THE LIBRARY: Michelle asks Jesse if he wants to learn to read or not. Jesse
does, but reminds Michelle that books take you to places where you've never
been - but then the real world comes back. Jesse says it hurts less to not
go. Michelle says that then you have nothing to dream about or reach for.
Jesse wonders if she's talking about the books or them. Jesse reminds
Michelle about their deal - she teaches him to read and then it's all over.
Michelle wants to know if that's really all he wants; Jesse thinks that what
they and what they can have are two different things. The librarian tells
them it's closing time. As they start to leave Michelle thinks of a place
where they could go to continue studying. Jesse hesitates, but then says he
will follow Michelle there.

COMPANY: Van is looking at the "welcome home" banner over the bar as Matt
brings over a fax message from Bridget and Peter. Peter has drawn a kiss on
the fax, and Matt decides to show Van the real thing and kisses her. Matt
says he still can't believe that Van is home; Van apologizes again. Matt
says that it's o.k. - he just thought they had everything going for them
before the accident and now he realizes how fragile things really are. Van
says that she will work to make sure that Matt gets his trust and faith
back. Michael enters saying the happy vibes zapped him the minute he walked
in. Van hugs Michael and says she missed him. Michael laughs and tells Van
that she is glowing. She says she's just happy to be back with the people
she loves. Michael tells her that her dreaming paid off. Van tells Michael
that it's time for his dreams now, and he says that he is closing in on them.

HOTEL SUITE: Alan walks over to Annie reciting the "little girl with a curl
rhyme". He gets to the line "and when she was bad" and Annie ends it with
"she was better". Alan tells Annie not to change, then suggests they go
back to the house and call Cassie from there. Annie wants to stay and find
out what happened at Lewis Oil - complete with details. She wants to know
exactly how Cassie is going to ruin Josh and Reva. Alan agrees that they
can stay. Annie kisses Alan, thanking him for being patient and telling him
what a great guy he is. Cassie enters and says she is Billy Lewis' new
assistant. Annie runs over and hugs Cassie and she looks disgusted. Annie
gushes about how now Josh and Reva will go up in smoke. Alan says that
Cassie will be meeting Josh and Reva very soon. Cassie says she already did
because they were both at Lewis Oil; Cassie says they seemed nice. Annie
looks distraught.

short twirl

Cassie takes a long sip of a drink as Annie tells her that Reva and Josh are
many things, but nice isn't one of them. Alan says he expected better
judgement from Cassie - even if they did find her working in a strip club.
Cassie insists she has always had good instincts when it comes to people and
she liked Josh and Reva. Annie says that's an act they put on at first.
Annie wonders if it was down-home and charming with Reva talking about what
a family they all are. Cassie says it was kind of like that. Annie says
Reva tried very hard to be her friend and she paid dearly. Cassie looks
doubtful and Alan suggests they go out to dinner and review Josh and Reva's
crimes. Cassie says she can't go because she's going to a party for someone
named Vanessa and that Josh and Reva will be there. Annie shouts out that
Cassie can't go to the party.

COMPANY: Van is happy that things have turned out so well for Jenna - and
wants to know everything about her godson. Jenna says that Coop is very
much like his father, and his mother. Vanessa laughs and thinks in that
case it's a good thing she came back. Jenna gets serious and wonders if
Henry ever knew about Coop. Van reminds Jenna that she wasn't supposed to
tell anyone about Coop. Jenna remembers but she really wanted Henry to
know. Van says that she told Henry. Jenna is excited about this news - Van
tells her that Henry loved her very much, and he was very proud that Jenna
named her son after him. Jenna wishes that Henry could have seen his
namesake; Van is sure that Henry does see him and sees lots of things.
Jenna hugs Van.

Dinah is telling Hart that Buzz suggested that Matt and Van have a second
honeymoon in Switzerland. Hart says he wants to have a first honeymoon.
Dinah insists they will - they can discuss it when Van comes back from
Switzerland. Hart wants to elope to Cancun and surprise everyone. Dinah
says she would do it, but Van specifically asked them to let her help with
the wedding plans. Hart agrees, but says that being around Buzz and Coop
makes him feel "squishy" inside. Hart thinks their first child should have
a girl that looks just like Dinah. Dinah looks a little sad, and says she's
going to go out and get some air.

