	SPAULDING ENTERPRISES

Lucy, AM, Nick, & Susan come into the office and make plans for dinner.
Lucy wishes Marian could come since she worked so hard on the quarterly
report. Susan, "Don't worry about her. You should stay as far away from
Marian as you can."

	BRENT'S APT.

Brent complains that his plan should have worked, except for bad luck &
rotten timing & some person he doesn't even know. He listens to a tape &
then hears a woman's voice. "You're the disappointment. You've always
disappointed me Brent. And I'm sorry to say you always will." Brent,
"Shut up. You're wrong & I'm going to prove you wrong."

	THORPE PENTHOUSE

Marcus pounds on the door & comes in to talk to Dinah. He thinks that
she has kicked Roger out & offers to help if he tries to bother her.
Roger walks in and tells Marcus that Dinah can handle him all by herself.

	ROSS'S OFFICE

Amanda drops her fur coat & kisses Ross. He pushes her away & asks what
she's doing. He tells her to put her coat on. She hugs him again.
Blake calls out to Ross from the outer office & starts to turn the
doorknob. Ross gives Amanda her coat & goes out to talk to Blake. He
wipes his mouth with a hankerchief & tells Blake his allergies are acting
up. He admires her new outfit, but he has to finish what he's doing, so
she has to go home. She wants to wait for him in his office, but he
thinks she'll distract him. He'll come home as soon as he can. She leaves.

Amanda tells Ross he did that very well. He drapes her coat over her
body & tells her to get out.

	SPAULDING ENTERPRISES

Lucy wants Susan to give Marian a break. Marian is lonely & troubled,
more than mean. She doesn't have any friends except for Lucy and never
got over the rape. AM tells Lucy that she was attacked & is still a
human being. Lucy says it's because she had lots of support from her
friends & family. Lucy doesn't blame them if they hate Marian, but she
can't turn her back on Marian. She calls Marian & offers to bring some
soup over. AM, Nick & Susan look at her like she's crazy. Lucy, "She's
my friend & she needs me."

Brent, "See. I still got it."

	POLICE STATION

Cutter gets a call from the lab. The hairs he picked up outside Marian's
apartment match the hairs found in the murder victim's hand.

	BRENT'S APT.

Brent, "Well Marian, every once in awhile you get a break. Lucy's on the
way over. Lucy, we have good news & bad news. The good news is you're
not HIV+ after all. The bad news is, you're going to die anyway."

	THORPE PENTHOUSE

Marcus can't believe Dinah let Roger back in after what he did to the
place & asks what he did to change her mind. Dinah says they had a
difference of opinion & reconciled their differences. Roger says it
happens in "good" marriages all the time. Marcus, "Taking him back is
like making a deal with the devil." Roger is always fascinated to hear
what Marcus has to say about him. Marcus asks what Roger has done to
change Dinah, drugs or blackmail? Because he doesn't recognize her
anymore. Roger, "Chalk it up to maturity. Your old friend outgrew
you." Marcus wonders what it is with Roger & women, "You think you're
such hot news. Double O Roger Thorpe, Mr. Bad versus Vanessa, versus
Holly, versus Dinah, even you own daughter. You don't risk a lot of
masculinity beating up women. When was the last time you were in the
ring with a man?" Roger offers to fight "Marky". Marcus tells him to go
ahead.

	SPAULDING ENTERPRISES

Susan tells Lucy that Marian is a mean person and evil. Lucy should stay
away from her. Lucy thinks Susan is a little over the top & she'll talk
to Marian about where this problem is coming from. AM says he'll go
along to Marian's. They make plans to meet Nick & Susan at 8:30.

Susan tells Nick that Lucy doesn't see how awful Marian is, "there's
something creepy about that woman." Nick says that AM will make sure
everything is fine. Nick wants Susan to close her eyes & do what he
tells her. She hesitates. He tells her to obey. She doesn't like
obey. He says to call it cooperation then. He leads her out of the office.

	BRENT'S APT.

Brent, "We're going to watch that sweet innocent young thing perish on
the exact day that she's celebrating a new lease on life. How
deliciously ironic." There's a knock on the door. Marian answers it.
Cutter is there with chicken soup. He was on his way home & thought he'd
check up on her. He thinks she looks better. He looks in the
wastebasket & asks if that's what's left of the fire. Marian explains
that she was trying to light the stove & flipped the match into the
trash. Patrick wants to find out how she felt about their date. He
wants her to know he can be an understanding guy as well as enforce the
law. He thinks she might need someone to talk to. Marian, "I knew I
wasn't your type. I knew that you didn't ask me out just because you
found me attractive." Patrick thinks she's a nice person, but he's not
ready for anything serious with anybody right now, but he wants to be
friends.

Another knock on the door. It's AM & Lucy.

