GUIDING LIGHT TOO BAD IT'S MONDAY
 (OR TUESDAY) UPDATE FOR 10/28/96
               0R
    THE OTHER SHOE DROPS DAY
        IN SPRINGFIELD USA

TBIMOT HIGH (OR LOW) LIGHTS:
DR. PRICK rises again when he discovers
what FERN LAPLANTE has been up to
MARCUS helps DAHLIA with her audition
  with SHEP SHEPARD
DI waits for the other shoe to drop and
the DIRT DUO is snared by a concussed ROG
FLETCH gives ROSS parenting tips--but somehow
I don't think Dr. Spock ever covered twins with
  two fathers

Let the Show Begin

ROG GOES TO CEDARS:
A beaten up Rog approaches the Cedars emergency
entrance. He is greeted by a skeptical Lil and
Charles. They remember only too well his "heart
attack." Charles wonders who is on call, but Lil
covers for Dr. Rick.

MARCUS AND DAHLIA AT THE AUDITION:
Dahlia is pacing. She is not on the list of candidates
for the audition. Marcus finds out that there were too
many applicants, and the college has bumped her. Dahlia
moans. Marcus assures her that the audition isn't over til
she sings. Marcus barges into the room where Shep Shepard is
conducting auditions. Shep is effusively dismissing a guy who
just finished his performance. Marcus launches into a bunch of
bs about how Shep must hear Dahl sing. Shep is reluctant--
he has 25 more people to hear, and if he hears one more
rendition of Memories... The exiting student looks upset,
and Shep assures him that his treatment of that standard was
very good. Marcus asks Shep if he can't take 10 minutes to hear
a once in a lifetime gold record talent.

RICK, BLAKE AND ABBY ON THE FOLLYBEND PORCH:
Rick is looking at the Fern LaPlante printout that Abby has
brought to him. Blake and Rick turn their backs so she can't
understand them. Rick declares that this proves that Blake has
been lying to him. "One of the twins is mine," he asserts.

TWIRL LIGHTHOUSE

YOU DISGUST ME SAYS DR. PRICK:
Rick says that he knows that his DNA sample number matches the
results of one of the babies. Blake is trying to bs him without
success. He knows that the babies have different genetic codes,
and thus different fathers. "You faked the CVS test to prove Ross
was the father, didn't you? You disgust me." Dr. Prick starts to
go into Follybend so he can blab to Ross, while Blake hangs on.

I'M IN BETWEEN OFFICIAL RESIDENCES:
Charles leads Rog into an exam room. Lil is pretty disgusted,
and Rog says he thought when Ed Bauer left he might be received
more kindly at Cedars. Charles makes up his mind on a case-by-case
basis, but Rog already has two strikes in his book: he falsely
took a bed in the hospital for his heart condition, and he treated
Gilly badly when she worked for him. Rog half-heartedly asks for
aspirin and he'll be on his way. Charles starts examining him and
asks how he got in this condition. Rog claims he fell, but Charles
knows he was beaten. Lil sarcastically wonders by whom, and has to
apologize for her unprofessional attitude pleading fatigue [probably
since she is covering for Dr. Prick who left her in the lurch].
Charles orders xrays, and tells Rog to obey nurse Lillian. Lil
wants his personal info. She assumes he still lives at the Regency
but Rog says he is in between official residences. When she asks
who to notify, Rog says Blake is too far along and begs her not to
bother Hart.

THIS SHORT PERSON DOESN'T WANT TO KISS DI:
Hart is trying to explain why Mommy and Di were fighting. He tells
Pedie he loves both Di and Jet. Bridget explains that even friends
fight. Hart tries to get Pedie to kiss Di, but he crosses his little
arms and says NO. Jet informs him that you can't push short people
to do what they don't want to do. Di tries to suck up to him, but
Pedie and Jet aren't buying. "I'm his sister too," whines Di. Hart
tells Jet she is great with Pedie. Nola beeps Jet, and Di tries to
get her to leave. Jet and Pedie exit with Hart's compliments.
Clueless Hart says "I only hope when we have kids that we can do
as good a job as she's done with him." He is hit by something
thrown by Lady Di.

