Wedding day in Springfield, USA...

HOLLY'S COTTAGE: Holly, wearing a facial masque, stares at her ghostly
image in the mirror. She is impatient to remove the goop. Blake distracts
her with her collection of old, new, borrowed & blue. Old is an ivory
handkerchief that Blake's grandma gave her. Holly examines the embroidered
"N" & muses that at least she'll have some bit of her mom there. "Did you
ask her to come?" asks Blake. Holly hasn't called her, having decided her
mom is no doubt too busy. New is an ordinary hairclip. Borrowed is Blake's
favorite bracelet, a gift from Ross. Holly was worried that Blake would be
her "something blue," but Blake hands her a blue cigarette lighter that
Dinah left behind. "Maybe we can work it into my hairdo," jokes Holly. The
doorbell rings & Holly peeks behind the shade, then worriedly tells Blake
to "get ride of him" and not to let him into the house.

DINER: The Coopers are gathered around the TV set watching Gilly's show on
violence against women. On the air, Tangie listens to a caller who sounds
like Brent tell her that she's talking crap -- men don't carry around rage
against all women; it's a lie spread by paranoid feminist losers. Lucy
goes pale & tells her family it's Brent. Alan-Michael enters in time to
hear the end of the call & also recognizes the voice. "He's alive, Alan-
Michael," says Lucy, worried. "He's still alive."

Buzz phones the police while Tangie argues with the caller. She seems to
be trying to keep him on the line. Frank starts to call the TV station as
Buzz decides to go down there. A-M follows him out, with Lucy right
behind. Frank, unable to stop Lucy, joins the crowd. Eleni urges him to be
careful.

WSPR: Alan is stopped by a production assistant who tries to keep him off
the "closed set," but starts toadying as soon as he tells her his name.
Alan has come to meet Tangie. Dinah bugs the assistant about when she's
supposed to go on; the asst. says the 1st segment is running long & Dinah
will just have to stand by. "Well you need to know that I have someplace
to be," replies Dinah obnoxiously. The asst. is not fazed.

Tangie challenges Brent on his characterization of women & sends him into
an extended monologue on the subject. Alan listens with an inscrutable
expression. "I'm no different than any other guy... we can't do anything
right by you... women want a man to be... in charge & sexy. So you give
`em what they want & suddenly you're too macho.... All of a sudden,
they're accusing you of forcing them into something they didn't want.
Women like to tease; they're all after the same thing: sex. They just
don't like to admit it."

The asst. hands Gilly a note. Gilly looks quite concerned as she reads it;
she watches Tangie, who is skillfully handling Brent. She suggests that
maybe he has just had bad luck with women. "I treat women like goddesses,"
he maintains, "and all I've ever gotten is grief." He complains that when
women make "bogus accusations," everyone believes them, but no one
believes men. Tangie asks if he's talking from experience. "Has anyone
ever leveled an accusation against you?" Click. The caller is gone. Gilly
calls for a commercial break & she & Tangie rush off the set. Tangie says
they should call the police, but Gilly tells her Buzz has already done so.
Tangie tells Alan it was Brent on the line.

BAUER HOUSE: Lillian, in a pastel green suit, welcomes Vanessa & Matt,
ready to work in their jeans. Ed complains that they could have dressed up
a bit & Lillian says she's taking them upstairs to change. Van won't go
anywhere until she finds out what's going on. Lillian drags her off anyway
& Matt follows.

HOLLY'S COTTAGE: Fletch barges in over Blake's protests & drops off a gift
for Holly. Blake insists that he leaves without seeing Holly. Fletch isn't
superstitious & tells Blake what a wonderful day it's going to be. And
then he notices that she's obviously made up with Holly, so there's even
more reason to celebrate. Blake admits that she has no right to play judge
& if her mom thinks it's true love, who is she to say otherwise. "Don't
you feel the same way?" she asks. Fletch explains that since Maeve's death
he'd mostly gotten used to being alone, but then Holly came along, and
yes, it is true love. He vows to love Holly forever & ever. "I just want
her to be happy," says Blake. "Me too," says Fletch. He knows that Blake
hoped Holly could be happy with Rog, but it just didn't work out that way.

