GUIDING LIGHT
Friday, November 11, 1994

At Alan's lair ...
Vanessa smiles seductively at Alan. "I just wanted a few moments
alone with you." Alan invites her in and she proceeds to tell
him how much she's been thinking of him since she planted the
big, wet, angry one on him. "I guess the old song is true then,"
Alan says. "A kiss is still a kiss ..." Van says it angers her
to be remembering so many things about him.
A: Why are you here, Vanessa, if you don't want to remember?
		V: Damned if I know.

At the boarding house ...
Bridget is frantically preparing for Dylan's homecoming. Matt
tries to warn that she can only do so much and she, like Dylan,
has to be willing to make mistakes and ask people for help.

At Cedars ...
Dylan has dressed himself and is "looking" for his watch. Enter
Ed, Eve, Josh, and Lil. Have wheelchair, will travel. Ed and Eve
wander outside and talk about the situation.
Ed: Does the person who did this know yet? ... to think
there was even half a chance I was responsible ...
	       Eve: Shhhhh.
Ed: ... don't *ever* feel I'm better off not knowing
		    something. Tell me everything. Always.
	Eve looks pale.

At Chez Cooper ...
Buzz sits on the edge of the bed, quite distraught. "Last night
I found out something and it changes things. It changes everything."
	Nadine looks pale.

In the Spaulding board room ...
Alex and son discuss Vanessa and ways to get her "back in line."
Nick hesitates and doesn't want to do anything that will cause
the Lewis family any (more) pain.
A: Vanessa almost married Alan once. Don't underestimate
the influence he's going to have over her.

At Alan's lair ...
Alan gives Van a glass of wine. "To my ... housewarming," he offers
as a toast; Van giggles and flirts. She claims to be disappointed
that he didn't come directly to her and ask for his assets back.
	She tells him he should learn to admit when he needs something;
otherwise, he'll end up very lonely. Then she asks the $64K
question -- will he use the tape against her? He evades and makes
a snide comment about her "twentysomething year-old drifter at
loose ends." Van asks if he's jealous. "Would you like me to
be?" Alan asks with a twinkle in his eye. He offers to cook her
	dinner.

At the Regency ...
Jenna unpacks her catsuit and burglary tools.

At Chez Cooper ...
	Buzz rummages through the closet.
N: I always knew this day would come.
		B: You did?
They go through a classic misunderstanding (as only they can)
and talk circles around the concept of "happiness." Buzz moans
about Alan Spaulding and recalls some story about his whizzing
by them and their broken-down Edsel once. He continues to look
for a shoebox that contains travel info.
B: I gave it my best shot, but I've got to get away
	    	   from here.
	Nadine pouts.

In the Spaulding board room ...
Alex says no one has to know their plan and promises Vanessa will
suspect Alan of any wrongdoing. Nick wants assurances that the
Lewis clan won't get hurt; Alex promises only a "momentary scare."
Enter Mindy. "You didn't forget, did you?" she asks, referring to
Dylan's return to the boarding house. Nick claims he didn't forget
at all; in fact, he and Mom were "just talking about the Lewises."

At the boarding house ...
Bridget and bro' discuss how to handle Dylan. Matt says she should
continue to be the person Dylan fell in love with. Bridget is
incredulous. "You once said you didn't believe in love. What
	changed?"

At Cedars ...
Henry offers to play a Sousa march on his kazoo for Dylan, but
his offer is declined :-) Josh leads the entourage that also
includes Bill, Hamp, and Shayne and tells Dylan that Billy is
there "in spirit." He says he knows how much trouble Dylan is
going to have asking others for help, but he's got to do it.
Bill pipes in with "My soccer coach says you're not a man until
you can accept the support of those around you." [Guess there
aren't any girls on Bill's team, hmmmm?] The Lewis clan departs
and Ed sits, alone, in Dylan's room. Enter Lil, who asks if he's
all right. Just as he proceeds to spill his guts, Eve blasts in
demanding to go home NOW. Seems as though she has a splitting
	headache.