	ROSS'S OFFICE

Amanda asks why Ross is so ticked off at her, she was sure this is what
he wanted. Ross asks what kind of woman has she become. Amanda tells
him the kind that makes things happen. Everyone has a price & if you
can't pay for it, you have nothing. Ross asks what happened to her.
Amanda blames it on LA. She became very good at reading men's eyes. She
thought she saw it ten years ago & didn't know what to do with it, so she
passed on what could have been the greatest romance of her life. Ross
asks why she came on to him. She couldn't see any other way.

	THORPE PENTHOUSE

Dinah tells Roger to remember their deal: if he's mean to Marcus, she
get his half of WSPR. Marcus laughs & asks if Roger signed a list of
do's & don'ts. Roger says "Marky" is not worth upsetting Dinah, so
he'll leave them alone. Dinah shows Marcus the agreement. He thinks
she's an idiot, Roger's signature isn't worth anything. He misses her &
the way things were. He'd hoped to have it back, but she's changing &
he can't do anything about it. Roger listens & smirks.

	THE PARK

Nick leads Susan to a swing. He kisses her. She pulls away & asks what
happened to him not wanting to be involved with anyone. Nick explains
that falling in love wasn't in his game plan, but then he met her. He
asks how she feels about him.

	MARLER HOUSE

Blake tells herself that Vanessa was right. Blake is as good as Amanda.
No, better than she is. Ross can see that, anyone can. She daydreams
about a gameshow, "Keep your man". Blake gives the right answers &
Amanda's are wrong. When Blake wins, she has a choice of $100,000 or
pouring green stuff over Amanda. She choses the green stuff over the
money and says it would be worth it.

	ROSS'S OFFICE

Ross tells Amanda that she's a successful, accomplished woman. Amanda
tells him that when she went to Hollywood she found some help, but he
wanted something in return, not money. When she said no to him she lost
her studio connections. She couldn't come crawling home to ask for
help. When her father gave her his stocks it was a miracle. She wants
to work at Spaulding, but Alex can't stand her & AM has alot of things on
his mind & doesn't care what happens to her. Ross doesn't understand
her coming on to him & asks what she's trying to prove. Amanda doesn't
know, she wanted his friendship so badly she was willing to buy it. She
hopes he can forgive her. She hugs him. He says they have a history
together & none of it regretable. They can be friends. He's married to
a wonderful woman & he intends to stay that way. Amanda agrees about
Blake & hopes she knows how lucky she is. Ross won't tell Blake what
happened. Amanda asks if she can stay behind to repair the damage before
facing Alex.

	THORPE PENTHOUSE

Dinah is sick of Marcus trying to get her away from Roger. Marcus is
wrong about Roger. They understand each other and their marriage is for
better or worse. Marcus asks if she's stupid or just pretending. This
isn't a marriage, it's a sick club. He thinks what keeps them together
is mutual hatred and both want revenge. Dinah gets out a credit card &
tells Marcus to leave & she'll pay the bill.

	BRENT'S APT.

Lucy fusses over Marian and goes to heat the soup & make tea. Cutter
sits next to Marian & pats her leg. He asks why she has goosebumps.
Marian says she's cold. Cutter offers to get a sweater out of the
closet. Marian jumps up & yells, "No." They ask what's wrong. She
says she's woozy. Lucy offers to stay as long as Marian needs her.
Marian thinks three people taking care a person with a cold is a bit
much. Lucy decides to leave (so that Marian & Patrick can be alone).
Marian wants to have a talk with Lucy sometime soon. Patrick makes the tea.

	MARLER HOUSE

Ross comes home and finds Blake brushing her teeth and wearing a flannel
shirt & shower cap. She thought he got stuck at a meeting so she decided
to eat popcorn & watch a movie. He wants to skip the movie & popcorn and
try a little one-on-one. They kiss & fall on the bed.

	THE PARK

Nick & Susan dance. She tells him that she loves him & has ever since
she met him. They kiss and hug.

	THORPE PENTHOUSE

Marcus only stayed in Springfield because of Dinah. Losing her is the
worst part of it, but they're also accusing him of stealing from the
Towers. Dinah doesn't believe it. He wishes he'd left a long time ago.
Dinah asks why didn't he. He stayed because he thought she might need a
real friend. He'll take her ticket & go. It was nice knowing her.

Roger, using a German accent, calls to report a crime. He saw Marcus
Williams take money from the Towers & put it in his sax case.

	BRENT'S APT.

Patrick gives tea to Marian and tells her that when good people get
involved in bad situations it doesn't mean they're bad people. Marian
thinks police work is fascinating, but she would rather talk about it
when she's feeling better. Cutter agrees to leave & talk another time.
Marian notices a drop of blood on the carpet & stares at it. Cutter asks
what she's looking at and sees the spot. He asks if she knows what the
stain is.
