Dinnertime in Springfield, USA...

REGENCY: Jenna, looking very European in an orange pantsuit & chic
matching head scarf, enters her suite to find Alan waiting. She confirms
that, although it wasn't easy, she delivered his letter to the Journal.
She mentions the fact that there's a note on AM's box stating that his
mail should be held, so she's not sure when he'll get it, if ever. Alan
is suddenly concerned about the fact that Jenna left the letter there. He
insists that it's her job to find AM & if she doesn't do it by tonight,
he's going to cut her loose as dead weight. "Because tomorrow, the world
will know that Alan Spaulding is back."

JOURNAL: Blake strolls past the Personals boxes; there's a letter in #38,
but the note is still on the box. Blake, Holly & Ross are waiting for
Roger to reappear, while union workers, staying late for a meeting, mill
in the background. Holly heads for her office to get some work done.
Blake apologizes again to Ross for trying to get info about Alan; she
insists that Rog didn't ask her to--that she just got curious when he
brought up the subject "accidentally." Ross notes that Rog never does
*anything* accidentally. [BTW, I loved that scene yesterday between Rog &
Blake. He is *such* a manipulator & Blake is like putty in his hands.
Kinda sick when you consider that she's his daughter...] Blake begs Ross
not to be angry. He promises to give every effort to make dinner with her
folks pleasant.

ROSS'S OFFICE: David reads Kat's letter: "Dear David, I'm sitting here
looking out the window of my hotel room. There's a park below the window
that stretches to the Danube, which really is blue, but I can't see it
today. I can't see anything, can't think of anything, except what I'm
going to say to you. Writing this letter is the hardest thing I've ever
had to do."

BOARDINGHOUSE: Dylan complains that the offer he's received for Reva's
land is very low, but if he can get it up $18-20K & take a tax deduction
on his loss, he'll have enough to start work on Nick & Mindy's house. Jet
won't let him think about selling the land. Matt listens unobtrusively
from the other end of the kitchen.

OUTSIDE THE BOATHOUSE: Harry Jones & compadre watch as Tangie lets
herself in. Tonto thinks that if Tangie was going to get them in trouble,
she'd have done it by now. He thinks they should go back to the Journal
to see if there's a letter for AM with Alan's address. Harry wants to get
to Tangie before she goes to the police. Sundance says if they off her
now, they won't be able to return to the Journal for the scoop on Alan.

JENNA'S SUITE: Jenna is surprised that Alan has altered his schedule. He
says there's a possibility that his life could change in a "dramatic way"
tonight. Jenna's curiosity is piqued. Alan says if she wants to be part
of his master plan, she'll find AM tonight. He starts to leave. Jenna
guesses that Cupid's hit a bulls-eye. "You think your life is going to
change. And it probably will, except it may not change in the way you're
hoping." She earnestly wishes him luck. And while she doesn't feel
optimistic about finding AM, she'll try. She thinks there's one person
who might be able to help. Cut to...

COOPER HOUSE: Eleni enters with a laundry basket while Nadine tries to
feed a not-hungry Marina. Eleni worries about who's feeding Marina what.
"We have to watch Marina's diet -- she's a Greek girl." :-) Eleni thanks
Nadine for all the work she did on the re-wedding. Nadine gives some of
the credit to Buzz. She's nervous because he's being so nice to her. They
talk about how wonderful the ceremony was & Nadine admits she was
watching the video earlier, but only got up to the story about the dove.
Nadine thinks there are parts of the video where Frank's face looks just
like when he was 6. Eleni wants to see, so Nadine starts up the tape. She
has a little trouble with the remote (it sticks since Marina dropped it
in her orange juice) & accidentally FFs a bit. Where do you think the
tape starts playing? Good guess--Buzz is extolling Nadine's virtues. The
ladies lap it up & Nadine gets teary-eyed. Then comes the part about
Jenna. Eleni goes to stop the tape, but Nadine wants to hear. "...I would
die for that woman, but we just can't manage to do one thing: be
together." Eleni stops the tape. Nadine looks stricken.

BOARDINGHOUSE: Matt talks to his mom while holding a pad with the number
of the Springfield PD's "investigation line." He tries to calm mom down--
the police were only asking about him because of a bunch of parking
tickets he ran up in Columbus. He promises to pay them as soon as he gets
some money. He says if it had been something really bad, the police would
have said what it was.

Bridget reminds Dylan of his great plans for the land: homes for people
who couldn't afford them. Children playing in the open air... Dylan
insists that his first obligation is to Mindy & the only thing that will
change his mind about selling the land is if Bridget has changed her mind
about living with him in one of the houses he was going to build there.

