  GOSHEN

Revecca is bandaging Alan's ribs. He says he's having back spasms. Reva
offers to make chamomile tea to relax "the soul as well as the body."
Alan suggests that she give him a massage instead. She does and he tells
her that her hands are like magic.

  COUNTRY CLUB PATIO

A-M, Lucy, Nick & Susan are at a table. A-M & Lucy leave, while Marian
(who is at a table with Alex) watches them. A-M shows Lucy the ring, it
belonged to his great-grandmother Bert, "say you'll marry me & make me
the happiest man alive."

COUNTRY CLUB (?) WEDDING, FORMERLY ENGAGEMENT PARTY

Matt hugs Vanessa. She says it's time to let Dinah go. Dinah, "I was
set adrift years ago." Marcus hasn't found the judge. He asks Dinah,
"Who's that honey with Matt?" Dinah, "My mother." Marcus, "You made her
sound like an old troll." Dinah, "She is, it's her day job." Ross &
Blake arrive. He brought the check, but tells Dinah that she shouldn't
do this (marry Roger). Dinah agrees, "Guess who's the new groom?" as
she holds Marcus' arm. Marcus goes to Vanessa, "Hi Mom. I have heard so
much about you." Van, "I can only imagine what you've heard." Ross
wants to talk to Marcus who says, "Yeah Dad?" Ross thought Marcus wanted to
help Dinah and marrying her is not what he had in mind.

Van tells Matt that Ross & Dinah are on their own, she doesn't know why
she wanted to control Dinah & her life. She knows that what he was
saying was right. Matt was saving Vanessa so that he could have her to
himself. They kiss.

Ross thought Dinah didn't want to see Marcus again. Marcus calls it a
friendly spat. Blake asks Dinah if Roger knows she's marrying Marcus.
Dinah tells her that Roger is out of town & out of the picture. Blake,
"Congratulations. So much for true love." Dinah, "Shutup stepmother!"
Ross tells Dinah it's not too late to change her mind. Dinah wonders why
he doesn't like Marcus now that they're getting married, "Perhaps you
only see things in black & white."

  PATIO

Lucy asks A-M if he really wants to marry her. A-M, "Just name the time
& place & I'll be there." He stood in front of the mirror practising &
it was either elope with himself or her. He wants an answer. She's
blown away, it's a dream come true. She wants to marry him, but she
hasn't taken the HIV test. A-M says the test results won't change how he
feels, whatever it is they'll face it together. Today, tommorrow,
forever. Lucy, "Till death do us part."

Nick asks Susan why she agreed to do the article. She admits that she
wants to spend more time with him. She tells him he can bail, but he
says he's not going anywhere. Alex interupts. Nick asks what she
wants. Alex, "Besides world peace & a VCR Ginger can work? Actually I
came over to say I'm sorry. Let's make peace." Nick introduces her to
Susan. Alex tells them that she's trying to take Marian under her wing &
show her a good time, but she's so nervous, she's dull. She's as dull as
she is homely. Nick, "Nice remark Mother." Alex, "Why, it's the truth.
She just stands there staring." <Marian is staring at A-M & Lucy>

Lucy doesn't know what to say. A-M, "Say yes."

  GOSHEN

Alan tells Reva she's very gifted & he thanks her for healing his body &
making him remember his soul, his had been buried & deeply bruised. She
asks if she massaged anyone in Springfield. He tells her no, but she did
help people. She was someone who needed to be needed. He tries to kiss
her. Abigail arrives. She's embarrassed, but Reva tells her that she
was treating him for a back spasm, that's all. Reva asks Abigail to help
her serve dessert. Alan asks what he can do. Reva, "You have done quite
enough. Put on your shirt." Alan is impressed by their homemade sign
language. Abigail explains why she was late, while Reva interprets.

  PATIO

Lucy says it would be easy for her to say yes, but she can't. She needs
some time & gives back the ring. A-M wants her and nothing is going to
change that. She leaves. Susan goes to freshen up. <So does Marian.>
Alex tells Nick that Susan is a lovely girl. Nick, "And you wouldn't
know that she's HIV+. Isn't that what you were about to say?" Alex says
there was a time when she would have, but she trusts his judgment &
doesn't want to interfere with his personal life again. A-M comes over &
tells Nick he did it. Alex, "Did what?" A-M, "Learned how to foxtrot.
Pretty nifty." Alex, "I wouldn't know. I only go back as far as the
cha-cha."

