Rick helps her pick it up.
He attributes her clumsiness to pre-wedding jitters. Annie thinks she
should have eloped, but it's too late for that. She has so much to do
before the wedding. She asks if he's OK about her wedding.

In the hallway, Alan grabs Reva, who rebukes him for scaring her. He
likens it to the way he felt when he woke up & found her gone. She
reminds him that she said she had things to do before she left town. He
asks if she's finished so they can go.

THORPE PENTHOUSE: Matt pays a visit to tell Rog that he doesn't like the
Dodger's "bogus" threat to Vanessa. No way is Rog bringing Hart back to
steal Petey. Rog says it was no lie. "If you keep going after my wife,
Roger, so help me, I'll come after yours," vows Matt.

POOL HALL: "What did you say?" asks Hart. Dinah repeats that the real
reason Rog is trying to find Hart is to get custody of Hart's son.
"Faulkner" claims that Hart doesn't have a baby. True, at nearly 3,
Peter is hardly a baby anymore. Hart shakes his head & tells himself
it's impossible. Angrily, he asks Dinah what she's trying to pull. She
wonders the same about him. "What's Hart Jessup to you?" she asks.

He says he's not mad, just surprised. He could care less about Hart &
his "so-called kid." He sits down heavily. Dinah warns him not to let
Rog hear him dissing Hart. "Faulkner" asks if Hart is supposed to know
about his son. No, that's why Rog is trying to find him, explains Dinah.
Faulkner wonders why no one told Hart in the 1st place. Dinah wants to
talk about Marcus's case, but F is still focused on the Hart/baby thing.
Maybe it's a smokescreen to hide the real reason Rog wants to find Hart,
he suggests. Dinah dismisses this out of hand & tries to turn the talk
back to Marcus, but Hart's obsessed. Is she sure there's really a baby?
She's sorry she brought it up. "Trust me, there's a kid. Now, can we
drop it?" Hart has just 1 more question: "Who's the mother?"

BOARDINGHOUSE: She's making tea for Vanessa in the kitchen. Jet is sure
Matt will handle Rog. Van wants to present a united front with Jet
against Rog. Of course, says Jet. Van wonders if Rog will really find
Hart. Jet says he won't come back unless *he* wants to--he won't do it
just for Rog. Van rationalizes that there's nothing to draw him back to
Springfield. Jet agrees--she wasn't reason enough for him to stay in the
1st place so she's hardly a reason for him to come back. Van removes her
foot from her mouth & apologizes.

Jet claims she is "so over" Hart. "He can't hurt me now." She suspects
he's forgotten all about Springfield & everyone in it. And if he did
come back, she'd handle it. Van asks what she'd say. Jet says she'd tell
him the truth. Van worries about another custody battle. Jet says the
only redeeming feature of the last one was that Peter was too young to
know what was going on. Van says they shielded Peter, but Rog wouldn't
do that because all he cares about is winning. Jet doesn't want to talk
about it anymore. Van is worried because, not being Peter's bio-mother,
she doesn't have the same legal ground to stand on as Jet in a fight
against Roger & Son. Plus, it doesn't help that Rog hates her guts. Jet
tells Van to stop being such a Gloomy Gus. "You're torturing yourself.
Roger can't make a move without Hart & Hart is nowhere to be found." Van
doesn't think she could live without Peter. David enters with otherPetey
& says she won't have to, because this is a fight she won't lose.

PENTHOUSE: Matt accuses Rog of being too busy trying to cause trouble to
take care of his own family. Rog takes offense at Matt's presumption to
know anything about Rog's family. Matt says if he has his way, Rog will
lose Dinah, just like he lost Holly & Blake. Rog says he & Dinah are
very happy. Matt asks about the drink Dinah dumped in his lap. He thinks
she is slowly realizing who Rog really is & it won't take Matt long to
help her completely see the light. Rog pooh-poohs the very idea. Matt
accuses Rog of lying to Dinah & tipping the police about Interpol. It's
obvious Rog doesn't care about Dinah or what matters to her, or he'd be
helping Marcus instead of trying to keep him in jail. Rog warns Matt to
mind his own business. Matt thinks Rog is trying to isolate Dinah from
anyone who cares about her. Rog says they're happy together & don't need
anyone else. Matt wonders why Dinah had to hire a PI all by herself.