SHE'S THE VELVET GLOVE NOT THE VELVET FOG:
Shep and Marcus continue arguing. Shep says the college sets the
guidelines, but Marcus says talent is the most important factor.
With Shep as Dahl's mentor, her gift can reach the world. After
arguing for much longer than an audition would have taken, Shep
finally gets them to wait outside and sends for Joyce the secretary.
Dahlia tells Marcus she doesn't know whether to kiss him or kill
him.

CALL THE HEALTH DEPT., CO. IS NOT A BARN:
Jet and Pedie return, and ask Nola why she beeped. She wonders if
Jet plans to work today. Nola notices Jet's fragrance, and deduces
she was at the stables. A reeking Jet serves pumpkin pie to a
strangely noncomplaining customer. Nola and Jet spar about the
astrologer, and Jet says she knows Nola had Quint's chart done.
Nola points out the obvious difference: Quint says he loves her;
while Hart says he loves Di.

DI HAS OTHER SHOE DISEASE: TOO BAD IT'S NOT HOOF AND MOUTH:
Di reams out Hart about persisting in calling Jet a friend when
it's obvious she is after him. Hart thinks Jet cleaned the place
so Pedie wouldn't get dirty. Di thinks she did it for him. Hart
declares Di suffers from the very rare and seldom diagnosed other
shoe disease--whenever things are going well, you feel that
something will come along and take it all away. And on cue, the
phone rings. It is the hospital with news about Roger. Di tries
to talk Hart into staying away, but he says he needs to stay one
step ahead of Rog. Di insists on tagging along.

ABBY CAN'T READ THIS SITUATION:
Abby wants to know what is going on. Rick tries to get her to
wait inside Follybend. Blake and Rick tell her they have a
problem with Annie that they need to solve. They leave.

HALFTIME

I'M JUST A NATURE BOY:
Rog tells Charles he has been living in the woods. He babbles
about the wonders of the night sky. Hart and Di arrive and
Charles tells them he thinks Rog has a concussion and broken
ribs. Di can't believe that Rog lost a fight. Rog says it was
a musical disagreement with some heavy metal punk rock types.
Xray is ready for Roger. Hart says he will stick around until
they see how serious his injuries are. Charles isn't certain
whether he will need hospitalization, but he is going to need
somewhere besides the forest to recuperate. Di wants to send
him to a hotel. Charles says he needs 24 hour supervision due
to the serious blow to his head. Charles, Lil and Rog exit,
leaving the DIRT duo to argue in the exam room. Di tells Hart
if he is thinking what she thinks he's thinking, he needs his
head examined.

GOO GOO FOLLIES:
Fletch admits Abby who is charmed while holding Meg. Ross is
awed by the amount of responsiblity in a small package. Fletch
thinks every baby born is proof that God hasn't given up on
the world. Ross says he will soon have double proof: his two
sons.

DR. PRICK AND BLAKE IN THE CARRIAGE HOUSE:
Rick is in the boy's nursery saying what a great setup it is,
but the problem is that one of the babies is his. If Annie
hadn't told him, he would have only been a godfather. He would
see him, play with him and take him places, but never know the
boy was his. He wipes away a tear, asking if the baby doesn't
deserve to know his father. Blake thinks there is more to
being a father than biology. Rick says no one knows that better
than him, but he will be a great father. So will Ross, counters
Blake. Rick says she can no longer put her head in the sand: they
are talking about his boy. We had sex and you got pregnant. Blake
calls it an insane drunk accident. She gasps and sits down in the
rocker. Rick kneels down and feels her belly. "Oh my God, my son
is kicking."

BREAK FOR A BRENT AD FOR EXCEDRIN:
"I'm not convinced by charts and graphs are you?" Apparently Dr.
Prick is.

DAHLIA AUDITIONS:
Dahlia is very nervous and fears she can't live up to Marcus'
pitch. Marcus tells her to relax, breath and sing to him. Dahlia's
name is called. She gives her music to the accompanianist.
Amazingly Marcus puts his arm around Shep. Dahlia begins to sing.
"When I first met you, you were still holding on
I was barely breathing, it's been so long
This ain't love you have to suffer through
You don't have to worry, I'm falling too.
Turn the light on baby
Come to me now, I'll show you how to believe
When your soul is in doubt
There is no way I'd turn away the love
you've given me
There is no way the world could stop this love
we've got and I'll never lose you
And I'm telling you there is no way
Since I've met you my life has a different spin."

