Sorry this is so late folks, but blame it on the power
company. Our power went out during the great outtage
like everyone elses and then on Monday Palo Alto was
treated to a special outtage during GL. I had to get
my Mom in Long Beach to mail Monday's show to me, thus
the delay. But the Roger violence is the way scene
is definitely worth updating.

GUIDING LIGHT TOO BAD IT'S MONDAY
 (OR TUESDAY) UPDATE FOR 8/12/96
               0R
LOVE ME OR HURT ME DAY IN SPRINGFIELD

TBIMOT HIGH (OR LOW) LIGHTS:
The JUDGE gets a earful from ROG
MANDY causes a bidding war among
  the brothers SPAULDING
DIRT declares love
JET strikes out with HART
REV finds out about the trip and
  plays detective
ROGER dreams of revenge

Let the Show Begin

CEDARS : SHAYNE'S ROOM:
Reva brings Shayne a new video game from her and a horse from
Abby. Josh enters, and sees them hugging.

SPAULDING MANSION:
AM demands the truth from Alan: did he try to have Griff shot?
Phil declares he wouldn't put anything past him.

COURTHOUSE : JUDGE HUFFMAN'S CHAMBERS:
The Judge chides Rog saying he shouldn't be there. Roger pulls
out his picture, but it turns out to be a picture of Petie not
DIRT in the Caymans.

FLEABAG MOTEL : DIRT:
Hart wants Di to repeat her statement that she loves him. Di
insists she said that she loves UFOs altho she isn't sure about
the alien autopsy thing. Hart refuses to be put off, and she
admits it.

TWIRL LIGHTHOUSE

SHE LOVES ME YEAH YEAH YEAH:
Hart is grinning foolishly. He never thought Di could love him
after the deal with Rog. Hart says that is what he wanted to
talk about in the Caymans, but they were too wrapped up in the
gaslighting thing. Di tries to blow it off, and leaves telling
Hart to call Rog's shrink. Hart is estatic that Di loves him,
while outside his door Di is berating herself for spilling all.

HOW MANY FINGERS?:
The Judge is puzzled and asks Rog how many fingers he is holding
up. "Two, why?," Rog replies, wondering if it is a trick question.
The Judge holds up a picture of Peter. Roger begs Bridget to tell
the Judge all about DIRT.

NO PROB WITH CYBEROT:
Rev and Josh chat about get-well presents. Rev tries to leave but
Josh and Shayne want her to stay. Josh says he has no problem with
"cyberot." Shayne can play his new game an hour for every two
hours he spends reading Shakespeare. Your cue, Annie. She enters
with Marah. Rev attempts to leave again, telling Shayne she will
see him tomorrow. Marah pipes up that Shayne is going home, and
they are all going on a trip--the honeymoon Annie and Josh never
had.

DAD IS WORSE TO YOU THAN ME:
Alan insists that he had nothing to do with Griff getting shot.
AM points out he didn't fess up about 5th Street until he was
caught. Phil points out that having a guy shot isn't much worse
than setting up your own son. To this, AM quips: "You or me?"
Phil is referring to himself, and brings up the Neal Everest
jail time. Alan claims Amanda is just trying to devert suspicion
from herself. Phil had Ross check; they shared a cell for 17 days
in June 1989. He asks Alan if he is going to persist with his story
now that they know he is lying.

CEDARS : MARCUS AND FRANK IN THE CORRIDOR:
Marcus spots Frank and demands to know what is happening with the
case: why is he here instead of finding out who shot his Dad? Frank
inquires about Griff, and is happy to find out he is critical but
stable. Marcus continues ragging on Frank for being at the hospital.
He says he's there to check out the angle of the bullet to see if
it is consistent with where they found the shell casing. Marcus
thinks he should save time and go arrest Spaulding. Frank tells
Marcus he was with his family, but Marcus thinks he could have hired
someone. Frank should haul him into headquarters and get out the
hoses. Frank points out that is exactly what he wanted to do when
he found Marcus standing over Cutter. Frank counsels caution and
avoiding a rush to judgement. Marcus tells him to find out who is
responsible "or I will."

I WASN'T CHUMMY WITH "THEM":
Alan the elitist claims he shared his cell with lots of people,
but he didn't become chummy with any of them. Phil points out that
Alan destroys men all the time, why should he draw the line at
gunplay? AM thinks maybe it was a warning shot that hit too close
to home; maybe it was only supposed to scare Williams. AM and
Phil think Alan can justify anything. Alan wonders why Phil is
sticking around if he is so reprehensible. Phillip tells him that
at the moment they are the only family he has; Beth has filed for
separation. A chastened Alan and AM express regret.

