			Guiding Light Update

================================================================================

This week, no fancy opening shots, we just get right down to business...

Alan and Jenna at Alan's:

Jenna is asleep on the couch. Alan puts a breakfast tray (a rose,
a cup of coffee, a bagel, and some milk) on a table and awakens Jenna.
She's confused and he explains she fell asleep helping Howie, and he didn't
have the heart to wake her. She sees the food and says "I should wake up
here more often". They discuss Howie's advancement and they agree he is almost
ready to do his job. Something involving the Spaulding escrow accounts. They
also talk about the rest of their plan, including Vanessa. Alan knows about
Jenna's "duplicity" and forgives her. But he says she must be willing to get
Vanessa's signature for both of their sakes. She agrees as long as Vanessa
will not be harmed. He says of course. But now, he says, it is time to
make the move on Blake.

Blake and Ross:

It's morning and they stand in their door frame looking at the sunrise.
Blake says she has an uneasy feeling, but she won't really describe it. She
just wishes they were in South America right now. Ross is surprised, after all,
Blake didn't seem to excited about the move just yesterday. But Blake says
she is bothered by the look of worry in her mother's eyes (which she saw
during Holly's last attempt to get her to sign Alan's papers).

Ed and Eve:

Ed comes in and finds Eve just waking. He insists that she tell him
what happened the night of Dylan's accident.

Bridget and Dylan:

Dylan pulls down a picture as he walks down to the kitchen of Company.
He gives it to Bridget and she laughs about it. He goes to the fridge to
get a glass of juice, and we focus on Bridget's worried face.

David and Gabriella:

The two of them are at the Dylan's worksite. Gabriella asks "Why'd you
do it?" "I, uh, well, uh, what kind of friend would I be if I let you stay
in jail," etc. Gabriella turns away and says "There is something I have to
tell you."

-----Lighthouse swirls-----------------------------------

Gabby says she has a "thing" about the dark. [Don't the TPTB think this old
routine is finished yet? There is no suspense left in it, IMO.] David says,
oh, but what are they going to do now. They have no money and no place to stay.
Does she have any ideas? She says that "no one has ever risked themselves"
for her, and she thinks that maybe she knows some friends who would be willing
to take her in. David wants to know all about them, but she doesn't want to
share too much. Just enough to tell him that they are shady types. "Do you
trust them?" Yes, she does, and that's enough for David. But he can't come
with her for now. She will ask them and then come back for him. He tells
her to be careful, she kisses him on the cheek, and leaves. The camera focuses
on the extremely evil face of David.

Dylan:

Dylan is on the phone. He thanks his foreman, Jake, for the card the
worker's sent and then asks him to get the boys ready to get back to work. But
it's not that easy. They've all moved on to other jobs. Dylan gets mad, and
insists that it's Jake's job to get them back. He hangs up, and notices Bridget.
He says he is getting good at this "other senses" stuff. He explains to her
that he needs his life back. That he doesn't feel like a man. He asks Bridget
if she will take him out to the worksite, and though she doesn't want to,
she eventually agrees.

Ed and Eve:

Ed spent the night at the lake. He was thinking about the clothes, and
the glass shards in the clothes. "Why was it so vital for you to hide them from
me?" She denies that the glass came from his headlights. She thinks maybe it
was from a broken measuring cup. But he says he knows she thinks she is
protecting him, because she loves him, but he has to know.

She finally tells her story. It was past midnight (when Dylan got
hit) and he hadn't come home. She got worried and went looking for him. She
found him on Country Line Road (where Dylan got hit), slumped over the
steering wheel, with a bump on his head, and smelling of alcohol.

Howie and Alan:

Howie is playing a game boy. "You've been Howied my friend," he happily
tells the little machine. He asks alan if he wants to play. Alan gives him
a look of disgust. [A set down in the Jane Austen style.] Howie pays him
no mind. Jenna comes in and kicks Howie out of the room. Howie doesn't want
to go yet, he's almost got the high score. But she insists and he walks out
saying "Man, I rule this game." [I don't know what the percentage of GL viewers
are video game players, but take it from me, a video game addict, this
performance was brilliant.] Alan is glad to see him go: "It's like having
an obnoxious 7 year old in your house."

Jenna and Alan discuss Alan-Michael and keeping him out of their
dastardly plans. She understands, realizing that she and Alan are both
doing all these horrible things for their children, so she is going to
do whatever he will do. She plans to get back to top of Springfield society,
and this time she will stay there. Alan admires Jenna's vicious sense of
revenge and has no worries about her eventual success. Jenna has gotten
a forging of Ross' signature on the necessary forms, and they are ready to
go.