  WOMEN'S RESTROOM

Lucy tells Susan about the proposal. Susan thinks it's great. <Marian
listens outside the door.> Lucy mentions how great A-M is & how he saved
her. Susan asks about the date of the wedding. Lucy says she can't say
yes until after the HIV test. Susan doesn't think it matters, "you can't
spend the rest of your life waiting to die, live for the here and now.
Love is like good health, it's a very dangerous thing to take for
granted." Marian walks in & asks if she can join them.

  WEDDING BALLROOM

Ross tells Dinah that the man's skin color is not the issue, he could be
Stewart plaid & he'd still be against the matchup. She should get
married for love. Vanessa tells him that what they think is not the
point, it's what Dinah thinks. Dinah can't believe that her mother is
finally making sense.

The judge arrives. Dinah asks if he has the license.

Ross asks Vanessa why she's not upset that their daughter is marrying
just to get her trust fund. Van, "At least it's not Roger." Ross,
"She's selling herself & you don't seem to care." Vanessa does, but
she's not going to change the trust fund or give in to Dinah's emotional
blackmail. Ross wants her to keep Dinah from making a huge mistake.
Vanessa wonders about the next time. Ross can't think that far ahead.
Vanessa, "We have to love her & let her go." Ross, "We never had her to
love in the first place."

Dinah tells the judge she wants a bare-bones, no-frills wedding. Van &
Ross ask if they can stay for the wedding. Dinah tells them they can,
Roger is paying for the spread, so his loss is their gain.

The ceremoney begins & Dinah tells the judge to speed it up. Judge, "If
anyone here can show just cause why this couple should not be lawfully
wed, speak now or forever hold his peace." Roger, "What the hell is this?"

Roger, "How did my engagement party turn into a wedding?"
Dinah, "It's the funniest thing. See, somewhere between sorting your
laundry & forwarding calls to Leo, I woke up and realized that my mother
& my father, Matt, even precious Chrissy, they were all right about you."
Roger, "You've let them turn you against me."
Dinah, "I've let them? No, you did it, by playing your stupid games with
my family. Even sucked me in for awhile. No more, Roger. I don't need
the grief & I don't need you. All I ever wanted was enough cash to have
fun & a pal to share it with."
Roger, "You think Marcus is that man? This mooch, this con man, this spy?"
Marcus, "That's it, no cake for you."
Dinah, "You can take your dossier on Marcus & file it where the sun
doesn't shine."
Roger, "I don't blame you for being sore & doubting me. I shouldn't have
left you alone to be vulnerable to their lies, but don't give up on me &
us."
Marcus, "This is what's called shining."
Roger, "Don't throw away what we have."
Ross, "You have nothing but lies."
Matt, "Don't let him get to you."
Roger wants five minutes alone with Dinah.
Blake, "Don't listen to him."
Dinah asks them to leave her alone to deal with Roger, "Go to the bar,
have drinks, & put it on his tab." They leave.
Roger, "There's so much I want to say, but I can't get past how beautiful
you are."
Dinah, "Cut to the chase. I have a heap of dough coming & a plane to catch."

  PATIO

Alex wants to talk business with A-M, but he wants to talk about
something else. Alex thinks it's great that Nick is taking an interest
in Susan, she wishes someone would be interested in poor Marian. She
turns to look at Marian, but she's gone. Alex thinks Marian must have
gone to freshen up, "not that it would do the poor darling much good."
A-M, "Ouch." Nick, "What do you say about people that you don't like?"
Alex, "Excuse me for speaking the truth. Might as well join the girls.
You two grumpy gusses can keep each other company."

After she leaves, Nick asks A-M about the proposal. A-M tells him that
Lucy needs time, "I never thought I could love this way again." Nick
wouldn't have believed A-M could either, but now he's alright-- for a
Spaulding, "Lucy will know that too." A-M says it's not him, it's Lucy.
Even though Brent is dead, Lucy thinks he can hurt her.

  RESTROOM

Marian is next to Lucy. Lucy reaches over to fix Marian's makeup, but
Marian pushes her away because "she has sensitive skin". Susan wonders
if she should get a makeover. Lucy suggest they all go. Marian
declines, she tried that once & "this is as good as it gets".