ROSS'S OFFICE: David continues to read. Kat's not coming back right away
because her mom has arranged for her to study for a semester at
Wittenburg University & she can't turn down the opportunity. "No, I
promised myself I wouldn't do this. I swore I'd be honest with you.
There's another reason I'm staying, but you probably guessed that. It's
me, David. My life wasn't going the way I wanted, the way I dreamed it
would. Please don't take that the wrong way. I love being with you. I
love you. You're a wonderful man, but something's missing & I'm starting
to realize it could be me, my sense of self." She promises to come back
after a few months, but doesn't think they should write or call while
she's gone. "I know it will be a little hard, but it's the best way,
David, for both of us... I miss you & please believe that I love you. Be
well, Kat." As he's reading, David looks sad, yet a smile occasionally
plays across his lips. When he finishes reading, he sighs, turns out the
lights, and leaves.

Rog has been wating outside & as soon as David is out of sight, he lets
himself in. He goes through the desk drawers.

JOURNAL: Ross is getting impatient. Blake asks if he still thinks it's OK
for her to go back to work. Ross is all for it. Blake wonders if it would
bother him if she worked for "an old friend; someone I was involved with
briefly--very briefly." Ross looks apoplectic, thinking of AM, but calms
down when she says it's Frank. Harry Jones lurks in the background. Blake
thinks she would really enjoy working in the PI business & be very good
at it, since she's naturally nosy. Ross thinks this is pretty funny. He
wonders if she's been reading too many mystery novels. Blake is miffed,
since Ross encouraged David in the same endeavor.

A cop enters, inquiring about the recent break-in. Meanwhile, Harry Jones
removes Alan's letter from Box #38.

BEACH: Tangie reads by moonlight. Alan appears & is glad to see her
enjoying his gift. In a much more natural voice than any Ron Raines has
exhibited thus far, he says he's been thinking of little else but their
last meeting. "I feel I'm at a crossroad. Something has happened that I
didn't anticipate." Tangie has somehow changed his vision of the future--
it seems now smaller & dimmer than a life with her might be. "If I could
tell you all there was to know about me... then do you think you would
feel more for me?" Tangie listens impassively, then turns her head away.

JOURNAL: Harry lurks while Holly explains to the cop that the person who
witnessed the break-in isn't there now. She suggests the cop come back in
the morning when Tangie is in. Holly looks at her watch & decides Roger's
time is up. She goes to call him, to make sure he hasn't "fallen down a
well or something." Ross (to himself): "We should be so lucky."

Blake figures if someone had broken in, he would have set off an alarm.
She decides to check with the security guard to see if anyone signed in
last night but didn't sign out. Ross seems surprised that she's actually
making "a certain amount of sense."

Holly is unable to find Roger. Ross tells her about Roger's sudden
interest in Alan Spaulding's assets in an attempt to get some
enlightenment. He suggests that even as they speak, Roger may be trying
to break into Ross's files.

BEACH: Tangie protests that Alan barely knows her. Alan is sure he knows
her well. His mystery is over; he wants her to know everything about him.
She doesn't want to know, & covers her ears as he says, "Allow me to
introduce myself. I'm Alan Spaulding." She doesn't hear him & says she
wants to be his friend & have him know he can trust her. "But that's all
I have. That's all I can give. It's all I have inside of me right now.
And what I think you feel for me, I wish that I felt for you. But I
don't." Alan looks devastated.

COOPER HOUSE: As a documentary about an antelope being killed by a lion
plays on TV, Nadine suggests that there's no need to mention that they
saw what was on the tape. She's sure he was so drunk he doesn't remember
it anyway. Eleni says nothing. Nadine figures Eleni thinks it's wrong
that Nadine is taping over what Buzz said about Jenna. Eleni doesn't want
to judge. "I was just wondering if you could stand it." Nadine admits
that it hurts, sometimes so much she can't stand it. She tries to think
of Jenna as being way off to the side & having nothing to do with her &
Buzz. She talks about how great things have been between Buzz & her
lately & remembers falling in love with him when she was 15 and dreaming
of the day when he would want just her. But that day never seems to come;
he always wants something bigger & better. But always comes around &
realizes that whatever he's after isn't good for him after all. Nadine
figures she's just as guilty of that herself. For instance, she might be
better off giving up on Buzz, but she can't. Eleni reassures Nadine of
how much she & Marina love her, then takes the baby off to bed.

Jenna knocks on the door & Nadine stares at her through the window as if
she's seen a ghost.

BOARDINGHOUSE: Bridget evades Dylan's question, then says if she told him
now that she wanted the house, he would always wonder if she really meant
it or if she just said it so he wouldn't sell the land. She wonders what
happened to the man with the dream, the man she fell in love with. She
thinks he's selling out his dream for someone else's. Dylan figures if he
can't live on his mom's land, why shouldn't he give it up.

