GUIDING LIGHT TOO BAD IT'S MONDAY
(OR TUESDAY) UPDATE FOR NOV. 6, 1995
                OR
IS IT STILL HALLOWEEN IN S'FIELD DAY ?

TBIMOT HIGHLIGHTS:
The TOWERS is hopping but the FASHION
   POLICE are sorely needed
MMM and CUTTER cut the light fantastic
Confrontation with ROGER has troubling
   consequences for MARCUS
BLAKE has it out with AMANDA in the
   Ladies
DINAH meets an interesting stranger in
   the night
LUCY and AM sweat out the results of her
   HIV test again
Abigail goes goo-goo over DR. RICK
ALAN tries to convince REVA of his
   devotion again
BRENT is foiled in his attempts to
   penetrate Cedars again

LET THE SHOW BEGIN

ALAN'S HIGH TECH PAD:
Revecca comes downstairs and tells Alan
that she doesn't need a watchdog. Alan,
playing it cool reading with a brandy
snifter in hand, feigns indifference.
Revecca informs him that the decision to
inform Josh and the children is hers and
no one else's. When Alan proclaims his
agreement, Revecca wants to know why he
is guarding the door. Alan claims it is
because he loves her, but Reva looks
skeptical.

TOWERS CLUB:
The Towers is hopping tonight and a lot
of the action takes place in various
parts of the room.
I will attempt to describe each person's
garb and hair (if it is different than
usual) as they first appear.

Clarion's (Cutter and Marion) table:
[Thanks to Shawn from the Disclist for
the term Clarion.
Cutter is nicely dressed with his
several weeks old receding hairline
style that Buzz also has. 3M actually
looks sort of nice tonight with a blue
cocktail dress that is flattering to her
figure.]
At one table, Cutter suggests dancing to
3M. [S]he tries to beg off as "rusty,"
but Cutter talks her into it. He leads a
humming MMM, giggling about the need for
more wine, away. At an adjacent table
Frank fumes to Eleni about Cutter
suspending him and then following up his
lead. Eleni thinks that maybe Patrick is
just being nice to a very lonely woman.
[Frank looks as per usual, but Eleni is
very pretty and her hair is straight]

Ladies Room:
[Blake is wearing a red dress with
strategically placed feathers--my
daughter wore something like this in the
Will Rogers Revue this summer and called
it her powder puff dress. Amanda is
grotesque beyond belief. She is sporting
a bun that makes her look like a
Mousekeeter--and with her white dress
all she needs is Annette across her
bosom to make it complete. Her makeup
has been ladled on with a trowel.]
Blake wants an answer to her question:
"What do you want with my husband?"
Amanda (a.k.a. as Fifi) falls back on
her "old friends" routine, but Mrs.
Blossie isn't buying it. She counters
with "margarine may melt in your mouth,
but I'm on to you." Fifi acts
incredulous that Blake is threatened by
her and wonders if Ross has been
unfaithful to her--what on earth has
made her so insecure? Blake hotly denies
that Ross has been unfaithful or that
she is insecure. When Amanda says that
is good since it wouldn't appeal to
Ross, Blake says she ought to belt her.

Over by the Bar:
Matt, Van and Ross confront Roger about
his search for Hart. Ross and Van press
him hard on why he's looking. When Rog,
justifiably I think, asks them to stay
out of his personal life, a heavy handed
Matt orders Rog to answer his wife. Van
states that it is obvious: he's after
Peter and the only way to get to him is
through Hart.

ROOSEVELT PARK:
The stranger picks up Dinah's bag. Dinah
wonders why he's following her and who
the hell he is.

TWIRL LIGHTHOUSE

THE TOWERS CLUB:
Lucy and AM enter the club.
[Lucy is wearing a harem type getup and
sporting a hairdo that features a
ponytail and fake braid. AM, usually a
fashion plate, is wearing an ill-fitting
shirt and checked jacket, and his hair--
ringlets are falling over his brow ala
Napoleon, he looks ready for his
coronation. My hubby wonders how
realistic it is that they (esp. AM)
would mess around with new hairdos while
so worried about her HIV test.]
Lucy spots Clarion dancing (fortunately
offscreen--I don't think I could have
taken that). AM calls it a strange
pairing. When Lucy says that stranger
things have happened, AM challenges her
to name one. AM tells Lucy about Nick
and Susan's take on 3M, but Lucy thinks
that Susan just doesn't understand her.
She does since they have both been
through similar nightmares and survived.
3M and Cutter ask AM and Lucy to join
them.

