GUIDING LIGHT TOO BAD IT'S MONDAY
               UPDATE FOR AUGUST 21, 1995
                         OR
MIDLIFE AND OTHER CRISES IN S'FIELD DAY

Tangie says ta-ta to Roger and Springfield
Holly gets unexpected news about the "M" word
Blake and Ross are not visited by the stork
Alan opens a new "window" for Revecca
Reva is declared "dead" while a grieving Hawk
confesses his old life is over
Rog and Fletch resort to fisticuffs over milady

  LET THE SHOW BEGIN

  Rog at the Regency:
Our boy is on the phone berating someone who puts
him on hold. He hears the doorbell ring, slams the
phone down, and finds Tangie. She wonders if he is
having a bad day, but he assures her it is getting
better, and to come on in. She wonders if its a bad
time, he wonders for what, and she says "to say
  good-bye."

  Holly at the Gynecologist:
Holly insists that it is impossible that she is
pregnant, but Dr. Sedgwick assures her that she not
only can be, she is. Blake enters with Holly's snack,
senses the tension, and worries that it is something
serious. Holly says, "its very serious, I'm pregnant."
Blake's mouth hangs open, she is speechless.

  Hawk at the Judge's Chambers:
Hawk insists the Judge can't do that, but the Judge
tells him he can and did. Hawk says he'll appeal. The
Judge tries to explain that the evidence presented
required him to find Hawk's daughter legally dead, but
Hawk repeats that he heard Reva on the phone "just
as plain as you're hearing my voice right now." Ross
intervenes, and apologizes for Hawk, but H. isn't
buying it. He insists, "Reva Shayne's as alive as
  anyone in this room."

Cut to Revecca in Amish Country:
Revecca peers down at Alan who is propped up very
uncomfortably it appears in bed. Alan repeats again
that she is Reva, and when she comes close and asks
again if he knows her, he says, "Of course, I was
  married to you."

  TWIRL LIGHTHOUSE
[How soon before certain people on the list petition
that Tangie be removed from the credits]

Daisy Fuentes recommends Pantene Pro-V conditioner
for split ends -wonder if it would help Marion/Brent?

  Amishland:
Revecca fiddles with the stranger's cover while she
fills him in on his accident. He moans and repeats
again that she is Reva. Rebecca tells him that he is
confused, but he says he knows what he sees. R. tries
to tell him that his mind is playing tricks, but Alan
  says "You're my wife."
Revecca:"Not I, but your wife must be very worried
  about you.
When Revecca tells him a wagon is coming to take him
to the hospital, Alan doesn't want either the hospital
or his family, they'll only bring trouble.

  Judge's Chambers:
Hawk looks for a Bible or a stack of them to swear
on that his girl is alive. When Josh tries to
intervene, Hawk informs him that he has dropped the
name "Lewis" from her name, and all Josh is worried
about is marrying "that woman." Ross calms Josh
reminding him that they have won the war if not the
battle. [or is that visa versa]
Hawk attacks Ross (you shyster) wondering how much
he's been paid to wipe out Josh's wife like she never
existed. Josh and Hawk go through their " it's been 5
years -- that don't mean she's dead " routine, and
Ross and Annie try to calm them down. The Judge says
that nothing will be solved by this wrangling [no
kidding] and recommends Josh go on with his marriage
plans, and Mr. Shayne get counseling. Hawk says the
marriage will be a sham, and tells Annie girl that if
she has anything to do with this plan she'll be sorry.
Hawk:"It don't matter what Queen Bee Spaulding said, I
heard my daughter with my own ears." {LOL]
Josh splits, and Hawk slams out. Ross tells the Judge
he is sorry, and this was more bizarre than he
expected. Josh runs out to confront Hawk, while Annie
  tries to make excuses.
Hawk:"You think you buried Reva. Don't shovel no dirt
on her grave. I'm gonna stop you even if I have to
get my own lawyer and drag you back here to do it."
Josh wants to forget about courts, and tells Hawk he
knows exactly where and how to settle it, and drags
  him off by the lapels.

