                        GUIDING LIGHT UPDATE
                      Tuesday, August 13, 1996

Written by: Sharon Epstein
Directed By: Brian Mertes

Pool Hall: Fletcher's consoling a new guy who has just lost $50 to a
female pool shark. After the guy leaves, Fletch asks the woman if she saw
the man who shot Griffin Williams. She replies it was a woman.

Cedars: Marcus is talking to Michelle as Vivian, dressed in evil red,
spies. Michelle assures him Griffin can make a full recovery. He feels
better.

Casa Spaulding: Amanda, appalled that Alan always thinks the worst of her,
at first denies she arranged Griffin's shooting, and then takes credit for
it. Alan lists all her faults and Reva spies from the secret passageway.

Hart's Motel Room: Dina accuses Bridget of inventing the spy from the DA's
office in order to frighten Hart and Dina. Hart wants to know if that's
true. Bridget evades the question by saying they should thank he because
she switched the pictures and now Roger's safely locked away in the loony
bin. She insists now she has made herself a target and that she's
frightened. Hart agrees he's scared, too.

Spaulding Mansion: Amanda claims she spent $15,000 to hire a hit man for
Griffin, but he did a bad job. "It's so hard to find good help." Alan
finally realizes she's lying and asks why? She belabors the fact that he
doesn't love her and never takes her side in any controversy. She lets him
know in no uncertain terms how ludicrous it is for her to have arranged for
a hit and how angry she is that he would think her capable of such a thing.

Pool Hall: The pool shark refuses to say more except that the hit person
was a woman. After Fletcher leans on her a little, she agrees to reveal
more.

Cedars: Vivian starts to enter Griff's room but Marcus is right behind
her, asking if she's come to finish him off? Isn't he dead enough for you?
Vivian denies all, of course, saying she just wants to tell him she's
sorry. Enter Holly, who wants to ask Vivian some questions. Holly says
leave Marcus alone, Griffin will be OK.

Casa Spaulding: Alan's annoyed that Amanda just lied to him. She says she
was just doing unto him before he does unto her. After reading him the
riot act she exits. Enter Reva from the hidden passage way. Alan notices
her.

Hart's Motel: Bridget denies she invented the PI from the DA's office.
Finally she gets Hart to believe that probably Roger hired the guys. Dina
still doesn't believe it, but Hart wants to. Dina can't understand how
Hart can be so gullible. Finally Dina recounts Bridget's seduction of
Hart, causing Bridget to cry and Hart to comfort her. Bridget plays on
Hart's sympathies until finally Dina can't take any more and decides to get
some air. Hart wants her to thank Bridget for all her help. Dina exits.

Casa Spaulding: Alan wonders whether Reva can't stay away from him or is
she taking up private investigating? She says she promised Marcus she
would find out who was responsible for his father's shooting. He claims he
knows...it was someone who did it out of passion.

Cedars: Vivian and Holly chat on the way to Vivian's car. She says she
thought she hated Griffin until she saw him lying in Cedars. She never
meant for this to happen. Enter Fletch. He wants to ask Vivian some
questions..He wants to know where she was when Griffin was shot, because he
has a witness who saw her come out of the building just after Griffin was
shot.

Cedars: Marcus and Dahlia chat;.she's brought him food from the diner.
She doesn't like hospitals ever since her mother had an appendicitis
attack a few years ago. Marcus is touched that she doesn't hate him,
especially after what he told her about her mother.

Casa Spaulding: Reva asks again who shot Griffin Williams. Alan won't
say, because he doesn't want to wreck other people's lives. She thinks its
pretty strange that he cares about people's lives all of a sudden.

Cedars Parking Lot: Holly doesn't want to believe Vivian could have shot
Griffin. Vivian denies all. She says she was standing in the doorway,
but she would never have shot the man she loves and the father of her
child. Vivian tries to leave, but Fletch says no, she can't.

Cedars: Dahlia assures Marcus she doesn't hate him, but she doesn't
encourage him, either. Enter Michelle; someone wants to ask Marcus about
his father's medical records. After he exits, Michelle wants to know why
Dahlia is so discouraging to Marcus?

Hart's Motel: Bridget admits she cares about Hart but claims it isn't
passionate. She claims he's been such a good father and a good friend to
her. Bridget says she used to be crazy about Hart...that's how Peter came
along...but now she's grown up a lot. She warns Hart to stay away from
Dina to protect himself from Roger's wrath. After Hart leaves to go track
down Dina, Bridget asks why he can't see that she's the one for him, not
that scrawny Madonna wanna be.

Penthouse Rooftop: Dina stares into the night remembering passionate
kisses from Hart5 during their first rooftop session of the dirty deed.
Eventually she fast forwards to the money on the bed scene from the
Caymans. Hart calls her name from offstage.

Casa Spaulding: Reva begs Alan to stop all this madness. Haven't we all
suffered enough? (IMHO, the audience has definitely suffered quite enough
from this story already.) What would it take for him to wash his hands of
this whole mess? He says she already knows the answer. Reva looks at
him, as if she might really be considering this option. Then, figuring
she's been there and done that, she extinguishes his cigar in his whiskey
decanter, turns and exits.

Cedars Parking Lot: Vivian's acting extremely guilty, but Fletch shows her
she has a flat tire--that's why she can't leave until he changes it. Then
she can drive to the police station and answer some questions about the
shooting. She doesn't want to go, claiming she's worried about the scandal
and her privacy. They argue some more and finally he opens the trunk to
get the spare and sees something. Looking up at her he says, "Oh, my
God."

Cedars: Michelle wants to know why Dahlia's giving Marcus the brush off.
She claims it's because of who she is. She's not specific, but we get the
impression Dahlia's embarrassed about her mother. She exits. Enter Reva
who tells Marcus that she doesn't think Alan had Griffin shot.

Cedar's Parking lot: Closeup of a rifle in Vivian's trunk.

Hart's Room: Bridget lies on the bed dreaming about being together with Hart.

Rooftop: Dina hides from Hart, but he finds her anyway. Freeze frame on
them staring into each other's eyes.