Cut to the Ladies:
Amandaconda continues to act dumb about
her actions with Ross. Amanda (a.k.a. as
Vampira) shares her hard-won knowledge
that when a woman begins to feel
insecure about her husband she opens up
a Pandora's box, and causes trouble for
herself and those around her. She tells
Blake that she should start acting like
Ross loves her even if she doesn't
believe it. Blake tells Vampira that
Ross loves her "more than life." When
Blake contends that A. is going to run
to Ross and tell him about their convo,
Amanda denies it saying that she doesn't
want to embarrass him. Blake says she
doesn't mind since Ross understands her,
but Fifi asks if Ross would be happy to
hear that his wife had acted jealous and
nearly alienated a high priced client.
As Amandaconda exits, Blake admits the
validity of her words.

ROOSEVELT PARK:
NewHart (a.k.a. as Bob) reminds Dinah of
their earlier meeting. Dinah recalls
that he is one of the high priced
investigators trying to find Rog's son:
"Hart Jessup--the precious son." Bob
tells Di that he is looking for Thorpe
and "since most wives usually know
where their husbands are unless they're
having problems" maybe she can help.
Dinah wonders how long he's been a P.I.-
10 minutes?

 TOWERS CLUB:

At the Bar:
Rog points out that Peter is his family
too, and whoever said he was looking for
Hart is a liar. Marcus appears and tells
Rog to say that to his face.

ADS:
Peter hawks the delights of Apple-
Cinnamon Cheerios.
3M prances about in "Fruit of the
Loom" briefs.

ALAN'S PAD:
Reva doesn't want to hear it. She
doesn't want to have to deal with Alan's
timing or his feelings. Alan rubs it in
about her hard day--watching her family
with a soon to be wife and mother must
hurt very deeply. Reva thanks Alan for
pointing that out to her, she might have
missed it. Alan tries to convince her it
wasn't an "I-told-you-so"; that he
doesn't enjoy seeing her in pain. Reva
tells him she had to see her husband and
children, her life. She pays lip service
to Dylan--and says he doesn't need her
anymore since he's grown up, but it's
different with Marah and Shayne. Alan
says that they have gone own with their
lives the same way she went on with
hers. Reva sarcastically reminds Alan
that she lost her memory, it doesn't
mean that she should have to lose them.
Reva wonders if Alan thinks this is
payback for being so selfish--an unfit
mother? Alan thinks she is very capable
and loving, but she is at a crossroads,
and it wouldn't be the worst thing in
the world to choose happiness.
Reva,"I knew you'd pull this. Your
answer to everything is that I should
just ride off into the sunset with you.
You've been at me about it for weeks."
Alan claims he wants her to be sure she
has made the right decision for Marah
and Shayne. He says he will let her go,
but it won't stop him from loving her.
Reva announces she is going to the
hospital to see Charlotte and Abigail.
When Reva wonders if Alan isn't going to
warn her about running into Annie, Alan
is surprising passive. Reva knows it is
because Annie is off duty tonight.
Alan, "That too."
Reva, "You are a piece of work,
Alanspaulding."
Alan, "You too, Revashayne."

CEDARS HOSPITAL:
Abigail's Room:
Dr. Rick enters (still wearing his
Halloween tie--maybe that explains some
of those hairstyles at the Towers!).
Abigail tells him (through sign language
and her Mother) that she wants him to be
her doctor. Rick explains that she needs
a specialist. When Abigail tells her Mom
she wants a snack, Rick offers to stay
with her while Mrs. Blume (armed with
Rick's quarters) goes to the snack
machines. Rick tries out the two signs
he knows: hello and thank you. He does
his own sign: the food here stinks (he
holds his nose). He tries to explain the
medical equipment to Abigail through
charades.

TOWERS CLUB:
Clarion's Table:
Cutter is beeped and leaves 3M with AM
and Lucy. Lucy and 3M pratter on about
how sweet and cute Patrick is. Good old
3M brings up the HIV test and wonders
how the computer could have made such a
horrible mistake. AM vows if someone
broke into the system and changed Lucy's
results, he will find out who it is and
when he does they'll wish they were
dead.

By the Bar:
Rog baits Marcus by calling him a free
loader. Marcus rises to the occasion,
calling Rog an old man. Vivian, at a
table with Charles, Gilly and fauxDavid
comments on what a rude young man he is.
FauxDavid defends his friend. Calling
him Roger-Dodger, Marcus tells Rog that
his plan to get his mitts on his
grandson is now in the open. Rog claims
all he wants to do with Peter is love
him. Baiting Van and Ross, Rog says even
after being married to Dinah a short
time, it is plain what lack of love and
parental guidance has done to her. When
Rog claims he doesn't want to make their
mistakes with his own children, Ross
points out that Blake doesn't want to
have anything to do with her old man.
Rog claims she will get over that
because she knows that he has loved her
unconditionally all her life. Matt
points out that Rog's son got as far
away as possible but Rog claims that's
because "you all turned him against me,
but when I find him he's going to learn
the truth--that I have loved him
unconditionally since I learned I had a
son unlike parents that only love their
children when they follow orders." He
claims Dinah is a mass of insecurities
because of "these two right here."
Marcus explodes: he's a liar and a
coward. Dinah is insecure because of
Rog--he has made her scared when she
never was before. Marcus swears if Rog
comes close to doing it again he'll pay.
Hamp tries to calm Marcus, but the
hothead quits his job when Hamp presses
him to cool it. Rog is enjoying all this
immensely and asks Hamp if he can't
control his help.

