Guiding Light Update for Tuesday, September 16

by Cathy Geier

Outside Company

J helps Cassie with her bags. She is the new boarder in Room 3 at the
Boarding House. He invites her over to Room 2 anytime to listen to his
great sound system. Coming in to Company, Cassie meets Nola and Peter, and
immediately hits it off with little Petey, telling him she knows his Daddy.

WSPR

Hart is dropping Dinah off early at work, and they reminisce about how
wonderful they were last night and this morning. Hart remarks that sex is
even better since Dinah went off the pill. Dinah guiltily remembers taking
her pill after lying to him about going off it.

Mattessa's

Vanessa is sleeping with her head on Matt's lap on the living room couch,
where they have apparently spent the night again. Vanessa wakes up and
starts clucking about first trimester exhaustion and her appetite,
oblivious to (or purposely ignoring) his worried look and lack of sleep.
Matt cuts off her babbling with "You're talking like you are actually going
to have this baby!"

	Twirl Lighthouse

Matt is rushing to put on the clothes he keeps in the living room. Vanessa
is trying to get him to talk to her about what's bothering him, but she
really is trying to get him to see things her way. "Everything's going to
be fiiine, we'll work it out." Matt lashes back at her: "Last time you
only pretended to kill yourself, this time you're going to do it for real."

Company:

Michelle comes in and orders coffee from J. He tries to get her to talk
about her guy troubles. She doesn't want to go into the whole story, but
tells him she will most likely not be seeing Jesse again. J tells her he's
sorry to hear that and she accepts his sympathy.

Cassie offers to watch Petey for a little while for Nola. Nola starts
talking (of course) and gives her a little of Bridget and Hart's history.
They come back around to the subject of Dinah, and although she doesn't
like to gossip, Nola tells Cassie that she thinks Dinah is a rude, selfish
snob.

WSPR

Dinah, now a TV production expert, is directing her crew in preparation for
interviewing Dahlia and Marcus. Sugar tries to butt in and get her to
agree to allow him to review the final cut before airing it. Dinah
refuses, then wants to know why a big executive is taking such a personal
interest in a new talent. Drew and David are walking up behind Sugar and
overhear the question. Drew says "Go on Sugarman, tell her why."

Outside the Judge's chamber

Jesse meets Griffin. They review what happened with Roy and Abi. Griff
wants to know if Michelle is coming for the meeting with the Judge. Jesse
doesn't know, he hasn't spoken to her recently. He explains the agreement
he made with his father to stop seeing Michelle if his father drops the law
suit against the Bauers. Griff compliments him on his growth and maturity,
just as Michelle tiptoes in wearing a tight skirt and high heels. Jesse's
jaw drops and they stare and each other, transfixed.

WSPR

David tells Sugar he's just checking on his investment. Drew needles Sugar
to answer Dinah's question about Dahlia. He babbles for a minute about
coddling new talent, while Drew interjects sarcastic comments. David tells
Drew to leave this to the experts, then asks Sugar to introduce him to
Dinah, to whom he is obviously attracted. Dinah gushes about meeting him,
and he kisses her hand.

Mattessa's

Van explains that she is not talking about death. "This is what I want."
She tells him that if he believes what the doctors have said about the
dangers of her pregnancy, he must have lost faith in life and in their
love. He insists he is just being realistic. She reminds him that their
whole relationship has been based on miracles, including this pregnancy.
If she dies, at least she will have left him a part of her. She wants to
do something for him, like he built her the house. "Why can't I do that,
why can't I give you a future?"

After the commercial, Van is holding Matt's hand over her abdomen. Matt
pulls away. Van says "God works in mysterious ways and we don't always
understand. We have felt that presence in our lives, and I know why I'm
pregnant. It's because my prayers have been answered." She talks about
lying in bed for months when she was ill, and being comforted by God's
presence. At that time, she most regretted not giving him a child. This
child she is expecting now will be there to comfort one of them when the
other dies. She begs him not to try to take this from her. Matt softens
and they embrace.

Company:

Nola and Cassie continue to talk about Dinah and Hart. Nola doesn't think
Dinah likes kids, so she doesn't think Dinah is the right choice to raise
Peter. Cassie and Nola then compare notes on their failed relationships.
Petey comes back with his cereal bowl. Nola goes back to work. Petey and
Cassie are playing as Hart comes in and smiles when he sees them.

Judge's Chambers

Michelle tells the Judge she can't tutor anymore because of "other
obligations." They have made some progress, though, discovering Jesse's
dyslexia. Judge asks Jesse to read. He painfully reads a speech from
Romeo and Juliette.

Company:

Petey runs to Hart. Hart apologizes to Cassie again about the
misunderstanding with Billy. Cassie forgives him. They talk about the
boarding house.

WSPR:

Dahlia sings on camera. David invites Dinah to lunch. She can't, because
she is engaged.

Drew bugs Sugar about his feelings for Dahlia. She threatens to tell Daddy
about their night together. Sugar dares her to go ahead and tell David,
and warns her to stay away from him.

Drew goes to David and complains that Sugar is "paying too much attention
to the ladies and not to the music." He presses her to be specific. She
claims that Sugar has been coming on to her, "and it's starting to bother
me." David says he'll take care of it and goes over to speak to Sugar, as
Drew smirks.

After the commercial, David warns Sugar not to be personally involved with
rising stars. Sugar agrees and says that he is being totally professional.
While on the subject, David also warns Sugar to keep things professional
with his female employees. Sugar: "Is there a problem here?" No problem
says David. He loves his daughter, but she is young and volatile with a
lot to learn. That's why he assigned her to Sugar; he's the only one who
can control Drew. David warns Sugar to be careful and not be outsmarted by
Drew.

Dinah, Dahlia and Marcus finish the interview. David tries again, inviting
Dinah for a business lunch to thank her for helping to promote Duhlia. She
agrees, saying she knows just the place.

Company:

Cassie watches Petey and Hart together and remarks that he is a good
father. They share feelings about being separated from their kids.

Mattessa's:

Van is talking about what a happy future they will have "if we just
believe." Matt is trying. Van just *knows* they will have a happy ending.
She wants to make love. They start to kiss. Matt suddenly jumps up. "I
can't do that!"

Judge's Chamber

Jesse finishes reading. Judge is impressed with both Jesse and Michelle.
Michelle tells him she will be going to Springfield U, not Stephens
College. Judge sends them away with high expectations for the next
meeting. Jesse stops Michelle in the hallway. Why is she giving up on her
dream of going to her mother's college? Michelle says she is following
other dreams now and turns to leave. He calls her again. She stops. He
says forget it, and turns away.

Sugar's Hotel Room:

Sugar returns to find that Drew has let herself in to his room. She
continues to bug him about Dahlia.

Company:

David and Dinah walk in to see Cassie, Hart and Peter acting cozy. David
gapes at Cassie and says "the nanny??"

Matessa's:

Matt tells Van nothing is OK. He can't just make love and pretend
nothing's wrong. He can't face the possibility of losing her. "If you
love me at all, you won't make me watch you die!!" He rushes out of the
house. Van looks stunned.