Matt suggests that Rog pay more attention to his wife & less attention
to Van, Jet & Peter. "Peter doesn't matter to Dinah. Marcus does." Rog
says Dinah understands his love for his family. Matt thinks this sounds
dirty coming from Rog. Rog invites Matt to leave. Matt says Rog won't
find Hart, because if he could have, he already would have. Matt's not
sure Rog is really even looking. Rog trumps this with a file. Matt opens
it & sees Marshall Hilliard's 8x10 resume glossy, I mean a photo of
Hart, & recognizes his nemesis from the pool hall. "Who's this?" he asks
stupidly. Rog spells it out for him. Matt stares at the photo again.

CEDARS: Rick tries to convince Annie that he's happy for her. Does he
have to show up at the wedding & throw rice? Yes, says sadistic wench.
She really wants him there & so does Josh. Rick turns on the sarcasm.
Annie begs. She knows he was upset. Rick says he was upset about
Abigail, not about Annie's wedding. It turns out the couple who offered
to sponsor Abby has backed out & now she has no place to stay. Rick is
worried that when Charlotte finds out, she'll take Abby back to Goshen.
Annie & Rick walk out into the hallway, where a pretty young thing in
bobby sox & a pleated miniskirt is surrounded by Young Doctors in Love
offering to carry her bag. She sees Rick & squeals as she jumps into his
arms. "Michelle!" he shouts gleefully. [She looks a bit like a very
young, very petite Chelsea (Kassie Wesley). Long, straight, light-brown
hair, pixie face with a perfect little nose & a pointy little chin, and
about a head-and-a-half shorter than Rick. I put her at about 16.]

Rick is surprised to see her so soon--she wasn't expected until Xmas.
She blew off her useless last classes & hopped an earlier plane. The
YDIL are dismayed to learn that she's Rick's kid sister & Ed's daughter.
The "testosterone-raged wolves" beat a hasty retreat. "Look at you--
you're so grown up," comments Rick. The balloon over his head adds,
"Yeah, you've aged 2 years in only 6 months!"

Rick takes Michelle into a lounge, where she is thrilled to see Annie &
gives her a big hug. Michelle wants to go surprise her dad & Rick leaves
with her. Annie reminds Rick that she needs to talk to him & he promises
to catch up with her later. She sighs with frustration as she watches
him walk off with Michelle.

Reva tells Alan to stop following her--she'll leave when she's good &
ready. Alan wants to get out of town. Reva wants to say good-bye to Abby
& make peace with Charlotte. Alan complains that her to-do list keeps
growing. Reva reminds Alan that she owes Charlotte her life. She
promises that as soon as she talks to Charlotte, she'll be ready to go
"far away & forever." She pulls her hood close around her face & starts
walking. She immediately runs into Charlotte & Abby. Charlotte brushes
Reva off, saying she has forms to fill out.

Reva talks to Abby instead. Abby is glad that she can stay in Spring-
field to study. She wants to meet her sponsor family, but she'll miss
her parents. Reva says it's OK to feel both ways. Abby asks if her
sponsor family will like her. No, says Reva, they'll love you. Abby hugs
Reva, then notices Reva's short hair. Reva admits she did it herself.
Abby likes it & wants Reva to cut her hair too, because she wants to be
exactly like Reva. They hug again while Alan complains. Reva shushes him
& tells Abby she's perfect as is. Reva says she has to go on a trip &
won't see Abby for awhile. But she'll think of Abby every day & will
always love her. "And wherever I am, I will carry you in my heart." Abby
says she'll do the same & they hug yet again.

In the hall, Rick threatens to put the YDIL on bedpan duty for making
eyes at Michelle. She wants to meet deaf Abigail. They approach Abby's
room, only to be greeted heartily by Alan, who is attempting to block
the view inside. He chats animatedly about Charlotte filling out forms &
is amazed by what Europe has done to Michelle. She simpers & bats her
eyes. Rick interrupts Alan's ramblings & explains the setback with the
sponsor family--they can't take Abby for another 2 months. Alan is
pissed. He insists he can't wait--he has to leave Springfield today.

PENTHOUSE: Rog says Matt can't stop him from finding Hart & suggests
that Matt go home & bother his wife. The phone rings & while Rog answers
it, Matt continues to stare at the photo. Leo's on the phone & Rog baits
Matt by asking for new information on the search for Hart. Leo, of
course, is perplexed & tells Rog that there is no search & the coffers
are empty. He thinks Rog is bonkers. Rog continues his end of the
conversation as if he's hearing good news. Leo promises to come right
over. When Rog hangs up, Matt appears to be gone. Rog glares.

