GUIDING LIGHT TGIF UPDATE -- FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 1994

HIGHLIGHTS
* Jenna tries to get to Buzz to tell him her big news.
* Buzz & Nadine jump through hoops to get to the chapel.
* Tangie gets medical help for AM. [finally!!]
* Blake decides to follow her nose, but it leads her astray.
* Like daughter, like mother, but Holly's more successful.

SOUL TRAIN: Jenna bangs on the door of the baggage car, begging to be let
out. "I'm cold, I'm tired, I'm hungry & I'm pregnant!" She whines that
her baby's father is on the train & he's gonna do right by her.

Outside the door, the producer has the key & is about to open it so Buzz
can retrieve his marriage license. He complains that he doesn't know
which bag it's in & doesn't understand why she can't wait until they get
to the hotel. In so many words, the producer says "Because I'm the boss."

Elsewhere on the train, Nadine gets an idea & runs off. Frank is talking
to Blake on the phone; she's trying to convince him to hire her. Frank
pleads not enough funds.

CARRIAGE HOUSE: Blake offers to prove herself by tracking someone down,
but before she can elaborate, Ross walks in & she hangs up. He was lonely
at the office & wants to take her to lunch. She says she ate, but offers
to make him a sandwich. This was not exactly what he had in mind, but the
only choices she gives him involved the preparation of his sandwich. She
pleads that she's trying to set up a job interview. After asking him
numerous questions about the sandwich, she throws in a bonus question --
"Do you know when Alan Spaulding is getting out of prison.?" Ross tenses.

CARROLLTON STATE PRISON: Holly shows her press card & asks to see Alan.
Fisk says prisoners can't give interviews. Holly says she'd like to visit
him; they know each other. Fisk says she isn't expected & isn't on Alan's
list of visitors. He suggests she write a note & he'll deliver it to
Alan; if he wants to see her, he can write her back & set up something
for next week. Holly wants to see him now & asks to talk with the warden.

BOATHOUSE: Alan-Michael wakes up between clean sheets & wonders where he
is. Tangie informs him. He recognizes her & seems to be no longer
delirious, although he still worries for her safety & says his father may
hurt her if he finds out she helped him. She refuses to let him leave.
There's a knock on the door & AM tells her not to answer. She assures him
it will be fine & steps outside to talk to Alan. "Is he here?" asks Alan.

PRISON: The warden, Dan Hitchcock, is pleasant to Holly & tells Fisk to
go tell Alan that she's there to see him. He gives her the line about not
liking to give publicity to inmates. Holly was hoping to do a series of
interviews over the next few months & publish when Alan is released.
Hitchcock wonders whether Alan will even agree to see her & notes that
he's very reclusive. Holly thinks Alan will see her, because he's in jail
for trying to kill her daughter.

CARRIAGE HOUSE: Ross paces impatiently while waiting for his sandwich. He
calls Blake, who brings the sandwich. He tosses it out the front door.
He's upset over Blake's sudden interest in Alan & doesn't want her to get
involved in anything concerning him. "He's a strange & dangerous man,"
understates Ross. Blake is fully aware of this, given that he tried to
kill her. Ross worries Blake will try to take some kind of revenge
against Alan, but Blake disabuses him of this notion, explaining that she
was just wondering if he'd try to go back to Spaulding, since Tangie had
asked her about this. Ross launches into another tirade about Alan &
tells Blake that if he calls her to apologize when he's released, she
should hang up on him. Blake says Alan will never call her. Ross gets
ticked that she's contradicting him; she gets ticked that Ross is giving
her orders. She tells him next time he gets lonely at the office, he
should get himself a dog, then huffs out of the room. Ross cringes,
realizing what he sounded like. "Woof!"

BOATHOUSE: Alan has the doctor. Tangie reminds Alan that the doc has to
keep his mouth shut. Alan says no problem. The doc had a "small problem,"
but he's "one of the best when he's sober." The doc appears. (He's a
slight, white-haired man with a friendly smile, in his late 60s to early
70s). Tangie sends him in & Alan starts to follow, but T smoothly closes
the door after the doc. Alan worries that Tangie may catch something from
the sick guy, but she assures him the man is burned, not contagious. Alan
asks how it happened & when T says she doesn't know, Alan thinks she's
being awfully nice to someone who hasn't told her much about himself. She
smiles & says it's a habit of hers. Alan says he can be discreet & asks
if she's sure she has to hide the man from him. She says she's not sure,
but nevertheless, she doesn't open the door for Alan. He leaves.