In the garage apartment ...
Eve is quite upset that Ed told Lil about his transgression. She's
really worked up, but Ed tells her he can't have any secrets.
He starts to ask for more details about the night in question.
Where are my clothes? Where did I call you from? Eve blows a
cork and tells him to let it drop. Ed tells her she needs to
get angry and let it all out. He did a horrible thing to her,
after all. Eve finally calms down and says what she's really
upset about is the wedding. She wants to call it off.

At the boarding house ...
	The car bearing Dylan arrives. Bridget says she needs a hug;
Michelle and Matt oblige. Dylan appears in the doorway and
	she hugs him too.

In the Spaulding board room ...
After Nick returns from a call with Tokyo, Mindy is royally
pissed. Alex excuses herself and a fight ensues.
N: The world doesn't stop when one person gets hurt.
M: It does if that person is *my brother*.
Mindy decides to leave without him, and Alex returns. Alex
says it's too bad he can't explain to Mindy what Alan did to him
and why business is so important right now.

At Alan's lair ...
Dinner is over and Van's offer to clean up is politely declined.
Van wants to know what he's hiding in the kitchen. Torture chamber?
State-of-the-art recording studio? She asks for a tour.
A: If you think you are going to find that tape under my
pillow, you are going to be very disappointed.
V: If *you* think I have *any* intention of getting
anywhere *near* your pillow, *you* are going to be very
	 	   disappointed :-)
Alan agrees to begin the tour upstairs. (In "uniform," Jenna enters
	downstairs.)

In Alan's bedroom, Van picks up a book of Portuguese sonnets and
is surprised at Alan's taste. They discuss Machiavelli. (Jenna
finds a strongbox in Alan's desk and picks the lock.) Alan warns
Van that the only way for her to get the tape is to sign over
his assets. She asks him to read his favorite sonnet. (Jenna
	retrieves the tape and exits.)

At Chez Cooper ...
Buzz pleads with Nadine to come out of the bathroom. She opens
the door and starts to ramble on about never being able to take
"no" for an answer, she knew Buzz wouldn't be happy, ... Buzz
	is enchanted.
B: Who else would put up with me asking them to move
away from their friends and family?
N: You want me to go with you?
Buzz finally realizes what she's been thinking. "Oh, Deenie."

In the Spaulding board room ...
Alex explains how they can convince Lewis Oil's bank to call in
some notes. They'll have no time to refinance and Spaulding can
sweep in and bail them out. Nick agrees to the plan.

At the boarding house ...
Michelle fawns all over Matt. (And there's a new BLONDE Peter!
Say it's only temporary!) Dylan decides to get himself some
	juice.

In the garage apartment ...
Eve wants to elope; Ed vetoes her plan. He tells her to take a
shower and he'll make spaghetti. Exit Eve. Ed begins to look
for a big pot and finds an intriguing garbage bag instead. Inside
are his clothes (reeking of alcohol?) and bits of broken glass.
	He sinks to the floor.

At Chez Cooper ...
Buzz asks Nadine if she thought he was going to leave her. Then
he starts talking about where they should go. "When you think
about it, everything's two hours from Springfield!" :-) Nadine
is reluctant to leave the family and her TV show, but she
	finally agrees.

At Alan's lair ...
Alan is alone at his desk. He pulls out the strongbox and realizes
	the tape is gone.

At the Regency ...
Van and Jenna hug after Jenna produces the tape. Jenna warns that
Alan isn't going to give up and next time she won't be able to help
because she won't be able to fit in the catsuit :-) Van tells her all
	is forgiven.

At the boarding house ...
Everyone agrees to let Dylan get himself the juice. He makes it
to the refrigerator, gets the juice, and sets it on the counter.
He has a little more trouble getting a glass, but won't let
Mindy help. He successfully pours the juice into the glass and
	everyone cheers.
Bridget: Don't expect applause every night unless you're
going to do this without a shirt on. :-)

In the garage apartment ...
	Eve returns post-shower.
Ed: Wanna tell me what really happened the night Dylan
		    was hit?
