                     Who was that masked man?

SUMMARY: (for those of you who want to avoid my intrusive editorial comments)

Alan lies
Rog ..um..uh..lies
Dinah dies (wishful thinking)
Hart spies
Nola "Hi's!"
Brent spills
Lucy gets thrills
A-M chills
Cutter grills
Marcus still has the bills
Reva slaps Alan silly (more wishful thinking)
And Holly and Rick aren't on today :-(

IN THE PARK Roger and Dinah argue. Dinah disses Rog for his violence "I'm
not gonna live that way" Rog admits he was wrong for letting her see his
true colors, and says he loves her. Dinah doesn't believe him. Hart looks
on. (Note: I believe Hart was looking on for most of the Roger/Dinah
scenes that follow, as well, however, I didn't happen to catch a glimpse
of him anytime I glanced at the screen between typing so I haven't
referred to him again. Use your imaginations. I'm sure we'll see plenty
of this babe in the upcoming months.)

CEDARS
Lucy and A-M see Wyatt and ask about results. He says it'll be another 90
minutes.<Oh, whatever will we talk about for 90 minutes!>

LAB
Brent has the vial of blood in his hands, Reva comes in and he spills it.
Brent says, "I'm going to kill you". (Note: Brent is not in his MB garb
for any of the scenes today - a nice change of pace, since everything else
about these MMM scenes today is predictable, repetitive and rehashed)

ROLL LIGHTHOUSE

LAB
Brent pushes Reva around a bit because she looks like a black bird. Reva
says "what is the matter with you" and "let me go" then she wacks him a
good one and runs out. Here's hoping she does the same with Alan later on
at the love nest. Looks like Brent hurt his head. He mops the blood off
the floor and dumps the bloody mop in a closet. Sounds like the broken
vial had HIV+ blood in it because Brent starts searching through the
remaining vials saying "I need another positive...positive..where's a
positive". So we now know that there is HIV+ blood on the floor of the
lab, not to mention the mop. Hmmm...wonder if they'll make any future
story out of this.

BOARDING HOUSE Van and Matt enter and Marcus follows shortly. Marcus
starts yelling ... today's excuse for yelling is...Van and Matt are just
here to convince him to go back to the Towers. They say, no, they're here
to see Peter, so Marcus calms down. (BTW, this Petey reference was just a
tease, so don't get your hopes up. Our favorite two-foot tall charmer did
not appear today.) They ask about Dinah and what Rog did to her and Marcus
tells them. Vanessa seems relieved that Rog didn't hit her, but still
worried about Dinah. Marcus and Van discuss their worries about Dinah if
she stays with Rog.

PARK
Rog says he loves Dinah with all his heart and he bought her a bracelet/
necklace to prove it. Dinah says it looks expensive so of course she
starts to forgive him, then changes her mind. Rog says he doesn't blame
her...and gives her the old line about not being able to get close to
people...staying detached to keep from getting hurt. He can take the
enmity of all of SF, even of Holly and Hart...but he couldn't handle
losing her. She's his last chance at happiness. He couldn't bare losing
her. Yeah, I guess I buy that line. What ever would you do without that
whining, smirking, sneering bimbette on your arm, Rog? Now on to the
commercial for a few more words we can trust...

ALAN'S LOVE NEST Well, since this is the first Reva/Alan scene I've
watched in two weeks (not since my last update) forgive me if I record
this scene in detail, because I'm sure it will all seem fresh and new to
me, while I understand if those of you who have been watching these scenes
faithfully every day may want to speed read through this portion of the
update. Okay, here goes. Take it Alan and Reva! Reva arrives home to
find Alan there. She tells Alan about her encounter with Brent, and she
seems a bit upset. Alan asks what he looked like. Reva says he had a,
'Wild and crazy kind of look'. Reva's worried about Abigail being there
with that lunatic and Alan promises to take care of everything.

LAB
The tech comes back and asks Brent what he's doing there. Of course,
Brent who can do no wrong it seems, manages to come up with an explanation
that satisfies the typical dimbo Cedars employee. Then coincidentally
they get to discussing Lucy's test, which the tech is planning to take
care of himself. Brent pouts of course since he was really looking
forward to dragging this test thing out until sometime next Spring, but
no, I guess this story is finally going to creep and slither it's way to
the finish line - at least this part of the story. Nope, sorry Brent,
your test switching days are over. Find a new line of work - maybe Rog
will hire you to off the whiner!

