Guiding Light Update, RealWednesday, August 7, 1996

Country Club
Girls in swimsuits ogle boys in swimsuits, and vice versa. J walks in
casting admiring glances all around. The Maitre'd stops him and tells him
guests must be accompanied by members in the pool area. J replies that he's
there on a matter of National importance. Elsewhere at the club, Matt and
Vanessa are there for lunch, but Vanessa only orders orange juice - she's
trying to stick to her diet. Matt is worried - she doesn't eat or sleep,
and has dizzy spells.

Outside the Boardinghouse
Hart and Dinah kiss as Bridget watches. Hart is worried someone might see
them, but Dinah doesn't care. Hart doesn't want anything to screw up their
future. Dinah wants to talk about their future, and it's important.

Asylum
Outside Roger's room, two asylum workers (they might be doctors) discuss
Roger, and mention that the arts & crafts session must have tired him out,
because he's been sleeping ever since. Through the window in the door, we
can see him lying in bed. Inside the room, we discover that the sleeping
form is a dummy. The real Roger has escaped, and is dressed as an
exterminator.

Country Club
Vanessa and Matt continue to discuss whether Vanessa needs to diet. It's
swimsuit season, she says. He replies that she looks great in a swimsuit.
Vanessa finally gives up, and changes the subject - Bill wants this
lifeguard job so badly. Vanessa is splashed from behind. They reminisce a
little bit about their meeting at the lake. They kiss, and Bill walks up,
rather grumpy. "You guys are in public, you know." Matt says no one is
watching them, they're all watching Bill. He looked great out there. Bill
pretty much ignores Matt, and tells Vanessa that she should have come
alone. He walks away. Matt notes that Bill has been acting like that
since Matt's past came out. Vanessa thinks Bill will be OK with Matt's
past, and that the attitude is due to raging hormones. They watch Bill
swim a bit, and Vanessa decides to leave - there's a meeting at Lewis Oil
she should go to - so Matt and Bill can iron things out. Matt thinks any
talk should be initiated by Bill, but Vanessa asks him to please try. She
leaves.

Outside the Boardinghouse
Dinah wants Hart to finish telling her what he started on the beach -
before Bridget called. Hart is hesitant - this isn't the right place.
Dinah pushes, Hart resists. He's about to give in when Bridget comes out
saying there's someone from the DA's office to see Hart. Dinah beats a
hasty retreat. George Packer, assistant DA, has a few questions for Hart.
Where've you been? Fishing. There's some verbal sparring - the DA's
office is going to keep an eye on you, Mr. Jessup. Hart makes it easy:
"I'll give you my itinerary. First I'm going to do some laundry, then get
a haircut, and then, if you're really good, you can watch me take my son to
the zoo." Hart leaves. Turns out, the "DA" is a real estate agent pal of
Bridget's. In return for services rendered, Bridget's going to feed him.
Nola walks up carrying Peter at the end of Bridget and George's
conversation. Nola just *knows* Bridget is up to something.

Cedars
Marcus is pacing. Rick comes in and tries to convince him to go home. It
could be a while before Griffin wakes up. As Rick talks, Marcus thinks of
something he can do for his dad. He heads out as Vanessa comes in. Rick
tells her they are all ready for her MRI test. Rick thinks Matt should be
there, but Vanessa insists that he not know.

Country Club
J is trying to get into the pool area by schmoozing the Maitre'd, but the
Maitre'd isn't buying. Matt walks by, telling the Maitre'd that J is his
cousin, and J is in. Matt asks why J didn't just say he was Henry
Chamberlain's grandson. "That would have been too easy", J replies.
J spies Michelle and Bill. Michelle ignores him, but Bill stops to talk.
J gives him a pep talk about the lifeguard tryouts. Bill thanks J for his
help the other night on the beach. J calls the guys who were hassling Bill
losers, but Bill says it's Matt who's the loser - a real jerk. He was a
real sleaze in LA. Matt comes up and tells Bill to say whatever he has to
say to him.

Cedars
Rick and Vanessa continue their discussion about whether Matt should be
there. Vanessa is adamant. Rick explains the MRI procedure to her, and
they begin.

Thorpe Penthouse
Dinah wonders about Hart's intentions, and decides it doesn't matter. She
got her grandfathers' money back, and that's what's important. She tries
to distract herself by packing up Roger's suits.

Gun Shop
Roger is buying a gun.

