			Guiding Light Update

===============================================================================

We open on a shot of a tattoo. It turns out to be Gabriella's. David knocks on
the door and she rushes to cover herself up. She let's him in, and asks him
about Matt. He says Matt never came back, and that she is safe. She says she
needs to tell him something about Matt.

Vanessa and Bridget at Company:

They are both appalled at the treatment Matt got last night by the
"lynch mob". Vanessa asks if Bridget has had a chance to talk to Matt, but
Bridget thinks Matt has skipped town.

Nadine and Buzz in bed:

A very tired -looking Buzz tells Nadine about Alan's grand entrance
at last night's engagement party. They snuggle a bit and talk about how good
their lives are going (new jobs and such). Nadine rises to put on some clothes
and Buzz pulls her back into bed.

Alex and Mindy at the Spaulding Mansion:

Mindy is worried sick about Nick. She's tried to get in touch with him,
but no luck. Alan-Michael walks in during her rant, and seems quite amused.
"Are we having trouble with the Spaulding heir-apparent?"

An arm in a bathtub:

It searches around, finding all sorts of silky undergarments. A voice
moans and the hand continues the search. The camera pans around the room. The
couch is knocked over, a plant is lying on the floor, and clothes are strewn
around everywhere. Finally, we see Nick's face in a mirror. He looks utterly
bewildered. "What the hell is going on?"

Alan-Michael, Alex, and Mindy:

Alan-Michael was invited here by his aunt. Mindy "doesn't like" any of
this, but she leaves anyway. Alex wants to know what's going on, what he and
his father have planned to do with her son. Alan-Michael pretends like he
knows what she's talking about. But the more she asks him questions, the more
she realizes he has no clue. "He's duped you too? Don't you know by now, he
doesn't trust anyone. Don't turn your back," she warns Alan-Michael.
Alan-Michael asks her why she's so sure Alan is behind whatever happened. She
just is. And if he is with his father, then he is an enemy of hers. Alex wants
to talk to her brother, but Alan-Michael says he's not available. She says,
fine, just give him a message. If he hurts Nick, she'll make him regret it.
Alan-Michael says Alan "won't treat his nephew any worse than you've treated
yours."

Nick:

He is trying to get dressed and get out of this situation. But there is lipstick
all over his shirt. He throws a few things out of his way, and reaches the
door. He finds a newspaper reporting the death of the woman he had his meeting
with last night. "I've been set up," he finally realizes. He grabs a towel
and starts wiping off the room.

Alan, Roger, and Susan

Susan says she feels sorry for Nick, though she doesn't seem to crushed.
Roger is totally thrilled. Alex is falling for it. He and Alan have a power
struggle about what to do, and who is boss, and they agree again they need
each other.

Nick:

He is breathing hard. And sweating. He thinks of something and grabs
his jacket. His passport is gone. He picks up a phone and dials mommy.

Alex:

Nick explains what has occurred. He has a "Mickey Finn hangover". And
he's being framed for murder. Alex shares the news about Alan, and his early
release. Nick wonders if Alan would really kill some innocent woman to further
his plans. He is going to try to fix up the room and then get out of there.
They hang up, and Alex thinks hard. Who can she call? Fletch? Ross? No, it has
to be Roger.

David and Gabriella:

She has backed out of whatever she thought to say, and now just says
she doesn't believe Matt is the one: "too nice to have done it." David says
"yeah, he's got a knack for that" [Huh? Since when did Matt treat any of these
folk nicely?] David thinks that there are just too many lies to explain.
Gabriella is visibly upset. "Sometimes people lie because they think they
have to. Maybe he didn't want Bridget to know the dumb way he'd been living
his life. Maybe he wanted to make a fresh start here." David doesn't buy it.
"To find out someone you've been close to has been hiding a big part of their
life. You just look at them...not in the same way." Gabriella thinks that
people can change. David agrees, but thinks that Matt is to far gone. The kind
of betrayal he's done is too much. Gabriella's immense empathy goes unnoticed.

Bridget and Vanessa:

Vanessa tells Bridget to tell her if Matt calls. They hug and Vanessa
leaves. Dylan appears at the window and catches Bridget's eye. She turns the
other way.

Matt in a cabin:

He's writing a note. There are crumpled pieces of paper all over the
floor. To Vanessa, he writes, that he plans to prove what the mob said false.
He crumples this one up too, and says out lout, "stop talking about it and
just prove it."

Dylan and Bridget:

Dylan isn't leaving until she talks to him. There is nothing to say.
He apologizes but says there was no other way to deal with Matt. He gave him
every chance. But she asks, "what if he were telling the truth?" Dylan offers
the facts. That Matt has lied to everyone. That he's on the run from the
cops. That he can't account for himself. It's all circumstantial he agrees,
but there's just so much of it. She says, she knows what's in her heart, and
that's all that matters. Dylan said he would let it go if it were some little
thing, but this is too big. He needs to protect her and Peter. Bridget loses it.
That her brother would ever try to hurt her is a concept that she can't
possibly believe. "I'm not going to give up on him," she affirms. Meanwhile,
Gabriella has eavesdropped on most of this argument.