CUT TO: DIRT talking about Rog going to the farm to recover.
"Only a little while [?]
Shows all over my face..."
Hart tells Di that they have spent months thinking bad things
about his Father, and he doesn't want to live like that any
more.

REFRAIN OF:
"There is no way I'd turn away the love
you've given me.
And I'm telling you there is no way
How could the moon stop
Well there is no way.
How could the sky erase it
Well there is no way."

CUT TO: Rick who is feeling the babies. He stands up.
He picks up a teddy bear and cradles it.

"How could the wind stand still
Well there is no way.
It is meant to be, just like you and me.
There is no way I'd ever turn away
the love you've given me."

CUT BACK to: Dahlia:
"There is no way the world will stop
this love we've got.
And I'll never ever lose you
And I'm telling you baby
There is no way, way-eh-eh,
no way, no way ..."

Shep seems impressed. Marcus and Shep clap.
"Thank you Ms. Crede. That was very lovely."
Shep promises to get back to her later that
day. Marcus says "I told you so sir."
"You did tell me, " says Shep. "Very impressive."
After they leave, Shep mouths wow to the pianist.
Marcus wants to celebrate, but Dahlia is more
cautious. Marcus thinks she knocked his socks off.
They hug.

MALE BONDING AT FOLLYBEND:
Ross is worried about being a father. Fletch is
being reassuring. He thinks Ross will be a natural.
He will learn from the kids. He will have to be
there for the boys, not his clients. Fletch claims
he has learned to delegate authority. He mentions
missing BEN!! In a few weeks Ross will know what
he feels with Meg times two.

I'VE SEEN IT FROM BOTH SIDES NOW:
Blake tries to get Rick to see it from her side.
Rick bitterly denounces his rep as good old Ricky
the rock [hey I thought he was a brick]. He says
he feels "like a man who has been screwed over by
a woman. I want what's mine. I want my son." Blake
tries to get him to think about what will happen
if this goes public. The tabloids will discend and
the children will be held up to ridicule. Rick
isn't listening and ironically accuses Blake of
not hearing him: HE wants HIS SON. [Screw the other
kid I guess]. Blake says if he asserts his paternal
rights, the kids will lose any chance at a healthy
normal life. Rick thinks Blake is exaggerating--
obviously he has never watched Geraldo, Jenny Jones,
et al. Blake says she is scared for all five of them.
Rick says the horror stories haven't happened.
Blake cries "that night happened. They happened. Our
boys will be born soon." Rick says the only thing he
can think about is what it was like to feel his boy
kicking. "He's alive. He's my son."

THAT OTHER SHOE CALLED ROGER:
Hart tries to get Dinah to stop worrying. Di suggests
a nursing home, but Hart points out how many times
Rog escaped from Midland Hills. Charles, Lil and Rog
return. Charles doesn't think he needs to be admitted
but he does need supervision. Lil says hospital rules
require he be discharged to an address not a forest.
Hart invites Rog to stay with him. Rog demurs.

FOLLYBEND:
Ross and Abby are on the porch. Ab tells Ross that Rick
and Blake went off help Annie. She mentions the Fern
LaPlante file. Ross is worried and says he will drop
Abby and go find them.

CARRIAGE HOUSE:
Rick doesn't give a damn about the tabloids [and they
call women irrational!]. He says he is going to talk to
Ross. It is time he knows the truth. Blake wonders what
Abigail's reaction will be when she finds out.

COMPANY:
Marcus and Dahlia are celebrating her wonderful audition.
The phone rings, and Shep turns Dahlia down. Marcus can't
believe it. He is giving the scholarship to a little chippie.
Jet is reading Pedie Hansel and Gretel. The little tyke
wonders what a stepmother is, and Jet is only too happy to
point out that is what Di will be if she marries his Daddy.
"The evil sound of the wicked stepmother..."

CEDARS ER:
Di wonders why Rog won't take Hart up on his offer. Rog says
he would feel like a third wheel. Hart says Di can stay at
the penthouse and Rog can stay in his room. "Di won't mind
a couple of days in the city." Rog makes him beg. Di thinks
a couple of days won't make a difference. As Rog is wheeled
out, he gives a great smirk for the freeze frame.
