My reception went awry and the picture was pretty bad today,
so I may have missed some of the finer nuances of the show. :(

Recap Friday's cliffhanger: We see the tense faces of Gilly, Alan,
AM, Cutter. Zoom in close on Buzz looking especially worried.
Lucy says, "I'll do it." She's sure Brent won't be able to stop
himself from calling. Cutter starts giving instructions to Gilly,
but Buzz and AM object.

Tangie says Lucy's been brave. Alan tells her she has, too.

Lucy says, "This nightmare started with me, and I'm going to
end it."

BAUER KITCHEN
=============

Nadine shows Eleni the "prayer bow" she's tied around her
finger, in hopes of positively affecting the Brent manhunt. They
hug and commiserate.

BAUER LIVINGROOM (wedding)
==========================

Another recap: The minister says the "in sickness and in
health" bit, Holly starts to answer [do you? don't you?], Blake
gasps and we see Roger watching, looking vaguely amused.

Beat.

Roger strides forward commandingly and Dinah jumps out of
her seat, not wanting to miss a moment of the fun. Ed tells
Roger he shouldn't have come. Barbara's (Holly's mom) stands
and says firmly, "Roger...NO." Roger smirks condescendingly at
his former stepmother. Blake says "Dad" in a warning tone.
Dinah watches with glee.

Fletcher tells Rog it's a private ceremony, so he should leave.
Holly steps forward.

"I love him, I'm going to marry him and nothing you can do
will stop it!"

Roll lighthouse!!!

(Who does Holly think she's kidding? Stopping weddings is
Roger's specialty!)

Vitamins in shampoo aren't very logical, are they?

Fletch and Holly again tell Roger to leave. He finally speaks:
"Sure went to a lot of trouble, didn't you?" He wants to know
why they hid the ceremony from him. Holly tells him not to
ruin it. He wonders if that's what everyone thinks he's going to
do. Blake says no, but warns him not to make trouble. He
shoots a poisoned glance at Alex and then turns the charm on
Barbara, complimenting her looks in a very sarcastic tone. He
points out that she's doing what she's always done: protecting
Holly from Roger. "We're all mindlessly playing out the same
roles that we created for each other so many years ago, and we
just can't let go of them. Do you think I'm that powerful?"
Fletch tries to shut him up, but he rides right over it; does
Holly really think he can single-handedly ruin her wedding,
stop her from marrying someone else? She says that's what he
was planning. He admits it. He talks about the huge revelation
he had when he found out she'd been deceiving him these past
weeks; he wondered how she could hurt him so deliberately,
and he wanted to hurt her back. But now, "seeing you here...our
lovely daughter by your side...seeing how beautiful you look in
your wedding dress....well..." He trails off. Holly gets annoyed.
"Well what?"

Lucy tells AM she knows he wants to protect her, but she
wants to do this. He, Frank and Buzz start yelling all at once
and she shuts them up. She's sick of them trying to protect her;
she has to do her own thing. They relent.

Cutter compliments Tangie on her job done tonight and offers
her a police escort home, but Alan says he'll take her home. She
agrees. Cutter looks hurt :(

Tangie tells Alan she's not leaving yet; Brent is out there! Alan
promises to kill Brent if he hurts Tangie again. She says she
doesn't care about her own safety; Brent is a huge story and
she plans to get the whole thing. She strides off and Alan looks
worried.

Commercial

Gilly tells Lucy she couldn't get any airtime tonight, they'll
have to do this tomorrow. Lucy is upset. Cutter tells Lucy it's
better this way, it'll give the cops some time to strategize. Lucy
tells Buzz to go home, she's staying. Buzz tells AM to watch out for
Lucy, and leaves.