POOL HALL: Hart asks again who the mother is. Dinah can't see why it
matters & tries again to get back to Marcus. Hart gets up to leave.
Dinah demands her money back. Hart says he has a new lead to follow & he
will be in touch. Near the door, he bangs his fist against his head &
sighs with frustration, then exits.

CEDARS: Ed responds to a call from Annie. She says her grandmother is
too sick to make the trip to her wedding; in fact none of her family
will be able to come. She asks if he'll give her away, even though it's
strange with her being his ex-daughter-in-law. She'll understand if he
says no, but hopes he won't. Ed says he'd be delighted & it will make up
for not being part of her 1st wedding. Annie's over-joyed & thanks Ed
for all the wonderful things he's done, his support & his kindness.

Over by Abby's room, Rick pushes his way past Alan. He introduces
Michelle to Abby, who signs something, but neither M nor Rick can
understand. Rick explains that soon Abby will learn ASL & so will he, so
they'll be able to communicate. Abby signs again & Rick jokes that she's
saying he's a wonderful doctor & incredibly handsome. Alan pulls Rick
aside & insists that he find another place for Abby, pronto. Finally, we
see Reva hiding & listening from behind the bathroom door.

Charlotte returns & asks what's going on. Rick introduces Michelle.
Charlotte asks why Alan's there. He says Rebecca wanted to make sure she
& Abby got settled. Charlotte says she's going home & Abby will stay as
planned. Rick explains the problem with the sponsor family. Charlotte
decides it's God's will & explains to Abigail that she'll have to come
home to Goshen after all. Rick says they'll find another place for her
to stay, but Michelle interrupts to say that Abby can stay with her &
Ed, who enters just in time to hear this. He hugs his daughter. "Say
something," she urges. "You're home, you're all grown up, & you just
gave away our guest room." Michelle bats her eyes.

BOARDINGHOUSE: Van wishes Matt would return & wonders what he's saying
or doing to Rog. Jet changes the subject & suggests baking chocolate
chip cookies. David turns on some tunes as the women grab ingredients &
dance. Peter gets a spoon for stirring. Van decides David & Jet are
right & everything is going to be fine. Jet sees that the garbage is
full & takes it out the front door & drops it in the can. As she heads
back to the door, she hears someone call her name. "Hart?" she asks,
without turning. She looks scared, but a little smile crosses her lips
as well. She turns & faces Hart.

CEDARS: Rick thinks Michelle's idea is great. Ed worries that Abby will
be on her own too much. Michelle & Rick pooh-pooh this; the house is
near the hospital & Rick is in the garage apt. Ed asks what Charlotte
thinks & offers her a place to stay too. Alan loves this idea, but
Charlotte says she couldn't impose. Michelle says she'd be a big help &
it's settled. Charlotte decides to stay & thanks everyone. She explains
the new plans to Abby, who is pleased. Annie says good-bye. Ed asks when
he should show up for the rehearsal. Annie invites Michelle, who says
Rick can bring her. "No problem," says Rick, but he doesn't really mean
it. Ed walks off with Michelle, asking about school. Rick leaves too.

Alan knocks on the bathroom door & tells Reva the coast is clear. She
emerges & apologizes to Charlotte, but explains that she didn't want to
be seen. Alan sees a look in Reva's eyes that he doesn't like.

POOL HALL: Dinah uses the pay phone to call the police station. She asks
about Marcus & lies that she's family. Matt barges in, grabs the phone,
slams it back on the hook, & demands to know where the PI is. He yells
at her about going to new heights to hurt her mom, but Dinah is clueless
as to why he's so outraged. He demands to know who the supposed PI is.
Dinah says he *is* a PI & she's still clueless.

PENTHOUSE: Rog instructs Leo to find Dinah's PI & fire him. He doesn't
want her wasting another dime on him. Leo says there's no PI named
Faulkner registered anywhere. He thinks Rog has bigger problems than
trying to get Dinah's money. Which reminds Leo that *he* hasn't been
paid recently either. Rog says he'll get his money. Meanwhile, where's
Dinah? Leo wonders. Rog supposes she's shopping, but Leo hasn't been
able to find her in any of her usual haunts. He thinks she's with
Faulkner, being conned out of her last penny. Rog tells Leo to find the
guy. "I want to talk to this Faulkner myself."

