			GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE
		     Tuesday, September 24, 1996

A very slow day in Springfield...

Marler House: Ross has made breakfast for his little "daffodil"--sour
dough French toast. Much billing and cooing until the doorbell rings.
They try to ignore it as long as possible, but finally the knocking is too
much and they open the door to Dinah. She complains about Roger's "act"
and Ross agrees. Blake is unconvinced.

Midland Hills: Roger makes a crack about "stupid animals" but recovers his
cool when Hart enters. Pod Roger babbles about horses ("those stupendous
animals") and about wanting to give Hart back his farm. Hart says Dinah
already sold it to him for $1.00.

Meals on Wheels: Eleni is frantically running the diner by herself (Reva
can't be there because she's too upset about losing her apron!) when Josh
enters for breakfast. Enter Buzz complaining about Alan and asking for
Josh's help. A confused Josh says he already told Reva he wasn't going to
assist them in their Fifth Street endeavors any more. Now it's Buzz's turn
to be surprised...Reva never told him she saw Josh yesterday.

The Skinny Dipping Pond: Annie fishes Reva's apron from the water and
cries that Josh lied to her. She pops more pills. Enter Reva, commenting
"It doesn't look like much fun." They discuss Annie's medication and Reva
reclaims her apron.

Diner: Buzz is very upset about Reva's deception, but he tries to act
cool. Josh tries to cover, saying he saw Reva a few days ago. Buzz says
they didn't find out about the highway until yesterday and wants to know if
he saw Reva before or after her skinny dip?

Casa Marler: Blake and Ross argue about Roger's mental state. Ross yells
at Dinah about the gas lighting plot. Dinah tries to make excuses. More
boring Roger dissing in which Ross mentions his violence toward Holly and
the faked auto accident of a year or two ago. (They are beginning to
remind me of the bickering Spauldings.)

Midland Hills: Roger tries not to show he's upset about Dinah selling the
farm. He pretends he owns the farm until Hart reminds him that Dinah took
all his assets. In order to contain his temper, Roger hugs Hart and
launches into a sappy conversation about his dream of Hart's mother Laura
and her perfume.

Spaulding Mansion: Alex is happy Alan and Philip are mending fences, but
she's worried about Alan Michael, because she knows he's not responsible
for the trouble, either. She wants her necklace from the safe and since
only Alan knows the combination (this seemed very weird to me...I would
think Alex would demand equal rights about the combination to the safe.)
Alan opens it for her. Of course, the diamond necklace is missing, having
been stolen by Roger several weeks ago.

Midland Hills: Pretending he can't remember the name of Laura's fragrance,
Roger cries and Hart prompts him with "Shalomar," giving Roger further
proof of Hart & Dinah's deception. Hart then exits to discuss Roger's
condition with his doctors. The regular shrink is off today, but Dr. Barry
agrees to discuss the case with him.

Casa Marler. More petty squabbling about Roger's mental state. They
decide to go to Midland Hills to warn the professional staff that Roger is
faking his recovery.

Pond side: Reva tells Annie that she and Josh discussed Alan's latest
efforts against Fifth Street and that he declined to help her. She adds
that he only saw her naked by accident, and that it meant nothing to Josh.

Diner: Josh insists his meeting with Reva was accidental--don't make too
much of it. Buzz plays cool, but he's not.

Spaulding Mansion: Alex is upset about her missing jewels. Alan
condescends to her, insisting she must have forgotten where she put them.
They call for Amanda, who also knows the combination to the safe. When
questioned Amanda denies touching the necklace, and she remembers Roger's
gloved fingers removing the necklace under her supervision. Alex doesn't
believe her so Amanda offers to call the police to prove her innocence.

Midland Hills: Hart demands the doctors put Roger back together the way he
was, but Dr. Barry tells him the results of ECT are permanent. She says
she thinks Roger is calmer and happier now, and that he should be released
soon. When Hart complains about Dinah and the treatment, Dr. Barry assures
him Dinah did try to stop the treatment, but it was already underway.
Enter Blake, Ross, and Dinah. Dinah's angry because she thinks Hart's
checking up on her. They argue as Roger spies from behind a nearby door.
Ross tells Dr. Barry that Roger is faking this new calmness, but Dr. Barry
claims that's impossible.

Spaulding Mansion: Frank has taken prints from the safe and samples from
Alan and Amanda (but not from Alex).

Ye Olde Pond side: Reva claims she doesn't want Josh back, but Annie
doesn't believe her. Reva doesn't understand why she keeps looking for
trouble, telling Annie she's tired of always being accused. Annie claims
Alan told her that she and Josh will always love each other. Reva storms
off.

Diner: Josh insists on paying for his meal and gets up to leave the diner.
Buzz is shaken, but outwardly cool.

Spaulding Mansion: Alan wants to report the theft to the insurance
company. Frank identifies the third set of prints as Roger's. (No
explanation for the earlier glove scene.)

Midland Hills: More quibbling between Dr. Barry and Roger's relatives.
She refuses to believe he is faking it because nothing so far has been able
to set off his violent temper. Exit Dinah. Exit Dr. Barry for rounds.

Roger's Room: Dinah enters Roger's room, saying how amazing it is to see
him. When he inquires about the state of their marriage before his
commitment, Dinah begins revealing the entire truth about her activities
with Hart during the last six months. Roger strains every muscle, trying
to remain calm.

Spaulding Mansion: Enter an angry Reva. She immediately removes her
blouse, screaming "if you want it so bad, here it is!!" Freeze frame
closeup of Reva's chest and bra.