  Dr. Sedgwick's Office:
Blake mops up spilled juice so her Mom won't trip,
while quizzing her about the baby. They both grab
seats, Holly grabbing her midsection and looking quite
peaked. Blake is totally discombobulated. Both girls
want to reaffirm the news. Dr. S. nods indulgently (for
about the 4th time) and Holly mutters "Margaret did
say that." Blake envisions them being Moms together
sharing baby-sitting and play dates, to which Holly
  murmurs, "Oh, my gosh."

Hollybend (soon to be renamed : Follybend --especially
when the redecorators are through with it):
The mad redecorators (Nick & Fletch) discuss the
stripped wallpaper they've "put up." Fletch hopes Holly
is ok. He tells Nick that Dr. Sedgwick wanted to give
her one more test. Nick wonders if it's something to
do with the "M" word [was anyone else struck with
the relationship of this with the "N" word in the O.J.
trial, or have I just been watching too much Geraldo?]
Fletch tells him not to use the dreaded word out loud
or he'll "be hung up by his toes." Nick thinks it could
be something else, but Fletch can't think of anything
else it could possibly be. Nick tells "McPartner" that
he's no expert and Fletch says he isn't either. The
two "new age sensitive guys" discuss how this is
natural and Fletch says he owes it to Holly to help
her through this. Fletch declares, "If anyone can
overcome this midlife thing, it's my unflappable
fabulous wife." Fletch decides to have the new female
intern research the "M" word so he can read up on it
and learn how to support her. [Great way to keep it
  secret at the paper, Fletch!]

Blake gets not-so-good news about the stork:
Holly thinks her pregnancy is impossible, but Dr. S.
says her fancy test doesn't lie. Blake rubs her back,
telling her that older women than her have had
babies. [Is that supposed to make her feel better?]
Holly thinks that it's Blake and Ross who should be
having the baby. Dr. S. tries to get rid of her so she
can talk to Blake, but Blake wants her to give the
"good news" to both of them.
Blake:"Ok, Doctor. Make our day. I'm what--six weeks
  along?"

Maalox antacid for heartburn and tummy troubles--I
guess this can't help our Holly?

  The Doctor's Office:
Dr. S. gently tells Blake she isn't pregnant this time.
Blake thinks she has all the symptoms and the girls
wonder if the tests got mixed up. Dr. S. assures them
that didn't happen. She tells Blake she's only been
trying a little while--that she can tell Ross she's
healthy and pretty soon she'll be at Lamaze with Holly.
When Holly repeats this can't be happening, Blake
warns her not to let whoever is in there hear that.
She exits, saying she wants to be alone with Ross.
Holly tells Dr. S. that she and Fletch never thought
of having kids. Dr. S. wonders if she has any
  questions.
  Holly:"Yes, how did it happen?"
  Dr.:"The usual way."
Holly tells her that Fletch had a vasectomy and Dr. S.
says that rarely they fail. Holly repeats the whole
thing is impossible, but Dr. S. tells her it's true. She
gets serious and asks Holly what she wants to do.
Holly replies that she wants to see her husband.

Tangie and Rog at the Regency:
[Or, Parting is such sweet sorrow]
Roger wonders what all the good-bye stuff is about,
did Holly fire her? Tangie says Holly won't miss her,
that she has everything she needs, and Rog inquires.
"How are the newlyweds?" Rog says if Tangie is taking
a sabbatical to write a tell-all book on Alan he'll be
happy to publish it. Tangie says she is leaving S'field
not because of Alan but because she has a good job
offer in Washington. Rog thinks she is running away,
but Tangie insists she's going because of the job. Rog
goes through his mantra of standing up to the
Spauldings and Chamberlains, but Tangie says that is
how Rog sees things, and he doesn't know her as well
  as he thinks.