David walks in & Bridget sees immediately that something's wrong. Dylan
asks what happened.

ROSS'S OFFICE: Rog continues to search for the file he needs.

JOURNAL: Holly accuses Ross of unjustly suspecting Roger of all crimes
ever committed. She says Roger has tried valiently to put aside his
differences with Ross & that he adores his daughter. "That doesn't stop
him from trying to manipulate her, does it?" counters Ross. Holly
disagrees. Blake arrives & informs them that a "Harold Sherman" signed in
at 10 PM last night, but never signed out. Ross suggests that the 2 of
them go to the Towers & wait for Holly & Rog to join them there.
BEACH: Alan asks why Tangie let him think there was a future for them.
"Is there somebody else?" Tangie says he doesn't get it--it's about
*her*; how she feels inside. Alan gets indignant: "Do you have any idea
what you're turning down? Don't you know the kind of life I'm offering
you or is your imagination too limited for that?" He immediately
apologizes for his outburst & leaves. She cries & begs him to stay.
"Wait!!" On her porch, Harry Jones looks up from his attempt to pick her
lock.

BOARDINGHOUSE: While Matt unobtrusively makes himself a PB&J, Dylan tries
to put a good face on Kat's announcement. How could she pass up such a
great opportunity? She'll be back before he knows it. Davod thinks he
never paid enough attention to Kat & asks Jet if she agrees. Jet
diplomatically says that everyone feels that way sometimes, but doesn't
think it has anything to do with why Kat's not coming home. She suggests
that it would be better if Kat came back to him wholeheartedly. David
figures the time might be good for him too--he can save some money for
the ring & for the house Dylan's going to build him. Dylan hides his head
in his hands while David gets excited thinking about how Kat will love
the place. He asks Dylan if he's changed his mind about building the
houses & Dylan says of course not. "Why would I change my mind?"

COOPER HOUSE: Eleni meets with Jenna on the porch. Jenna asks if Eleni
knows where AM is or has a phone number for him. Eleni says she does not
& that she has to put Marina to bed. Jenna comments on how beautiful
Marina is & Eleni thanks her coldly, then goes inside. Jenna stares after
them wistfully, then turns to leave. Nadine steps outside & tells Jenna
that Buzz isn't there. She offers to say hello to Buzz for her, but Jenna
says it would be best if she didn't considering their last encounter.
Jenna asks if Nadine knows where AM is; she doesn't. Jenna thinks it's
odd that of all the Coopers, Nadine is the one who's most polite her. She
asks how the remarriage went. Nadine says it was really nice & asks if
Jenna would like to borrow the tape. Jenna thinks that would be nice &
Nadine invites her in. Jenna asks Eleni if she would mind letting her
watch the tape & Eleni gives her consent.

BEACH: Tangie looks around distractedly, then bends to pick up her book.
She falls face forward into the sand as someone hits her from behind.
Harry Jones stares down at her still form.

BOARDINGHOUSE: Dylan & Bridget discuss Kat's Dear David letter in low
voices. Dylan thinks Kat sounded like she was going to dump him. Jet says
Dylan gave David something to hope for in the house. "It's a dream for
him now, just like it's a dream for you." She thinks it will all work
out. He kisses her & makes a move; she suggests with a wink that they "go
check on Peter."

Matt dials the police & tells them he witnessed the hijacking & that he
saw a strange-looking tattoo on one of the men.

FUTURE SITE OF "MEADOWLARK CROSSING" (gag, cough--are they really going
to keep that name?!): David stands on a bridge & hears some noises in the
woods. A woman dressed in black climbs over the railing and anxiously
begs, "Hide me!"

ROSS'S OFFICE: Rog hits paydirt & starts copying Alan's trust papers.
Holly arrives & gives him the evil eye.

JENNA'S SUITE: Jenna watches Buzz emote about Nadine's charms. The tape
goes fuzzy, then the documentary starts up. Jenna wipes her eyes &
answers the door. It's Alan. She's not surprised. She tells him
regretfully that she wasn't able to come up with anything on AM. She
doesn't know what else to do. "I never applaud incompetence, but in your
case it's of no consequence." He decides he doesn't need his son or "any
of those sloppy images love conjures up. None of that has any bearing on
my real life. It never did." Jenna says it never did for hers either.

BEACH: Jones drags Tangie along the beach until he himself is felled by
someone wielding a two-by-four. The figure staggers & leans on the club,
then raises his head to reveal the face of Alan-Michael, as the screen
fades to black.

He's baaaaack! ("practically from the dead")
