Hospital:
Ed tells Dylan he can go home. Vanessa and Bridget are kicked out of his
room by a shrink. Ed tells them that Dylan needs to talk to the shrink
because he hasn't begun to deal with what happened to him. The doctor
asks Dylan how he feels & he says fine, but Dr Lyndon asks if he feels
lousy, rotten or mad as hell. When he leaves the hospital he'll have a
lot to handle: with occupational therapy to re-learn on the physical
plane, but emotionally he'll have to deal with the actual action of
violence and the people that did this to him. He'll learn techniques of
self-sufficiency and the teachers will also work with his family. As he
listens we hear him thinking-- "Oh good I'll be a nice ball & chain for
everybody. With a seeing eye dog & a tin cup in my hand." Dr. says
that there's a lot going on inside him: fear, anger, denial just like
earthquake victims. It's a process and you're not alone--anyone who's
suffered a loss or been told about terminal illness goes through this.
"Least then I'd know I was going to die."

Boardinghouse:
Gabriella comes in to Lucy's room to clean it and asks Lucy about the
picture she took, says she wants to have a copy to give to David. Lucy
leaves and Gabriella takes out a rosary and says "help me do this without
hurting anyone". David comes in and asks where she's been. Gabriella
explains why she ran--she could be next on the hit list. David wants to
spend the day with her, but she won't. She starts searching Lucy's room
for the film, but it's not in the camera.

Matt asks Ed where to find Alan Spaulding so that he can find investors
for Dylan's company. Ed tells him to check the country club. Alan and
A-M are eating lunch at the country club and drink a toast to blocking
Nick's presidency vote. A-M leaves to take a call from Tangie. Matt
shows up and introduces himself to Alan. Alan pretends not to know who
he is. Matt asks about bugging Vanessa to get her secrets. Matt
wouldn't mind revealing their secret, but not now because her family
needs her to be someone else. Alan: "that would suggest that she's not
proud of him". Matt asks Alan if she sounded proud, alive, happy, or was
she faking it -- or maybe he's forgotten what it's like to be with a real
woman. Alan tells Matt that "he was engaged to Vanessa before you were
out of diapers". Matt: What does Alan get out of jerking others around--
who's beside him at night, his taperecorder? Does anyone really care if
he lives or dies? Alan: Yes, he risked his life for him. Matt warns
him not to do this to Vanessa-- he doesn't know what he might do.
Susan shows up at the c.c. after receiving a phone call from Nick
(disguising his voice with an accent) saying that Alan's car broke down and
he needs a ride. It was just an excuse to get her out of the house.

Alan and Susan get home to find a party going on, with Alex, A-M, Tangie,
Jenna, Vanessa, Fletcher, Holly, Gilly, and some of the Spaulding board.
Nick comes in after them and put his arms around them and says "Welcome back
from the dead, Sam." Alex tells Alan that this is a welcome home party.
The next guest to arrive is the police commissioner & Nick introduces him
to "Sam". Ross & Blake show up just before Roger does. Alan: "How dare you
invite a creature like this into my home?" Roger: "Prison palor seems to
suit you-- what else did you learn in prison, or isn't it suitable for
mixed company?" Alan: One of these days you'll find out how terrible
prison is. Alex and Fletcher talk about how she's handling Alan. Alex's
parting shot: "How was your date with my son's wife?".

Holly tells Roger that he and Alan put on a good performance for Alex.
Alex introduces Susan to Ross & a board member and pictures are taken.
Blake asks Tangie how long she has known Alan, since Blake followed the
doctor here. Tangie doesn't want to talk about it now because she hasn't
told A-M that she knew Alan at that time. Alex tells Alan to destroy the
video because it's useless. Alan is impressed, "perhaps you're not as
pathetic as I thought". Jenna thanks Alex for dropping the lawsuit.
Nick tells Alex about Buzz, and she says he should have consulted her
first. Alex tries to warn Vanessa that Alan still has cronies on the
board. Vanessa isn't convinced that Alex & Nick should have the company
any more than Alan & A-M.

Hospital:
Mindy is talking to Lillian about moving Dylan home to the Lewis house.
She welcomes the responsibility of being his nurse since Nick is so busy
with Spaulding. Lillian thinks she'll have a fight with Bridget over
that. Eve tells Dylan and Bridget that someone from social services will
come to see what services he'll need. Eve is concerned about mobility,
everyday skills, orientation. Dylan says he can't do anything-- he's
going to be a pain in the butt when he goes home. Bridget "So what else
is new?" Dylan: "Maybe I should be in an institution--I'm blind". Ed
says that Dylan can feel, smell, touch, think. It's what he makes of
what he has left-- millions of other physically-challenged people make
that a reality. We're not talking about the end of your life, we're
talking about where you want to live it. Bridget: "with me". Mindy:
"with us." Mindy & Bridget argue over who's going to "take care of
Dylan", until Dylan breaks in and says he can speak for himself. He's
lost the ability to see, not speak or think. Maybe he could live in both
places, like Peter does. One place that's nice & quiet and the other
place where something is always going on. He doesn't need peace &
quiet-- he needs to go home to the boardinghouse with Bridget. Later he
tells Bridget he doesn't want to be a burden-- she won't let him be one,.
He's going to find out who did this to him.

Boardroom:
Nick gloats to Alex about Alan learning his lesson. Alex says, don't
count on it. She's worried about Vanessa. Nick wonders if Alan has
something on Vanessa. Alex: I almost hope he does-- she's always been
too independent & they should devise a plan to keep her in line. Nick:
don't forget we're talking about Mindy's family. Alex: No one has to get
hurt, just make sure Vanessa plays ball with us.

Alan's house:
Vanessa knocks at his door and asks if everyone has left-- she wants to
talk to him.
