Guiding Light Update for Tues 10/7/97

by Cathy Geier

BAUER CABIN
Buzz is not remembering his name or the fall. Nola thinks he is fooling,
to try and pay her back for stalking him. She gets upset at any
implication that she may have caused the fall, and tells Buzz his joking
really isn't funny now. Buzz: "Dammit, I don't even know if I have a sense
of humor!" Nola threatens to give him another lump on his head if he keeps
this up.

LEWIS OIL
Reva, Billy and Cassie are in Billy's office. Reva recaps finding out that
Annie Dutton is the CEO of Allied, which is the company buying up Lewis
stock. She tells Billy that Alan must be helping Annie with a scheme to
take over Lewis Oil. Cassie is looking worried. Billy tells Reva not to
get upset. Annie hasn't beat them yet, and she won't take their company.

HOSPITAL, WHEREVER CROSS CREEK IS
Josh is pacing in the waiting room. Annie's doctor comes in and tells him
Annie is in serious condition, but she will live. He is worried about her
mental condition though, and is treating her as an attempted suicide. Josh
has no details to add about what happened. The doc says that Annie cheered
up when she heard Josh brought her in, and that she is waiting to see him.
Josh refuses at first, but the doc refers to Annie's fragile emotional
state, so he agrees to go in for a minute. He enters Annie's room. She
sits up and tells him that she knew he would be there, he saved her life,
he must have feelings for her.

LEWIS OIL
More discussion between Reva and Billy about Annie and Alan. Billy still
doesn't think Annie can really get the company. Reva decides she needs to
"focus in" on Alan and Annie's trip to Chicago, who they saw, where they
went. She's not sure exactly why, but she must "focus in" on that. Cassie
is not saying much, but looking more and more guilty.

HOSPITAL
Annie is telling Josh he must care. Josh: "No, I almost left you to let
nature take its course. I know that's cold, but what you have done to my
family was evil." Annie denies she was trying to hurt herself. Josh
doesn't think that matters. They go back and forth about whether or not he
has any feelings for her. Josh tries to drive his point home by saying "I
only helped you the same way I would help a drowning dog." His feelings
for her are long gone. "No one cares about you, all you are to me is a
memory." Annie finally starts to get the message and gets defensive.
"You're wrong, someone cares about me: Alan." Josh smirks, " If Alan is
all you have left, you're worse off than I thought." He opens to door to
leave, revealing Alan standing close enough to be eavesdropping. Josh lets
Alan in to see for himself how Annie is, then leaves.

LAKE HOUSE
Matt and Van are bubbling about the baby, remembering what happened at the
hospital when they didn't go through with the abortion. General bubbliness
along the lines of how wonderful and magical they are. Matt doesn't want
to tell anyone about the pregnancy yet, they will just worry. Van
disagrees, but gives in for now about telling the family. Hart and Dinah
arrive with dinner. More compliments about Vanessa's "glow", as Van looks
ready to spill the beans.

BAUER CABIN
Nola is trying to get Buzz to stop pretending he lost his memory. In
response to her badgering, Buzz says "Come on, lady!" just as one would to
a stranger. Nola realizes he is not faking. Buzz still can't believe his
name is "Buzz", but he thinks he remembers where he lives: in a trailer
outside of Santa Cruz with someone named Lucy. Hearing Lucy is his
daughter, he says "Oh no, I have a daughter? I'm in deep trouble!" Nola
agrees, "You and me both."

LEWIS OIL
Reva is determined to stop Alan and Annie no matter what. She, Billy and
Cassie swap a few HB-isms about enemies. Reva now thinks that Alan and
Annie made up the whole sister thing to cover up for their take-over
attempt. They probably don't know anything about her sister. She decides
to call Josh. She thanks Cassie for everything, from "the whole family."
Billy reminds them that they can't afford any leaks. Reva leaves to call
Josh. Cassie assures Billy that she won't talk. Billy: "Don't worry. I
think I can trust you with anything." Cassie is looking even more guilty.

