****Guiding Light Update for Monday, September 19, 1994****

Storylines, in no particular order:

TANGIE AND A-M:

A-M thanks Tangie for everything: the Dr., no questions, etc.,
but that he didn't want it to cost her. He wants to know who was
at the door. Tangie says it was just Blake, and mentions that
she finds it hard to imagine Blake and A-M were married. A-M
syas they were different people then. Things are strange to him
now. Tangie says Blake is on his side, and that when she saw
Blake, the subject of his father came up.

A-M freaks at the mention of his father. Tangie tries to
reassure him, but A-M heads for the door, saying his father tried
to kill him. Tangie tries to stop him and they start wrestling.
She wrestles A-M back to bed and yells at him not to move from
the bed. Tangie and A-M stare at each other, then Tangie says
she's had enough -- time to call the police. Especially if his
father tried to kill him. A-M protests that "they'll stick him
in prison again." Tangie says he's trying to protect his father
and isn't thinking straight.

A-M declares he wants answers and wants to leave. Tangie won't
let him. She tells him he's being selfish because it involves
someone else, too. A-M wants to know if it was the guy who
brought the Dr. Tangie says yes. A-M asks if it was an old
boyfriend. Tangie says no, but by asking for his help, she may
have given him encouragement. A-M says he's sorry to do that to
her. She says he would have died if she didn't. She's not
scared of the guy, she just shouldn't be around him. As a favor
to her, Tangie wants A-M to stay there awhile. A-M agrees.

ED AND EVE:

Lillian walks in on a sweaty, tired Eve who is changing out of
surgical scrubs in the Dr.'s lounge. Lillian tries to get her to
sleep, but Eve says it feels good to work. Lillian wants to know
what happened. Eve says the move didn't work out (I guess I
missed something... where did this come from?). Lillian tells
her that Ed has called several times, but Eve doesn't want to
talk to Ed. Ed appears in the doorway in time to overhear this.
Ed, in his best stalker imitation, says, "I tracked you down!"

Eve and Lillian go into another room where Eve chastises Lillian
for trying to help. Lillian denies doing anything. Eve doesn't
want to talk to Ed. Lillian says she can tell Ed is very upset
and that Eve owes him a chance to explain. Lillian leaves. Ed
is still waiting when Eve re-enters the main lounge. She tries
to blow him off, but he won't let her. He says he overheard Bill
and Michelle. Eve doesn't get it. He tells her that Bill said
all Ed and Eve were doing was "shacking up." Eve: "Yeah. Out of
the mouthes of 13 year olds." :) Ed blurts out a proposal.

Ed tries to back up the conversation to explain what he had
rehearsed saying in the car on the way over to the hospital. He
starts blathering on about the difference between their ages and
claims he was afraid about something permanent because of this.
He doesn't want to hurt their relationship. Eve brings up the
subject of her emotional stability-- did he think about it?
Everyone else will. Ed says he just wants to stand next to her
forever. He doesn't want people to think they're just shacking
up, something that's temporary. He wants the world to know that
he's found someone who makes him happy. He wants to spend the
rest of his years (as your friendly updater says "or at least the
next couple of months") making her as happy as he is. Will she
let him?

Eve says the age difference was never an issue. She reads Ed the
riot act for thinking it was. Eve tells him how much he means to
her, blah, blah, blah (sorry, I simply cannot stomach writing
down all this syrupy pap!). She alludes to the incidents with
Nick and Mindy and the mental hospital. She is glad it all
happened in a way, because it let to her relationship with Ed.
They discuss how Eve doesn't want to mess things up with him and
Michelle. Eve says she does want to marry him. (So, does anyone
want to start a contest on how long this marriage will last, or
if it will even take place?)

THE WEDDING:

Jenna walks in and sees the end of Buzz and Nadine's wedding.
She cries "He can't, He can't!" (of course, even though she's
only 10 feet away, no one hears her!)

Jenna looks on as Buzz kisses the bride; a very passionate kiss.
The family swarms in and congratulates them (Lucy, Frank and
Stavros-- Eleni is back at the hotel watching Marina). Buzz asks
the Justice of the Peace if he does divorces because he needs one
right away. :)

Nadine and crew keep the JOP and his wife distracted as Buzz
tries to change the date on the marriage certificate. A cabbie
comes in to take them to the show as Buzz finishes up his
forgery. Buzz shows Nadine his work, and she is concerned that
it won't fool the Soulmates lady (I swear Nadine called her
Reeka...sorry, I can't remember her name.). Everyone hightails
it out of there, enroute to Soulmates.

SOULMATES TAPING:

Meanwhile, pandemonium has hit the Soulmates set since Buzz and
Nadine are nowhere in sight. The EvilSoulmatesWoman says that if
the Coopers are not there in 5 minutes, they'll be disqualified.
She sends the female cohost, Hannah, out into the audience to
look for a couple to be a replacement for the Coopers. (Here is
where the audience member says she is from Springfield, MA,
sparking much debate on the discussion list about the location of
GL's Springfield).