WYATT'S OFFICE
A-M paces. Wyatt makes idle chat with Lucy, who is wearing that braid
thing again. She tells a story about Buzz and a chicken. They all laugh.
Lucy asks Wyatt how he stays so strong. He says one day at a time. He
tells her about his counselor who died of Aids six months ago. I kinda
like this Wyatt. Hope he sticks around GL for a while and we see some
interaction with Susan and the HIV group, maybe Lucy and Buzz could do
some volunteer work with the Aids program.... Alan-Michael gets to sit in
the background and watch most of this scene. <In fact, A-M had very little
to do in any of the scenes today. Hmmmpph! > Lucy manages to maintain
eye-contact with Wyatt longer than she ever has with A-M. Wyatt leaves
and the fun couple kiss.

LAB
Wyatt comes into the lab and gives the tech a hard time.

WYATT'S OFFICE
Brief shot of Lucy and A-M, then Lucy leaves.

LAB AGAIN
Wyatt keeps putting pressure on the tech and says he's going to wait till
the test is done, (Wyatt seems to be the only character in this HIV story
with any brain power) so Brent leaves. He walks out to the hall and
throws his gloves into the trash. Lucy walks right by Brent and he turns
his back so of course she doesn't recognize him. Gosh, a little suspense
there for a minute. Here I really thought Brent was going to be exposed.

PARK Rog and Dinah. Rog asks, "Am I so vicious and cruel?" <rant on>
Well... you had to ask, didn't you Rog. Yeesss!!! You are vicious and
cruel for marrying this whiner and forcing us to sit through her endless
smirking and sneering in order to see *you*. <rant off> Rog then accuses
her of never really loving him. She yells at him for treating her like she
wasn't human. He says its because she took the one thing that was
precious to him. <What, his credibility as a character?> She says he
scared her. He asks if she thinks the rest of the world is right about
him. She says she felt as though she'd been beaten even though he didn't
touch her. She felt empty. More empty than she ever felt in her life.
He apologizes profusely. He understands. She knows him better than
everybody. He never lost his temper with her before, Rog says, "Don't
listen to Marcus. I'm the one person who will always be there for you."

BOARDING HOUSE Van and Matt discuss how to get Dinah, 'away from that
geek'. But how? Van doesn't want to get caught up in all that again.
Marcus says he's not going to give up on Dinah. Frank and Cutter arrive
and they want to talk to Marcus about the theft at Hamp's club. Nola
enters (heck, Nola and Cutter would have made a cute couple) Marcus yells
at Cutter - a real departure for Marcus, hmmm... such creativity in the
writing we have here. Bet this isn't a Pete Rich day. Marcus tells
Cutter to search the whole place, because he didn't steal the money.

Commercial

BOARDINGHOUSE
Nola stops Frank from looking through Marcus' case. (Gee, Nola and Frank
might make a cute couple, too). Cutter explains to Nola what happened.
Nola is yelling at Cutter, defending Marcus. Vanessa defends Marcus too.
Cutter says Hamp doesn't want to press charges, just wants the money back.
Nola tells Cutter that Marcus' father is Griffin Williams. Marcus rants
about the effects of racism on young black men in the US. Nola and Cutter
look so cute together. He's about two feet taller than she is - I love
that in a man!! Nola offers Marcus a beer and he... ..... hey, I just
thought of a new game. I won't tell you what Marcus does here. You have
to guess! E-mail your answers to me and the names of the winners will be
posted on RATSC and the discussion list.

PARK
Rog asks Dinah if she loves him, and if she believes he loves her. The
whiner BELIEVES HIM!!! But... she wants some guarantees that this will
never happen again. She starts making a list. For future offenses, Roger
will have to pay Dinah: for busted furniture- $5,000, for lies- $20,000,
if he's mean to Marcus - she gets Rog's half of WSPR. Well, it's nice to
know where your values are Dinah. Violence is okay as long as you get a
payoff. How much do you want if he beats you up? And, of course, once
again the writers have allowed the nouveau whiner to triumph at the
expense of the Dodger. Way to warm the hearts of long-time viewers PTBs!
Nothing I like more than to see some bimbette newcomer get one-up on my
long time favs!!! Well, at least let's hope the writers have changed
their minds and are not going to make Roger a wife-beater after all.
Surely, they wouldn't set up this little cutesy scene in the middle of a
domestic violence story, WOULD THEY? Now, I realize the level of
insensitivity achieved by the current regime is boundless, but even they
wouldn't do something like that...no...I'm sure not.

