**********ALLIKAT'S TERRIBLE TUESDAY GL UPDATE FOR JULY 25, 1995*************
*****************************************************************************

No folks, the show wasn't terrible, my day was! I woke up to my husband
yelling that our cat was hit by a car and then spent the next hour
finding a vet, finding a sitter, and mostly wringing my hands in the
vet's office while they worked on my kitty. We were very lucky that Turbo
didn't require surgery and that she managed to come away with only a
dislocated hip (which popped itself back in,) torn ligaments in her knee
and bruised hindquarters. We were also lucky that we only had to pay
about the equivalent of a car payment for her care. But I digress...point
is, I got out of the vet's at about 1:20, blowing my chances for catching
ATWT, grabbed lunch and my child, ran home, burst in the back door and hit
record on the VCR at 2:02 by my clock (GL comes on at 2 here.)
(Then I went out and brought in my cat, son and lunch!!) According to my new
South Minneapolis ratsc pal, Felicia, I didn't miss anything so there ya'
go! I want to try to get Tuesday's update out before Thursday's show airs
so I'll shut up and get to work! Thanks for your patience!

ALLIKAT

SOME FOLKS CALL IT PETROL, PERHAPS YOU'VE HEARD OF IT?
Frank & Buzz are stranded in the middle of nowhere. Seems they've run out
of gas, yet the gauge indicates a full tank. Frank blames Buzz for not
tanking up and Buzz blames Frank. Frank reminds Buzz that he was supposed
to fix the fuel level indicator. (Frank, aren't you the former mechanic?)
Buzz insists that they aren't in the middle of nowhere there must be
civilization around because they are 50 miles outside Gary, Indiana. (You
should be able to smell it from that distance.) They are in a big huff to
get to Gary to find Cassie Lawrence to get her to testify against Alan
Spaulding. Frank recalls seeing a gas station 5 miles back but Buzz
insists that as an American he *KNOWS* American roads and figures there
must be a closer station ahead. They start to head off in opposite
directions when Frank rips into Buzz saying he's not King of the Road any
more than he's Man of the year or Father of the year. Buzz looks stunned
by the hurtful barb.

HOORAY FOR FOLLYWOOD!
Ms. Lindsay *hyphen* Reade and Mr. Reade are smooching & cooing in bed
and talking about what they want to do on this particular day of their
follymoon. They are busy reminding themselves that they haven't even
thought about Springfield or the paper when there's a knock at the door.
Holly's ordered room service,"Reason # 95 for marrying you," quips
Fletcher, "blueberry pancakes I hope?"

"Nope."

"Ah, remind me to divorce you in about 50 years!" says Fletch as Holly
brings him a tray of food, complete with a newspaper. Holly unfolds the
paper and exclaims: "Oh my God, look what we're missing. Alanspaulding's
been arrested!" Fletch grabs the paper and looks over her shoulder at the
article.

CEDAR'S HOSPITAL (ALAN'S GUARDED ROOM)
Sid enters and is berated by Alan for not getting there earlier. Sid says
that the bail hearing has been set and Alan growls that he'd *BETTER* be
a free man by noon. Sid, who's obviously been a busy guy, says he's
spoken to Alan's bankers and that there's some paperwork that he'll have
to fill out to cut through the red tape and get him released. Alan
insists that he'll just write a check and Sid explains that the courts
won't accept one because they figure if Alan's assets are tied up he's
less likely to be a flight risk. Alan is indignant and fumes about how
ridiculous that is while Sid says that he expects the bail to be quite
high. Alan then demands to know where his sister is and complains about
her not being there for him with all he's going through. Alan says that
he's not going back to jail no matter what happens. (Maybe he'll make a
rope out of the hospital bedding and climb down from his hospital window like
Roger did to escape!!)

SPRINGFIELD URINAL
Tangie is reading Nick's story off his monitor at his desk. Tangie tells
Nick that it's good and Nick explains that he tried to keep her name out of
the article as much as he could but that it was hard to do. Tangie says she
knew that when she asked him to write it. (Is Tangie Hill, Girl Reporter now
also Acting Editor-in-Chief??) Tangie looks toward the door and mutters
"Great, this is just what we need," as Alexandra approaches. Nick
literally makes himself a physical barrier between his mother and Tangie
telling Alex that if she's come to give Tangie more grief that she should
just leave. Alex says that what she has to say to Ms. Hill is private and
that she won't leave until she hears her out: "Tangie, this is about Alan
and I'm asking please."