HOSPITAL
Annie is facing away from Alan as he kneels by her bed. She is not
forgiving him easily, and wants to have a pity party first. She reviews
all her hurts, topped by Alan's betrayal. Alan insists that everything was
for her. He tells her that he heard her say that she knows he cares about
her. Alan cradles her face in his hands, "You are the woman I have waited
for my entire life. I love you. If you believe nothing else, believe that."

Annie tells him that loving her is a big mistake. No, he days, loving her
is the most important thing in his life. Annie: "You mean aside from
bringing down Lewis Oil." No, he insists, it's all so she can get revenge
on Reva and Josh. He begs her to let her hurt go and let him back in her
life.

LEWIS OIL
Billy asks Cassie to call Hart about the contracts he was supposed to have
signed earlier. She starts to leave, he calls her to "stay right here by
me in case I think of something else and want you to write it down." He
punches in the combination to the safe, as Cassie looks over his shoulder
and writes the combo down on her pad. While he flips through some folders,
she is transfixed by the big stack of cash in the safe. Billy shuts the
safe and turns to apologize to her for the extra work he has given her. He
leaves to "call in some markers." Cassie is showing the strain of her
guilt and jumps as Reva comes back to say she can't locate Josh. She is
heading home and invites Cassie for dinner and brainstorming. Cassie says
she has to stay late to finish the extra work Billy gave her. Reva tell
her she is invaluable to them and a good friend as she leaves. Cassie
looks like she hates herself.

LAKE HOUSE
Dinah, Hart, Matt and Van are finishing dinner. Hart suddenly remembers he
has to go back to town to sign contracts at Lewis. As Dinah, Matt and Van
settle in the living room, Van has a serious dizzy spell. Dinah freaks out
and demands to know what's going on. Van can't keep it from her, and tells
Dinah she is pregnant. Dinah is stunned.

BAUER CABIN
In the Line of the Week, Buzz is saying "You're kidding! I work in a
diner AND my name is Buzz? I want to die!" Nola tries to get him to
remember more. He remembers the name Bauer. Nola says she's a Reardon.
That rings a bell for Buzz, who remembers a bunch of carrot-topped kids
named Reardon. He tries to remember her first name. "Nola" says Nola.
"Bring me up to the present" says Buzz, "you and I are what to each other?"

LEWIS OIL
Cassie is agitated, pacing around her desk. She asks forgiveness from God,
and heads in to Billy's office. She tells herself she can't work for Alan
anymore, she has to get Tammy. As long as she's with her baby, it won't
matter if they're on the run. She calls Tammy at her foster home and tells
her to sleep with the window open, because Mommy is coming to get her
before daylight. Then, apologizing to the Lewises, she opens the safe and
starts putting the cash in her bag.

CROSS CREEK
Josh is looking around the trashed cabin. He can't let Reva see their
sacred place like this. He rips up a picture of Annie. The phone rings,
it's Reva. She updates him on Alan and Annie. Josh replies in a cold and
measured way that tells us he is ready to get revenge on Annie. He doesn't
tell her what happened with Annie. Reva can tell something is wrong and
offers to come up. "No, don't come here!" says Josh.

HOSPITAL
Alan is telling the nurse that Annie should be allowed to go. It's not
necessary to keep her because she wasn't trying to kill herself. The nurse
agrees to get the doctor. Alan tells Annie he loves her and wants to take
care of her. Talk is cheap, Annie wants proof that he loves her.

BAUER CABIN
Buzz tries to go for a walk. As Nola tries to get him to lie down, he
passes out again. Nola says, "when you wake up, you'll remember your life
and I'll dig a big hole and jump in."

LAKE HOUSE
Van is trying to convince Dinah to be happy. She denies any possible
medical complication from the pregnancy. Dinah says she'll try to be
happy. She says her good-byes. Outside the door, Dinah says "This is
ridiculous!" Inside, Matt and Van are too happy to worry about anything.

CROSS CREEK
Josh convinces Reva not to come. They look forward to seeing each other at
home and hang up.

HOSPITAL
Annie says love alone isn't enough anymore. She wants what Alan has:
power. He must sign over all Lewis stock to her. "Done" says Alan. They
laugh.

LEWIS OIL
As Cassie is putting cash in her bag in front of the safe, Hart walks in.
"What are you doing Cassie?"