SPAULDING MANSION: Amanda comes down dressed for the party in black, and
sees a package. She picks it up and sees Annie's name on it, and drops it
with a crash. Amanda sits down to have another look at Annie's appointment
book, and sits on Annie's sweater. She picks up the sweater and flings it
behind her, saying that Annie is everywhere. Amanda gloats over the
appointment book, saying aloud that the party is over for Annie as Rog walks
up having heard the last line. Amanda wants to know how long he was standing
there; Rog says long enough to hear Annie pushing Amanda's buttons. Amanda
says she hates Annie, and Rog says that Annie is not her problem. Rog tries
to get Amanda to go to the party, but she isn't in the mood. Rog insists
that they go because Chrissy and Hart will be there. Amanda wonders about
Holly; Rog thinks that Holly and Fletcher will probably make an appearance.
Amanda tries to reassure Rog that she is over her jealousy about Holly.
Roger says that Amanda is the woman he's going to marry, and Amanda hopes
that one day she will be the love of his life, then says she is teasing.
Amanda starts to go to powder her nose, when Roger spots the appointment
book. Roger wants to know why Amanda didn't put it back, and Amanda says
she will before "pitiful Pearl" gets home. The phone rings and Amanda tells
him not to answer because it's Annie's line. Roger answers anyway - Annie's
court appointed psychatrist is on the line.

HOTEL SUITE: Cassie has changed to jeans and can't figure out why Annie and
Alan are so upset. Cassie reminds them that they are paying her to get Josh
and Reva's trust. Annie says they wanted it on their timetable. Alan says
Cassie is working too fast and tells her to cancel on the party. Annie
explains that she and Van used to be close, but she wasn't invited to the
party. Cassie wants to know what happened and Annie tells Cassie that Reva
ripped her family away, and then turned all her friends against her. Cassie
says again what a number Reva has done on Annie, and Annie agrees. Annie
says she is trying to get over the bad feelings; Alan interrupts and says
Annie doesn't have to explain anymore. Cassie says she will call Billy and
cancel, and Alan tells her there will many more parties for her to go to.
Alan reminds Cassie that her job is the Lewis Oil deal, when there is a
knock at the door. We hear Billy say: Cassie, are you ready to go?

LAUREL FALLS: Michelle tells Jesse how she used to come for picnics with
her parents at the Falls, and how her mother taught her to swim there.
Michelle tells Jesse about the place her mother showed her behind the falls.
Jesse explains that the water is deeper there, and Michelle realizes he'd
been there before too. Jesse said a lady who took care of him when he was
young brought him there. Michelle says maybe they can go behind the falls
one day. Jesse says they don't have any "somedays" and Michelle asks if he
ever wishes for anything. Jesse says he doesn't believe in wishes.

CEDARS: Rick thanks Lillian for coming in, knowing she would rather be at
Van's party. Lillian asks Rick if he gave Michelle the list of heart
donors. Rick says that he hadn't yet, but he is hoping that when he does it
will keep Michelle's mind off Jesse. Just as he says that, Jesse's father
walks in yelling about Dr. Bauer Jr. Rick tells Lillian that this is the
"loser's" father. Rick tells Mr. Blue to keep it down. Lillian tries to get
Mr. Blue to back off saying she doesn't want to call security. Mr. Blue says
he's not leaving until Rick admits that his drunken father killed Mrs. Blue.

HOTEL SUITE: Cassie answers the door and asks Billy to wait outside while
she gets ready. Cassie goes back in and Alan reminds her who she is working
for. Cassie says it's not who it's what - her whole reason for doing this is
to get her daughter back. Annie tells Cassie that no matter how nice they
are at first, the people she will see at the party are all monsters inside.
Cassie leaves. Annie is angry because she wanted to control every move.
Alan points out the irony of Cassie going to the same party as Reva to
celebrate "lasting love". Alan assures Annie that nothing will go wrong.