"It's okay Nick, thank you." says Tangie calmly, "In here," she tells
Alex, indicating Holly's office, "_PLEASE_." Nick looks on disgustedly.

ROLL LIGHTHOUSE!!!!!

(Dang! Is that all? I lost my carrier <wicked storms outside> and hadn't
saved recently so had to retype about 2 scenes. Seems like it should be
halftime already!)

HOW CAN YOU SIT AT THAT DESK AFTER SEEING FOLLY MAKING THE BEAST THERE???
In Holly's office, Alex apologizes for overreacting and tries to kiss up
to Tangie who responds sarcastically, not buying it. Alex tries to
portray Alan as Brent's victim, whereupon Tangie finds her long-lost
backbone and tells her off. She says that Alan lied to her and
emotionally and financially supported a man who had sabotaged his son,
raped a young girl and held a gun to her own head. Tangie suggests that
Alexandra talk to Nick who believes that Alan faked the whole anxiety
attack at the jail and has been lying, scheming and manipulating all
along. She says Nick thinks that everything is an act, including the
little visit from Alex. Alex calls Tangie self righteous and says that
she is going to tell her some truth and that she is going to listen.

AM'S GOT A PRIVATE YACHT, ALAN'S GOT A PRIVATE COT!
As Alan dresses, Sid tells him that he needs to stay as calm and cool as
he can or he's going to wind up in the prison section of a State Mental
Institution. (Which state, hmmmm???) Alan starts ranting about Alex not
being there like she promised. Sid tells him to forget about Alex and
Alan keeps rambling about how Alex doesn't really understand and how she
still holds a grudge about Tangie. Sid tells Alan he'd better start
making sense or he's finished. Alan says that he's prepared and that he
trusts Sid to come through for him. "Maybe I will, maybe I won't." says
Sid.

"You're an excellent attorney. The best there is, Sid," states Alan,
"That's why I pay you so highly." (Really? We thought it was so you could
yell at him like he was 4 and call him at 2am to transfer cases full of
cash to fugitive criminals!) "Now, is there something else on your mind?"

Sid's jaw tenses as he asks Alan if he got Gilly fired from her TV job in
LA. Alan says that Sid already knows the answer and Sid says he wants to
hear it from him. Alan tells Sid not to be naive, saying he knows how
things work around here. Sid is stunned to hear Alan admitting to
foiling Gilly's career plans and Alan casually says that he thought that
Sid and Gilly already knew because Gilly is always giving him little digs
about it. He assumed that Gilly had told Sid. Sid says that he didn't
believe her and Alan says he merely ignored the truth in order to work w/
him. Sid admits to being ambitious but claims he never would have
sacrificed Gilly's career because of it. Sid says he doesn't play like
that and Alan laughs saying "Since when? Come on Sid, you should be
thanking me. I brought Gilly back here as much for you as for me."

"You arrogant, selfish son-of-a..." starts Sid.

"Come on Sid, get off your high horse!" chides Alan saying that Sid
wouldn't have been happy in LA and Gilly wouldn't have stayed in
Springfield. Sid says that whatever might of happened between he and
Gilly would have been their choice and warns Alan to play God with other
people but not with him. Alan asks Sid if he wants Gilly to go back to LA
saying all it would take is a phone call. He says that Sid could go with
her although he'd be abandoning the neighborhood projects that he's
worked so hard on. (Heh heh, heh heh, she said hard on!) Alan picks up
the phone and starts to dial but Sid stops him. Alan grins smugly and
says "Well, now we understand each other. Now let's go get me out of
Jail." On cue, the guards enter saying they're ready to transfer him to
the courthouse and Alan claps Sid on the back saying "Let's go, Partner!"
Sid's distraught look says "I just sold out 2 centuries of African American
struggle to become Alanspaulding's 'boy'." He holds back tears as he puts his
head in his hands.