HALF-TIME

TOWERS CLUB:
By the Bar:
Hamp is still trying to get Marcus to
knock it off. David tries to intervene,
but Marcus keeps hurling threats and
invites Rog to fight. Hamp wants to know
if he has a death wish. If he keeps it
up, employee or not, Hamp will have to
teach him a lesson. Marcus wonders if
Hamp is deaf--and quits again. Since
Marcus insists on being a fool, Hamp
instructs Max the bartender to pack his
things up. Rog notices that Max has left
the cash register open and unattended,
and next to it is Marcus's sax case.
Ross and Van thank Marcus, but try to
get him to calm down until Thorpe is
gone.

Ladies:
Eleni enters to find Blake pacing. Blake
tells her she just made an ass of
herself in front of Ross' gorgeous (her
words, not mine) client. She tells Eleni
that Amanda will use this to make Ross
see how wrong she is for him. Eleni
protests that Bloss are perfect for each
other--next to she and Frank, they have
the best marriage she knows. Blake
thanks her, but mutters that Eleni
doesn't even like her.
With a "Blake, Blake, Blake" an
immensely likable newEleni tries to
comfort her.
Blake, " I'm a nervous wreck. I look
like an ostrich or something. I've gotta
go out there and sit next to this siren
who's perfect."
Eleni tells Blake she will have her
looking like new before the band starts
the next number.
[That's probably quite likely
considering that Hamp and Marcus are
somewhat too busy to strike up a new
tune.]

At the Bar:
Rog makes his move, grabs the big bills
out of the register and puts them in
Marcus' sax case.

ROOSEVELT PARK:
Bob tells Dinah that he is newly
assigned to the case. Eurotrash is once
again smoking like a chimney. Bob wants
to know why Rog is so hot to find his
son. Whinah tells Bob she's not too
crazy about finding her stepson--she's
sick of hearing about him. Bob wonders
what he's ever done to her. Whinah
claims Hart is ruining her life--she and
Rog have only been married for a month
and he hasn't stopping yapping about
Hart this, Hart that. She stops herself
to asks why she is doing this. When Bob
wonders if her query is about the
ciggies, she says, "No, I'm talking to
you. Why aren't you asking these
questions to my husband?" Bob claims it
is because her hubby is not as pretty as
she is. When Whinah wonders how he knows
she is pretty since it is dark, Bob
claims he can tell from the light in her
eyes.
Dinah, "I'm a married woman and I don't
fool around."
Bob, "Neither do I."
Dinah stops to contemplate that one.
[I guess Bob is judging Whinah's
prettiness by the one eye that remains
uncovered, since her do, although not as
bad as some of the others, makes her
look like Darla in Our Gang comedies, or
a sheepdog in need of a trim. Bob is
sort of sporting a slicked back biker
look with one strand artfully falling
over his face.]

CEDARS HOSPITAL:
Abigail's Room:
Rick scares Abby while trying to
demonstrate the hospital bed. He gives
her the non-tech explanation of how TV
works. Abigail wonders if he is going to
being doing her tests tomorrow. She
becomes upset when she finds out it will
be Dr. Wicker, the specialist. Rick
promises to check in, and begins to
wonder if he shouldn't have been the one
to go get the crackers.
Revecca, in full AmishRegalia looks in,
sees Dr. Rick and hides until he is
paged. Abigail is very happy to see
Revecca and tells her how much she likes
Dr. Rick. Abigail wants to know if
Revecca loves Alan--and what true love
means and how you know it when it
happens.

TOWERS CLUB:
Matt and Van's Table:
[In deference to the MV Wing at the BFC,
I will not use the offensive term,
Mattessa.]
Matt tells Van not to worry about Rog.
Van says she wishes she felt as
confident. Matt asks her if she thinks
her husband would lie to her. Van says,
"I don't know. Would you?" [Shades of
Amandaconda rearing her ugly head here?]
They go through the usual goo-goo talk
of newlyweds, but on them it's cute.
Vanessa," You made me forget my own
name."
Matt, "You've got a new one now."