  Revecca-land:
Alan tells Reva not to leave, and she says she will
stay and take care of him but he must stop calling
her "Reva." "My name is Rebecca Bloom and I live here
in Goshen." Alan remembers that she was in the
Florida Keys the last time anyone saw her. In a
disjointed way, he tells her about the accident, and
that she drove off a bridge. Revecca has a flashback
to the bridge scene--"I'm coming Bud."

Ultress tells us that that's red and that's the power
of color -- something that Reva already knows about
  red
A very preggo young lady gets Balmex diaper rash
ointment at her shower--can we imagine Holly in this
position a few months hence? Another all-girl day!

  HALF-TIME

  Goshenbend:
Revecca looks at the heavens and says,"Dear Lord,
what ever happened to me? How could I forget my own
  husband?"
[Not too hard when you have so many to remember. We
even forgot that you were married to Alan]

  Lewis/Chamberlain/Etc./ House:
Hawk accuses Josh of driving like "a bat out of
Kansas" [is that faster than a bat out of hell?]
Josh thinks the further apart they are the better.
Hawk retorts that first he tries to bury Reva, and
now he tries to kill her dad. Josh says he's thinking.
about it. Annie wonders if they are going to have
fisticuffs in the back yard, but Josh thinks it would
be better of Hawk just packed his bags and got the
Hell out. Hawk, taken aback, wonders where he is
supposed to go. When Josh tells him to go home to
Sarah, and that he should be gone by the end of the
day, Annie wonders what Marah and Shayne will think.
Hawk says the kids are crazy about him and Josh says
that's because they don't know him as he does. Annie
is worried that the kids will hear, but Josh doesn't
want Hawk around to tell them any more lies. Hawk
retorts they are "stories. I tell them stories," and
that he would never hurt his grandkids Josh says he
already has by giving them false hope about their
Mother and this is just plain cruel. Hawk chastened
says he doesn't want them to forget her. When Josh
says it's been hard for them to let go of Reva, Hawk
says it has been hard for him too. Josh says he is
only sorry for Sarah. Hawk says he just came to see
his grandkids, but Josh orders him to "go home." Annie
tries to intervene, but Josh warns her not to get
sucked in. Josh orders him out, but Hawk says he
can't go. Josh offers to buy him a ticket, but Hawk
wonders "where to?" When he confesses he and Sarah
aren't getting along very well, Josh isn't surprised.
Hawk says Sarah has cut him all the slack she is
going to, and Annie wonders if their problems are
  serious.
Hawk:"Sarah threw me out for good. You kick me out of
here, my next and last stop is Skid Row."
Annie and Hawk look at Josh appealingly, and when
Josh wonders if it's just a scam, Hawk swears, "It's
  Gods-honest-truth. Without you, I'm nowhere."

  Courthouse:
Blake enters and sees Ross on a bench making notes.
He tells her to congratulate him. Now Josh and Annie
can get married and start a family. They hug and Ross
wonders if it's time for them to start shopping for
baby furniture. She tells him that "we're not pregnant"
but there is no reason they can't be in the future.
She is crying, but he reassures her that it's not
that bad, so they didn't do it on their first try. He
wonders why Blake is so upset, and she tells him that
this morning all she could think about were the bad
things (responsibility, work, getting fat). Ross
reassures her that parenting is 50/50 and he doesn't
care if she does get fat. Blake knows he would be
wonderful with a baby, but she was worried she'd mess
up. She thought she would be relieved, but finds that
she feels "like I have missed out on the most
wonderful thing in the entire world and it hurts."
Ross reassures her that they haven't and won't miss
out, and Blake tells him she really wants a baby. Ross
promises her that they will have one, and Blake tells
him she'll hold him to it. Blake starts to rush off
berating herself for being the same selfish brat as
always. Ross is mystified and pulls her back for a big
  smooch.