Alan thinks Tangie should go home now, since nothing's going
to happen tonight. He offers her his guest room again. She puts up a
protest, but he insists. "Until Brent Lawrence is caught,
you're moving in with me!" Tangie replies, "Yes sir, thank you sir"
but instead of the outraged how-dare-you-patronize-me
tone she should be using, she's making it sound seductive. [Gag
me!!!!!!!!!!] They leave together. Cutter watches unhappily.

Lucy tells AM not to try to talk her out of it. He just doesn't
want her to get hurt. He swears he'll convince her not to go on
the air.

WEDDING
=======

"It's done, Holly," Roger says. "I don't want to hurt you anymore.
I sure as hell don't want to love you anymore." (Shot of
Dinah and Ross, standing together.) (Shot of Ed in the
background) "My days of playing the jealous Moor to your
Desdemona are over," Roger goes on. [What an appropriate
metaphor!!!!!!!! And here I always thought Roger saw himself
as Hamlet. I'll spare you the obligatory literary-junkie
comments...] "I'm setting you free, and I'm setting myself free
too. All the passion, the love, the doubts, lust and pain...it all
ends here." Holly looks incredulous. Roger smiles wistfully.
"Goodbye, Holly." Astonished whispers from the crowd. Roger
turns and leaves, shaking his head. Dinah watches him go.

As Alex stares in amazement, Blake wonders if someone should
go after Rog; he might hurt himself again. Holly says it's not
going to happen. "That part of our lives is over. Now the good
part begins." Fletch hugs her. "Where were we?" Everyone laughs
and returns to their seats.

The priest starts to repeat the question, but Holly remembers it
perfectly, and says her I Do's. Suddenly, Blake turns and rushes
out. Holly plows on. "I take you, Fletcher, through sickness and
health, missed deadlines and flat tires, ex-spouses and
children..." The priest begins "Do you, Fletcher Reade..." Fletch
interrupts: "Boy, do I!" More laughter. Fletch pulls out the ring.
"I swear, I vow, I promise, that Holly Lindsey will come first
always in my life, and last, and everything in between." [What
about Ben?] Holly smiles.

Outside, Rog tells Blake to go back in; mom needs her. She won't
leave till she knows he's OK.

Back inside, Vanessa and Matt exchange a sappy look as the
priest talks about the joining together of two souls. He
pronounces Holly and Fletch married. Hamp and the band burst
exuberantly into the wedding recessional, but Barbara stops
them. Everyone stares as Barbara pronounces herself an old-
fashioned woman and entreats Fletch to kiss the bride.
Laughter. He does so with alacrity and Barbara cries, "Hampton!
Hit it!" Everyone starts hugging.

Outside, Blake tells Rog she's sorry. He's sorry she got caught in
the middle. He insists he's OK. They proclaim their love for each
other and hug. Rog tells her to go back inside and be happy for
Holly. She goes, reluctantly. Rog smiles, and leaves. The strains
of the wedding march come to an end as the door closes, quite
definitively, behind Blake.

Commercial.

WEDDING RECEPTION
=================

Ben and Bill eat canapes; Ross broods; Barbara tells Fletch she
thinks he's the right man for Holly. She almost gets the feeling
Rog feels the same way. Holly's not sure the same is true for Blake,
who's sulking. Barbara goes to talk to Blake. Blake sees
her face and says "Uh-oh, I've seen that look before." She looks
at Ross in the background and adds, "In fact, it seems to be all
the rage tonight." Barbara asks her why she had to hurt Holly.
Blake defends herself, and Holly tries to stop them fighting.
Barbara apologizes, but obviously still thinks Blake shouldn't have
left. Blake storms off.

Nick calls for attention and says that since Ben can't have
champagne, it falls to Nick to make the toast. He does so. Your
standard "true love is so encouraging" speech. Matt looks bored.
Nick wishes them "love, happiness, and a new wardrobe for the groom."

Blake tells Ross she's sorry, and he says she should apologize to
Holly. She says Roger needed her; Ross says Roger needs therapy.
[This is news??]