BACK AT THE COOPERMOBILE

As Frank is getting a gas can out of the trunk Buzz asks where Frank's
comment came from. Frank tells him to forget he said anything and Buzz
says that Frank can't make a dig like that and expect to get away with
it. He admits to being a lousy father and to not being there for Frank
and Harley when they were growing up but says he thought that they had
gotten past that. "Maybe you have but obviously I haven't," mutters
Frank. Buzz wonders what he can possibly do-should he leave again? Frank
tells him that he wants him to stay and Buzz tells him that he needs to
act like it. "Wish me luck then," says Buzz, heading off in the opposite
direction of Frank, "It's gonna' be on my gravestone....'Rotten Father.
Ran out of gas.'" Frank tries to tell Buzz to stay, that he'll go back
and get gas but Buzz insists: "No, wish me luck, Frank, cuz your no good
father's coming back, okay?"

(Power Rangers at Comfort Inn? All the more reason to stay home!)

BACK AT FOLLY'S HUNNYMOON CABIN IN THE MOUNTAINS OF WISCONSIN...
Fletch & Holly discuss the possibility of Alanspaulding going back to
prison. They both try to fool themselves into thinking it's not really
big news because they are on their honeymoon. They snuggle some more then
find themselves slipping back into Journalist mode. Finally, they jump
out of bed, with Fletcher saying he'll pay the bill and Holly saying
she'll drive the car around. They figure they can get out of there in 15
minutes. (Yick! No showers?!?) They kiss and pack.

THE SPAULDING WHO WENT UP A HILL AND CAME DOWN EMPTY HANDED
Alexandra explains to Tangie that when she saw Alan panic at being locked
up it was no act, it was real. Tangie suggests that the only thing real
about Alanspaulding is his ability to manipulate people. Alex wonders if
Tangie has ever felt *really* trapped and Tangie tells her to get to the
point. Alex explains how Brandon (their father) used to lock Alan in a
broom closet to teach him discipline. Tangie looks angry and says "That's
child abuse." Alex says that they didn't call it child abuse then,
Brandon was simply considered a strict disciplinarian who wanted to teach
his children that they must succeed, especially Alan. Alex recalls
Brandon locking Alan up and sitting outside hearing Alan scream in terror
for hours and Brandon saying he couldn't come out until he stopped
crying. Alexandra becomes extremely emotional recalling the past horrors
and remembers a time when she snuck down after she'd gone to bed and let
Alan out for awhile. She says she'll never forget the look on his face -
it was pure terror.

"Well that's horrible." states an emotionless Tangie

Alex then uses classic Spaulding manipulation techniques (TM) and tells
Tangie that she holds the key that could prevent Alan from entering that
"special kind of hell that he knows." Of course, all she would have to do
is not testify. Tangie stares at Alex.

AND NOW A SCENE RIGHT OUT OF THE MOVIE "WITNESS". TODAY THE ROLE OF
HARRISON FORD WILL BE PLAYED BY JUSTIN DEAS AND KELLY MCGILLIS BY KIM ZIMMER.
Buzz stumbles upon a little house in the country, opens the gate and
proceeds up the walkway. He stops dead in the doorway with his mouth
hanging agape because he has spotted a beautiful blonde woman, wearing
only a thin, white cotton gown, bathing herself with water and lemon.
(All ya' need is some sugar for a tasty beverage!) Of course, before we
even see her face we know it's Reva because of her patented "lemon elbow
rub." Yes folks, it's Reva, with shoulder length blonde hair and no head
bandage. Buzz gawks at her for an eternity as she sensously bathes
herself. They play this wispy, soft pan flute & chimes music as she washes
and I'm not kidding when I tell you that they showed her squeezing a
(natural) sponge and letting the water pour over herself in *SLOW
MOTION*!! They keep throwing in shots of Buzz alternately gawking,
shaking his head, and walking away only to turn around again being drawn
in by Reva's allure. I counted, people. They showed her sponging off for
1 minute 32.48 seconds!

HALFTIME!!