BOARDINGHOUSE YARD: Hart & Jet stare at each other wordlessly. Finally
she guesses that Roger found him. Hart says Rog has no idea where he is,
but he knows Rog has been looking. "That's why I'm here." He wanted to
talk to Jet first, because she's the only one he can trust. He needs to
know the truth. "Tell me why my father's looking for me." Jet is tongue-
tied. Hart pleads with her to tell him the truth.

Inside, David says he's got to get to Company. He thanks Van for
standing by Jet. "Hart nearly wiped her out once & I hope he never gets
the chance to do it again." Petey stirs the batter.

Outside, Hart says he knows he can count on Jet & she never let him down
before. "Tell me why my father's so desperate to find me."

CEDARS: Ed's concerned by Michelle's sudden burst of generosity without
consulting him. She says it's what her mom or grandmm would have done.
"No fair using Bert," teases Ed. He hugs M & says it's great to have her
home. It's not going to be quiet & peaceful around the house anymore.

In Abby's room, Reva asks to speak with Charlotte privately. She tells
Abby that Alan will take her to the nurse's station to check out. Char-
lotte hangs her head. Reva says she's doing a brave thing. "It's a big
change... a kind of letting go." She admits that she's letting go of her
own kids too. It's hard & it hurts. Charlotte says God will look over
them & turns to go. Reva says she was wrong about a lot of things &
Charlotte made her take a good look at herself. She realizes she has to
make a new life for herself. Charlotte says she's made mistakes too & is
not there to judge. God means for them to show mercy & forgiveness. "You
have mine as I ask for yours." "You've got it," says Reva. They hug. "Go
with God, Reva," says Charlotte. Reva smiles tearfully at hearing Char-
lotte use her real name. "That's who you are," says C. Reva agrees.

In the hall, Annie chases after Rick. She's upset because she still
doesn't know if Rick will come to her wedding. He's the only real friend
she has. She knows it will be uncomfortable for him, but she's selfish.
Rick says he wouldn't miss it. She hugs him & thanks him.

POOL HALL: Dinah thinks Matt has lost his mind. He keeps asking
questions about the PI. Dinah says he was working for Rog. Matt asks if
she saw his license. No, says Dinah. Matt calls her stupid. Dinah says
she hired him because she was desperate to find someone to help Marcus.
She didn't have time to ask for a resume. "Big surprise for you, Dinah.
You may not know who this guy is, but I do."

BOARDINGHOUSE YARD: Hart just wants the truth & then he'll get as far
away from Rog as he can. "Something happened a long time ago before you
left town & it's been bothering me a lot," says Jet in a trembly voice.
Hart repeats his request. The PIs were so hot on his tail that he could
hardly shake them. He came back to town to find out why Rog was so eager
to find him. Jet takes a deep breath & dons a more flippant voice. She
suggests that he get an address & she'll find out what she can & get
back to him. He tells her to cut the BS. He's heard something about a
kid. "Who told you that?" she asks. He says it doesn't matter. He just
wants to know if it's true. "What do you think?" she asks. He thinks
it's a set-up to try to get him back to town. Well, that's what it must
be, she replies. She suggests that he get as far from Rog as he possibly
can. "Cause he's the kind of person who's never gonna change. He never
has & he never will." Hart realizes he was stupid to come back. "There's
nothing for me here." Bridget rolls her eyes. Behind her, Petey opens
the door & walks out, licking cookie dough off his fingers.

ALAN'S LAIR: Alan says they can finally leave. He will call the pilot &
have him fire up the jet. Reva doesn't want to leave looking the way she
does. She wants to go on a shopping spree first. Alan says she can shop
in Paris, but she wants to get off the plane looking like a million
bucks. Alan knows what she's up to.

PENTHOUSE: Rog wonders where Dinah is. He drops Hart's file on the
table, open to the photo.

POOL HALL: Dinah swallows her anger & faces Matt. "This had better be
good," she demands. Matt tells her that her PI is, in actuality, Rog's
long-lost son, Hart.

BOARDINGHOUSE YARD: Hart spots Petey & picks him up, enchanted. Peter
babbles contentedly. Jet nervously runs her fingers through her hair.
Van calls Peter & comes out on the porch in search of him. She sees him
in Hart's arms, standing next to Jet, & her smile disappears. Tacky
dramatic music plays over tacky freeze frame of Van's face as the screen
fades to black.