SPAULDING MANSION: Roger talks to the psychiatrist who tells him that Annie
missed another appointment. Rog hangs up and asks Amanda if Annie knew she
had an appointment that day; Amanda says who knows and who cares. Roger
accuses Amanda of changing the appointment book; Amanda says that Annie has
damaged so many people. Amanda thinks she should get a medal for hurting
Annie. Amanda decides she wants to go dancing after all, and they head off
for the party.

HALFTIME

COMPANY: Couples are dancing to "Three Times a Lady". Michael and Hart are
at the bar and Hart asks if Michael understands women; Michael thinks that
must be a joke. Hart says he can't get Dinah to commit to a wedding date.
Michael suggests that Dinah has been through a lot lately, and maybe it just
takes women longer to get over things and not to push. Hart says he isn't
pushing, and maybe he should ask someone who is married - Michael thinks
that's a good idea.

On the porch, Holly and Fletcher arrive and talk to Dinah. Fletcher says it
looks like Dinah has been crying. Dinah insists she is o.k. and Holly tells
Fletch that since Dinah said she was fine, she must be. Fletch pushes and
claims that he knows sometimes women say they're fine when they don't want
to say what is bothering them. Holly says she hadn't noticed that and walks
off. Fletch follows, and Michael comes outside. Michael tells Dinah she has
to stop worrying about Van's disease. Dinah says she can't: Hart is
talking about having children with her, and she doesn't know if she has
inherited the disease. Michael tells her there is no reason to worry, and
Dinah insists there isn't a reason not to. Hart comes out and asks if
everything is o.k.

Inside, Buzz walks over to Nola and Blake and tells Nola to stop crying.
Nola wonders if he is the crying police. Buzz tells her that if everyone
crys, then he will start and what an ugly sight that would be.

Dinah, Hart, and Michael come back in as Michael tells Dinah that she should
tell Hart what she is worried about. Dinah sees her mother dancing and
wonders is that's o.k. Michael says that Van can do everything they can -
just in moderation.

Billy and Cassie (with a flower bouquet) arrive on the porch. Billy
hesitates about going in and wants to drive around the block again. Cassie
reminds him "Mr. Lewis" that he's already done that three times. Billy
agrees to go in and tells her to call him Billy. Ross is dancing with
Vanessa and looks up as Billy walks in. Van turns to see what Ross is
looking at and sees Billy. Billy says hello, and Van slowly walks over and
pulls him into a hug. Cassie looks on; Reva walks over and tells Cassie
that family is a big deal around here.

LAUREL FALLS: Michelle looks at the lights and thinks about the families
inside the houses. Jesse thinks about them locking doors and windows so they
don't get robbed. Michelle tells Jesse that he wins and the world is a
terrible place. Jesse tells her to keep believing what she believes even if
he doesn't believe it. Michelle tries to get them back to the books - Jesse
wants to read a real book and points to the books in Michelle's pre-freshman
reading list. She pulls out some Shakespeare and rattles off a list - Jesse
stops her when she gets to Romeo and Juliet. He asks her to describe the
story in her own words, thinking it will help him get interested in the
book. Michelle describes the story of Romeo and Juliet, but gives it a happy
ending. Jesse says that sounds good, and suggests they just read the last
page of the book. Michelle thinks that's pretty silly. Jesse tells
Michelle that even he knows the story of Romeo and Juliet and how it ends.

CEDARS: Rick and Mr. Blue are still arguing. Lillian runs up with the
hospital record on Mrs. Blue. Mr. Blue keeps yelling - Rick reads the
record: which includes that Mrs. Blue was in poor health and had no
pre-natal care. Mr. Blue accuses Ed again, and Rick starts to fight him.
Lillian pulls them apart and tells Mr. Blue that she would know if Ed harmed
a patient, and to try to get past this. Lillian encourages Mr. Blue to put
his energy into Jesse. Mr. Blue says Jesse is only interested in Michelle
and wonders if that was Rick's idea or Michelle's. They start to fight again.