OOOPS, MAKE THAT 1:36.05!!
Reva catches sight of Buzz watching her, gasps and covers herself up with a
towel. Buzz sputters an apology and explains that he ran out of gas. Reva
says it's alright and seems surprised that he has a car. She says that
she thinks there's a gas station about 15 miles east of them. Buzz
mutters that Frank was right and then asks to use her phone but she doesn't
have one and nobody is home at the main house where there is a phone.
Buzz asks where he is and Reva looks for a map. She asks that Buzz forgive
her for being so slow, explaining that she is recovering from an
accident she had several weeks ago and then faints into his arms.

HERE'S A QUARTER, ALAN, GO BUY A CLUE!
Alan and Sid walk into the Spaulding Mansion with Alan ranting about
being treated like "a dangerous criminal."Sid says that the judge was
following standard procedure but Alan laments that he felt like he'd already
been convicted because they seized his passport, grounded his jet and set
an "astronomical" bail. Sid thinks that he can get the bail reduced after
the preliminary hearing and Alan says "No, you're going to do better than
that, Sid." Sid insists that he'll do what he can and Alan says that he
wants all the charges dropped. Sid says that that would be much easier to
do if Alan hadn't spilled his guts to Tangie and Alan Michael. Alan
insists that Sid's job is to keep him out of prison and Sid suggests
certain strategies that would enable him to do that. Sid says that given
her relationship with Alan, Tangie could be vulnerable to an aggressive
cross examination but Alan won't hear of it. She could also be portrayed
as promiscous..."NO!" insists Alan,

"Do you want me to keep you out of jail or not?" asks Sid

"Find another way. You will *NOT* hurt Tangie." warns Alan.

OH TANGIE, WHAT WOULD TAMMY WYNETTE SAY?
Tangie reminds Alex that she was the one who tried to warn Tangie that
Alan was up to something and Alex claims that she was just angry. Tangie
shouts "Alex! Don't lie to me!" and Alex claims that was before she
realized that Tangie had feelings for her brother and asks for her help.
Tangie says that Alex is asking her to purger herself and Alex insists
that she just has to refuse to take the stand. Tangie says that her own
childhood wasn't a picnic either but you don't see her hurting anyone.
Alex defends Alan saying that he never meant to hurt her. Tangie says
that Alan used she, Lucy & Alan Michael like pawns in a great big chess
game. She says that Nick warned her how easy it is to be sucked into the
Spaulding way of doing things and Alex says that she thought Tangie
lapped up the Spaulding way of life. Tangie says that she was merely
trying to stand by Alan to help him realize that he didn't need all the
money, power, jewelry and connections. Alex asks her why she doesn't
stand by him now when he really does need her. Tangie tells Alex that
when she goes back to the Spaulding House she should check her conscience
at the door. Alex wonders if Nick has fed her all of this and Tangie says
that this was her decision and she would have come to this no matter what
Nick said. "So you're absolutely determined just to destroy my brother?"
demands Alexandra.

"Those are your words, not mine." states Tangie, showing her out.

"Just what sort of a turncoat are you?" Alex asks Nick, who says he
doesn't need to have this conversation again. Alex berates him for
continually putting down their family and spreading "anti-spaulding
propaganda." She asks him if he really wants to see his uncle go to
prison and Nick says he's sick of seeing she and Alan using the Spaulding
name to batter everyone into line. He says that what Alan did is as low
as it gets and that he hopes Tangie takes the stand and exposes the
truth. Alex accuses Nick of not understanding about family loyalty.

"Oh? Is this what you call family loyalty?" asks Nick, "A father
stabbing his son in the back-the same man who stabbed his nephew in the
back to get power over his sister? Look. You don't have to tell me about
this family. I have been in it and I have been out of it and out of it is
definitely better! Now excuse me, I have a piece to write." Nick turns
and storms away leaving Alexandra to glare at the back of his head. As
she walks out of the office she encounters Fletcher and Holly. Fletcher
greets her and she ignores him. Fletch comments that things are
definitely starting to happen and Holly agrees.

(Mommy, wow! I'm a big kid now!)