SOMEBODY TELL THE TRUTH:
Rog prompts Jet to tell the truth about DIRT. Jet tells the Judge
that it's true only in Rog's mind. Roger realizes that Jet switched
the pictures and she has to fend him off with a chair. Enter Dinah.
Rog is ballistic, yelling that one of them is going to tell the
truth. Which one of them wants to go first?

HALFTIME

I'LL CHOKE IT OUT OF YOU:
The Judge urges everyone to discuss things like rational adults.
Di and Rog start sparring. Roger wants her to explain the Cayman
pix. She begins to, not knowing about the switch, but Jet saves her.
Rog sputters that they are protecting each other. Di declares that
he is delusional. Roger tries to choke the truth out of her but is
restrained by the Judge. Security grabs Roger. Roger appeals to Jet
that Dinah can't get Hart if she tells the truth. Jet exits saying
that the truth is she should never have come. Rog threatens to get
her for this.

THE BROTHERS SPAULDING TAG TEAM:
Alan says he knows how much Phil loves Beth and Lizzie, and wants
to help. Phil taunts him, saying they should pretend he is a real
father who can put his arm around his son and Phil will pretend that
he doesn't expect a knife stuck in his back. Amen to that, says AM.
Phil laments that he should be used to it; not having a father who
loves without conditions and agendas. That's the truth, agrees AM.
Phillip points out they are not much better. Until he knows who set
him up, he can't trust Alan or AM. Phil asks for help, but Alan says
he can't and leaves. AM expresses his regrets about Beth and the
whole mess and says he wants to help. Phil thinks it would be so
much easier if he didn't give a damn, but he loves AM and every
member of the whole screwed up Spaulding family. Me too, echoes AM.
Enter TROUBLE: Amanda. "If it isn't the brothers Spaulding, the two
men most interested in buying my stock." Phil realizes that she has
approached AM. Mandy is selling to the highest bidder, family or
otherwise. If the brothers let love win out over money and power,
she has a possible Japanese buyer.

I HATE IT YOU KNOW ME SO WELL:
Marah tells all about their planned two week trip. Rev is obviously
shaken up and leaves. Josh follows. Josh does a lame thank you and
apologizes for biting her head off for suggesting Annie had a problem.
That is why this trip is so important. Josh wants to know why Reva
is so upset. She tries snow him but admits it is because she has
realized Josh has sole custody and can take the kids anywhere he
wants. Josh recalls her seeming lack of interest in the past; but
Rev says after what they've been through she would be inhuman if
she didn't love "our babies." Josh wonders if she regrets it, but
she says she did what seemed best at the time; and doesn't want
"to hear any stories about the one that got away." They both express
chagrin that the other knows them so well.

CEDARS : HOSPITAL CORRIDOR:
Frank tells Marcus to loose the attitude or his Dad's attacker could
go free. Marcus moans that he has had to endure a lecture and a
cliche. Frank notes that he used to be a hothead too, and departs.
Rev runs into Marcus and asks about Griff. Marcus complains that
the "rejects from Police Academy 9" are bumbling around when he
knows who is responsible: Alanspaulding. Rev goes on a guilt trip
about how she has brought all this about. Marcus frets about how
the evidence might disappear. Rev warns Marcus to stay away from
Alan; she is going on a mission. She spots Annie, Josh and the
kids springing Shayne and tells herself "you have to make the most
out of the hand you've been dealt."

YES I KNOW HE CHOKED YOU--BUT IS DINAH ALL RIGHT?:
Hart is at the Fleabag Inn fretting about Di. Jet arrives, and
the first thing Hart wants to know is whether Di is all right and
if she arrived in time. Jet says Di wasn't in time, but she was
and she switched the pictures. She tells him how she had to convince
Rog she didn't care and cry on his shoulder so she could get close
enough. She describes how wild Rog was when he found out. Hart
replies, "He didn't touch Dinah, did he?" Jet proclaims that even
though Rog tried to choke the truth out of her she was loyal. Hart
hugs her and asks what happened when Di got there. Jet asks if
her neck is still red, but Hart brushes her off and asks about Di
again. Jet says Di wrapped Rog around her finger; she has a real
knack for controlling men.

