Guiding Light Update for Wed. 9/24
By Rhonda

Fair warning to readers----I do not have the last 7 minutes in this
recap due to loss of satellite signal during a storm in my area.

THE HOUSE THAT LOVE BUILT:
Vanessa is preparing for a dinner party for Dinah and Hart when Matt
arrives outside with Rick. They briefly discuss Vanessa's plan to
continue the pregnancy and Rick confirms "it is a bad idea". Matt is
hoping Rick can convince Vanessa of this as every angle he has tried
has failed. When they enter the house, Vanessa greets Rick and offers
that he can stay " provided I am not the topic of conversation".

THE LOONEY BIN:
Caitlyn is bemoaning the night's supper menu when Annie announces a
surprise picnic, during which they will eat lots of good food *and*
the host is Alan Spaulding. Caitlyn/Harley immediately remembers that
tonite is Mr. Fogerty's Bd. and she just has to be there with a cake!
Annie stalls----playing into Caitlin's nervousness----and insists that
she must stay and meet Alan. Caitlin manages to escape Annie's
clutches and run into the hallway.

THE SPAULDING MANSION:
Alan answers the door to a desperate Fran who has returned to beg for
more money. " I have nothing, no where else to turn" she explains. But
Alan is unmoved. He threatens that there is no more money and "if you
come near me or Annie again, you will regret it". Fran continues to
beg, reminding Alan that she gave up everything to help him. He ushers
her to the door and demands that she never appear again. As the door
slams in her face, Fran states, " You're totally heartless".

THTLB:
Rick immediately declines the invite to stay for dinner and insists
instead that they discuss Van's pregnancy. He emphasizes that time is
an important factor and "that everyday you continue on this course,
your remission could end". Vanessa, feeling backed into a corner by
both Rick and Matt, announces that she wants one night alone with her
daughter and Hart where there is no discussion of her health. Dinah
enters and senses from the tension in the room that something is awry.
" What's going on?" she asks. Rick makes a hasty exit as Vanessa down
plays the situation to Dinah.
Hart produces a bottle of wine and suggests a celebration to christen
the house. Dinah concurs, stating that the house was *built by your
love* and it should be christened. Vanessa avoids drinking her
glass----saying it is for the house and she will leave it on the table
as a tribute. ( gag) Hart then offers a gift to Vanessa----a small
gold heart shaped pendant, engraved with Dinah's birth date. He thanks
her for the day that she decided---at her young age----to have Dinah,
who has now become the love of his life. Dinah and Vanessa are very
touched as he says that he is "eternally grateful" .

ANNIE'S ROOM:
Alan announces that the picnic is a celebration as he has witnessed
the judge signing Annie's release papers. Annie is ecstatic with joy
and yips " I'm going home !"

IN THE FUNNY FARM COURTYARD:
Philip and Harley have gotten outside with the help of Phillip's pen
knife ( yeah, right). They prepare a picnic of ribs as Harley tells
Phillip that the caper is coming to an end because of the weird vibes
she is getting from Annie. Phillip is glad because "the dog misses
you". Wiping BBQ sauce off of Harley's face, Phillip offers a chilly
Harley his coat. He laughs that his jacket is getting more action than
he and compares himself again to Zeppo, of the Marks Brothers. Harley
describes Zeppo as tall, blond and handsome and agrees that Phillip is
similar in that regard. Phillip blasts a remark that Harley has paid
him a compliment and " mark the time and date!" He announces the date
is Sept.24 and. Harley realizes that it is her wedding anniversary.

BACK IN ANNIE'S ROOM:
Alan has unpacked a complete picnic----including glass items, which
are a strict no-no in psych wards--and admits he is nervous that
Harley is in with Annie. Annie says not to worry, that she has a plan
for Ms.Cooper. When Alan inquires about the plan, Annie avoids a
direct answer by bestowing Alan with compliments on his loyalty to her
and then kisses him passionately, stating " and that's just a
preview".