Suddenly, the Cooper Crew arrives in the studio, and the camera
follows Buzz and Nadine as they run through the corridors of the
Soulmates soundstage with everyone yelling at them. Nadine
pretends that her back was bothering her. Buzz presents the
marriage license to the EvilSoulmatesWoman, and in the chaos
surrounding their arrival, it apparently passes inspection. They
are about to go on the air live in a few minutes (Right. Like
any game show goes live nowadays except for cheesy state lottery
shows...). Buzz chooses this moment to make a phonecall to Jenna
from a payphone conveniently located just off the Soulmates set.
Buzz gets Jenna's answering machine because Jenna is jetting her
way back to Springfield (on the flight she apparently caught 5
minutes after she saw Buzz and Deenie's wedding). Buzz professes
his undying love for her and wants her to know it isn't over for
them. He leaves the phone number of the payphone (702-555-6411,
Marni ;]), as the stagehand shouts, "Showtime!" Buzz runs to the
set as we also see Jenna on the plane. The scene closes with a
shot of the message light on Jenna's answering machine.

Back on the set during taping, the couples are not doing well,
because they are all arguing with each other with 60 seconds left
before they go back on the air. As the show goes back on the
air, we are informed that during round one of the show, none of
the couples got the question right. The second round starts with
the question: If the two of you were stranded on a desert island
and a raft washes up (to which Nadine asks how that could
happen... :]) that is big enough for only one person, what would
your hubby say? That she should go, he should go, or they bust
it up and use the wood for a fire and have a luau. They cut to
commercial, during which the CooperClan + Carrol in the audience
discuss what they'd say. 20 seconds later, the show is back on,
the other participants have answered and Buzz is about to
respond. The other couples have answered correctly, so Buzz
needs to get it right in order to stay tied. Of course, Buzz
gets it right (he'd chop it up for the luau). Round 3 Question:
The first time they made love to their wife, musically speaking,
was it "Beethoven's 5th", "Tango in Paris", or "I Can't Get No
Satisfaction"? (BARF! This makes the Newlywed Game look like
Jeopardy!) During the commercial break, the Peanut Gallery
discusses the question. Stavros wants to know if they can talk
about that kind of thing on TV (right, like he hasn't been in the
U.S. for several years... I guess he just spends too much time at
the Diner...:]). Frank has to remind him that this is America
(Gee, don't we all feel patriotic now?). Buzz and Nadine need to
answer correctly to stay in the game: Nadine answers that it
wasn't any of them... it was Tito Puente (sp?) pounding away on
his drum. Of course, right answer. A big celebration ensues as
we fade in to Jenna on the plane, still upset.

Finally, we are down to the tie breaker question. We are treated
to hearing Buzz and Nadine's thoughts at this point: Buzz thinks
"Jenna!" and Nadine thinks: "If I can only get it right, I can
finally be the woman to make all of Buzz's dreams come true!" (At
this point your friendly updater almost loses her dinner...).

Meanwhile, Jenna arrives home after her 30 minute flight and trip
home from the airport to start to listen to Buzz's message on her
machine... (Will she listen? Will they get back together? Do we
care??).

ALAN:

Alan looks at a picture of Tangie at the beach. Susan says that
no one has reported the car damage that Alan did to the police.
The doctor that Alan hired to treat Tangie's "mystery man" shows
up. Alan asks for details about the patient he treated.

Alan pours a drink (scotch) for himself as the Dr. watches with a
thirsty expression on his face. Alan offers him a drink, which
the good Dr. immediately guzzles and pours himself another one.
Alan wants a description of the man he treated. The Dr. describes
a man in his late twenties or early 30s (not bad for someone born
in the 80's!!). The Dr. says the patient had a bad infection and
serious burns. Alan expresses concern that the man is in the ONLY
bed. Where was Tangie sleeping? (Alan looked decidedly green in
this scene... :]). Alan wants to know if the man is a threat for
Tangie. The Dr. says no, the patient is out of it, and the woman
was definitely not in a hurry to make the patient leave. Alan
dismisses the Dr.

After the doctor leaves, Alan broods while staring at the picture
of Tangie, then tears it up.

He tells Susan to find out everything she can about the guy
Tangie is taking care of. Susan wants to know what reason she
should put in her report to Mr. Tashiwa for doing this. Alan
says Tangie is a useful informant because she's close to Blake
and Roger, and that her usefulness will be diminished with some
guy living at her house thereby restricting Alan's movement to
and from her house. He says that Tangie's man is a wild
card/surprise. Definitely not part of his plan. Susan says
Tangie doesn't have to be involved. Alan says Tangie is
irresponsible to take in a stray and they can't be too careful.
He notes it is ironic that he used to be the person Tangie kept
secrets for, but now she's keeping them from him. If the problem
persists, he'll have to take appropriate action...

That's it!

Lara