  Tangie's LAST SCENE:
Tangie tries to exit saying she's not going to stick
around while Rog calls her names, i.e. a quitter. She
forces him to apologize. Tangie thinks that Roger is
scared to be alone without anyone in his corner. Rog
says he has Chrissie, but Tangie knows he has
alienated her. Rog wants to know her sources, but T.
says it doesn't matter, she knows about the debacle
at the Towers with Dinah--his great go-to-hell to Van
and Ross. Rog insists that he does care about
Chrissie. Tangie tells him to wake up and not push
away the people that care about him. She tells him
that he could have had Holly, but he took a small
misunderstanding and made it bigger because he had to
control the situation. She thinks he pushed Holly away
. When Rog wonders if Holly told her this, Tangie
claims that she knows because that is what Alan did
with her. Rog says it must be great to be carrying
around all that wisdom, and Tangie claims she is
getting there. The smooch father/daughter style, and
Tangie declares, "I just know that there's a future
for me out there and I have to go and get it. [Does
she mean as Liza Colby on AW?] It would be a great
idea for you to do that too."
Rog tells her just to worry about herself. Tangie
tells him that she'd "like to see him let go his hate,
because if he found that love he's been searching for
his whole life, no one would be happier for you than
me." One last hug and Tangie exits thanking Roger for
  everything.
And thus, I believe, ends the saga of Tangie Hill in
Springfield. Sorry for those who wanted her offed by
Brent/Marion to make sure it was permanent.

  The Courthouse:
Ross demands to know what it's all about, and Blake
tells him Holly was there because she thought she had
the change of life. Ross protests that she is too
young, and Blake says he's right, she's pregnant.
Ross : "See there, I told you, she's too young ...
  She's what?
B:She's going to have a baby.
R (big grin): Holly is ...
Ross wonders how that makes Blake a bad person. She
says she was jealous, but Ross tells her that just
makes her a human person. Blake beats herself up
because her Mom was blown away, but all she could
think about was talking to Ross. Ross says he doesn't
think Blake is a "selfish brat" and neither does Holly.
Blake thinks Holly is in too much shock to know what
she is thinking, Ross anticipates Fletch's reaction.
Blake protests she is happy for her Mom, and Ross
says that he is happy Holly has found a man who
loves her "almost as much as I love you."

  Follybend:
Holly staggers in while the guys try to explain the
mess. "That's fine," she says as she tries to perch
near the couch. When they tell her to check out the
bedroom, and Nick mentions their inept wallpapering,
Holly says, "That's ok." Fletch finally notices she is
spacy and describes the f---ed up mess they've made.
When she says ok again, the Sherlocks decide she's
not ok. Nick decides to "get the hay out of here."
Fletch holds Red's hand and asks what tests the doc
  wanted to give her.
  H:"Blood tests."
F:"What did the blood tests say?"
  H:"I can't remember her exact words ..."
  F:"So it's a change of life thing?"
  H:"um...."
  F:"It's worse than that?"
  H:"It's not what we thought."
F:"Oh, come on Red. If it's something worse, you've got
to tell me. You're making me a nervous wreck."
  H:"I'm pregnant."
  F:"Pregnant?"
H:"I'm going to have a baby."
  F:"It's impossible."
  H:"That's what I said."
  F:"How'd it happen?"
H:"I asked Dr. S. and she said..."
F:"I don't care what Dr. S. said. Oh no, I know
  _exactly_ how it happened."
  H:"How could you?"
  F:"Oh, no, and I don't blame you -- if I blame anybody
I blame myself. You don't have to explain..."
  H:"But I ..."
F:"I don't want you to feel guilty please."
  H:"No, but I was worried..."
F:"No, no, I don't want you to be worried. That's the
last thing I want you to be. I'm gonna take care of
  everything.
  H:"You will?"
F:"You stay right here. I don't want you to see it
  when I do it.
Fletch exits, and Holly runs after yelling:
"No, no that's not what happened. Oh, my God."

