		 	Guiding Light Update

				for

			Tuesday September 6

===============================================================================

	The Spaulding Mansion:

We are treated to a repeat of Friday's last minutes. Alex, Fletch,
Nindy, and Ben are in Alex's room when they discover Roger and Holly's car is
still at the house. They find them downstairs, Alex and Roger trade insults, and
we start for real....

Roger is yelling at Alex about the plan to give Gilly his half
of WSPR (now how can she do that anyway?), and Alex and Co. are yelling
about the Thorpe/Lindsay break-in. As the talk continues, and Alex mentions
the dinner party at the jail, Roger and Holly look more and more confused.
Cutter (excuse me, Patrick) enters and asks about the crime.

Jenna and Alan (at some retreat of his I am unable to identify):

They are in high spirits and are enjoying the success of their plot.
Jenna thinks the whole thing is ingenious. Alan gloats that he will have
Roger back in his (Tashua's) camp in no time. Jenna rubs her belly.

	Buzz (at the cooper residence):

He is watching TV and doing Bogart from Casablanca, Flynn from
Robin Hood (I guess), and Brando from On the Waterfront. Nadine enters
and asks who he is talking to. "Rod Steiger" responds Buzz. They discuss
Nadine's toilet and coiffure and Buzz starts laughing at Nadine. Nadine
is hurt and tells Buzz she wants to feel like she did when he kissed her.
[If this had a context I didn't catch it. Sorry.]

Ed and Eve (at THEIR house):

Ed is worried about Michelle (it is getting pretty late). He notices a message
on the answering machine and plays it. It is Ben calling to explain to Michelle
why he left. He spills the beans about the $20.00 Bill gave him to get lost.
He wants Michelle to understand what a low-life Bill really is. Ed turns
to Eve and says "Can I panic now?"

Michelle and Bill (outside at the beach, of course):

Bill and Michelle are debating about the creature that almost killed them
(Alan-Michael for those of us in the know). Bill thinks it was a Werewolf
(well not really, but he makes a pitiful attempt at scaring Michelle).
They debate whether they should tell the police, and naturally, they decide
not to.

	Alan-Michael (lying in his shack):

He is in immense pain. [Here he says something I can not quite make out. My
best guess is he says "shock".] He drags himself across the dirt and passes
out. [Get used to it. There are a lot of these scenes throughout the show.]

	Michelle and Bill:

Bill thinks that maybe one kiss would make the Werewolf human again [maybe
he's not so pitiful after all]. Michelle likes the idea and they start to
kiss, but they hear something, and get scared. They start running and slam
right into Tangie. They start screaming about the thing they saw earlier and
Tangie, who catches on quick, wants to know all about it.

	Ed and Eve:

Eve is still trying to calm Ed down, but Ed will not be consoled. He thinks
he knows what Bill is up to. Eve says they are probably just kissing, but that
idea does not thrill Ed either. Holding hands was okay, though. Eve thinks that
Ed was just like Bill when he was thirteen, but Ed says he was into football
and studying and climbing, etc. Eve feels sorry for nerdy Ed. She wonders if
anyone "turned his head". Ed says that she has. [Yuck. Did anybody really
want me to include that?]

Ross and Blake enter, Blake saying "Cut it out, you two." [My sentiments
exactly!] Blake wants to get into the hot tub, and Ed rushes out to fix it
up. Blake mentions the Spaulding get together (or her parents confused notions
of it) and, imagine this, we cut to

	The Spauldings:

Roger and Holly tell Patrick about the invite. But, of course, they don't have
it with them, and no one believes them. A lock has been broken, a bug has been
planted (on the mantle, no less). Roger says he would hide a bug better than
that, and Fletch accuses him of getting sloppy. Alex wants both Roger and
Holly arrested. [She calls Holly, Holly Go-lightly or how ever you spell that
for whatever Breakfast at Tiffany's reason.]

	Buzz and Nadine:

Nadine is having a bad hair night. She complains about what she has to do
to make herself look good and is pulling at her hair and trying to dye it. Buzz
offers to help and she tells him where to put the dye. Buzz talks about what
they will do after they win the game show ("Soul Mates are us!"). Nadine
is less certain and is nervous that all of 5th Street is coming. Buzz is
pleased. And he is "beginning to be aware of his luck". They bump heads
affectionately.

	Alan and Jenna:

Jenna is confused by Alan's lack of joy [yeah, I know, I said he was joyful,
but I thought he was, go ask Jenna]. He says he is upset about Alan-Michael.
He shows her the cut up identification card. He says it is a declaration
of war. Jenna doesn't buy it. Alan says that Alan-Michael has always resented
the way Alan was partial to Phillip. He thinks Alan-Michael wants to "thumb
his nose" at him one more time. [Though it seems to me, and probably Jenna
too, that Alan's guilt over actually favoring Phillip is blinding him
to the realities of Alan-Michael's feelings.]

	Tangie, Bill, and Michelle:

The kids ask Tangie if they should go to the police. She says no. [At least,
now we know why no one in Springfield trusts the police. It's just the way
you are brought up there.] She wonders why they are out so late (it's past
midnight). They get upset when they hear this, but Bill asks Tangie to cover
for them: to tell Ed that they were with her all night. She agrees, and they
leave. Tangie starts talking to thin air. Something about "are you there".
We see Alan-Michael laying in the dirt. Mystically, he hears her, and he
whispers "help."

