Guiding Light Update, Wednesday Sept. 18, 1996

Note: I found this to be a rather boring episode. Not much action. Also,
sorry it's so late.

Boardinghouse
Quint tells Nola he's staying in Springfield. Nola wants to know why he'd
give up a prestigious job in California to teach a couple of undergraduate
classes at tiny Springfield U. "Because I want to be with you. And I want
to put our marriage back together", Quint replies.

Bauer Kitchen
Philip wants to know why Rick is on Annie's case about a few migraine
pills. Rick can't believe she talked to Philip about it.

Cedars
Annie is staring longingly at the medicine cabinet, but resist taking more
pills. She walks out of the room to find Alan in the hall. He compliments
her work on the trauma team, and says the board is pleased with their
work. Annie is glad Alan can take some time off. "From what?", Alan asks.
>From trying to destroy Buzz Cooper to get Reva back.

Diner
Buzz receives a registered letter from the transportation department.
They're going to raze the diner to put in a new road, which will "augment
the 5th St. redevelopment". Buzz immediately blames Alan, and Reva
promptly takes the blame for all their problems, and rushes out. Frank and
Eleni arrive. Eleni won't be working tonight, because she's helping Frank
study for the detective exam. Buzz shows Frank and Eleni the letter. They
blame Alan. Buzz laments the fact that Reva always blames herself.

Bauer Kitchen
Rick and Philip continue to discuss Annie. Rick explains Annie's history,
and why he thinks she's abusing pills. Philip wonders if Rick might be
missing this call.

Cedars
Alan tells Annie that Josh and Reva will be getting back together any time
now. Annie explains that Josh is helping Reva AND Buzz because he cares
about the people of 5th St. Alan reminds her how close Josh and Reva were
whey Shayne was injured. Annie says that's to be expected. Alan tells her
it's time to face the truth: "scrub up and come clean", he tells her.

Alley
Marcus has an offer for Dahlia about her music. An audition with someone
who really knows talent. Dahlia is afraid he'll tell her she has none.

Boardinghouse
Nola tells Quint she has a life and doesn't need him. She tries to convince
Quint of this by flirting with a completely clueless worker, Tom. Quint
doesn't buy it.

Bauer Kitchen
Rick and Philip discuss Annie some more. Rick is afraid Annie will lose
everything this time. Philip leaves, and Abby arrives.

Cedars
Alan and Annie argue some more. Alan tells her it's only a matter of time
before Reva gets Josh back.

A Pond
Reva remembers a conversation with Alan about how she still loves Josh,
then remembers her wedding to Josh, and finally a conversation with Josh
where he admits that he loves her.

Cedars
Alan and Annie continue to argue. Alan's the odd man out. Annie has Josh,
Reva has Buzz. Alan reiterates that Josh and Reva will be together. Mid
argument, Philip arrives to "rescue" Annie.

Bauer Kitchen
Abby offers to help Rick with his problem. Rick tells her she has no
experience with this type of problem because of her upbringing in Goshen.
Abby wants to know if Rick thinks she's just some kid who can't handle the
real world.

Boardinghouse
Caught in her lie about Tom, Nola gets defensive. Quint insists Tom isn't
Nola's type. He goes on to say he made a terrible mistake, and he was a
fool, but Nola's not. Nola wants some assurance that *IF* she agrees to
take him back, that the same thing won't happen all over again. Nola says
she has a good life, and she's not willing to take a risk with Quint again.
Quint tells her he doesn't want to live his life without her.

Diner
J and a girlfriend walk in discussing a recently taken test. Turns out the
girlfriend will be grading the test, so he'll do fine.

Alley
Marcus explains that Will Shepherd will be at Springfield U as a visiting
professor. Marcus got Dahlia an audition to be in his class. Dahlia is
thrilled and gives Marcus a big hug.

Cedars
Alan tries to whitewash his argument with Annie. Philip asks if he doesn't
have some orphans to foreclose on. Alan leaves. Philip apologizes for
Alan, and comforts her as she starts to cry.

Bauer Kitchen
Rick apologizes. He didn't mean to insult Abby. Abby explains that she
might be able to help Rick with his problems. After all, bad things
happened in Goshen, too. She goes on to say that when people in Goshen
failed, the people there rallied around to help. Together with their
faith, they got through. IN the end, their failings bind them closer
together.

Cedars
Annie apologizes for rumpling Philip's shirt. She asks why he's there -
his physical was perfect, impressive, even. Philip tells her he talked to
Rick. "Did he convince you I'm a raging druggie?", Annie asks. Philip is
sure she's OK. If she has a problem she'll know what to do and when to do
it. Annie is surprised that he has such faith in her.

Diner
J in schmoozing his new girlfriend with a story of how he, as a 3 year old
toddler, was responsible for the discovery of the Secret Tomb in the Great
Pyramid. Elsewhere, Buzz and Frank share some father/son time talking
about how much they love and trust their wives.

A Pond
Reva remembers a conversation with Buzz about how she's responsible for all
of Buzz's problems. "This isn't working", she mutters to herself. She
lays on the dock for a moment, then decides to go skinny dipping. No
sooner has she stripped, when Josh arrives.

Boardinghouse
Nola continues with her work, and tries to get Quint to leave. Before he
does, he shows her an artifact he just found. It's an Ascension Stick,
complete with the Thrush, Beaver and Moose symbols. Quint praises her
observations, and leaves the stick with Nola so he'll have an excuse to
come back.

Cedars
Philip and Annie go for donuts. Annie takes a last glance at the medicine
cabinet as they leave.

Bauer Kitchen
Abby and Rick continue their conversation about religion. It's people
helping each other, and with their faith they find hope.

Diner
Dahlia and Marcus join J at the diner. She tells J about the audition.
She's very excited, and J seems jealous of her attention to Marcus.
Elsewhere, Buzz worries about Reva.

A Pond
Josh watches Reva swim, get out and dry off. Reva suddenly notices that
Josh is there. Freeze on Reva smiling at Josh.