Bloss Table:
Ross returns to his table and asks Fifi
where Blake is. She mentions the Ladies,
and Ross distractedly answers her
queries about dessert, but it is obvious
he wants to look for Blake. He finds her
and wonders if something happened, and
if that something was Amanda. Blake
tells Ross that she is the problem. Ross
assumes Blake is still upset about the
negative pregnancy test. Ross vows to
have every test known to man [or Dr.
Sedgwick.] Amandaconda is lurking near
them, and sees Bloss embracing. With a
sneer she returns to their table, and
the chocolate mousse.

Clarion's Table:
3M wonders why Lucy isn't on pins and
needles. [She probably used every pin in
S'field on that hairdo!] Lucy tells her
she is trying not to think about it. 3M
finds out that Lucy will get the results
later that night--or by tomorrow she
will know at the latest.
AM notes that the law is returning.
Cutter tells them there was a problem at
the station, but he doesn't want to bore
them. Lucy says Cutter could never be a
bore--Marion sure doesn't think so. AM
steers Lucy away, saying he's had his
eye on a table opposite.
Cutter pours more wine and hopes 3M
didn't feel abandoned. His arm is draped
over the banquette, and he is so
gallant. 3M says Lucy and AM were
wonderful company, but it's getting to
be about time to leave. Cutter tries to
present his gift certificate to Hamp,
but Hamp tells him he needs help--
someone has just cleaned out the
register. Cutter tells him not to let
anyone leave--Marion is an exception
since she's with him. 3M looks at the
fake Cedars badge--it's time to use it.

ADS:

TOWERS CLUB:
By the Bar:
Gilly tells Marcus if he apologizes she
is sure that her ex will give him back
his job. Marcus tells her he meant it--
he quits. When he points out she works
for Thorpe, she tells him she knows
better than anyone else why he'd want to
hit him but it's not going to solve
anything.

Grant's table:
Gilly returns to Charles and Viv's table
and notes that Marcus has an enormous
chip on his shoulder. Viv wants to know
who raised this person with appalling
manners, and David tells her it's one of
her heroes, the civil rights activist
and possible Senate candidate, Griffin
Williams. Viv looks shocked, speechless
for once.

At the Bar:
Hamp tells Cutter and Frank that someone
took tonight's take. Cutter wonders who
had access to the register. Max says
only one other person besides them--
Marcus helped make change.

CEDARS HOSPITAL:
Abigail's Room:
Reva tells Abigail she asks tough
questions. She tells her love is a
feeling you have for someone that
doesn't quit, it grows--sometimes
quickly, sometimes slowly. Abigail
wonders if it could happen to her.
Revecca tells her it depends on the
people. When R. asks if Abby thinks it
could happen to her, Abigail nods.
Charlotte enters bearing juice and
crackers. She tells Revecca about the
machine that feeds you when you give it
coins. Abigail is delighted, but she
doesn't have a clue about how to open
the carton. Revecca wants to stay but
Charlotte tells her there is only one
cot, and it is decided that Charlotte
will spend the night. Charlotte tells
her to be careful going back--but
Revecca says nothing will happen to her
in a hospital.

In the Lab:
Wyatt asks the tech what it would take
to get him to do Lucy's test next. The
tech, wearing blue rubber gloves, says
even dinner and dancing wouldn't help
there is such a backlog. He promises to
have the results on Wyatt's desk by
midnight. He says he hopes they are
better than this poor guys--and labels a
blood vial with an orange biohazard
sticker. Wyatt tells him to hurry up and
he'll love him forever. The tech whines
that the least Wyatt could have done was
bring him coffee. Wyatt leaves, and we
see a janitor gyrating to a walkman in
the corridor. The tech pulls off his
gloves as he leaves to go get the swill
from the machines. Enter Brent, dressed
in a white shirt and tie topped by a
white lab coat. He really looks like he
needs a shave. [It really seems like
Brent has done a quick change here--when
did he have time to go home? Does Brent
always put on that mask with such a
heavy beard underneath? Inquiring minds
want to know.]

him and asks him his name. We hear Rog
calling for Dinah. Bob hides in the

says that she came into the Park an hour
ago, and it's dangerous to be alone at
this hour. Dinah tells him not to worry.
She hasn't been alone, and he has paid
for her company. Rog doesn't know what
she's talking about. Dinah turns around
to see Bob is gone--but we see he is
still lurking.

TOWERS CLUB:
Marcus goes off on one of his tirades
about being accused by the cops. Hamp
thinks that although he's a hothead,
he's not a thief. Marcus says that
unless they are prepared to arrest him,
he's out of there.

CEDARS LAB:
Brent is studying the layout, and in his
Marion voice compliments its order. He
picks up a vial of blood with the
biohazard sticker. Outside we see Reva
startled at Rick's approach. Brent plans
to switch the blood sample of this
positive guy with Lucy's. As he chortles
to himself that this is too easy, Reva
bursts in. Brent is startled and drops
the vial which shatters at his feet. He
snarls, "You idiot" at Reva, and she
is speechless.
