Status: R

Matt and Vanessa have taken their act to a quiet Italian restaurant
on the fringes of town, the better to plan strategy regarding (possible)
dissemination of information to their families about their RO-mance.
The Dynamic Duo are greeted by Mama Rosa, an Italian-American with a
hint of an accent and definite "Old Country" speech rhythms, who reminds
me of a cross between Yoda and Anna Magliani (see: "The Rose Tattoo). :)
Mama Rosa seats them, and takes prescient notice of their closeness:
"...the (table's) candle burns bright for you already..." (1)

M & V eat and chat, and are paid another visit by Rosa in short
order:
"Food is _just_ like love: when things come together and they
are _just_ right, you must enjoy; you must savor it.
          But if it gets cold, the magic can go out of the mix;
mange (man-ja) --- MANGE! (eat, EAT!)" [OTF!]

[This blantant plug for oral sex brought to you by
Time/Life Books, publishers of "The Tao of Mama Rosa"]

Vanessa and Matt play with their pasta and breadsticks (eating a few
bites, too), and more chat ensues:
V: "I can't imagine my life without you..."
M: "Better go easy on the wine..." [:)))]
V: "...we better be careful or the magic might disappear..."
   M: "I don't think so..."    {tenderly kisses her left hand}

They rehearse telling various members The News, starting with Henry
(Matt plays the role, ending every sentence w/"...dah-ling...". ;) ).
[It's noted that Henry had a younger girlfriend, once.]
   [...]
   M: "What about Bridget??"
V: "That's going to be RICH!"
   [...]
V: "...I'll line up everyone at Lewis Oil and tell
them, and if they don't like it, I'll shoot them!"
[see: "The Tao of Vanessa: Corporate Information
              Dissemination For The Nineties" ]

Matt offers, but doesn't have enough cash to pay for dinner, and Van
has not brought her credit cards [!], so she bops up to make a
withdrawal from a nearby cash machine. And runs smack into Mr. and Mrs.
Taggart, he of the Spaulding board (?).
Taggart: "Are you with your father?"
Vanessa: "No...(pointing to Matt); I'm with _him_..."
In a rather ugly scene (suggesting some type of impropriety on
'Nessa's part), Taggart promises to "keep things quiet..."

   So much for dessert...

Buzz and Neigh-Dong are in their van on the road - freezing their
buns off. She wants to go home, and during convo spots an exit, grabbing
the wheel when Buzz refuses to turn off! They narrowly avoid colliding
with a truck.
Some reminiscing ensues, they run out of gas, and make it to a nearby
inn. True to their, um, karma, "there are no rooms at the inn": seems
it's "Moose Mountain Hunting Festival" time. ;))
Aided by prompting from Buzz (consisting of grabbing Nadine's face in
his hands and remarking "Haven't you seen this face before?!"), the
proprietor finally recognizes Neigh-Dong from her SoulMates stint, and
warmly welcomes the national champions. :)

The Buzz-man lies, and tells the guy they're on a tour checking out
the hospitality-factor of inns across the country --- the owner runs to
check on the status of room availability.
Soon, folks are lining up for B&N autographs. But still no rooms at
the inn. :) Buzz suggests they sleep in the van.
   Nadine: "In November?!!"
Buzz: "...I'll keep you hot...there's no way this (road trip)
isn't going to work - unless you know something I don't..."

A couple (woman is still wearing her wedding veil) storms into the
lobby in full-argument mode. Break-up City. Seems a honeymoon suite has
just become available... ;)

Ross and Blake's Palace of Delights.
Blake is pacing the living room like a pit bull out of Prozac, deeply
concerned that her husband is going to be left "holding the bag" as
regards Alexandra's missing $1 million escrow account.
The Blake-ster, in mere minutes, correctly guesses that Alan is
probably behind the entire caper.
Ding-dong. Holly. Pissed-off because Roger has run off on her again
to further plans against Alex. Blake offers to make tea and disappears
into the kitchen.
Ross: "...herbal; anything that grows makes it into our teapot..." (2)

