CEDARS: the waiting room
Amanda and Ross are embracing as Blake walks in. She stands to the side as
they engage in some mutual admiration. Blake finally makes her presence
known -- "Hi honey, who is this?"

CEDARS: an exam room
Alex is up on the exam table and Rick is looking over her. She is trying to
convince him to tell her where he saw Alan. Rick is much more concerned
with her yo-yoing blood pressure which has just returned to normal with the
mention of finding Alan. Alex keeps pushing and Rick tells her that Alan
doesn't want to be found. But he finally gives in and tells her that he's
lying low in a small religious community. Alex thinks he's joking.

A POND IN GOSHEN:
We cut to Alan and Reva floating in the water. They find their way to each
other and kiss. As usual <sigh>, Revecca pushes Alan away and swims off.
She gets out of the water and tiptoes across the rocks with Alan in hot
pursuit (literally and figuratively).
R: If you lay another hand on me I'll scream
A: It won't change the fact that you want me as much as I want you
Revecca denies that she feels that way. Alan asks if she has had enough of
these games (can't speak for her, but I know I have). She says it's not a
game -- she cannot got back to being .... she won't say the word.

CHEZ CHAMBERLAIN/LEWIS and now REARDON:
Josh and Annie stand facing each other. Josh claims that he doesn't want to
keep going over the past. He says that he wants to love Annie. "Do you, do
you want to kiss me, do you want to make love to me, do you want to marry me?"

ROLL LIGHTHOUSE

THE EXTENDED FAMILY CRIB:
Josh says yes, he wants all of those things, but she lied to him and now he
needs time. How long, Annie wants to know -- and what's going to be
different then. She wants to know how long he plans to punish her. He says
its not punishment, he just needs more time. She wants to know if he's just
letting her down easy or if he really needs time to settle this.

CEDARS: eyes are turning green
Ross introduces Blake to Amanda -- the two women look each other over.
They shake hands briskly. Blake thinks she recalls Ross mentioning her
once, in passing. Amanda emphasizes that they go way back -- but she was
foolish enough to let him slip through her fingers. Amanda says she
recognizes Blake from a Spaulding family photo she received a few years ago.
Blake says she was married to her brother -- which one Amanda wants to
know. Blake has to admit it was both. Ross jumps in and changes the
subject -- what brings Amanda to town? Family business she says.

CEDARS: interrogation oops I mean Exam room
Rick tells Alex it was no joke, Alan is hiding out in a religious community.
He wants to know why Alex is so riled up and desperate to find him. Alex
raves on about Amanda and how Alan sent her here to punish Alex. Rick,
tired of dealing with Alex and lacking any loyalty to Alan, announces that
he is in Goshen, Indiana. He explains how he came across Alan and how is
only concern was his privacy, not the man who was dying.

GOSHEN: the hard sell
Alan wants to know why Reva is content being shut off from the outside
world, playing "this virgin roll." He grabs her and pulls her close. "You
are the most sensual woman I've ever known -- the sexiest creature who ever
walked the face of the earth." He talks of how she had all the Lewis men
and Kyle Sampson. "You loved the attention and when you felt you weren't
getting enough, you shortened your dress." Reva continually denies that any
of this is true, but Alan continues on. He tells Reva of a story she told
him on the night he fell in love with her. She was a mature twelve year old
who had gone so long without food that she was willing to exchange her body
for something to eat. Revecca says she never would have demeaned herself
that way -- she would have found another way. "That girl had no self
respect. She is to be pitied."
Alan says he fell in love with her that night because he knew she
was just like him -- driven by her instinct and passion. Revecca says that
none of this is her. Alan, now frustrated asks how long Reva thinks that he
will go on with this game before he walks away. Reva says that is what she
wants, for him to leave.

CEDARS: Exam room
Alex thanks Rick for telling her where Alan is. She assures him that she
and her blood pressure will be just fine. Rick thinks he should have kept
his mouth shut.

CEDARS: waiting room
The three have all taken seats in the waiting room. Amanda sits close to
Ross with Blake in a chair to the side of them. Amanda wants to know if
Ross still has trouble with his back. Blake wants to know how she knew
about that. Amanda grins coyly and says it all started with her. To Ross,
"Do you remember when it went out completely?" Ross looking uncomfortable
says no. Amanda says to Blake that it was all her fault. Blake looks
annoyed, but interested. She asks Ross how did it all start. He claims he
doesn't remember.
Alex enters and seems surprised that they all know each other. As
they all rise and walk over to ALex, Amanda again emphasizes how far she and
Ross go back. After some idle chit-chat Amanda offers to take Alex home.
Before they leave she makes a point of telling Ross how good it is to see
him again. She also makes a point of asking if there are any "little
Marlers." Not yet, answers Blake.