COMPANY: Roger and Amanda arrive. Amanda goes in, and Rog tells here he'll
be right there. Blake comes out and asks Roger how he is. Rog says never
better, and Blake doesn't believe it. Rog starts to count out all the
things going well: back at Spaulding, grandchildren nearby, getting married.
Blake wants to know if that's enough - she wants to know if Rog is head over
heels in love. Blake wonders if Amanda makes Rog go weak in the knees and
says her mother always did. Rog points out that Holly is re-married and has
moved on. Rog walks toward the window and looks in at Holly and says that
he has to move on too.

Reva is asking if the baby broker they found might have sold her sister.
Jenna thinks it's a good possibility.

SPAULDING MANSION: Alan and Annie come back and Annie finds the package and
thinks it must be from Alan. Alan says it isn't and she opens it: it's the
sign from LOWHAD sent to her by the real estate agent. Annie looks sad, and
Alan asks if it still hurts. Annie tearfully tells him that they called the
house the Land of Wishes, Hopes, and Dreams - and how Josh wanted to put
more names on the sign - the names of their children. Alan says he is sorry
and hugs Annie, as she asks when it's going to stop hurting. Alan says they
are working on that.

COMPANY: Van opens the flowers that Cassie brought and Nola brings a vase.
Cassie says she thought Van would like the flowers even though she's about
the go away. Van tells Cassie not to be afraid of her boss, because he's one
of the nicest people around. Van then introduces Bill, Jenna, Buzz, and
Reva to Cassie. Cassie says she already met Reva, because Reva helped her
get the job. Billy and Reva quip about him being stubborn, and Cassie asks
if they always talk to each other that way. Reva says they can because
they've known each other for so long. Cassie heads off the get a "soda" and
collides into Hart who spills a drink on her. Hart says it's only club soda,
and Cassie wonders if they have anything stronger. Hart tells her to take
the glass of white wine; she takes it and drinks most of it in one gulp.
Hart introduces himself. Cassie says she works at Lewis Oil, and Hart says
that the Lewises are nice people. Cassie asks if he lives nearby, and Hart
tells her he lives on a farm. Hart apologizes again, and walks over to Dinah
in the background. Cassie watches him walk away.

CEDARS: Lillian pulls Rick and Mr. Blue apart again. Rick tells Mr. Blue
that he's drunk and to go home. Mr. Blue tells Rick he needs Michelle to
leave Jesse alone. Mr. Blue starts to talk about 20 years of sleepless
nights, and Lillian brings security over. The security officer drags Mr.
Blue away.

LAUREL FALLS: Jesse says that things haven't changed much since
Shakespeare's time; sometimes you can't get what you want. Michelle says
that is an admission that Jesse wants what she does. Jesse says that he came
to the falls when he couldn't stand how his father looked at him. Jesse
says he wished his life could be different. Michelle says she didn't know if
she could be happy after her mother died; she went to Point Lester to find
something connected to her mother and she found Jesse. Michelle says she
wants every spare minute with Jesse. Jesse says he doesn't want Michelle to
go away and they kiss.

COMPANY: Matt and Van start to leave and everyone says goodbye. On the
porch, Dinah tries to carry Van's bag for her, and Van has a dizzy spell.
Dinah wants to know what is wrong, and Van says it's o.k. Dinah starts to
go for Matt, and Van stops her.

Inside, Reva and Josh are looking at Cassie, and Reva asks Josh if he feels
like she has met her before. Josh says no, and he thinks Cassie just has a
familiar sort of face. Reva says she feels like she knows Cassie and waves
to her.

SPAULDING MANSION: Annie asks Alan to promise her that they will make Josh
and Reva feel this kind of pain. Alan promises, as Frank walks in saying
the maid let him in. Annie wipes away her tears wondering why Frank isn't
at the party. Frank says he is on duty and tells Annie she is under arrest.
Frank reads Annie her rights as Annie screams for Alan to help her.