TRAIN: Nadine joins Buzz & the producer & says she remembered that the
marriage license is in one of the 2 bags they sent ahead to Vegas. It's
not in the baggage car at all. Nadine promises to deliver the license as
soon as they get to Vegas. The producer hands them some preprinted
instructions & says they have to deliver the license to her at the
contestants' lunch in Vegas or she'll ship them back to Springfield on a
bus. She exits. Buzz crumples the paper and drops it as he & Nadine look
at each other in despair, then leave. As soon as they're gone, Jenna
leaves the baggage car. (I guess the producer must have unlocked it at
some point, but never opened it.) She picks up the piece of paper &
uncrumples it as she tells her baby that things will be fine as soon as
she gets Daddy alone. The paper tells of a meeting scheduled to take
place on the train. Jenna hopes she can find Buzz at this time.

Elsewhere in the train, the Coopers mill about. Buzz pulls Frank aside to
discuss their plan. Frank says he slipped a note under the other
contestants' door telling them the meeting was postponed. Eleni pins a
corsage on Nadine's dress & asks if she's nervous. Nadine says she's
nervous about the jackpot; not about getting married. Lucy corners the
producer & grills her about where the other contestants are. The producer
cna't explain their absence. Frank reassures Buzz that they'll get to the
chapel & back to the studio in plenty of time. The producer calls
everyone together & says she's going to get the Dewberries & they'll have
the meeting as soon as she gets back. As soon as she leaves, the Coopers
rush out in the opposite direction.

PRISON: Holly worries about Blake's safety when Alan is released. She
wants to find out if he's really changed & asks the warden his opinion.
The warden says Alan hasn't been any trouble. Fisk returns & says Alan
refuses to leave his cell. Holly says she'll go to him. The warden starts
to say no, but she tells him she's got a cameraman & they'll get tape of
the overcrowded conditions in the North Wing, which may help with passage
of the bond issue for more funding. The warden is confused -- the North
Wing's been closed for 3 years. But Holly is sure that's where Alan is
being held -- Alex told her about the dinner there. The warden says there
must be some mistake. Holly wants to find out what it is.

BOATHOUSE: Tangie paces while the doctor tends to Alan-Michael. Alan
cools his heels outside, then seems to get an idea.

TRAIN: Hanna (the hostess) complains to Frank that her outfit is getting
wrinkled waiting for the meeting to start. The producer arrives with the
Dewberries, who are showing her the note they received & begging not to
be disqualified. She says it's not her note & another couple will have to
worry about being disqualified. She asks Frank where his parents are; he
says they went to the nearest emergency room because Nadine's back went
out. She just needs a doctor to realign her spine & she'll be fine. He
promises that they'll all be at the studio on time & heads out. As the
producer is making nice to the Dewberries & promising them helpful hints
on the ride over to the hotel, Jenna slips in. In a horrible hillbilly
accent, she makes a big deal over the Dewberries. The producer asks Jenna
to carry out the bags. "What do I look like, a porter?" she asks,
apparently forgetting she is still wearing the oversized redcap uniform.

CARRIAGE HOUSE: Ross tries to make peace by offering new sandwiches to
Blake. Blake forgives him, but tells him he has to stop worrying about
her. She thinks he thinks she's bored to tears at home. She has 18
magazine subscriptions & says she needs a job. Ross agrees, but says it
should be something she really enjoys.
B: Do you know what I really, really enjoy?
	R: (With a leer) Yes, I do.
	B: Besides that.
She enjoys puzzles. She's good at figuring things out. She thinks she
would be good at working for Frank's detective agency. Ross doesn't like
the idea of her staking out cheating husbands at sleazy motels. She says
she could be a receptionist & offer her insight on cases from behind a
desk. When Ross wonders how long Frank has been trying to hire her, Blake
admits she's still trying to convince him that he needs her. Ross thinks
it's OK if she stays behind a desk, but wonders why she doesn't get a job
at the Journal, since reporting requires the same kind of nosiness as
detective work. Blake says she wants to do something on her own. She
sends him out of the room in search of mustard, then runs to the phone to
call Tangie. Tangie called in sick to work. Blake thinks this is odd,
since T was fine yesterday. "What's going on?" she wonders.

BOATHOUSE: Alan tries to peer through a window, but is frustrated by the
stained glass. Inside, the doc berates AM for going so long without
treatment. AM says he got some pills & ointment. The doc gives
instructions for rest & frequent dressing changes. Tangie offers her
services. "You've done enough already," protests AM. "First rule of
medicine: never refuse the help of a beautiful woman," instructs the doc.
He sets about teaching Tangie what to do.

Outside, Alan hides in the bushes as Blake heads for the boathouse door.