Alex arrives as they are leaving. She tells Susan that her hair is
falling & will help her with it. Susan asks if she is afraid to touch
her. Alex know show HIV is trnsmitted and a substantial amount of her
charitable donations go to AIDS research. Nick's article will help
educate the public & tells Susan she hopes she knows what she's letting
herself in for. Nick is just like her & they are both ruthless, when
they want something they do whatever it takes. He'll get his big scoop &
once that's done, he's off and running to the next challenge. Nick has a
way of making his subjects feel personally & professionally important to
him. There's another side to it, "You have enough to deal with besides
letting yourself in for heartbreak." Susan leaves & Alex grimaces.

  PATIO

Alex joins Marian & asks for the check.

Susan returns & tells Nick that she's tired & has to go. He is going to
take her home, but she refuses & wants to take a cab. She doesn't want
to spoil his evening. She leaves. Marian stops by the table to say
goodnight to Lucy & A-M. Alex suggests to Marian that next time they
should double date. Alex asks Nick if Susan is alright.

  WEDDING BALLROOM

Roger doesn't blame Dinah for being sore, but doesn't want her to doubt
that he loves her. Dinah admits that everyone was right about him, even
the people who don't like her warned her. "They said you're selfish,
arrogant, sneaky & you are." She can't believe he had Marcus
investigated. He says he wanted to protect her. Dinah, "You're good,
but not as good as you think you are or you would have found out about
the marriage clause in my trust fund. The money is about to be mine &
it's millions."
Roger, "That's how Marcus came to be groom. Give me a chance."
Dinah, "I gave you a chance when I took Matt's suggestion to ask you to
elope. If you really loved me, you would have jumped at the idea. If
you'd known I'd come into my millions, you would have married me without
the audience."
Roger, "You think this is about money?"
Dinah, "You never wanted to marry me. You wanted to scare my mother &
father, pay them back for standing up to you."
Roger says she's wrong & he can prove it.

Roger says her money means nothing to him, he wants to give her something
her parents never have. She thinks they do love her. Roger is talking
about respect, she was abandoned but fought her way out & made her own
destiny. They are kindred spirits, he doesn't want the petty words of
small minds to tear them apart. He wants her in his life. Together they
are invincible. He lost his daughter & grandson to be with her, if she
leaves he'll have lost everything. Dinah knows that giving up Blake &
Peter was his way of saying "screw you" to Vanessa & Ross. Roger says it
started out that way, but it changed. For the first time in his life,
he's with the right woman. He writes, "I hearby renouce all claim to
Dinah Marler's trust fund" on a napkin & gives it to Dinah. He tells her
if she has to marry someone tonight, marry him. He loves her & knows in
his heart that she loves him.

  SPAULDING ENTERPRISES

Marian sits at Lucy's computer, lights a cigar, "Now we're going to find
out how much Lucy loves her man, after he falls on his face. And how
much he loves her when he finds out it's her fault. But since Brent &
Alan aren't here to help, it looks like Marian will have to step in."

  GOSHEN

Alan tells Reva that he wishes they could take Abigail somewhere where
thay teach the deaf because she's so bright. Reva tells Abigail to go
home & after she leaves, Reva turns to Alan, "How dare you!" Alan was
trying to be polite, "Is that a crime here in Petticoat Junction?" Reva
tells him it's not his place to suggest anything for Abigail, because he
doesn't know what her life is like. He says Reva doesn't know what
Abigail's life could become if she could overcome her disability. Reva
says Abigail doesn't see herself as disabled & they love her the way she
is. Alan thinks Abigail shouldn't be condemned to a cloistered existence.
Reva says there is nothing wrong with the way they live and she doesn't
want to go back. Alan never said where he'd take her, doesn't she want
the best for Abigail? Reva know it's not Springfield. Alan tells her he
can make anything possible, they can go any place.

  PATIO

Alex is sorry Susan left, she'd like to get to know her better. Nick
says she might. Alex asks Nick to go home with her for a nightcap &
leave the lovebirds <A-M & Lucy> alone. They leave.

Lucy tells A-M that Susan gave her good advice about his proposal. A-M
asks if that translates into, yes, she'll marry him.

  BALLROOM

Roger asks Dinah to marry him & give him a chance to love her the way she
deserves to be loved.

Marcus, "What's up princess? The clock's ticking & this boy's itching.
If we're going to do this, let's get it done."
Dinah gets a waitress to tell the rest of the group that the wedding is
about to start. Dinah stands between Roger & Marcus.
Ross, "Oh joy, a wedding. So, who's the groom?"
Dinah looks at both Roger & Marcus and just smiles.
