  THE TOWERS

The drunk guy tells Marcus, "Didn't you hear me boy? Get lost." Marcus
punches him. Amanda tries to get Marcus away, but Marcus tells the guy
to get up & say it again. Nobody gets away with saying that to him.
Hamp grabs Marcus and pulls him away.

  DINER

Buzz, Lucy, & Alan Michael arrive. Nadine, Frank, & Eleni hug Lucy.

  SPAULDING ENTERPRISES

Marian tries to change Lucy's test results, but they haven't been posted
yet, "Don't keep us in suspense any longer. Everyone's dying to know the
results."

  ON THE ROAD

Hawk complains about the radio reception and asks Alex to see if the
antenna is all the way up. She refuses, then tells him that they just
passed the turnoff for Goshen. She wants him to turn around & go back,
but Hawk laughs & tells her that the road leads to a "cow pasture". Alex
tells him the map shows it going to a junction. Hawk tells her to come
up to the front seat & drive herself. She won't because he's being paid to
drive her to Goshen her way. Hawk, "You're taking me to confusion."
Alex, "There's a short trip for you." She asks him to turn off the
radio. He tells her she can't ridicule country music, "it's about real
feelings, true romance. Something you Spauldings know precious little
about."

  GOSHEN

Alan carries Reva to his bed & tells her he'll take care of her. She
wonders how he can look at her or stand to be near her when he knows what
she is. Alan, "I always did. Nothing's changed. Recalling all those
memories must be overwhelming. I'm sure you're confused." Reva says her
memories are clear, she was the town slut. Alan says nothing is that
simple or that ugly. Reva says she did things that were ugly. Alan
tells her to get out of the wet clothes. When she does, he ties the
ribbon on her nightgown.

  ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Alex, "Admit it, you are lost." Hawk, "Ain't neither." Alex, "Then
where are we?" Hawk, "Right here! Headed this way, on this road. Which
is eventually gonna open out on a main highway. At which time I'll be
able to tell you more precisely where we are." To himself, "And how the
Sam Hill I'm going to get you to Goshen." Alex, "I should never have
hired you to drive me." Hawk, "Keep your hose hitched woman." Alex,
"Silly old me, I thought any dumb animal would be have some sense of
direction." She swats him with the map & he pushes her back & tells her
to stay there. He puts up the window between the seats, but she puts it
down. Alex won't be shut in. Hawk reaches back for the map & Alex hits
him with it. He turns around to look at her and runs off the road.

  TOWERS

Hamp tells Marcus to calm down. He will if Hamp tosses the racist in the
suit. Roger tells them that the suit belongs to Councilman Harrison
Lockwood and he could cause trouble. Dinah suggests that Marcus
apologize. Marcus yells that Lockwood should apologize to him. Ross
asks Amanda if she's alright. She tells him that the man came on to her
earlier & didn't appreciate the fact that she preferred Marcus. Lockwood
says that Marcus attacked him for no reason. Hamp asks Lockwood if he
knows what set Marcus off. Roger introduces himself to Lockwood & tries
to get him to go home. Lockwood wants some satisfaction first. Dinah
restrains Marcus. Roger can't believe Lockwood wants to make an issue of
this, "a barfight over a woman doesn't play too good with his constituents."
Hamp pushes Marcus into the hallway and asks what is his problem.

  DINER

They sit at a table to eat dim sum, play poker and have fun.

  SPAULDING ENTERPRISES

Marian uses Lucy's & A-M' name plates as puppets. Lucy's <in a squeaky
voice>, "Oh Alan Michael." A-M's, "No Lucy, don't call me Alan Michael,
call me Michael. I hate my father you see. He sicced Brent Lawrence on
me and everyone knows Brent Lawrence is too smart for me." Lucy's, "Oh
I'm sorry Michael. I'm so frightened. Whatever shall we do?" A-M's,
"Well, I don't know about you Lucy, but I'm running away."

Brent, "It's all been so easy." He remembers his "death" scene. After
A-M leaves, Brent sits up & tells Cassie that A-M bought it.

  TOWERS

Marcus tells Hamp that the man called him "boy". Hamp can't believe
Marcus swung on him for that, "being in Europe thinned your skin that
much?" Marcus forgot what it was like in the U.S., second class
citizens. "At least Europeans don't just see things in black & white."
Hamp doesn't have time for "some bogus, all Europeans are color blind
excuse." He tells Marcus to get a grip. It's Hamp's place and Marcus
works for him. He has a place full of people & at least one of them is
an ignorant jerk & "he is not the Lone Ranger, there's plenty more where
he came from. Every continent, every race, every creed, every color,
every sex. It doesn't matter. Jerks are jerks." Hamp doesn't know what
to do about them, but it's not a good idea to punch them all in the
face. Marcus asks what he's suppose to do. Hamp asks what hitting the
guy got him, besides opening Marcus up for an assault charge. Marcus
asks what Hamp would have done. Hamp, "I would have picked up that
beautiful lady's hand and walked on out to the dance floor." Marcus
doesn't do passive. "What if he jumped me?" Hamp tells him that then
Marcus presses charges.

Dinah comes & tells Marcus that Roger is handling the jerk. Marcus,
"Like you care." Dinah tells him that Marcus was her family for years,
she cares about him & doesn't care if he thinks her marriage is wrong &
he treats her like the plague. "Don't tell me I can't stand up for
you." Marcus, "I'm just blowing some steam" & hugs her.