CEDARS: Annie's party room
Rick is alone in the room scribbling on a chart when Ed walks in. He wants
to know if he's going to leave the balloons up in case Annie returns. Rick
says he hasn't had time to take them down. "Whatever you say," retorts Ed.
Rick gets defensive -- if his dad has something on his mind he should just
spit it out. Ed expresses concern that Rick is going to get hurt again and
reminds him that though they are having problems, Annie is still involved
with Josh. Rick pretends not to know what his father is talking about, he
and Annie are merely "x's that don't hate each other." Ed doesn't buy it
and says its obvious what's going on and he doesn't beleive that this
relationship is purely platonic, at least from Rick's point of view. Rick
tells him that Ed's way off because he's already put in for vacation time
and is on his way to Mexico for a quicky divorce.
Ed is forced to relent and apolgize. He says he's sorry he sounded
like a meddling old aunt. Rick says it was more like three. Rick admits
that what he and Annie had was incredible and something he never wants to
forget, but he just doesn't think about Annie that way anymore. (sure Rick,
we believe you)

JOSH'S:
Josh says he's not trying to let Annie down easy, he just doesn't know how
things are going to end up. Annie says nobody does. Josh claims that he's
beginning to understand Annie's actions and put himself in her shoes -- now
can she do the same for him. How would she feel if he'd lied to her. How
is he supposed to know when she's telling the truth. She says he won't
because, "people don't come with warranties like dishwashers." How will she
know if he's lying to her? --or is he so perfect that he never would. She
says that when people love each other they have to take a leap of faith.
Josh calls her on this -- if he'd been lying to her consistently
would she be able to trust him? She said she'd be hurt and mad but she
wouldn't punish him forever. He says he needs more time and wants them to
simplify -- start over without so much pressure -- go out for coffee talk
about mundane stuff. Annie turns away from Josh and tears fill her eyes.

GOSHEN:
We dissolve to Reva turning and walking away from Alan. She cries, "I'll
never believe you. The woman you describe is disgusting...she used sex to
get what she wanted...instead of treating it as someting sacred...what kind
of woman would do that to herself?" She is getting more and more upset and
angry. She believes that Alan made all this up in order to get her into
bed. She says it won't work and she hates him for trying -- she wouldn't
sleep with him if he were the last man on earth. "Go to hell Alan, go now
-- you will never have me!"
Alan's had enough. He announces that he is leaving this place. The
Reva Shayne he knew is dead. He storms off. Revecca looks distressed and
walks back over to the water.

HALFTIME

JOSH'S:
Josh and Annie continue to argue over the trust issue. Annie says she
refuses to feel she has to prove herself worthy of Josh, why can't he just
drop it? He says he would like to but can't pretend that everything is OK
when it's not. He says he's offering them a new beginning. Annie said that
she can't help but feel rejected. She says she loves him too much to "do
this time out thing while you decide whether I'm worthy or not." She says
he has to accept her for who she is or not at all. She asks him if he can
do that, he shakes his head very slightly then starts to speak. "No," Annie
interrupts, "you don't have to explain. I have my answer." She turns to
walk out, Josh remains silent.

HOUSE OF BLOSS:
Blake enters the house raving about Amanda. Ross comes in behind her.
Blake goes on about Amanda's "fawning" all over him. He says she has
nothing to worry about. "It's always the quiet ones," she says have
jokingly. "I'm supposed to be the one with the tawdry past -- so just how
tawdry were you and little Miss Spaulding...spill it counselor." Ross tries
to envoke the fifth. Blake says that no ammendment can protect him. If he
doesn't tell the court he will be sentenced to fifteen minutes of tickling.
Ross backs around the sofa. Blake follows, fingers poised. "Talk or be
tickled." She pounces and they fall onto the couch.

(editorial comment: the editors used some quick parallel cutting back and
forth to juxtapose the two versions of Amanda and Ross's recollections -- so
I'm not omitting a bunch, the scenes are that short.)
SPAULDING MANISION:
Alex and Amanda enter the study. Alex regrets that she and Amanda have
never gotten to know each other. The conversation quickly turns to Ross --
Alex didn't know that he and Amanda were so close

CHEZ BLOSS:
Ross squirms as Blake tickles him. He finally surrenders. He says there is
really nothing to tell. He helped Amanda with some legal problems.