WISH I'D SQUEEZED THAT SCRAWNY NECK:
Rog calls Di an evil lousy slut. Di tells Rog to calm down or the
Judge will think him unstable. No kidding, says the Judge. Rog rants
about the conspiracy to switch the pictures. The Judge tells Rog
he has proven one thing: he's a dangerous violent man who escaped
from Midland Hills, disguised himself as an exterminator (musing
on the symbolism of this), attacked two women and threatened him.
He threatens to extend Rog's stay indefinitely. Rog regrets that
he didn't squeeze Di's scrawny neck tight enough with Laura's scarf.
Dr. Dobson arrives and they straightjacket Rog. Di mentions her
concern about the investigator sent to check up on them. The Judge
denies all, and finds out the DA didn't send anyone either. He
suggests she inquire at the Boardinghouse.

VIOLENCE ISN'T THE ANSWER:
Rog is back at Midland Hills. The Dr. tells him she wants him to
learn how to have a bad day and not turn into the Terminator. He
must break the bad habits he learned as a spy. The secret agent
thing is not going to play in Peoria. Violence isn't the answer.
Cut to Roger's fantasy. He is wearing a tux, seated at a grand
piano with Liberace candles. We hear DIRT yelling for help.
Rog: "There are those voices again."
We see DIRT in wet suits tied up, dangling over a vat labelled acid.
Di: "Please don't boil us in acid, we were wrong to drive you mad."
Hart: "We'll be good. I promise. Please save us."
Roger: "How can I save you? You're not real. I'm delusional."
DIRT: "We lied. You're as sane as we are."
Rog: "Small comfort there. Sorry, I don't take requests."
He laughs as they descend into the vat.
Rog: "Who says violence isn't the answer?"

WILL THEY SHAVE YOUR HAIR?:
Nettie wonders if Mandy's hair will be shaven in prison as per Miss
Alex? Mandy wants the boys to start bidding. AM says he will buy
the stock and give Phil his pick of jobs at Spaulding. Mandy tells
Phil she wouldn't trust him. Phil tells AM he wants the stock. AM
thinks he must still be on the A list of suspects. Mandy says that
Phil's offer of 12 mil still stands. AM bids 15. Phil points out
he got the cold shoulder the last time he asked AM for a job. He
bids 15.3. Mandy plays on the boys' fears, and gets AM to up the
offer to 15.5. Mandy wonders if Phil is going to trust little
brother, but he ups it to 15.6. Mandy declares AM has his answer,
and wonders if there is a counter-offer. Phil warns AM he has plenty
of room to go higher. Mandy tells "Brother dear" to play fair and
gives AM 24 hours. AM tells her she'll hear from him. Phil informs
Mandy, "You're a real bitch" as only he can, and exits.

ADS

BOYS WILL BE BOYS:
Alan wonders what Mandy did to make his sons fly out of there.
Mandy tells him that he is lucky to have her. She tells him about
the bidding contest and Alan is hurt because he gave her the stock.
Mandy says all her other money is tied up in AS and it was either
that or a tag sale NOT. Alan laments the bidding war between her
brothers for her own gain.
We see Reva enter the secret passageway.
Alan tells Mandy she is a disgrace to the family. Mandy points out
that Alan has been pitting AM and Phil against each other their
whole lives; she thinks it bothers him they are so much alike. Al
is not impressed. Mandy thinks they both do whatever they want no
matter who suffers. Alan wonders if she has no remorse, no shame?
Mandy points out if she did they wouldn't be partners. He is lucky
to have her; she has the guts to maintain their position on 5th St.
Alan replies, "Oh, my God. It was you. You had Griffin Williams shot."
Reva is getting an earful.

MIDLAND HILLS:
The doctor gives Rog his meds. Rog is groveling and promising to be
a good boy from now on. He asks for a piano; maybe music can soothe
the savage beast.

YOU SET THIS WHOLE THING UP:
Hart is looking at his watch. Jet tells him she is scared of Roger.
Hart vows to protect her and they hug. Enter Dinah. Hart exclaims
he almost went crazy waiting for her to come back. Di tells Hart
that the spy was not from the Judge or DA. She asks Jet what is
going on. Jet plays innocent. Di vows that Bridget set this whole
thing up and she knows why. Freeze Frame on the faux-innocent
Bridget and the clueless imposter-Hart.

That's all folks.