Folly are simultaneously inundating Nick with questions and he tells them
it's all in his article and hands them a copy, asking why they're back
early. They both blame the other for being bored and ask how Tangie is
holding up. Fletch announces that they can't print Nick's story because
it's not objective enough. Nick insists that every word in the article is
true and Fletch says that there's a difference between the word true and
the word factual. He understands Nicks need to get back at Alan and Alex
but says he can't use their newspaper to do it.

HOLLY & TANGIE HAVE A LITTLE ONE ON ONE IN HOLLY'S OFFICE
Tangie explains how Alex accused her of stabbing Alan in the back and
twisting the knife and questions whether she should have done it. Holly
insists that no matter what happens Tangie isn't the judge or the jury.
Tangie reiterates what Alex said about it killing Alan to go back to
prison and says maybe she shouldn't testify.

ALANSPAULDING (ONE WORD) IS CLEARLY DELUSIONAL...
Alan tells Sid that he won't see Tangie torn apart on the stand and
suggests that she may not testify at all because she cares for him and
doesn't want to see hurt him. Alex walks in, hears the conversation and
walks out, listening outside the door. Alan says that because he told
Tangie the truth when she demanded he tell her about Brent and that he
bared his soul to her she won't testify. Sid hopes that Alan is right
because if Tangie doesn't testify and Cassie isn't found the state
doesn't have much of a case. Alan asks about Alan Michael and Sid says
it's his word against Alan's and suggests that the odds are in Alan's
favor on that one. (Yeah, Alan has years more experience lying.) Alex
makes her presence known by asking about the bail hearing. Alan chastises
her for not being there and sarcastically asks whether it was a hair
appointment or shopping that kept her from the hearing. Alex embraces him
and says he must be feeling better because he has all his wit and charm
back. She asks Sid to leave them alone. Alan demands to know where Alex
was and she says she went to see Tangie. Alan grins and says "Oh, I see,
I see. So she ah, won't testify against me will she? She cares about me.
Isn't that what she said?" (Cha, and monkeys might fly out my butt!)

FRANK HAS GAS!
Frank returns to the disabled Coopermobile with a can of fuel and finds
that Buzz isn't there.

WHAT'S THE BUZZ? TELL ME WHAT'S A HAPPENIN'...
Buzz is mopping Reva's head as she lies in bed. She tells him that it's
not necessary and he reminds her that she fainted. She says she only got
dizzy for a moment and that it passed. Buzz says she shouldn't be alone
and asks if there is anyone to take care of her. She explains that
everyone is out in the fields and he offers to go get someone. (Yeah,
grab the guy with the beard and hat, wouldja'?) Reva says she just moved
too quickly (yeah, 65mph off a bridge in Florida,) and insists that she's
fine, her doctor has just made her spend too much time in bed. Buzz
offers her some water (or perhaps lemonade?) She comments on how few
strangers they see there and asks what brought Buzz to her part of the
county. Buzz states that he is on a mission and Reva assumes he's a
traveling minister. (Yeah, the Dockers and patterned shirt were a dead
giveaway!) Buzz explains that he's looking for a woman in Gary who can help
his daughter and says he can't go back to Springfield without her.
"Sp-Spring field?" stammers Reva.

(Perhaps new Pepcid AC might help Frank's gas!)

Buzz asks Reva if she knows Springfield and she asks if that's where he's
from. He explains that he was born there but was away for many years. She
asks what he's holding in his hand and he shows her his good luck charm
that his father gave him as a Christening gift saying it's probably as close
as he gets to religion.

"I think God knows who we are whether we belong to a church or not."
states Reva.

Buzz asks if she has a husband out in the fields and Reva averts her eyes
saying she has no husband. She thanks Buzz for helping her back to bed
but says she doesn't want to keep him from his mission or from getting
gas. Buzz insists that it's no trouble and says that he was in a lousy
mood when he got there. He explains that he and his son were at each
others throats and that the last few weeks have been tough for his
daughter. "It seems far away now," muses Buzz, "It's peaceful here."

"I have found that too," says Reva, smiling, "You had better go."