Matt and Vanessa:

Vanessa opens the door and doesn't look the least bit surprised to
find Matt there. [Where is There? I'm not totally sure. Sorry.] "Hi", she
says. "Figured you'd know where to find me." Vanessa asks Matt why he didn't
tell her about the woman in Indiana, and he says he was just being cautious.
He's not running out on her, he's going to prove his innocence. But now that
he's seen how the Lewises' operate, he needs her to know his only crime was
in hitching a ride. She believes him about the hijacking. But she seems a
little more bewildered by the rest of the story.

Alex and Mindy:

Alex tells Mindy that Nick called, that he's tied up, but that he's
fine and will be back soon. Mindy says great, she'll wait for him to call
again. She sits down and after a few seconds asks Alex what she thinks of
the adoption idea. Alex says wonderful, if it will make you happy. "It will
make BOTH of us happy," Mindy semi-sneers. She leaves and Alex intones
"Another outsider named Spaulding? I don't think so Mindy."

Donna with some very odd hair-style, introduces Roger as "Pretty
Boy Floyd". Alex tells Roger a little bit about Nick's predicament, mostly
about the passport, but he won't bite. She tells him a bit more, and he gets
curious. "Are you asking me to rescue your son?" Alex yells at him. He
immediately responds "I offered my help as an equal not as a whipping boy and
I'll be damned if I'll put up with any abuse."

Alan and Jenna:

Jenna already thinks of Alan as the head of Spaulding. He offers her
a cut, and she says all she wants is her lotion company. He says he admires
her independence and she can count on his support. [Is this true? Is he good
on his word?] Jenna wants to be "beholden to no one".

Alan-Michael charges in, and demands to know why he didn't know about
the Nick caper. Alan says well now you know. Is there a problem? Well, yes,
maybe there is, says A-M.

Buzz and Nadine [be patient, there is a point to this storyline]

Nadine brings up the Jenna question AGAIN. He says that he and Nadine
"fit perfectly". Maybe they didn't when he was 25, in the "paleozoic" but here
in the "late Cretaceous" all is well. She laughs and kisses him.

Alex and Roger:

Alex apologizes. She admits the situation is more desperate than
she has allowed. Nick might be arrested for murder. "Alan outdid himself
this time," Roger says [seeming very fake, IMO]. She just wants Roger to
get Nick out; in time for the election, would be nice. Roger says he'll get
back to her and walks out. She says "when?", gets no response and is
exasperated. She picks up the phone, and

an instant later appears in Buzz's room. Startles the daylights out
of him. She's looking for Frank, but no luck. Buzz asks if he can help and
he manages to get a little out of her. But eventually she tells him she
"can't trust this to an amateur". [About here, this whole thing is getting
to be too much for me. Isn't Alex capable of doing anything herself? Why does
she feel a need to turn to a series of evil or incompetent males? She wasn't
always this way was she? TPTB need to get a hold of this misogynist slide, IMO.]

Gabriella on the phone at company:

She is trying to reach her uncle. [Probably that should read "uncle".]
David interrupts her and she immediately hangs up. He says he's going to
stay close to her day and night.

Bridget and Dylan:

Dylan is holding her. He wants to move back in to Company. She wants
him to too, but she's amazed at the irony. They had to pretend to be angry
when there was nothing to be angry over, and now after that's all over they
are having problems. He says he'll try to help Matt. She says she needs to
prove him innocent, and can Dylan open his mind enough to help her do that.
He says "yes".

Vanessa and Matt:

Vanessa says she trusts Matt completely when they are alone. But maybe
not in a crowd. He says he is the same guy in both situations. She says that
she's not the same woman. She doesn't know why she didn't say anything during
the grilling. Matt says he finally got to see through her eyes last night.
"You must regret the day you ever laid eyes on me." No her eyes say, and they
hug. He says they "better keep their distance" for now. He's going to go back
to Company, to pick up some clothes and then he's going to find out who the
hijackers really are. He needs to prove his innocence to Vanessa and to Bridget.
"Don't give up on me."

Alan-Michael, Alan, and Jenna:

Jenna tries to soften up Alan-Michael, but Alan insists that he vent.
He didn't tell Alan-Michael to keep him out of trouble. To protect him for
the presidency down the road. "In time, son, you'll learn to trust me."
Roger knocks on the door. Alan-Michael and Jenna duck out the back way, neither
having any desire to see Roger anymore. Alan lets Roger in and they fight again.
Roger thinks Alan is making a mistake letting Alex dangle. Maybe she'll turn
to someone else.

Jenna and Alan-Michael:

Jenna needs to tell Alan-Michael how Alan reacted when he thought his
son was dead. She says she knows he "loves you very much". Alan-Michael sort
of thanks her, and then comments on her. He says she seems different. "Yes,
I've put on some weight, thank you very much." No, that's not it. She seems
"harder". Offended again. She says no, she's "fat and happy".

Buzz and Alex:

Buzz really wants the job. He says he can handle it, that he kicked
Roger's ass once before and he can do it again. She says she would be
"eternally grateful". She gives him an envelope, and tells him her plane is
ready to fly. She leaves and he writes a short note to Nadine, saying he just
has a little errand to run.

Nick:

The police are at the door.

===============================================================================

I did it right for once! Yeah! Anyway, at the end of the show there was an
advertisement for a video of Roger in the old days. Does anybody know how
to get that? No story I'm more interested in.