A taxi drives up outside, sending them both into a tizzy. Who could it be?
They run to the door & Blake is thrilled to see her Grandma Barbara, but
wonders how she knew about the wedding. It seems Fletcher told her. He
introduces herself & Barbara says she wouldn't have missed Holly's wedding
for anything in the world. She calls Blake "Chrissy" & then corrects
herself -- what is it now? Blair? And you are going to do something with
your hair before the wedding, dear, aren't you? She wonders where Holly is
& they tell her Holly is hiding. Fletch excuses himself & leaves to get
ready. Blake calls Holly & tells her Fletch is gone. As Holly enters,
Barbara chokes up & greets her tearfully. Holly is stunned to see her mom
& gives her a big smile & a hug. Blake joins them.

FLETCH'S HOUSE: Ben obsesses about Fletch's unreliability. "I'm going to
have to have a serious talk with him," he tells Nick. Nick tells Ben to
chill out--they're both dressed & Fletch's clothes are all laid out. Ross
arrives, dressed for the wedding; Blake spilled the beans earlier. He
agrees that getting Rog out of town was the best idea anyone could have
come up with. Nick regrets deceiving Blake, but is glad that Rog is no
doubt turning San Francisco upside down right now. Cue suspenseful music
as a man wearing the "Adam Malek" mask pokes his head through the door.

It's just Fletch's idea of a joke. They recall Rog's chandelier-swinging
entrance at Blake & Phillip's non-wedding, then Nick & Ben get to work
undressing & redressing the groom. (This was pretty funny--they pushed him
down on the bed & did everything in tandem.) Fletch says he's so calm &
collected that he can dress himself, but by this time he's already wearing
a new shirt & pants. Nick & Ross leave & Ben assures Fletch that he has
the ring. He gives his dad an Indian arrowhead for luck & they hug
briefly. Ben leaves & Ed checks in & fills Fletch in on the doings next
door. Lillian is videotaping people's reactions as they learn the real
reason they were invited. Ed buttons Fletch's shirt as he professes his
confidence in the impending union. 35 minutes & counting. Ed asks where
they will live after the wedding. "My house, of course," says Fletch.

HOLLY'S: Holly is still amazed that Fletch "rounded up" her mom. Barbara
admits she didn't talk to Fletch for very long, but he seems like a very
nice man who loves Holly very much. She wonders if it's OK to ask about
Roger. Holly promises to fill her in later. Barbara comments on how warm &
cozy Holly's cottage is. Blake asks where Holly & Fletch will live after
the wedding. "Here, I guess," replies Holly. Barbara fusses over the
creases pressed into Holly's dress & hopes Fletch won't be expecting a
Holly Hausfrau. Holly says Fletch doesn't have outmoded ideas about what
women are or aren't supposed to be. Barbara wants to press the dress, but
there isn't time. She considers going to the church, but Holly asks her to
wait & go with her & Blake. Besides, the wedding's at Ed's. Barb is taken
aback--your first husband's? Holly assures Barb that Ed is her good friend
now. Barbara is accepting.

Holly notices Fletcher's gift & opens it. Inside are a gavel, a ski boot &
a car jack. Blake & Barb are mystified, but Holly says the objects tell
the story of how she & Fletch fell in love. Holly's become much more
sentimental as she's aged. The three women share another group hug.

WSPR: The Coopers arrive & exchange notes with Tangie & Gilly. T says
Cutter is on his way. Dinah barges in & asks when she's supposed to go on.
Gilly explains that because of the emergency, the police have asked them
not to continue the live broadcast. Dinah leaves in a huff. The Coopers
speculate on Brent's condition. Buzz says he's a wounded animal & is
dangerous. A-M wishes he had killed the guy. He wants to take Lucy out of
town, but she refuses to run.

Alan asks Tangie if she's OK. She says Brent doesn't scare her. Alan
thinks Brent is dangerous & vows to stop him.

UNIDENTIFIED BEDROOM: A sweaty Brent lies in bed & watches TV. WSPR is
apparently running a stock documentary on the abuse of women. Brent turns
the TV off in disgust & tosses the remote for good measure. "Anything that
happens, blame them. They asked for it."