Roger finally arrives, and promises not to take Holly for granted
anymore. They, in turn, take their act home and make out like banshees.
   [In bed, post-whappa session #1:
Holly: "...My _goodness_; what got into YOU?!"
Roger's answer summed up neatly: whappa session #2 :) ]

Meanwhile, Blake has high-tailed it ([Groucho accent: ON] ...and I'd
pay big bucks for a literal interpretation of that scene [Groucho: OFF])
over to the bank for some nocturnal "detective work".
Using a flimsy cover (doing research for a new company - they want to
check out aspects of bank security), she learns that the bank keeps all
of the security cam footage on file [! -(3)]. She spots a bank of dated
tapes on a nearby table, and pilfers the target tape when the very tired
(female) official leaves the room for a bit (leaving behind an empty
cassette case).

   Alan's Lair.
Suse and Alan are fencing again --- The Big A suddenly reaches for
his desk and flings documents in Susan's face, allowing him to score a
"hit" (touch) [!] (wow, dig that resonance, mahn...).
Alexandra shows up, and Susan (putting on her faceguard) is passed
off as "Francois, a shy fencing instructor". [OTFFF! - a "shy fencing
instructor w/ a ponytail and hips that belie an ability to populate a
nation]
Alex: "..did you learn to fence in prison, Alan?"
Alan: "I learned many things in prison, Alex,
but fencing wasn't one of them..." [;)]

Talk turns to Alex's evesdropping on Roger's phone convo w/Holly at
Matriarch Mansion (no specifics mentioned).
Alan jumps ballistic; Alex warns her brother that he's in no position
to dictate to her: "I'll meter out funds to you when and AS I see fit!"
At that, Alan pulls a "Fred Sanford" and goes into swoon mode. :) He
plays up the "imminent death scenario" to the hilt, with Alex taking the
bait, asking how much time he has left.
   Blah, blah, blah:
Alan: "...come now, Alexandra; you must
          be strong: we're _Spauldings_..."

Yup. And daddy truly abused your asses, emotionally speaking...

With the candle resonance so prominently at the forefront again,
here's an excerpt from one of my posts from '92 that the "newbies" might

Some good news regarding tea in general:

The polyphenols in green tea are preserved far better than in black
(steaming ---> rolling/crushing  vs  boiling/fermenting ---> drying),
but I saw an interesting quote in the Foods section of the 9/29 Chicago
Sun-Times regarding black tea's overall anticarcinogenic properties:

"'Black tea is just as good at fighting disease as green tea', says
researcher John Weisburger of the American Health Foundation. In a new
animal study, he found that black and green tea equally revved up
defense systems to help the body detoxify cancer-causing chemicals.
Those chemicals are then flushed out of the body.
TEA SEEMS TO WORK IN MUCH THE SAME WAY BROCCOLI CHEMICALS DO TO
SUPRESS CANCEROUS CHANGES IN CELLS, he says.
Indeed, Weisburger considers tea as potentially powerful as fruits
and vegetables in warding off cancer. Four or fives cups of tea a day is
the equivalent of consuming two fruits or vegetables..."

[Dr. Paul Talalay, a molecular pharmacologist at Johns Hopkins, found
that the cruciferous compound, sulforaphane, boosts the production
of an enzyme that is known to neutralize carcinogens before they
    trigger tumor growth.
Sulforaphane affects relative concentrations of Phase I and Phase II
enzymes. Phase I's, which normally govern chemical processes involved
in ridding the body of unwanted substances, can activate a carcinogen by
attaching other compounds to it. Phase II's attach still more material
to the newly-activated carcinogen, making it unable to react with
DNA, and rendering it harmless again.]

From Maria Hart - special to the Chicago Tribune 941201
"Melina Kanakaredes: A fresh face for 'NYPD Blue'"

"...(MK) has been cast in two episodes of NYPD Blue...plays a
reporter who meets up w/old flame Bobby Simone (Jimmy Smits)...while
filming, her role on GL will be taken over by Wendy Kaplan beginning
Dec. 9..."

I take it this means we'll get to see Melina's butt a la Sherry
Stringfield's?
   Naked! ;)