	Roger and Holly:

Mindy wants to know why Roger and Holly would accept such a strange
invitation. Holly says "yes, why would we want peace?" The bickering continues
and Fletcher gets self-righteous and Roger says "Save it. There is no moral
highground here. You are knee-deep in duplicity." Fletch looks cowed. Detective
Cutter [how's that for a compromise?] arrests and handcuffs Roger and Holly.

	The Bauer residence:

Ross and Ed are upstairs discussing moving in traumas and Maureen.
Ross uses hope chests as some kind of cheap metaphor for possibilities and says
that he and Ed have gotten plenty. Blake and Eve are in the hot tub discussing
moving in as well. Blake says it was hard, and she felt like she was invading
his home (she took all his closet space!). Blake says that Ed is lucky, that
Eve is not demanding. Eve is surprised [as am I--this is the woman who gets
angry if she is not introduced as the love of his life] but gives an example
of how she is not demanding with Michelle. Blake says yes, that that is amazing
and she would handle it differently. Eve defends Michelle; she says she has
been wonderful about it all. Bill and Michelle enter followed by Ed and Ross.
Dr. Bauer gets on Bill's case and tells him that yes Tangie called but he is
still not off the hook and there is a taxi waiting for him. Bill leaves
gratefully. Eve tries to help Michelle but just makes it worse when she
asks her what she and Tangie talked about. (Michelle says "lotsa stuff".)
Blake invites Michelle to stay with her and Ross. (?)

Police Dept. (Starts with an outside shot of the department):

Holly snarls about Alex. Alex snarls about Roger ("How dare he exist?")
Tangie enters, returning to Detective Cutter the mugshots. Alex vows to
nail Roger. Gilly enters [yes this was a crowded scene] and tells Roger and
Holly that though they are news and WSPR can't just forget it, they will play
it down. Roger says he knows that she has been plotting to take away his
station. Gilly looks shocked.

	Nadine and Buzz:

Buzz is jealous of how good Nadine will look on TV. He decides he will be
a blonde for the finals of "Soul Mates". [Seems TPTB didn't have much to
do with these two today. Purely for comedic effect.]

	Alan and Jenna:

Alan wants Jenna to find Alan-Michael as soon as possible. He talks about
how alone he is now. He says they have to make a few calls, to the newspapers
and the TV stations, etc., to tell them about the arrest of Thorpe and Lindsay.
Jenna is only too happy to comply.

	The Police Station:

Roger calls Gilly "duplicitous (sp?)" and Gilly says she doesn't know what he
means. He says "look it up". Everyone looks genuinely confused.

Tangie is calling Blake. She wants her to come down to the station to
see her folks. Detective Cutter is worried about Tangie and wants her to run
right home and lock herself in. He books the terrible two. Holly threatens
Alex with tremendous malice in her voice [I think it was "I'm going to get you"]
and Alex looks flabbergasted.

Ed and Ross in bed [okay, it's Eve but that's what I thought at first]:

They are again discussing the troubles of unpacking [It seems TPTB didn't really
have anything to do with these two today...hey! wait a sec...] Eve feels
better now about the house, but it will still take sometime. Ed says she has
all the time in the world, but that to hurry it along he has a present for
her. He gives it to her giddily (Eve's word). It's a catalog for redecorating
purposes. Eve says she can't do that, "oh this is cute", no she can't do that.
Ed says he just wants her to know that now "it is OUR bedroom".

	The Police Station:

The press appears and nails Holly (for this she blames Fletcher--paranoia
is catching). Leo is out of town, they will have to spend the night in the
hoosegow (sp?). Enter Blake, Ross, and Michelle.

	Nadine and Buzz:

Nadine is at the bottom of the staircase nervously waiting for Buzz the blond
bombshell to come down. He yells down to her that he has to "match the eyebrows
to the hair" and he'll be down in a second. He comes down wearing an
atrociously obvious wig [which makes his hair look thin when he removes it]
that turns out to be Nadines, and he has ruined it. He promises to buy her
a new one and they hug, etc.

	The Spaulding residence.

The family is pushing alcohol on Alex. They discuss Alan's dinner and
the Springfield Journal's editor says "it stinked". Nick says he wasn't
thrilled with Uncle's reaction to his presidency, but Mindy says it was
no big deal, and Alex agrees. She is sure she will be able to handle Alan
now. He has become weak (not like the "birdman of Alcatraz" or anything
she says, whatever that means) and he is all alone. Alan, of course, is
listening to her, hidden away in the catacombs of the Spaulding pyramid.

	Alan-Michael:

Once more, we see him going through some kind of seizure, lying in the dust
of his shack. [Hopefully tomorrow will see many more of these scenes, and maybe
in one he will even spit blood or something.]

	The Police Station:

Tangie and Michelle discuss the creature. Michelle thinks they shouldn't tell
the police because the more she thinks about it, the more she thinks it is
badly hurt [and of course the police would just kill it without thinking].
Ross doesn't want to help Roger--"Everybody knows who is to blame", but Blake
pressures him into it. Holly says she is beginning to understand what it is
like to be Roger. Everyone assumes the worst just because he is Roger Thorpe.
She turns to him and says

"Looks like they want more Roger. I say let 'em have it."

Eerie music plays. Alan's plan has worked. He has Roger back by getting Holly
to encourage, not discourage him. And Holly is forever changed.