Bill tells Ben he should make a speech. Ben plans to say something
about the battle of the sexes, which Bill thinks is "excellent."
Ben catches sight of Alex and decides maybe he'll just keep his
mouth shut.

Dinah asks Blake how Roger is doing. Blake says he's fine, and
tells Dinah to leave him alone. "You've been warned." Coolly,
Dinah informs her that Rog saved her life, and so she, Dinah,
plans to be his friend for as long as he wants. Blake looks less
than pleased.

Dinah starts to leave, but Van and Matt ask her to stay.

Hamp tells Fletch to dance, and Fletch tries to dance with
Hamp, but gets pushed into Holly's arms. They gaze lovingly
into each other's eyes and dance. Dinah glares at the equally
loving looks on Van and Matt's faces. She rushes out. Matt
watches her go, looking slightly amused.

Frank and Buzz enter the kitchen, to hugs from Eleni and
Nadine. The men update the women. Frank wants to find
Brent's sister, who probably knows where Brent is. Nadine
takes shrimp to the revelers.

AM takes Lucy in a side office and reminds her that he tried to
get her to go to a counselor or a rape group; how is this
different? Only now she'll be telling her deepest painful secrets
to the world, instead of just a few people. She apparently hasn't
considered that. AM points out that if Brent calls, he's not
exactly going to whisper sweet nothings. AM wishes he could
take Lucy's place. Lucy insists that she can do it, but she wants
his help. His former resolve melts completely and they hug.

SPAULDING HOME
==============

Alan ushers Tangie into a spotless room and they make
chitchat about Ginger's skills. Before going to get her stuff, Alan
says he wants to take Tangie to Europe, naming several
romantic spots, including Milan, where they can maybe find
Mindy? :) [Anyway, hasn't Tangie already been all over
Europe?] Alan says some stuff about how much he cares about
her. She thanks him for keeping her safe. He wishes she could
come stay with him for reasons other than safety. Suddenly he
bursts out into a tirade against Brent. "No one does that to the
people I love!" He hugs her tightly, while she looks startled and
a little scared. Alan turns to leave, but Tangie says his name.
They kiss.

I've never been so happy to see Billy Cosby in my life. Bill,
please, will pudding pops make me forget the nauseating scene
I just watched?

Post-commercial, the bed looms large in the room as the kiss
continues. Tangie removes Alan's jacket and reminds him that
he used the word love. "Did you mean it?" "I've loved you since
the first moment I saw you," he lies. "At that moment, I always
knew this would happen." [What arrogance!!!!!!] They trade
some more of that disgusting banter that soap characters
always engage in pre-sex....let's call it "Soap foreplay." They
kiss some more. Tangie sits on the bed and pulls Alan by his
tie. They lie down and continue kissing. Romantic music. Ugh!

Cutter and Gilly tell Lucy they're going to put her on the 6:30
news, the station's most-watched show. Lucy's disappointed --
she wanted to get it over with in the morning -- but Gilly
thinks this'll give her time to publicize the thing. Lucy agrees.
They decide not to think about what if Brent doesn't call?
Cutter assumes that Lucy will stay at AM's, but she pulls AM
aside and tells him gently that she wants to sleep in her own
bed at the boardinghouse. Cutter goes for a police detail and
AM vows to sleep outside Lucy's door. She doesn't seem
bothered by that idea.

WEDDING
=======

Holly dances with Ed, Fletch with Barbara. Ben circulates,
passing out hors d'oeuvres. He stares in consternation at Alex, who
gives him a sharklike smile.

Nadine tells Eleni they haven't found Brent's sister yet, but
Frank's still trying.

Ed calls everyone to attention for the tossing of the bouquet.
Eleni makes Nadine get in the group, though she protests.
Lillian tries to get Alex in, but she doesn't want to go. Matt
ushers Vanessa over. Fletch tells the priest to make sure the
women don't use their elbows. Ross wields the videocamera as
Holly gets ready. Alex changes her mind and steps into the
fray. The single ladies laugh amongst themselves.

