O.K. gang, the complete Wednesday updates are back (thanks go out to Karen
for her mini-updates). Lucus and I have decided to alternate weeks, with me
starting first. Now, this is my debut update so if you have any
suggestions, please let me know (but please be kind :) ).

UPDATE FOR WEDNESDAY 9/13
Today's enigma: "How blind, deaf and/or oblivious is Lucy?"
GL tip for the day: "Throw out your Tylenol and think happy thoughts."

AMISHLAND:
Alan is exceedingly restless today. He's going crazy without a TV
or newspaper in sight. He says he must get back to reality. "This is real
Mr. Spaulding," retorts Revecca. Alan asks her to call him "Alan," because
after all they were married. "Not in my memory," she quips. Alan goes on
complaining about his boredom.
R: "You need something to keep your hands busy."
A(with a devious smile) "What did you have in mind?"

THE LEWIS/CHAMBERLAIN HOUSE:
Cut to Matt and Vanessa. He's been holding her by the arm since we left
them yesterday.
        M: "I love you."
V: "Stop! Don't do this to me. I'm still really angry with you."
Matt says he's missed her and has been crazy without her. He pulls her
tight and kisses her passionately. She struggles for about 1/2 a second
then returns the kiss.

CEDARS:
Lilian sits in the room where the counseling session was.
Alan-Michael enters, inquiring as to Lucy's whereabouts. Lilian speculates
that Lucy went to check on Marion who was very upset. AM asks about how Lucy
did in the meeting. Lil assures him that she was great and the therapy is
just what she needs. When asked whether Lucy is probably at Marion's place,
Lil responds yes. But she adds that AM should give them some time together
since they have a lot to talk over.

BATES MOTEL -- MARIBRENT'S ROOM:

Cut to a close up of MariBrent's hand as s/he locks the door. S/he turns to
Lucy, "I wasn't expecting you" (wait a minute that's not what the spider
said to the fly, was it?)
L: "Well I was worried about you."
        MB: "Well, I'm fine."
L: "You don't look fine" (Hah - you don't know the half of it)
Lucy apologizes for coming unannounced, but thought Marion might not want to
be alone. Lucy keeps assuring her(him) that she did the right thing by
coming to the meeting, that she can get past all this etc. After an awkward
pause Lucy gets up to leave saying that she shouldn't have come.
        MB: "Don't go."
        L: "Are you sure?"
MB: "Positive." as we zoom in for a close up to see Brent's best
psychotic smirk.

ROLL LIGHTHOUSE

MARIBRENT'S ROOM:
MariBrent takes a scarf that's been draped over a mirror and wraps
it tight around his hand. He returns to the sofa, sits and picks up a pair
of scissors and carresses the blades. His face tenses as he appears more
and more angry. A whistle is heard. Lucy returns from off screen with some
tea. MariBrent sets down the scissors and tries to regain composure. Lucy
starts chattering about how cozy Marion's room is. All the while MariBrent
is twisting the ends of the scarf around each hand (real subtle huh?) "What
is it? (asks Lucy in her best Little Red Riding Hood voice.) Are you O.K.?
Is this about what happened this afternoon?" MariBrent appears to be getting
tenser and tenser. Lucy keeps urging Marion to talk about her feelings
--let it all out. MariBrent says s/he's all right. We pan down to the scarf
wrapped tightly around his hands.

DINER
Cut to a close up of tarrot cards being laid on the table. We hear
a gasp and pull back to see Nadine's shocked face. "This card feels like
danger, it gives me goose bumbs. I must be getting really good at this
Buzz," she insists. Buzz groans and dismisses it as silliness. Nadine
doesn't understand why she's getting this creepy feeling with this
particular card. "Somebody's in trouble." She's sure the card is sending
her a message. Buzz makes fun of her. She retorts that he wouldn't find
this all so amusing if it was about "that woman." She storms off into the
kitchen, Buzz follows.

Susan and Nick enter the diner and sit down at a booth. Susan tells Nick
how glad she is that he didn't give up on her -- "I'm glad you kept pushing
me for this date."

Buzz and Nadine stand in the kitchen. Buzz suddenly looks at Nadine
suspiciously. "Wait a minute, there's something you're not telling me. I
know you." Buzz continues to prode her. He asks her if it is about the
woman in Goshen. Nadine stands silent. "I'm right, I knew it," exclaims Buzz.

