*Billy comes home to comfort his son.
*Matt finds a gift from Vanessa.
*Dinah's too late to stop Rog's ECT.
*Phillip tells Annie about his trip to Arizona.

Let the show begin...

VANESSA'S BACKPORCH: Bridget sees that Hart is alone. She doesn't think
that it is a good idea for Hart to go to the memorial service. Hart says
he's going to pay is respects to a friend, there is nothing wrong with that.
Bridget asks about Roger's shock treatments and Hart tells her that Dinah is
going to have them stopped.

MENTAL HOSPITAL: They have just finished frying Rog's brains as Dinah gets
to his room. Dinah tells the doctor that she doesn't want Roger to undergo
ECT Therapy. The doctor tells Dinah that she is too late.

MEMORIAL SITE: (A new set, some sort of chapel that is bright with windows)
Annie walks into the empty chapel, sits down and talks to Vanessa. She says
that Vanessa was her first real friend in SF, Van always defended her. Annie
places a lily by Van's picture.

LOWHAD: Billy and Josh come in, Josh says they'll gather the children then
go pick up Bill. Billy wants to know how Bill is handling all of this. As
well as can be expected says Josh. Billy wants to help is son.

Commercial

Billy says it looks like Josh has done alright for himself. Josh agrees that
he has a nice life. But is it the life he always wanted asks Billy? On cue
Reva hollers down to Josh then comes down the stairs and sees Billy....they
hug.

REARDON LIVING ROOM:

Just as Matt is about to open Vanessa's test results Nola stops him.

**Roll Lighthouse**

Matt starts reading the doctor's letter and Nola grabs the letter out of his
hands.

MENTAL HOSPITAL: Dinah tells the doctor that Roger's son wants the ECT
therapy stopped. The doctor says that Roger is the perfect candidate, they
can discuss the details later on today. Dinah tells the doctor that she
cannot come back later, today she has to say goodbye to her mother.

CHAPEL: Annie's crying telling Vanessa that she really needs a friend right
now. On cue Phillip comes in asking Annie if she's okay.

LOWHAD: Reva tells Billy how sorry she is about Vanessa, she knows how much
Billy loved her. Billy cannot believe that his Vanessa is gone. At least he
has 24 hours leave as long as he wears the bracelet they gave him. Josh goes
upstairs to get the kids.

Billy said the happiest day of his life was finding out Reva was alive. Reva
talks to Dylan every week. Billy says Melinda is heartbroken that she cannot
make it to the service. Reva says H.B. is stuck in the South Pacific. Billy
wants to cut the small talk because he doesn't have time to waste. He wants
to know what the hell Reva is doin' married to Buzz when she's supposed to be
with his little brother.

Commercial

CHAPEL: Annie asks Phil about Arizona. Things didn't turn out how he had
hoped. Sometimes loving someone just isn't enough.

LOWHAD: Reva to Billy: "Here you are tagged like some homin' pigeon let
loose from the hoosecow (sp?) buttin' into my business." Reva tells Billy to
mind his own business. Billy reminds Reva that he cannot fool her because
he's one of the Lewis men she went through to get to Josh. He was there when
she stood up in front of God and everbody else and said that she loved Josh
and was never gonna let him go. Remembering Vanessa, Billy starts getting
choked up talking about how lucky Reva was to have that kind of love with
Josh. Like what he had with Vanessa, nothing changes that love, not even
death.

Marah comes in and sees Billy. Shayne runs to his Mama, he doesn't want to
go to the service. Reva stays behind with Shayne. On the way out the door
Billy kisses Reva and tells her that she may have fooled the town of
Springfield but he doesn't believe a word she says.

REARDON LIVING ROOM:

Matt wants to see the test results. Nola reads her version of the results
and spouts off "Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, Vision...what difference does it
make?" Matt agrees, what difference does it make. Zachary takes Matt
upstairs to get ready.

VANESSA'S BACK PORCH:

Hart asks for Peter. Bridget says he doesn't understand. When she told him
that he would never see Vanessa again he said, "That's okay cuz she loves me
no matter what." Hart tells Bridget not to worry he'll help with Peter,
she's not alone....they hug. Dinah comes in crying and Hart drops Bridget
like an old pair of shoes and runs to Dinah. Jet leaves and Hart asks Dinah
if she called off the shock treatments.

Commercial

Dinah says that ECT isn't really a big deal. Dinah told the doctor that she
didn't want Roger to have the treatments but she cannot talk about that
anymore she's too upset about her mother.

MENTAL HOSPITAL: Roger hasn't woken up yet from his shock therapy and the
doctors are concerned.

REARDON HOUSE: Josh, Marah and Billy are greeted by Nola who sends Josh
upstairs to help Matt.

Billy looks at pictures of Vanessa on the wall. Bill comes in and runs to
his Dad, he knew he would come. Billy says it feels good to hold his boy.

