GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE
TUESDAY NOVEMBER 28

Springfield Police Department:
Gilly and Fletcher are arguing about who is more likely to get an
exclusive with Griffin Williams, who is rumored to be here. Cut to

Marcus's Jail Cell:
Dina insists she is calling Marcus's father because Marcus needs
all the help he can get to get out of this steel roach motel. Enter GW who
comments, "Well son, you've really done it this time."

Cedars Hospital:
Annie is nagging Rick about why he hasn't gotten medical attention
for his hurt hand when Josh shows up insisting that he find "that woman"
and talk to her. Annie says let's drop it.

The Love Nest:
Alan is carrying Reva up the stairs when she says put me down or
you'll be sorry.

ROLL THE LIGHTHOUSE & Commercial

Cedars:
Josh doesn't understand why Annie suddenly wants him to drop his
quest for the mystery woman. After all, the kids may be in danger. Annie
says she thinks they may have overreacted and that probably this woman is
just a normal person.

Love Nest:
Alan is perturbed that Reva's changed her mind about sleeping with
him. She says its too soon; he says we used to be married; she reminds him
he married her under false pretenses and wants to know if she has to pay
for her trip with sex.

Jail:
Marcus says nice to see you, too, Dad. GW wants to talk to Marcus alone,
and Dina's willing to excuse herself and find a cappuccino, but Marcus says
no way--she's my friend, she stays. Dina gushes over the famous GW, but
Marcus is not impressed. He's sure Dad's only come to ward off any bad
publicity that may damage his career and prevent him from running for
president. Then he asks GW why he hasn't even bothered to ask if Marcus is
innocent.

COMMERCIAL

Ski Lodge:
Nick and Susan have returned to their room after some time on the slopes
and both seem ravenous. Nick has procured enough take-out food to feed a
small nation, but as soon as they begin kissing and ripping off their
clothes the food is forgotten.

Jail:
GW says he didn't ask because he knows his son couldn't kill anyone so he
must be innocent. Dina asks him to use his influence to get the judge to
set bail and GW launches into a strident speech. Marcus has obviously
heard it all before and asks Dad to keep his rhetoric to himself. GW
excuses himself.

The Diner:
Frank (who has turned into a completely self-righteous jerk of late) holds
up a drink and suggests that all the new graduates celebrate Cutter's life
rather than their graduation. Lucy is bemoaning Cutter's unfair demise.
She and Frank wonder briefly about Nadine. Frank mentions a note he had
from Harley. Ross and Blake come over to congratulate Frank and Ross
nearly gets his head bitten off by Frank, who wonders how Ross can possibly
sleep at night and defend Marcus. Meanwhile, in another part of the diner
Alex and Buzz continue their discussion about "that woman." Buzz reveals
that Alan knew her before Goshen. Alex realizes she must know her, too.

Love Nest:
Alan is offended that Reva actually thinks he might be trying to buy her
for sex. Reva says he always knows just what to say, but she isn't
convinced. Alan insists that they get out of SP--she'll learn to love him.
He hands her a passport and suggests that they leave now and take only
their dreams. Reva considers...

Diner:
Buzz and Alex are still talking. Eleni approaches, mad that Buzz didn't
bother to show up at the graduation. She fumes that Buzz hurt Frank and
she won't forgive him. Enter Frank who insists Eleni forget it...after
all, Buzz has behaved this way towards his family his whole life. Buzz
feels badly...but Alex is still perseverating on "that woman". Who is
she??? Buzz says he doesn't know but she doesn't want to meet Alex. Alex
says if you want me to save her from Alan you have to tell me where she is.

Love Nest:
Reva finally agrees to go away with Alan but she says she can't go until
she says goodbye to Abigail. Alan has had just about enough of
Rebecca-of-Goshen-Farm's stalling but she tells him he can't stop her.
He's worried that isn't all she has planned. After she leaves he calls to
make sure his plane will be ready in one hour.

Cedars:
Josh insists on grilling Mrs. Bloom about "that woman." In an adjoining
room, Annie asks Rick if he has ever seen Rebecca and wonders why Alan told
her to let it go. Rick says he never saw her face, but he has a rule that
he does the opposite of whatever Alan says. Mrs. Bloom, who has done her
best to avoid giving a straight answer, finally says, perhaps it is time
someone told Josh the truth...