AMISHVILLE:
Revecca slaps down some silverware to dry in front of Alan.
A: "I said I was bored, not looking for a housekeeping position."
R: "You need to start earning your keep."
Revecca chops vegetables while Alan reluctantly dries the silver. Alan
wants to know what "you people" do during these long autumn nights. She
explains that the women quilt, make candles...Alan wants to know about any
co-ed activities. Exasperated, Revecca changes the subject. She comments
on Alan's lack of Kitchen accumen. He replies that actually he spent a lot
of time with the family cook, Vera, in the kitchen. Alan relates a story
about the good times he had with Vera as a child. "That woman knew how to
have fun." Revecca asks if Alan had a happy childhood. This time Alan
changes the subject. He picks up a couple of spoons and tries to play them
on his knee. He and Revecca laugh. She asks him more about his childhood
and admits she remembers nothing of her own. She snaps out of her reverie
and decides to get back to work. She thanks Alan for helping. Alan grips
her hand momentarily as he says, "no problem."

CHEZ VANESSA:
We cut to Matt and Vanessa kissing. Vanessa breaks away and accuses
Matt of betraying her. She wants to know why. Matt says he was trying to
get Dinah out of their lives. She says it was not his decision to make.
Matt explains that he was just tired of sitting back and watching them drift
apart. Vanessa denies that it is happening and what does he expect her to
do anyway, Dinah is her daughter and she's never going to send her away
again. Matt inquires as to whether Van has ever thought that Dinah would
really prefer to be somewhere else -- back in France living the good life.
Vanessa says no, all she can think about is how Matt's made everything worce
and now she's got to fix it.
Matt moves in closer to Vanessa and strokes her hair as he asks her whatever
happened to the couple they used to be -- the ones in the cave, in their
little hideaway on 5th St., during the fire when they realized how much they
meant to one another. He longs for it to be that way again -- "two people
who don't need anyone else in the world." As he pulls her closer he
whispers, "I want my contessa back."

When we return from the commercial, Matt is still asking Van why things
can't be the way they used to. Vanessa says her life is complicated, he
knew that when they got involved. He says, that's not the point. The
problem is these games everyone's playing. Vanessa exclaims that it's not a
game, it's her daughter's life. "Then let her live it," he demands. "Stop
falling for these adolescent bids for attention." Matt explains that that
was what he was trying to do -- stop the games. Matt reminds her of all the
dreams they had and decided it was time to get back to them -- or doesn't
that matter anymore to Vanessa? Van says yes of course it does, but she
must have a place in her life for her daughter.
M: "And if you do there won't be any room for us. Maybe that's not
important to you anymore."
V: "Now who's making the adolescent bid for attention here?" (Ice
Princess at her best)
Matt turns away, Van tries to apologize. "Maybe you really don't want to be
married," states Matt.

AMISHLAND:
Abigail flies into the room, frantically searching for Reva (who has
gone outside for water). Revecca comes in and asks if it's another
headache. Abigail nods in affirmation.

DINER:
Susan and Nick order their meal. Nadine plays with her card again
and says that maybe the card could have to do with Buzz and "the woman."
Back at the booth, Susan takes out a large box and removes a dozen or so
pills. "Aren't you going to ask me what they're for?" Nick figures she'd
tell him if she wanted to. She explains that they're a mixture of vitamins,
herbs and medicine that will hopefully help her live a long life. Nick asks
if this was a test. She says she guessed it was and he passed because he's
still here.

MARIBRENT'S:
Maribrent still paces with the scarf -- Lucy tries to calm her down.
MariBrent says s/he's angry and upset because "those women ganged up on
me." Lucy assures her they were just trying to help. Lucy goes on trying to
tell Marion that she understands. MariBrent says no, she doesn't. Lucy
says she was raped too. S/He says that you wouldn't know it from looking at
her. Brent circles the sofa where Lucy is sitting, the scarf wrapped
tightly around each hand. She says she's worked very hard at not letting one
night ruin the rest of her life. Brent stops right behind Lucy and moves in
holding the scarf as if he were going to strangle her. "One night did ruin
mine, my future gone because of one person," he snarls (with only the most
feable attempt at disguising his voice). He backs off. Lucy again says she
understands. "No, you think you do Lucy, but you don't. Not yet anyway.
You will."

