MALE BONDING AND ALAN BASHING:

We see a close up on a note Matt is holding, which is supposedly
>from Vanessa: "To make the time till Midnight go faster. Hope
this is more your speed. Contessa". Matt is at the local boxing
arena. Ross and Fletch just happen to also be there.
Apparently, Fletch got a tip from a boxer named Lopez that he was
willing to blow the whistle on the illegal stuff going on at the
arena. Ross also got a call from the same guy, who said he might
need legal representation. Matt stands in the background, unseen
by Fletch and Ross.

Ross and Fletcher discuss how Vanessa threw Ross out of the
Family Friends group meeting. Ross thinks she's still mad about
Ross's involvement in the custody case. They discuss that Ross
also had an illegitimate daughter with Vanessa, which Matt
overhears. He tries to walk out, but Ross spots him, recognizing
him from Vanessa's dinner party she threw for him. Fletch and
Ross invite Matt to join them in watching the fight.

The three men do some serious male-bonding over the fight. They
discuss the finer points of whether or not boxing is an art and
if it proves your masculinity. Matt doesn't think so, which
prompts Ross and Fletch to tease him about being a ladies' man.
They guess he must have a woman and wonder who it is. Matt plays
dumb. Meanwhile, it is announced that a fighter has "scratched".

Later, the three guys are riding in a limo because both Ross and
Fletcher's cars were vandalized in the parking lot. They wonder
about the odds of that happening, and also the strange
coincidence that the boxer who called both of them to the fight
is the one who "scratched" and pulled a no-show. Fletch decides
he'd better head on over to Vanessa's fund raiser, and Ross
decides it is best that he stay far away. Matt carefully pumps
Ross for info about Vanessa. Ross says to never cross her,
especially if you have had a relationship with her. Suddenly,
the car stops.

According to the driver, the alternator has gone bad, and he
takes off to the nearest service station (I don't know much about
cars, but I didn't think a bad alternator would suddenly stop a
moving vehicle...). The driver encourages the three guys to wait
in the limo with the full bar. Ross passes out beers. Fletcher
says he feels like they're being set up.

A little later, Ross guesses the driver isn't coming back and
that they were indeed set up. Fletch guesses that Alan is behind
it and Ross agrees. Matt wants to know who Alan is. Ross tells
him and says he'd better hope his running into Fletcher and Ross
was just an accident. Fletcher says that if he has anything that
Alan wants or is involved in anything that Alan is, he won't like
the outcome. The three look at each other and book out of the
car to start walking.

WHAT'S A GUY GOT TO DO TO HAVE A LITTLE FUN AND REGAIN AN EMPIRE?:

Vanessa demands that Alan let them off the yacht because she
can't miss her fundraiser for "Family Friends" (or whatever the
charity is called). Alan tells her that whether or not she gets
off the ship is entirely up to the three of them (Alex, Vanessa,
and Blake). Blake stands up to him and Alan says he's merely
having them for dinner. Alex says that none of them are going to
sign anything over to him and he claims it will be a long night.

Vanessa tells Alan that keeping her from her charity banquet is
hardly the way to win her over and Alex is concerned that Vanessa
might be swayed by Alan and his manipulative ways. Alan again
says that he's merely gathered the 3 women who control his future
together.

Later, the meal has been served. Blake is impressed with the
meal and chomps away on the duck, which is very crunchy. Alex
bickers with Alan some more. Alan tries to apologize to Blake
for trying to kill her five years ago, and alludes to the strong
feelings he once had for Vanessa (I don't remember this...what is
he referring to? Probably something before I started watching?)
Alan says he forgives Alex for anything and everything. He goes
into a song and dance about how much prison has changed him.
Alan talks about how he wants to now surround himself with
beautiful things and art, but needs the means to do so, to which
Alex replies, "Well, six bucks will get you into any museum. I'm
sure any of us would be willing to muster that up!" ;) Alex
clearly doesn't buy Alan's act. Alan tells Blake and Vanessa
he's let the appropriate people know that they won't be back
tonight, and tells them where they'll be staying while on their
"cruise." As Alex heads off to bed, she makes one more threat
that Alan won't get away with it.

In her cabin, Blake kisses a picture of Ross and preens in the
mirror. She moves and sees Alan is standing behind her. Blake
is pissed. However, Alan has brought her dessert on a tray
(chocolates and brandy). He tries to leave, but Blake is
suspicious. They rehash the past (their affair, attempted
murder, etc.) and Alan claims to have forgotten the past and
wants to now move on. Blake doesn't buy it. Alan brings up the
subject of Alan-Michael and how he's trying to develop a better
relationship with him. Blake hopes it is true. Alan says he
hopes he and Blake can be friends. They shake hands and alan
leaves. Outside, Alan seems pleased with himself.