COMMERCIAL

Ski Lodge:
Nick and Susan have finished making love and Nick asks her if she fell on
the slopes. She says, no, but he notices a bruise on her leg. When she
examines it more carefully she decides it isn't a bruise, it's Karposi's
sarcoma, an early symptom of AIDS. She tries to run away to be alone, but
he won't let her. They hug and he tells her she's not giving up.

Police Station:
Gilly and Fletcher are still trying worm their way in for a GW interview.
Gilly tells the cop she is writing a speech for GW and he has buzzed for
her to come in. When that doesn't work, Fletch steps up to bat, insisting
he's an old family friend and he's here to put GW's case before the public.
Suddenly GW appears on his own. He's glad to see Fletch and announces for
all the world that he's here to publicly clear his son. Gilly grumbles it
isn't fair Fletch already knew GW, but she picks up on the cue and
introduces herself as Gilly Grant of WSPR News. GW instructs her to get
her cameras and a crew and follow him.

Cedars:
Mrs. Bloom delivers a stern lecture on the evils of modern civilization.
The truth about Rebecca, it seems, is that SHE LIED TO HER. (Horror of
horrors...) Josh appreciates how terrible all this is, but Mrs. Bloom
insists Rebecca isn't what she appears to be.

Jail:
Dina and Marcus are still talking. She says he needs all the help he can
get and he should trust his father. He reminds her that he has given her
the same advice and she didn't take it from him. Besides, he says, while
Ross is the same with every person, GW is really two separate people. The
public persona is charismatic, but the private GW is distant and unable to
make close connections with family (at least him). His heart is with the
cause, not with me personally, Marcus insists. GW doesn't really know who
I am.

Diner:
Ross tells Bridget and David that the case against Marcus is strong, but he
doesn't know the details the state has against him. Matt and Vanessa
explain how Cutter asked Marcus to remove the knife. Vivian is there, too.
She warns David not to trust Marcus since they don't really know him. She
tells Eleni about a plan she and Cutter came up with for building youth
centers with donations from athletic shoe companies (!!!!!) and wants to
name a center after Cutter. GW enters, demands to know why Levy arrested
his son, and launches into still another oration.

Love Nest:
Alex has arrived and wants to stop Alan from leaving town with "that
woman." Who is she? Why can't he stay in Springfield? Why can't he come
back to Spaulding and take back his stocks from Amanda? She doesn't want
to lose him. Alan insists she is being ridiculous, that they have always
hated each other, etc. But I've always counted on you, Alex pleads. Can't
you share this woman with your family? Too bad, Alan snorts.

Cedars:
Mrs. Bloom assures Josh that even though Rebecca is a liar she is sure she
would never hurt his kids. Josh asks if she knows where she is because he
feels he has to talk to her. (Meanwhile, a caped Reva is spying/listening
from nearby.)

COMMERCIAL

Ski Lodge:
Nick tries to reassure Susan and help her not to give up or feel sorry for
herself. Much crying, hugging, and kissing.

Diner:
GW stridently maintains his son is innocent. Frank makes disparaging
remarks and says this isn't a racial issue. GW insists Frank has
overlooked something (since when did Frank become the head investigator
here?). Ross comments aside that he would not like to get on the wrong
side of GW. As GW leaves he passes Vivian. "Why Vivian, I'd recognize you
anywhere even after all these years..." She looks but doesn't respond.

Cedars:
Annie is assuring Mrs. Bloom that Cedars and the family Abigail is boarding
with will take good care of her daughter. After Mrs. B. leaves she asks
Josh if he learned anything. Then she urges him to think about their
wedding next week. "After all that woman is leaving town and we're going
off to the land of wishes hopes and dreams." A lurking Reva makes a face
somewhere between disgust and severe nausea.

Love Nest:
Alan and Alex are still arguing. Alan is really tired of this conversation
(as am I). Finally he tells her that he will always love her but his mind
is made up and he is going off into the hinterlands with the woman I love.

The final scene is a freeze frame composite portrait with Alan on one side,
Josh on the other, and a head shot of a caped Reva in between. I suppose
this is an attempt at foreshadowing, but it reminded me of a cheesy cover
for a Harlequin romance.