Ross and Blake:

A man is with them and congratulates them on the new job. He leaves
and Blake jumps and sings. Ross is happy because now they will be able to
get away from Alex and Alan. He is also happy because it will mean a lot of
money. Blake says that "one thing we have Alan will never be able to touch--
love". Ross is a little bit less sure; he's afraid that Alan still has time
to get to them before they get out of town.

Ed and Eve:

Eve continues her story. She tried, but nothing she did could wake
up Ed. So she took him home and called a tow truck. What about Dylan? Did
she see him? No, but Ed realizes that she wouldn't have given where he was
and where she was. Ed is still concerned about why she has hidden all of
this. Because she was worried of what others would think about his being
drunk. That's all. Ed fears that she may be concealing more, and in any
case he needs to turn himself in. She doesn't believe he could have done
it, but Ed points out that "a drunk in a blackout is capable of anything".
Eve begs Ed not to go to the police yet, but to call Ross.

----We go to commercial and when we return, Ross has joined them---

Ross asks for more details. Did Ed say anything? No, and she
can't believe that he could have done it. Ross thinks that going to the
police is not the thing to do. So far all they have is circumstantial
evidence. Ed says that the whole thing is just so obvious. [BTW, the
accident took place "several weeks ago". Interesting time dilations here.]
The others don't see it that way, but Ed thinks they are trying to protect
him from himself. He begs them to let him turn himself into the police.

Frank at his new office:

Frank has an answering machine and he plays it. There is a message
from David telling Frank that Gabby has been taken, by Cutter, to the
police station, and unless Frank calls him soon, David is going to get
her (he thinks he can learn more from her than Cutter can in jail). At that
moment the Detective comes into Frank's office and asks if knows anything
about David's whereabouts. He reminds Frank that he is his employer and is
responsible for his actions. The phone rings and it's David. Frank pretends
to be talking to his landlord and David tells him about Gabriella taking
him to her people. He thinks maybe he can figure this whole thing out. Frank
tries to get him to say where he is, but David won't. They hang up and Cutter
asks "Did David tell you where he was, Frank?"

At the work site:

David is in the background as Bridget and Dylan arrive. "It's quiet,"
Dylan comments. He can tell nothing has changed. The workers have new jobs
and soon the winter will come, and there is no hope. But Bridget says if
necessary she will pick up a pick and build the house herself. David joins
them and says "giving up is not allowed". He explains what is going on with
he and Gabriella--"we could get more use out of here if I busted her out".
Dylan is worried about David; he's sick of others getting hurt due to his
troubles. But David is angry. He's been betrayed and he wants to get back
at her and the hijackers. All of his life has been destroyed to and he insist
that Dylan not "let them win".

Ross, Ed, and Eve:

Ross agrees that eventually he should go to the police, but not yet.
He agrees with Eve, though. There is no way Ed could have done this. "If you
hit someone with your car, you'd have gone back."

Gabriella at Uncle Carlo's:

Gabby tells him about the bust and David's rescue. She says that they
have to help him now. Carlo thinks she may be in love with David. But if
David ever sees him or finds out where they are, he will have to kill them
both.

Company:

Bridget and Dylan have returned. She leaves and Dylan decides to fix
some food himself. He toasts some bread, and gets milk, cold cuts, and mustard
out of the refrigerator. But then he smells the toast burning and burns
himself getting it. He turns around and knocks over the milk and screams in
frustration. Bridget walks in and says it's ok, but Dylan disagrees and goes
upstairs. She calls her Uncle Ed.

Blake and Ross:

Blake has been shopping. She bought her self a "dental floss" bikini
and tickets for their trip to Rio. But Ross looks sad, and he tells her that
he has to stay for Ed.

Alan and Dirk:

Dirk is the man who is supposed to give Ross a job, and it turns
out he works for Alan. Jenna and Howie join him and Dirk is completely fooled.
They never explain to Dirk what is going on, and he ends up unsure of what
he has done.

Gabriella and Carlo:

"Go ahead and kill me if you want to, but I won't let you hurt
David." [Lot you can do to protect him, when you're dead] She says he
is the only decent person she has ever met. She just wants to leave now.
Uncle Carlo won't let her. She thinks then, that David will find her, and
Carlo warns her that he'd better not.

Bridget and Dylan, and Ed and Eve:

They tell Dylan that he needs to stay positive, that everything will
eventually get better.

Ross and Blake:

Ross explains the whole Ed story and Blake is sympathetic. She wants
to go talk to him, but Ross doesn't think that's a good idea. She understands
and she doesn't cry about Rio. "Just as long as I'm with you."

Howie and Jenna at the bank:

Howie, as Ross, takes out all the money and closes the account.