MATESSA BEDROOM: Zach is trying to get Matt to put his suit on when Josh
comes in. Zach leaves, Matt is glad about that. Matt doesn't want to talk
or listen. Josh tries to get Matt to get dressed telling him that he isn't
the only one who lost something. Matt: "I lost more than anyone else."
Josh tells Matt to think about Vanessa's children, and if the shoe were on
the other foot Van would be there for the people that need her. Matt says
he's not Vanessa he's one selfish son of a ...Josh doesn't buy it. Matt is
getting really pissed off, but he says he'll go and tells Josh to shut up.

Matt starts throwing his underwear, etc all over the bed when he finds a
present in his drawer from Vanessa. Matt cries for his Contessa.

REARDON LIVING ROOM: Bill and Billy agree that they both look good (Jordan
Clarke certainly does...he shed a few pounds while he was away and he still
lights up my TV screen!) Billy, Bill and Marah go upstairs to see Bill's
swimming medals. Nola glances at Matessa's wedding picture.

MATESSA BEDROOM: Matt reads the card from Van...(I hope I got this quote
right):

Dearest Matt,

How can it possibly be a whole year already. Time with you is compressed and
sweet, an eternity could pass with you near me and I would never notice. I
cannot take credit for the poem, Mr. William Butler Yeats wrote it a long
time ago, but it sums up my perfect anniversary wish for you. (Matt chokes
back the tears)

Long may you walk among dappled grass and plucked till time and time adorns
the silver apples of the moon, the golden apples of the sun.

Your loving wife,
    Vanessa
PS: I can't wait to do the next one.

Matt opens the present, it is a claddagh ring inscribed "To Matt Love Always,
Your Contessa"

Matt remembers the phone conversation he had with Vanessa on their wedding
day when she's thanking him for her wedding present (a gold/emerald claddagh
necklace). Matt cannot believe that they didn't even have a full year
together. Josh starts to speak but Matt tells him to get out.

VANESSA'S BACKPORCH: Dinah's telling Hart that she didn't have enough time
with her mother, but she had enough time to realize that Vanessa was a
wonderful woman. Hart says Dinah will remember Vanessa forever and someday
20 years from now she'll look in the mirror and see her mother staring back
at her.

Commercial

CHAPEL: Phil tells Annie about Lizzie's first day at school how he put her
on the bus then followed the bus to school even though he promised he
wouldn't. Lizzie said she was glad Phil followed her because she wanted to
give her Dad another kiss. This divorce is going to be the hardest thing
that Phillip has ever done.

VANESSA'S BACKPORCH: Dinah cannot say goodbye to her mother. Hart says Van
will always be with her. Hart will never leave her side, he refuses to let
Dinah go through this by herself.

REARDON LIVING ROOM: Billy thinks Bill could make it to the 2000 Olympics.
Billy tells his son that he is only there until 8AM tomorrow but not to worry
because he is up for parole real soon. Little Bill wishes his Mom could come
home on parole. He can't believe that he is never going to see his Mom
again. Billy tells Bill that if he closes his eyes and remembers his Mom
she'll be there plain as day. Billy does this all the time remembering his
boy. Just because he's not there it doesn't mean he isn't thinking about
him. Little Bill says its probably about the same time he's thinking about
his Dad.

Josh asks Nola if she got ahold of Quint...she hasn't. Nola wonders if Matt
is coming down. Josh says he wouldn't count on it.

Matt is upstairs crying looking at the sweet gift from his wife. He
remembers his wedding when Vanessa placed the wedding ring on his finger.
Matt places his new claddagh ring on his finger.

REARDON LIVING ROOM:

Matt, dressed in a suit and tie comes down the stairs and apologizes for
being late. He asks Bill how he is doing, and Bill introduces Matt to his
father. Billy and Matt shake hands and have a polite yet sincere
conversation. Matt: It's nice to finally meet you. Billy: Likewise. Matt:
It's good that you could make it. Billy: Yah, I loved Vanessa. Matt: I
know.

Everyone leaves for the service. Nola rubs Matt's shoulder then leaves him
alone. He takes his wedding picture off the mantle and with tears in his eyes
says "We only had a lousy year baby."

Cut to a woman knocking on a door. A nun answers, she's been expecting Mrs.
Reardon. We see a somber Vanessa dressed in a nun's habit without the
headpiece.

VANESSA'S BACKPORCH: Dirt hear the cars leaving. Hart says he'll follow
Dinah in his car. She tries to tell him about Roger but he stops her.

MENTAL HOSPITAL: Roger wakes up wanting to know what's happened to him.
Freeze Frame.

I say hats off to Kurt McKinney for (in my opinion) an outstanding
performance. My heart broke for Matt, and needless to say, Vanessa/Maeve
Kinkead will be sorely missed by this updater.