Boardinghouse
Nola is helping Peter read a book. Bridget comes in and Nola starts in on
her about what she's up to regarding Hart. "I'm not trying to break him
and Dinah up, if that's what you think", Bridget says. "I've heard that
before", Nola retorts. Nola picks up the paper as they talk and is
surprised to read that Griffin Williams was shot. They can't believe it.
Nola goes to the hospital to see if Marcus is OK. Bridget and Peter sit
down to read another book - "The Ugly Duckling". As Bridget begins to
read, she begins to fantasize. Hart, dressed in a red dress uniform,
carries Dinah, in ringlets, a long dress and a feather headdress, into
the Boardinghouse/Inn looking for a room. They appear to be on their
honeymoon, and very much in love. Dinah calls for "the pitiful woman who
runs this dreary establishment". How dare she keep them waiting.
Suddenly, Bridget appears in a beautiful gown. The music swells, Hart
drops Dinah, and goes to Bridget, saying she is the most beautiful woman in
the land, and he will spend the rest of his life with her. Hart and
Bridget kiss. Bridget's fantasy is interrupted by Peter telling Mommy to
wake up.

Hart's Room
Hart unzips his bag and dumps the contents on the bed. He looks at a photo
of he and Dinah in the Caymans. "I should have told you I loved you then"
he says to the picture. He daydreams about dancing with Dinah in the
Caymans. When the daydream ends, we're at the

Thorpe Penthouse
where Dinah has been remembering the same things. She was so sure he was
going to tell her he loved her. She scolds herself for worrying about it.
There's a knock on the door - Marcus is there. Dinah is very glad to see
him, but realizes something is wrong. Marcus can't believe she doesn't
know that someone shot his dad. Dinah is shocked. Marcus explains how it
happened. Dinah offers sympathy. Marcus wants Dinah's help to figure out
how Alan, who had the most to gain from this, is involved. He wants the
resources of WSPR for a 24 X 7 full court press on Alan. Dinah agrees.
Marcus leaves to put his plan into action. Dinah makes a call to the
station to tell them to do what Marcus asks. After she hangs up, someone
take photos of her in the penthouse.

Country Club
J departs. Matt wants to talk, but Bill has nothing to say. They end up
talking anyway, but Bill is unforgiving.

Cedars
The nurse is explaining to Vanessa that all jewelry must come off, including
her wedding ring. Vanessa doesn't want to take it off. Finally, she very
reluctantly removes it. Vanessa is scared. Rick reassures her. He tells
her he'll hold on to her foot, and they can stop any time if the tells them
to by wiggling her foot. Rick offers music, and Vanessa requests Vivaldi as
the MRI starts. After a commercial break, the MRI is over. Vanessa wants
to take her file home to study it, but she'll wait for the MRI results.
Vanessa thanks Rick for everything. He's been a good doctor and a good
friend. She couldn't have gone through this without him.

Asylum
Outside Roger's room, the doctor tells Dinah that Roger is improving. She
notes that he's taking all his anger and directing it toward something
positive - arts & crafts. It's tired him out, too, he's been sleeping ever
since. "You mean Roger's been making keyrings and potholders?" Dinah asks
incredulously. "Get real." The doctor is not amused. Dinah says it's just
not like Roger, that's all. She asks if Roger's improvement means he might
get out earlier that expected. The doctor isn't specific, but says Roger
should get better soon. A nurse opens the door. They stand in the doorway,
and Dinah says she won't disturb him since he's sleeping like a baby.

Hart's Room
Hart finishes writing some checks, gathers some laundry and leaves. In the
hall, Roger is posing as an exterminator. Hart doesn't recognize him with
the gas mask on. When Hart leaves, Roger goes into Hart's room.

Marler Residence
Matt is at work, and talking to someone on a cell phone. Whoever he's
talking to makes him very happy. He tells Blake that his and Vanessa's
dreams are about to come true.

Cedars
Vanessa is looking at her MRI results. She turns and literally runs in to
Nola, dropping her papers. Nola picks them up and says, "Oh, you had an
MRI. What's wrong with you?"

Asylum
The doctor encourages Dinah to visit with Roger. She's reluctant, but goes
to wake him. She screams as she discovers it's not Roger.

Hart's Room
With "Psycho" music playing, Roger searches Hart's room. Hart comes back
to discover Roger, who has quickly donned his gas mask, going through his
stuff.