Cutter comes in asking who called in an assault. Lockwood points at
Marcus and says he assaulted him. Dinah asks Ross to help Marcus. He
was going to do that on his own. Lockwood tells Cutter to arrest Marcus,
they don't need an investigation. Cutter asks Marcus if he assulted "the
very drunken public official". Marcus says he provoked him with "his
big ugly mouth". Marcus tells Cutter to just cuff him & take him
downtown. Cutter wants to talk to witnesses first. Marcus, "Ask anyone
& they'll tell you he's a pig who got what he deserves. You're going to
arrest me anyway." Cutter is getting annoyed, he doesn't need the chips
on Marcus's shoulder thrown in his face. Marcus tries to leave & Cutter
grabs him & pushes him against the wall. He tells him to calm down.
Ross intervenes & says he can shed some light on the situation. His
friend Amanda Spaulding was in the middle of it and can explain everything.

Lockwood turns to Amanda and tells her that he didn't know who she was &
it's a coincidence because his committee is scheduled to rule on the
zoning for a warehouse Spaulding wants to build. Amanda, "And you'd be
happy to help us." Lockwood tells Cutter he has a witness to corroborate
that he was viciously attacked for no reason.

  ON THE ROAD

Alex tells Hawk to fix the car, but he can't. She gets out her cellular
phone to call a tow truck, but it doesn't work. Hawk, "I was hopin you
was in range of somebody. I wanted to hear you tell em where to come &
pick you up." They argue about getting help. Hawk tells her that there
are coyotes or a bear out there. He'll fix the car in the morning. Alex
tells him there are no coyotes or bears, just one lousy varmit & he's
going to walk for help.

  GOSHEN

Reva knows why she was drawn to this place & why she stayed. She was
trying to cover up who she really was. She tells Alan a story about a
rich kids' party when she was 15. How she tried to fit in and crashed
the party. That she was from out of town & her father did business with
H.B. Lewis. But soon people laughed at her and she knew she was a fake.
Reva Shayne, trailor trash. That's what happened here. Alan tries to
convince her that she's made a big contribution to the community and
tells her to stop feeling sorry for herself. She knows why she can't
remember her life, she couldn't stand to face who she really was, so she
buried it. Alan tells her she can't run away again, but she wants to.
He tells her to face up to things & be herself. Reva doesn't know who
she is now.

  TOWERS

Amanda tells Cutter, "This lame excuse for a gentleman tried to pick me
up. Heaven knows what he said to Marcus. If Marcus hadn't slugged him,
I probably would have. The councilman got what he deserved." Lockwood
wants Marcus to be arrested. Ross can't belive that Cutter is serious
about arresting Marcus. Cutter tells him that he has the right to press
charges, maybe he'll forget about it in the morning. Dinah threatens the
councilman with putting this on WSPR. Blake says that politicians love
free publicity. Cutter has to do this by the book. Marcus holds out his
hands for handcuffs, then puts them behind his back because he's a
"serious felon". Cutter tells him to shut his mouth. Marcus, "Didn't
you bring a gag? Are we going to interrogation now?" Dinah tells Roger
to do something.

  DINER

They play poker. Lucy & AM have good hands, but AM wins. Lucy & AM
leave. Frank & Eleni go upstairs. Buzz sits at the table. He can't
stand waiting. Nadine tells him they'll know tomorrow.

  DOCK

AM wants to go to the boat & get away from the place where Brent died.
He wishes that Brent had never lived. Lucy has a hunch that after
tomorrow they won't have to worry about Brent because the test results
will be ok.

  SPAULDING ENTERPRISES

Brent/Marian remembers more of his death scene. Cassie asks if there's a
better way. Brent doesn't want to be the Spauldings' patsy & go to
prison. He tells the doctor to sign the death certificate & then he can
be treated.

Brent, "I faked my death. Your test results are next, Lucy."

  DINER

Nadine tells Buzz he can't do anything. He wants to go bowling to pass
the time. Nadine won't go and reminds him that in the past they would
make love to comfort each other. Buzz says he loves her, but those times
are gone. Nadine says that it's better this way and tells him to take
care of himself.

  TOWERS

Dinah tells Roger to help Marcus, but Marcus doesn't want to be in her
husband's debt. Dinah tells Roger he shouldn't listen to Marcus. Hamp
asks Lockwood to go home, he's not welcome here anymore. Hamp grabs him
& straightens his tie. Ross tells Amanda he'll help Marcus & asks if she
has a ride home. Blake & Roger watch them. Ross takes Blake out the
door & she turns around to kiss him, so that Amanda can see it.

  ON THE ROAD

Alex hears a noise and calls to Hawk, who pops out of the car & scares
her. She asks how he got in the car. Hawk, "Through the window like a
big ole bear." Hawk tells Alex "there ain't no help. If I went walking
off in the pitchy dark, I'd a broke my neck & you'd be out here in the
wilderness all alone." Alex thinks that would be better than being with
him. Hawk tells her they should sleep & get a handle on things in the
morning. He wants to get in the back with Alex, but she won't let him.
He needs to stretch out his bum leg, he wants some of the blankets &
pillows. Alex, "You're a big ole teddy bear. You can just hibernate!" &
shuts the door. He asks for some whiskey to ward off the chill, then
kicks a tire & falls to the ground, howling in agony.

  GOSHEN

Alan tells Reva that she's remembering all the down times in her life,
but she always pulled herself up. Nothing was too much for Reva Shayne,
she made it on her own terms. Reva thinks she's lost that, she's lost
everything. Alan says she told him that before & it wasn't true then and
it's not true now. He fell in love with her because she pulled herself
up inch-by-inch and she can do it again. Reva goes to sleep. Alan sits in
a chair by the bed.

  SPAULDING ENTERPRISES

Brent/Marian is still waiting, "You're still scared of me aren't you
Lucy? I'll give you something to be scared about."

  DOCK

AM holds Lucy as they watch the lighthouse light cut through the fog.
AM, "The way it steers the ships past the rocks safely. Guiding them,
getting them safely home." The light crosses their faces. AM kisses
Lucy's cheek.