  Fisticuffs at Rog's Suite:
We hear great banging, and Fletch yelling for Rog to
open the door. Rog comes and tells him to stop the
pounding. When Fletch ids himself, Rog says he knows
who it is. Rog tells him Tangie has left, but Fletch
says that's not what he wants. Fletch knocks the door
down and falls in. Rog tells him to catch his breath
and keep his distance. Fletch accuses Rog of
humiliating and manipulating Holly. "For all intents and
purposes, you raped her again." Rog wonders where
this is coming from, he and Holly let that go a long
time ago. Fletch says Rog has done some slimy things,
but he thinks this is the worst and he's going to pay
for it. Fletch takes a swing which Rog easily parries.
He warns Fletch not to touch him, but Fletch says he
is gonna kill him. He keeps talking about what Rog has
done to Holly, but Rog doesn't understand.
Rog: "I'm just going to say this one time. You better
catch control of yourself, or I'm going to teach you a
  lesson you wont soon forget."
  Fletch:"Start teaching."

Josh and Hawk at it again:
Hawk confesses to gambling away their T bills and
CDs. He says everything is gone. Josh wonders what
Sarah is living on. Hawk says she baby-sits and the
house is paid for. Sarah never wants Hawk to set
foot in it again. Hawk says he had no where else to
go. Josh thinks that explains his "grandfatherly urge."
Hawk mentions his "ticker pains." When Josh sees Annie
is being sucked in, Hawk says she has a heart, and
Josh says Hawk has "a line that's longer than the
  Oklahoma border." [LOL]
Hawk begs for time to get on his feet and make it up
to Sarah. Josh says he will send a check to her. Hawk
gets out the violins, and says he'll go. He apologizes
to Annie--says he was mad about everything. He says
the phone call was "nothing more than an old man's
hope that his baby girl was alive." Annie tells Hawk
that he isn't the only one this has happened to, and
that we all hear what we want to hear. Josh tells
Hawk he can stay just until he gets back on his feet
[Did I miss something here. Isn't this Vanessa's house
and isn't Josh a guest himself?]
Hawk says Annie is a good influence on "this here
Lewis lad" and goes upstairs. When Annie tells Josh he
did the right thing he expresses reservations, as well
he might since Hawk is eavesdropping at the top of
the stairs. They kiss, and Josh promises Hawk will be
  gone before the wedding.

Are you listening God? It's me Rebecca, I mean Reva
Revecca (addressing the heavens) says she is at
peace in Goshenland. If she had a husband and family,
  would she not have doubts?
R:"I'm safe here. The Lord might close one door, but
he always leaves a window open."
She says the good people she has met here are her
open window. She wonders why God has sent this man
here. He does not know the visions in her head. Why
does he call her Reva? The man on the telephone also
used that name. "What if this man is my window? Help
me Lord. Help me do what is right and true, and I will
  do your bidding."
  Alan calls Reva again.

Blake and Ross try for the pennant:
Blake is on Ross' lap (at the Courthouse!!). They
declare their mutual adoration and decide to go home
  and practice making babies.

The Big and Little Princesses petition their Prince:
Josh wonders if they should just elope but Annie says
she has two reasons they can't. One, it's a sneaky
way to get rid of Hawk, and two, Marah, it would
  break her heart.
Josh:"My little Princess has to have a big wedding."
  Annie:"Your big Princess too."
J:"Is that politically correct, to refer to yourself as
  a Princess?"
A:"Come here, my Prince, and give your Princess a kiss
before she turns into a toad."

  Amishland Revisited:
The wagon comes to take Alan to the hospital, but
Revecca doesn't want him to go. When her friend
questions her because she seemed in such a hurry to
get rid of him, R. says she was wrong and he should
  stay.

  Fisticuffs 2:
Rog hits Fletch in the groin and a few other choice
spots. He throws him against the wall, and grabs
Fletch, who is bleeding from the nose, by the neck.
He chokes him, and lifts him by the neck off the
floor. He keeps applying the pressure, until Holly
runs in and tells Rog to stop it or he'll kill him.

[I remember a scene where Billy beat up Rog like this.
Is Fletch supposed to be that much weaker? Wouldn't
Rog's CIA training have helped him then to overcome
Billy? Maybe Billy had Hamp or Josh to help him. I'm a
little hazy on that. They sure are making Fletch look
like a wimp. Maybe its because he's a sensitive new age
  guy.]