Alan then finds Vanessa on the deck. Alan appeals to Vanessa's
logical side, saying he knows she isn't prone to raw emotion. He
tries his song and dance on her about starting fresh and trying
new things. Vanessa doesn't buy it. alan wants to know if she
thinks Alex deserves the money more than him. alex happens by
and says that Alan deserves exactly what he got. Alex is
suspicious that Alan is trying to make deals. Vanessa thinks it
is a family matter and can't promise anyone anything. Alan and
Alex both leave.

Alex follows Alan and wants to know if Alan killed "that girl."
Alan doesn't answer. They trade barbs about the way they treat
their nephews and reminisce about a childhood incident where Alex
bested Alan, but was eaten up with guilt and remorse (which she
took out on herself by pounding on her leg). Alan appears to get
to her because she starts pounding her leg as Alan leaves the
room and starts the videotape of Susan and the drugged Nick in
bed in Jamaica. This plays in the room Alex is in. (Susan keeps
saying "Oh yes, Nick!" overandoverandoverandover....). Alan then
puts in an audio tape of Vanessa and Matt talking about their
affair which plays in Vanessa's room. Vanessa is pissed.

Alex storms into the room where the videotape is playing and rips
it out of the VCR.

In her room, Vanessa rests her head on her knees. In the main
room, Alex angrily looks for Alan, who has taken off in a
helicopter. Meanwhile, Blake sleeps soundly in her room.

ED WRESTLES WITH HIS DEMONS:

Ed, Eve and Michelle stop by for dinner on their way home from
their weekend at the cabin. Ed and Eve discuss that Eve is going
to live in the garage apartment until after they're married. Eve
and Michelle chitty-chat about the trip while Ed is distracted by
a bottle of wine one of the waitresses is pouring.

Ed and Eve discuss the weekend and how they had to cut it short,
supposedly because of the suspected "prowler". Ed is fidgety
throughout the conversation and stares at the liquor behind the
bar.

Ed gets up and calls a friend about an AA meeting, but finds out
there isn't one until the next day. Ed returns to the table and
overreacts when Eve lets it slip to Michelle that they think
someone broke into the cabin, something they had agreed to not
let Michelle know about. A friend of Ed's walks by and reminds
Ed about a promotion party tonight (by County Line Road) for one
of Ed's employees. Ed has forgotten all about it. Eve and
Michelle encourage Ed to go to the party. Ed rushes off to
attend the party, still in his camping clothes.

Later, Ed enters a liquor store to buy a bottle of scotch for his
"friend's" party. Ed is very agitated and goes on about how good
a brand the scotch is.

Back at Company, Eve explains to Michelle that Ed was just tense
because he has to go back to his stressful job. Michelle says
she thinks it was because the cabin was the last place Ed saw
Maureen, and Eve agrees. Eve and Michelle decide to go home to
bed. Eve thinks the party might be the best thing to happen to
Ed.

On the side of some road (County Line Road, perhaps?), Ed stops
the car and seems to be wrestling with his demons. He appears to
lose as he picks up the bottle of scotch and stares at it.

JUST WHEN YOU THINK THINGS ARE LOOKING UP...

At Company, Bridget is on the phone with someone looking for
Matt, but she isn't successful in locating him. Dylan shows up
and Bridget says she blames herself for Matt leaving (she didn't
stand up enough for him when Dylan and Frank's lynch mob were
grilling him). Bridget doesn't know how much longer she can
pretend she doesn't know who Gabriella is. She wants Matt to
call.

Dylan thinks the key to everything is in Gabriella's tattoo. He
feels bad because David really liked her as a friend. Bridget
fills him in on the depth of David's feelings and vows her
revenge on Gabriella when the whole thing is over. Bridget is
also worried about Matt, who is in the middle of everything and
doesn't even know it.

Dylan tells Bridget that he's going to go down around County Line
Road (the sight of the last hijacking and the location of Ed's
friend's party) to look for clues because he feels like he needs
to do something. He takes off alone, but not before he and
Bridget discuss how things are really turning around for them.

Later, Dylan is searching for clues with a flashlight along
County Line Road when a car's headlights shine on him and the car
swerves to hit him.

Back at Company, Bridget worriedly waits for Dylan and hears the
sound of the sirens of the rescue crews who are hauling Dylan out
of the woods on a stretcher. The rescuers rush Dylan to
Cedars...