THE BAUER ABODE:
Rick is entering his home when he hears Abbey say hello. He turns in
surprise and gives her a welcome home hug. They go inside where Abby
tells Rick that she is ready to begin her life again. "I am not the
first person to be attacked and unfortunately, not the last." She
states that she wants to move back in with Rick and start anew. She
asks Rick to hold her.

PHILLIP AND HARLEY:
Harley cannot believe that she forgot her anniversary but Phillip
reminds her that she is starting over. Harley tells him how important
her anniversary used to be to her----planning celebrations and gifts
and dinner for Mallett. Phillip reminds her that Mallet is a jerk, a
fact that she agrees with, but nonetheless, admits that she has " a
gift for screwing things up" in relationships. Phillip reminds Harley
of her many endearing qualities but Harley states that she doesn't
have a knack for happy endings.

ANNIE'S ROOM:
Annie is packing up all the glass and food items as Alan warns her to
"stay away from Harley Cooper." Annie assures him not to worry and
that she will call him tomorrow when it is time to come get her. She
walks him out into the hallway where, after he has left, she steals
Caitlins chart from the cart that has been left alone in the
hallway(yeah, right)<<which by the way, there is a chart in the cart
with B Raines on it---weird,huh?>>

MATESSA'S:
Vanessa bids adieu to Hart and Dinah, all thanking one another for
dinner, gifts, etc. Vanessa tells Dinah that for all the mistakes she
made, having her was not one of them. Dinah notices how quiet Matt has
become at the mention of "gifts of life" but Matt explains that he is
tired. After H&D leave, Vanessa blasts Matt for not even trying to
have a good time. Matt counters--" If the gift of life is so important
to you, why are you throwing yours away?" Van walks away explaining
she does not want to talk about this anymore but Matt asks her to
stay----explaining that her pregnancy now is different than when she
was pregnant with Dinah. Now, she has an illness. " I just want you to
live, Vanessa!", Matt says. Van begs Matt to give the baby a chance.
Matt says if the situation were different, he would be thrilled with
the pregnancy. Vanessa states that she does not want a D&C----she
wants the baby and is sickened that Matt has lost faith in their
relationship.

PICNIC WITH HARLEY AND PHILLIP:
Philip reminds Harley that since the beginning of their relationship,
all she has done is bemoan her bad luck with men and degrade herself.
He says it has become one big "sob story" and he is sick of it. He
tries to explain to her the attributes that he finds attractive about
her but that they are overshadowed now by her negativity. Harley is
moved and hugs Phillip, calling him Zeppo and thanking him for being
there for her. Harley tells Phillip she will call him tomorrow and
admits that for all the chills that Annie gives her, she does feel
sorry for her.

ANNIE'S ROOM:
Annie has Caitlin's chart and has changed medication orders. She
returns the chart to the cart----which is still sitting unattended in
the hallway----satisfied that she has a big surprise for ole Harley
Cooper.

THE FARM:
Hart and Dinah are in bed, Dinah telling Hart how special last night
was because of the sweet things he said to Van and about her. Hart
remarks that every child is special and their baby will be ,too. He
wants to make love but Dinah says she has to go to the station. Hart
needs Dinah's keys from her purse, Dinah panics, and makes a hasty
grab for her purse, knocking it to the floor. The
contents----including her birth control pills, spill out onto the
floor, Dinah quickly hides them under the bed and encourages Hart to
take his shower. Dinah places the BC pills back in her purse.

MATESSA'S LOVE HOUSE:
Vanessa comes downstairs and asks Matt, who is on the couch, if he
slept. He admits no---that he never got used to sleeping without her
when she was gone, either. She tells him over and over how sorry she
is that they quarreled, hugs him, and begs for forgiveness.

THE BAUERS:
Rick is covering up a sleeping Abbey on the couch when Phillip enters
from the back of the house. They retreat outside and Rick inquires
about what Phillip has been up to. Phillip admits that he has been
with a girl at County General. Rick laughs and asks why? Phillip says
" well, you said I should meet some girls!" Rick counters with " yeah,
but one personality at a time!". Phillip says he will explain later,
that Rick has to get back to Abby. Rick returns inside and........

That's it-----storm hit and satellite transmission signal was lost.