ALAN'S LOVE NEST
More discussion about the usual...hospital, Abigail, thanks from Reva to
Alan. No thanks comin' at ya from this direction, Al baby. One saving
grace in this scene is that at least Reva has the white bonnet on, instead
of that blackbird thing she was wearing at the hospital. Reva then says
she's going to bed and tries to show Alan the door, at which point he
reveals that he plans to stay there...tonight and every night. Gee, is
this the first night since Reva and Alan got back to SF? Why does it seem
like years from this side of the TV screen??????

COMMERCIAL

ALAN'S LOVE NEST
They argue about - guess what. (Again, E-mail your answers) He explains
why he should stay...all the expected excuses etc. blah, blah Reva says
no, Alan says yes etc. etc. Gee is the chemistry between these two always
this electric, or is it only every other Tuesday?

BOARDING HOUSE
Nola and Marcus discuss what happened tonight. Finally....a scene between
two characters who have NEVER had a scene together before. Well, what
brought this on! An oversight, I'm sure. Don't let this happen again
PTBs. We only want to see Reva/Alan, Lucy/A-M, Dinah/Roger, Josh/Annie
scenes from now until we're all ready for the retirement home. Just can't
get enough of those eight people! I mean that's why we all watch soaps
with a cast of 30, right? So we can see the same eight people,
interacting only with their designated partner, every day for six months
straight!!!! Okay, back to the scene at hand.

Nola sympathizes with Marcus and says she always felt out of step with
apple pie America too. They discuss their need to stand up for themselves
and how they both love sticking it to those judgmental, self-righteous
jerks. But...ah, hah...Nola has a hidden agenda here. This is her way of
getting Marcus to take a look at himself and the chip on his shoulder,
because...she says, "I always wondered if it was worth it in the long run,
or if I wasn't just hurting myself." Marcus takes it well. Gosh that
Marcus has a cute smile. Wish we'd see it more often. Ditto Nola. On my
ideal soap, Nola and Marcus would become friends and have similar cozy
little charming and well-acted chats together at least once a week. But
more than likely on real GL we'll never see these two together again in a
scene. Viewers are advised to save this scene for posterity as it will
probably become a collectors item.

WYATT'S OFFICE
Lucy and A-M discuss the same old stuff they've been talking about for the
last three months. Same words, just watch some old tapes if you want
details.

BRENT'S ROOM
Brent has a temper tantrum. "WHY CANT THESE STUPID LITTLE PEOPLE LEAVE ME
ALONE." <rant on> Believe me, here's one little person who would LOVE to
leave you alone, Brent, and I usually do when I'm not doing the update and
forced to sit through this garbage. Hopefully, we'll be leaving you alone
permanently, sometime before the next millenium. <rant off> Brent stares
at his Lucy memorabilia, and then notices that he got some blood on his
shoes. He starts freaking out.

VANESSA AND MATT
Vanessa looks worried for about two minutes, while music plays in the
background. Matt tells her not to worry. They're sitting on their bed so
they of course go into a clinch and fall out of camera range.

PARK
Dinah and Rog and the agreement again. Gee, I wonder if Rog will agree.
Real build up of suspense here. What do you know, he signs it. Dinah
says she loves a man who puts his money where his mouth is. <Hopefully
they didn't kiss, did they? I wasn't watching as I was busy typing - one
advantage to doing the update is not having to watch Roger/Dinah kissing
scenes.> They go home.

WYATT'S OFFICE
The results are - Lucy's negative. They all hug and laugh. All you Lucy
lovers can breath a sigh of relief. <All you Lucy *haters* can also
breathe a sigh of relief, because now there's a slight chance that they'll
give Lucy a break storywise for a day or two>.

BRENT'S ROOM
He puts all of his bloody clothes in garbage bags and stuffs them in the
trash can. Then he rants about Lucy a bit. What a perfect ending to this
particularly imperfect GL day!

THE END