HALFTIME

There is a knock on the door of Marion's room. It is Alan-Michael looking
for Lucy. Lucy says she hates to leave Marion alone, but MariBrent insists
that the coouple be on their way. After they leave Brent mutters,
"Alan-Michael, have a good evening," he whispers. "Tomorrow's another
day."(Somehow it had a totally different connotation when Scarlett O'Hara
said it)

VANESSA'S:
Vanessa says she can't let Dinah go no matter how much she loves Matt.
Matt says that he thought by getting rid of Dinah, he could get rid of the
games, but he couldn't. He says he can't live his life this way and walks
out leaving Vanessa slightly teary-eyed.

Henry comes in and sees that something is wrong. Vanessa says she goes to
Europe for three weeks and everyone goes stark raving mad. Henry admits
that he knows about Roger and Dinah and Matt's plan to get Dinah her money.
Vanessa is still hurt by Matt's actions. Henry tries to convince her that
though Matt's idea wasn't the greatest -- he was trying to help because he
loves Vanessa so much. She doesn't know if she can trust Matt, but Henry
tells her to be careful and not to give up such a great love.

BOARDINGHOUSE:
Nola is helping Bridget prepare some exotic recipe that Nola learned
while abroad. Nola sorts throught the mail and sees that the letters she's
written to her children have been "returned to sender" (insert your Elvis
impersonation here). Reeling from this, she starts in on Bridget about the
cutody agreement with Vanessa. "Your children are the most important thing
in your life." Matt comes in and Bridget starts talking about his wedding.
He tells her to forget about the wedding.

AMISHLAND:
Revecca is still treating Abigail for her headache and dizziness
(her treatment consists of telling Abigail to have happy thoughts while she
rubs cold compresses on her head and neck.) Alan looks on with interest.

BOARDINGHOUSE:
Nola tries to "console" Matt with her usual anti-Chamberlain rant.
"Trust me. The Rearson's and the Chamberlain's don't mix." He gets fed up
and leaves the kitchen.

OUTSIDE THE DINER:
AM and Lucy stop outside the door of the diner to share a kiss. He
said he was glad he came and got her from Marion's. "I had a strange
feeling you needed me" (well you're far more perseptive than Lucy and she
was there). She says he sound like Nadine, besides she always needs him.
She comments on how sorry she feels for Marion.

INSIDE THE DINER:
Nick and Susan munch on their fries. Nick can't believe Susan has
never been to a baseball game. He kids her about being "culturally
deprived." AM and Lucy enter and join them at their table. Nick clues them
in on Susan's baseball illiteracy. Apparantly she doesn't even know who won
last years world series. Turns out AM doesn't either. Lucy kids him about
not ever getting past the business page. They finally remember that there
was a strike.

MARIBRENT'S:
"You almost blew it," yells Brent (sans Marion mask) into the
mirror. He castigates himself for straying from the plan and almost losing
his control. He vows to bide his time so he can make them feel as
"humiliated, demeaned, abandoned and ruined" as he did. "And then they
die." (DUM-DI-DUM-DUM-DUUUUUMMMMMM)

MUSICAL MONTAGE: A sad song plays
We dissolve back and forth from Matt standing on the porch of the
boardinghouse looking miserable to Vanessa seated on her sofa looking
equally miserable.

DINER:
The foursome decide to go out and enjoy the lovely evening. They
say goodbye to Buzz and leave. All alone now Buzz picks up Nadine's tarrot
cards, shuffles them and draws one. It's the same card Nadine kept getting.
Nadine comes into the room and sees Buzz with the card. She tells him if
he's so interested in the future, he ought to go out and live it.

AMISHLAND:
Revecca comes back in the room and announces that Abigail is
sleeping. Alan stands there gazing at her (with his best Tangie leer). "I
wish you would not look at me that way" (you're not the only one). Alan
tells her that she's an amazing woman, full of surprises, but then wasn't
she always. They gaze into each others eyes.

DINER:
Buzz is once again alone in the diner. He takes out the map and
vows to find "her."