The windup!

The pitch!

It's Vanessa, surprise surprise. She and Matt smooch, and then
he says "Go for it!" Vanessa tells everyone they have an
announcement to make. They announce that they've picked the
third weekend in September for their wedding. Everyone
congratulates them as Dinah stews.

Van goes to Dinah and says how nice it'll be to have her and
Matt under one roof. Dinah pretends to be happy for her, but
slips out as soon as Ed distracts Van.

Blake and Ross argue some more. Ross doesn't want to talk
about it till later.

Alex awkwardly congratulates the newlyweds. They stare after
her, almost speechless, then decide it's time to "take it on the
lam" and rush off.

Lillian compliments Alex for keeping her cool. Alex is
philosophical. She goes over to where Ben and Bill are chatting.
"Get lost, Bill," she commands. Bill is only too happy to comply.
Alex calls Ben a ratfink.

Commercial

Ben apologizes and shoves responsibility for the scam where it
belongs: on Holly and Fletch. Then he admits that part of the plan was
his idea. He wouldn't blame Alex if she hates him. He
offers to give her back the gifts. Alex tells him she's impressed,
because he managed to fool two extremely savvy people
(herself and Rog). She tells him to come to her when he's old
enough, she'll give him a job at Spaulding. Ben looks nonplused.

The happy couple try to run out, but everyone gets them with
the confetti. Holly has it in her hair as Blake tells her she wants
her to be happy. They hug. Holly has a similarly tender
moment with her mother. Barbara says she has a return flight
in a few hours. Holly's disappointed, but Barbara has stuff
to do. She mentions Adam (her ex-husband, Roger's dad) and how
proud he would have been to see Roger do the right thing for
once. They exchange some more loving words and cry and hug.

Fletch and Ed do the same thing, in the macho version.

The newlyweds get to the door, but Holly doesn't know where
they're going for the honeymoon. Fletch has one word: "ski
boots." OK, he admits it's two words. Everyone cheers as they
leave.

COUNTRY CLUB
=============

Roger looks forlorn. Dinah joins him. Roger finds the situation
ironic: "Here we are again, you and I, right back where we
started." He thinks they've come full circle. Dinah disagrees; when
they first met, he was still intent on getting Holly back.

"And you," says Roger. "What's your story, Dinah?" She smiles
humorlessly.

"I was a damned fool," she replies. "But not anymore." Fade to
black.

What happens after your two thousand flushes are gone? The
toilet disintegrates?

WEDDING
=======

Ed and Lillian dance and he thanks her for helping with the surprise.

Ross and Blake dance and she asks him to talk to her. He insists
she doesn't have to worry about Rog; he'll land on his feet, he
always does. "Will we?" she asks.

COUNTRY CLUB
============

Dinah chuckles. "If my dear mother and her little boyfriend
think that they're getting married in September, I have a
newsflash for them: it'll never happen. I won't let it happen."
She laughs the same sardonic laugh.

WEDDING
=======

Van and Matt dance. "I can't wait to be your wife." Smooch.

SPAULDING HOME
==============

Post-boink, Alan promises never to let Tangie down. "Where
did that come from?" "My heart, a place that hasn't been
touched in a long time." She says he's a mystery to her, but she
intends to solve him. [Blech!!!] Smooch City.

BOARDINGHOUSE
=============

AM and Lucy watch Gilly, on TV, announce the show that will
happen tomorrow. She calls Lucy "very courageous."

WSPR
====

Cutter watches as Gilly continues extolling Lucy's bravery.

HOTEL
=====

Brent hears Lucy's name and stares at the TV as Gilly says
Lucy is ready to talk about the kind of man who would commit
"violent, hostile acts" like this. Brent breathes heavily. "You're
gonna be sorry, Lucy. You're gonna be so sorry." God, he looks evil!

That's it!