SPAULDING MANSION:
Amanda says that Ross helped her "out of a sticky financial mess," at least
that's how it began. "It drove Ross crazy that I was in love with another
man." Alex looks intrigued, but a little suspicious.

BLOSS:
Blake says that from the way Amanda was "manhandling" Ross they must have
been more than lawyer/client. Ross says that yes, they were also business
partners along with Josh. He admits that there may have been a moment or
two when they could have been more, but it didn't get that far.

SAPULDING'S:
Amanda claims that Ross loved her desparately, but she was already
invlolved. He was jealous, almost obsessed.

BLOSS:
Blake wants to know why things didn't go further -- he says that he never
wastes his time or kisses on things with no future. He kisses his wife.

SPAULDING'S:
"Ross begged me to marry him," Amanda continues. She said she hated to hurt
him that way, but he was the one who became obsessed all on his own-- she
never lead him on. Alex says she find's this illuninating -- she never
thought of Ross in that way. Amanda wants to know about Blake. She says
she can't believed he married "that girl." He used to have such
sophisticated taste.

BLOSS:
Ross and Blake kiss. He says she has no reason to worry about Amanda.

SPAULDING'S:
Alex says that Bloss are very happy. Amanda says that is good because
happiness is so hard to find, and so hard to keep. She stares off into
space plaintively.

CEDARS:
Annie has returned to the hospital and fills Rick in on her discussion with
Josh. She's decided "to hell with it." Rick says good for her. He shows
her his tickets for Mexico -- says all he needs is power of attourney and
he's off to divorce city with some time set aside for sun and margaritas.
Annie says that sounds great (minus the margaritas of course). He invites
her to come along -- "the divorce of your dreams." She says its not a bad
idea as they look into each others eyes.

JOSH'S:
Josh paces the floor looking grim as Marah enters. She asks if Annie is
still there. He says no and reminds her that she is supposed to leave Annie
alone. Marah just wanted to give Annie her birthday present. Josh had
forgotten it was Annie's birthday.

GOSHEN:
Revecca dives back into the water. Alan is seen getting dressed and
stomping off. All of a sudden Reva seems to be having trouble swimming
(either she got a cramp or the Loch Ness Monster has immigrated -- its
unclear). She calls for Alan.

BLOSS:
Blake gets up off the sofa rather abruptly and tries to usher Ross back to
the office. Noticing her mood change, he thinks she's making way too much
of this Amanda thing. Blake says it's not her, it's the baby and not being
pregnent _again_. Ross says they've only been trying a few months. Blake
wonders who she thinks she is anyway trying to become a mother. Ross thinks
they'll make great parents and she a good mother when the time comes. "If
it comes" answers Blake. Ross thinks it will, but even if it doesn't
they'll always have each other.

SPAULDING MANSION:
Alex wants to know how long Amanda will be staying. She says she hasn't
decided, but if she's imposing she'll stay at a hotel. Alex tells her she's
welcome as long as she likes. She wants to know if Amanda knows where her
father is and when or if he'll be back. Amanda gets the feeling Alan may
have kissed SF goodbye.

A LOCH IN GOSHEN:
Reva splashes and struggles (this woman should really stay away from water).
She calls for Alan but he doesn't hear her and continues walking.

CEDARS:
Rick brings Ed some vacation requests to sign. Ed notices that there are
two, one for Rick and one for Annie. Rick says his plans have changed,
Annie's coming with him to Mexico. Ed asks about their earlier
conversation. Rick says that things have changed since Josh dumped her.
He's not saying anything will happen between them in Mexico, but if it does
it would be fine with him.

JOSH'S:
Josh holds the gift Marah had for Annie as he stares off into space. "I've
lost her," he whispers.

SPAULDING MANSION:
A courier comes with the rest of Amanda's luggage. Amanda opens her wallet
to give a tip but finds it empty. She lies to Alex, saying she only has a
hundred. Alex provides some cash and then has Amanda shown to her room.
After Amanda has exited Alex calls her travel service asking for a
trip map to Goshen.

THE DEADLIEST LAKE IN GOSHEN:
Alan finally hears Reva and runs back to the water. We cut to Reva who
yells "Bud" as she finally goes under.

Well that's it for Wed.!