VEGAS CHAPEL: Eleni wonders about the chapel's "2 for 1" offer & decides
that her first impression of America was correct -- things are very
strange here. Frank arrives & she suggests they get married again so Buzz
& Nadine can get 1/2 of the price of their wedding. Frank thinks three
weddings in just over a year is overkill, but Stavros thinks they could
start a tradition of getting married monthly. They decide it's silly.
Frank assures Buzz that the story worked fine. Buzz comes up to Nadine &
reminds her to limp when they get back to the studio. She's a bit
unresponsive & when Buzz asks what's up, she admits she's been looking at
the wedding veils for sale. Buzz pooh-poohs the idea ("This isn't St.
Patrick's Cathedral) but she decides to get one for $5.

The chaplain arrives & mistakes Eleni & Stavros for the couple getting
married. They point him in the right direction. Buzz tells the man he
wants to buy a veil & his best bouquet. Nadine thanks Buzz for indulging
her. It's important to her because she didn't have a veil when she got
married the first time -- her mom thought it wasn't appropriate since she
wasn't wearing a real wedding dress. (She wore a suit & borrowed her
aunt's hat to match.) Buzz asks the chaplain to hurry things up, since
they have an appointment, and he calls for his wife, Ida, to start the
music. The chaplain is confused that both Buzz & Nadine are named Cooper,
but Buzz says the story is too long to explain. Ida takes a family photo.

TRAIN STATION: Jenna bribes an initially reluctant taxi driver $100 to
take her immediately to the Chapel of Love so she can stop the father of
her baby from getting married.

CARRIAGE HOUSE: Ross calls to Blake from the kitchen, but gets no answer.
He emerges with 2 cups of cappuccino to discover she & her car gone.

BOATHOUSE: The doctor tells AM he'll be fine if he follows instructions,
then takes Tangie aside & says he's not sure AM will be fine unless he
gets to a hospital. Tangie asks if he can come back, but the doc says no.
Tangie goes to investigate a noise outside -- it's Blake, who tripped.
Blake came to see if T was OK. T says she's not sick; she has company.
Blake says good-bye, but after T closes the door, her curiosity gets the
better of her & she climbs over the porch railing & hides where she
figures she'll be able to see Tangie's company when he leaves.

CHAPEL OF LOVE: The chaplain gives the usual spiel about holding one's
piece. Marina cries & Nadine thinks it's a sign. Buzz calms her & they
continue. The chaplain asks Buzz the big question. Buzz makes a grand
attempt at David-saucer-eyes, then says, "I will." The same question goes
to Nadine. She lapses into a fantasy... Buzz is wearing a tux & she's
wearing a real white wedding dress & veil. Buzz stops the proceedings &
says he wants it to be for real, because "you're a for-keeps kind of
gal." He's always loved her & always will. Flash back to reality for a
second & focus on Buzz's face, then back to the fantasy. "I love you. I
never stopped," says Buzz & kisses the woman in white. When her face is
revealed, we see it is Jenna. Fade back to reality. The chaplain finishes
the question & Nadine fantasizes dancing happily with Buzz. The chaplain
calls her back to reality & she answers, "I will."

PRISON: The warden questions Fisk about the alleged dinner party in the
condemned North Wing. Fisk pleads ignorance, but remembers a large group
of guests. He says they went down lots of corridors & may have gotten
confused & been mistaken about where they were. Holly doubts this. The
warden dismisses Fisk, then tells Holly he's a good man. Holly thinks
Fisk may have lied because he was scared. The warden promises to
investigate. "Wouldn't it be easier to call in the prisoner & have him
explain." The phone rings & after he answers, the warden says he has to
go see to something. Holly says she'll wait. The warden leaves & Holly
decides to have a look around. She starts going through an unlocked file
cabinet.

BOATHOUSE: Blake sees Tangie say good-bye to the doctor. "Tangie Hill,
you're full of surprises," she says to herself. "Who is this guy?" Blake
follows him.

Inside, Tangie tends to AM. He's sleepy because the doc doped him up at
T's request to keep him from running away. He asks why she's helping him.
She says it's because a lot of people have helped her & she wants to see
how it feels to help someone else. AM says for someone without a lot of
experience, she's pretty good at it. He goes to sleep & she tucks him in.

PRISON: Holly discovers that Alan's been out since May. "Oh, Roger, then
where is he?"

OUTSIDE THE BOATHOUSE: Blake calls on a cell-phone for roadside
assistance. Someone has smashed all her windows. Alan lurks nearby with a
tire iron. When Tangie opens the door, he runs back to the bushes. Tangie
picks up her newspaper & goes back inside. "Why can't everyone just leave
her alone?" asks Alan ominously.

CHAPEL OF LOVE: Buzz slips a ring onto Nadine's finger as the chaplain
pronounces them married. Jenna arrives just in time to hear the bad news
as the screen fades to black.
