Guiding Light Update, RealWednesday, Aug. 28, 1996

Country Club
After some verbal sparring, Alan offers once again to drop the 5th St.
project if Reva will come back to him.

Spaulding Study
Amand catches Rober trying to break into "her" safe. "That explains the
change in the combination", Roger says. Amanda threatens to call the
police, and moves to do so. As she moves, Roger grabs her and kisses her.

Matt and Vanessa's House
Matt, Bill and Dinah are worried about Vanessa. Dinah goes out to have a
smoke, and finds Hart waiting for her. She's surprised he's still there.
Inside, Matt and Bill worry some more.

Accident Scene
Vanessa is pleading with Zach to help her fake her death in the car
accident. She begs him to free her family from being chained to an
invalid's bedside.

Matt and Vanessa's House
Hart and Dinah are uncomfortable with each other. They talk briefly about
Roger, the shock treatments, and the fact that he's escaped. Hart asks
about Vanessa. Dinah realizes Hart is hanging around to protect her from a
possible attack by Roger. They reconcile, and hug. Inside, Bill is still
having a problem with Matt, but is making an effort for Vanessa's sake.
Matt tells Bill that he loves Vanessa, and there's nothing he wouldn't do
for her.

Accident Scene
Vanessa is still pleading with Zach. Vanessa thinks that her "death" will
enable her family to go on with their own lives. Zach agrees to help.

Spaulding Study
Amanda pushes Roger away and laughs. She picks up a wicked looking letter
opener and threatens Roger. He easily disarms her, telling her their
security is pathetic. Roger wants to know how it became Amanda's safe.
Alex was pretty possessive of it when he lived there. Amanda replies that
Alex has no need for it - she just keeps a few trinkets in it, so Amanda has
taken over. Amanda offers to let Roger leave before she calls the police.
Rober disconnects the phone, and suggests brandy instead. Amanda heads for
the alarm button, but Roger stops her, again suggesting brandy. Amanda
finally agrees.

Country Club
Reva wants to know why Alan thinks she'd come back now. Alan says Reva's
kids are set with the parents they want, so there's no reason to stay with
Buzz. Alan tries to convince Reva that only he can give her the life she
wants. Reva looks like she might be buying, when Buzz says "sounds like a
damn good offer" from the doorway.

Matt and Vanessa's House
Matt is going through Vanessa's address book, calling people and trying to
figure out where Vanessa is. He and Bill finally decide that Frank can
leave a message if he calls - they're going to go look for her. They walk
out to find Dinah and Hart embracing. After an awkward moment, Matt and
Bill tell Dinah they're going out to look for Vanessa, and leave.

Accident Scene
Vanessa is thanking Zach for helping her, even though she doesn't know him.
Suddenly she panics, thinking her plan isn't going to work because they
won't find a body in the car. She's about to give up in despair, when Zach
tells her it *can* work. He'll help her, if this is what she really wants.

Country Club
Alan is not at all surprised to see Buzz. He tells Reva to spend some time
alone, and think over his propoosal. Once more, Reva tells him that
there's no way she's coming back to him. She *does* love Buzz. The
dresses, money, country club, and fancy parties don't compare in any way to
what she and Buzz have. Alan states that he'll have to cut his losses. He
tells Buzz that he (Alan) underestimated his opponent. He tells them to
enjoy the food, and champagne - it's all paid for - and then exits. When
he's gone, Buzz yells at Reva "What the hell were you doing?"

Spaulding Study
Roger and Amanda discuss the finer points of family loyalty, and how Ross
has changed. Roger wishes Chrissy was as loyal to him as Amanda has been
to her father. Amanda asks "Is this where I'm supposed to throw open the
safe and say "Here, it's yours, take it all" because we're both
misunderstood?" Roger says it'd be easier that way. Rober offers to show
Amanda how to crack the safe. They are underway, with Roger's hand guiding
Amanda's, when Alan is heard in the hallway talking to Nettie. He ends
by telling her he'll be in the study. Roger quickly sneaks out through the
secret passageway, as Amanda puts the picture back over the safe. Amanda
tries to make small talk, and says she wishes she could have been at the
meeting to help. Alan laughs and says "Yes, yes, Amanda, that's just
exactly what I would have needed - your presence there. There's nothing
like having a whore mistress and a tax evader around just to keep the
meeting from getting bogged down." Amanda is understandably hurt, but Alan
continues his tirade, telling her to keep a low profile. Roger hears all
from the passageway.

Country Club
Reva explains to Buzz what she was trying to do at the meeting, and how
successful she'd been. Buzz interrupts to tell her he's angry that she's
out trying to solve his problems. Reva can't believe it. She thinks
helping each other through bad times was part of her marriage vows, and
she believes in them. They're in the together. The steam has been removed
from Buzz's argument, so he tries another tack. She should have called. He
was worried sick. He was afraid he'd never see her again. "What, just
because I disappeared for five years onve I'm going to make a habit out of
it? It was a one time thing!", Reva retorts. Buzz admits he wasn't
worried or angry till he found out where whe was. He feels inadequate
because Reva is at home at the country club, but he can't give her that
kind of life. Josh or Alan can, but not him. Reva admits that she's
acquired champagne taste, and likes the finer things, but she wants them
with Buzz. She loves him. He makes her happy, and that's something,
considering how their marriage started. Reva asks Buzz to restate their
vows here and now, for hreal this time. "Mine always were", Buzz replies
softly. "For both of us, then", Reva responds. Buzz gives her a sad look,
and leaves.

Matt and Vanessa's House
Hart tells Dinah about a mountain climbing experience, and tells her she'll
like camping. Dinah reminds him she grew up with gypsies, and hates
camping. Hart says maybe she'll like camping with him. After more camping
stories, Dinah finally says she'll go anywhere with him. They kiss, and
Dinah thanks him for distracting her so she won't worry about Vanessa. More
kissing, and the phone rings. It's Frank. Just then, Matt and Bill return
home. Frank tells Matt there's been an accident, and the car's description
matches Vanessa's car. Matt, Bill and Dinah leave for the accident scene,
leaving Hart at the Reardon's.

Accident Scene
Vanessa and Zach hear emergency vehicles. Vanessa panics - she hasn't had
time to make plans, or get money. Zach tells her he can take care of
everything, but if they're going to do this, they have to go. They start
off into the dark. Vanessa stops, turns, and says "I haven't had a chance
to say goodbye".

Country Club
As Reva watches Buzz leave, she remembers a farewell with Josh. Buzz
returns, wondering if she meant what she said about repeating their vows.
She did, and they proceed to re-marry each other.

Spaulding Study
Alan continues with his vicious remarks, with Amanda trying to
defend herself. After Alan leaves, Roger returns from the passageway, and
offers bo ge her ally. They can help each other.

Country Club
Buzz and Reva kiss, and toast their remarriage with Alan's champagne.

Elsewhere in the Spaulding Mansion
Alan, on the phone with a mystery person says "Excellent. Then we'll
proceed with the next move." He hangs up and looks at a photo of Reva.

Spaulding Study
Amanda guesses that she'd be helping first. The way for her to help would
be to look out the window while Roger helped himself to Alex's, and only
Alex's jewels. Roger walks over to the safe, and opens it as if it weren't
locked. "Touch my bearer bonds and I'll shoot you", Amanda warns. She
lets Roger have one of Alex's necklaces, and lets him go.

Accident Scene
Vanessa is having second thoughts. Just then, Matt, Bill and Dinah arrive,
hoping it's not Vanessa's car. Matt stops to look as the other two run
ahead. Vanessa watches from behind a fence.