Buzz apologizes for overstaying his welcome and Reva explains that it's
just not proper for a man and an unmarried woman to be alone together
unless one is a doctor or a minister. She assures him that she is
steadier now and that someone will be by to check on her soon. She gets
up to show him out amid his protests that she stay in bed and they say
their goodbyes. As he's leaving Buzz turns and says: "I don't know your
name." Reva looks uncomfortable and says "Godspeed" as she closes the door.

IF I HEAR THE EXPRESSION "MY DARLING BROTHER" ONE MORE TIME I'M GONNA' LOSE IT!
Alan thanks Alex for going to see Tangie when he was incapacitated
(musta' had some bad lemon drops) and gloats about how Tangie must have
agreed not to testify against him. He demands to know what was said and
Alex says she wishes there were a way to soften the blow . Alan insists
that Tangie won't testify against him because she loves him but Alex says
Tangie sounds determined to take the stand. Alex suggests that Tangie wants
revenge after being hurt or that she just wanted to bag another
millionaire. Alan insists that Tangie isn't like that. Alex reminds him
that Tangie was raised by Roger Thorpe and must have learned something at
his knee. Alan protests saying Alex must have misunderstood, Tangie would
never testify against him, then accuses Alex of attacking her. Alex
says she went and apologized for everything she even thought of saying to
her and begged Tangie to show some compassion. Alan continues to delude
himself until Alex says "Alan, I'm sorry but that girl doesn't give a
*DAMN* about what happens to you.." Alan glowers.

TANGERINE & HOLLY...THE COMBINATION IS REMINISCENT OF CHRISTMAS!
Tangie weighs the pros and cons of testifying against Alan and lays a
guilt trip on herself. Holly compares Alan's manipulating to Rogers and
says she struggled with the same questions for years. She tells her that
in the end you just have to do what you know is right. Holly recalls how
easy it is to get tangled up in the two. She says she tried everything
with Roger: "I tried to forgive him, I tried to understand him, I refused
to see him, I gave him ultimatums, I even almost married him again..."

"But you didn't marry him, you married Fletcher." (Tangie Hill, Ace
Reporter doesn't miss a thing!)

"Just in time!" replies Holly, "Before sealed a deal with someone I would
never be able to trust."

They continue to talk about Roger and Alans deceitfulness and Holly says
the best she can tell Tangie is to listen to herself.

MY FRIEND FLICKA
Flick (Fletcher & Nick) are discussing Nick's story. Fletch says if they
print the article Nick can kiss his family goodbye which Nick doesn't
mind one bit. Fletch understands why Nick is upset with Alex and Alan but
wonders if he really wants to burn bridges with the Spauldings. Nick asks
him to take the bi-line off and Fletch thinks he means no author name but
Nick says "Put by Nick Mc Henry. I never wanted to be a Spaulding in the
first place."

IT'S GOSHEN, RHYMES WITH OCEAN AND REVA'S BEEN IN BOTH!
Reva walks dreamily around her house wrapped in a blanket (Reva, not the
house.) She bends to pick something up. It's Buzz's Christening gift-a
miniature portrait of Madonna (the one that wasn't on Letterman) and
child. She looks at it mistily and smiles.

HERE'S A HINT: G-O-S-H-E-N!
Buzz walks back to the car, which Frankie is lying across the hood of.
Frank asks what took him so long and Buzz asks for a map to find out
where they are. Frank says it doesn't matter, he got the gas so they can
leave. He doesn't want to see the place anymore. Buzz finds Goshen on the
map. (Did I mention it rhymes with ocean?)

BUT I'M ALANSPAULDING! YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME!
Alone, Alan pours himself a drink and looks at Tangie's photo. "Why
Tangie?" he asks of the picture, "Why?"

THREE GUESSES WHY, ALAN!
Holly sits on *THE* desk and tells Tangie that if she needs to talk
anymore she's here. Tangie thanks her for the advice and Holly asks: "So,
what are you going to do?" Tangie has that startled look of a deer in
headlights. (Not funny given the feline situation at our house! I'm an
equal opportunity offender I guess!)

(Tell us what you think, call our 900# - we've cut the price by $2.00 a
minute!)

THAT'S ALL FOLKS!!