WSPR: Cutter arrives & asks for a tape of the phone call. He also asks A-M
for Brent's voice-mail tape from Spaulding. A-M goes to get it. Alan
complains that 2 people have already identified the voice as Brent. Cutter
maintains that it's his investigation & invites Alan to call the
commissioner if he's unhappy. Cutter asks Gilly to get a map of the signal
coverage of WSPR. Tangie says Roger would know that--where is he? No one
knows, says Gilly, and she goes to get the map.

BAUER HOUSE: Eleni & Nadine prepare the food for the "clean-up party", but
Nadine is a nervous wreck because of the Brent situation. She's worried
that Buzz & Frank will get themselves killed trying to play hero. Eleni is
worried too. Ed checks in with the ladies. Nadine asks about the schedule
& says they don't know much about the party. Ed says it will all be
explained soon. The minister arrives & wants to review the service with
Ed. Ed tells him it will be rather unconventional. The rev is kind of
stuffy. He's concerned because there was no rehearsal--unwise. Ed says the
couple has written their own vows & the minister grumbles some more.

Dinah arrives & Ed is glad to see that she's dressed up & won't have to
change for the wedding. Nadine & Eleni register their surprise. "Who's
wedding?" asks Dinah suspiciously.

In the backyard, Ben & Bill light the candles & gossip about girls.
Lillian tells them they're doing a great job & whips out the camcorder.
Ben brags about how he got Rog out of town & Bill jokes that Ben should
have gotten paid for it. Lillian pipes up that lying isn't exactly
honorable work. Nick enters & lauds Lillian for somehow managing to get
dress clothes over to Ed's house for all the guests. (Sounds like she must
have done some breaking & entering herself...) She makes some weird
comment about Nick's suit needing tailoring (inside joke, perhaps?).

The musicians arrive--Hamp & some of his buddies. Dinah tells Lillian that
she doesn't think she's dressed appropriately, so she's going to leave,
but Lillian says Dinah's "prettiest pink dress" is waiting upstairs. Dinah
is stuck & her smile disappears as soon as she's out of Lillian's sight.

Bill answers the door & ducks out of the way when he sees it's Alex. She
says it's obviously a special occasion & asks him to show her to her seat.
Ben says nothing & leads the way. Nick stops his mom. "Whatever it is
that's on your mind, don't." Alex says she's not there to cause trouble.
Nick doesn't believe her & is approaching furious. Alex says Fletch
invited her himself. "Obviously he trusts me more than you do." Nick asks
if she called Rog & asked him to do her dirty work. Alex says Rog is still
hunting for the couple in San Francisco & he deserves it. Nick thinks this
is very unlike his mother. She says he's looking at the brand new Alex &
she & Fletch have come to peace. She accepts his love for Holly. They go
in.

Van sees Dinah in her pink outfit & tells her how lovely she looks. Dinah
accepts the compliment with relative grace & walks off. Matt wishes he &
Van were the ones getting hitched. Van agrees. They kiss & Dinah watches
with disgust.

Ed & the rev go over the location & the rev continues to grumble. Lillian
takes Ed aside to ask how he's holding up. "Better than the minister,"
jokes Ed. Ross greets Barbara, who tells him that Holly & Blake just snuck
upstairs the back way. He says being married to Blake is an adventure.
Nadine drags Eleni into the backyard to watch the ceremony. Eleni protests
that they still have some setting up to do, but Nadine wins.

Fletch greets Hamp & then tells the rev that they're going to "wing it."
The rev finds this highly irregular, but Fletch says he hasn't had a
regular day since he fell in love with Holly. [Poor guy--get him some Ex
Lax, quick!] Ben hands Fletch a note from Holly: "Fletcher, I love you, so
don't panic & don't ad lib anything. Don't forget, we're in this together,
to the end." The band starts playing a cool jazz version of Here Comes the
Bride & Blake enters ahead of Holly & Ed, who stand back for a few moments
while Fletch looks goggle-eyed at his bride. In the audience, Alex looks
resigned & Barbara smiles. Holly joins Fletch at the makeshift altar. The
rev intones the standard "Dearly Beloved" opening.

The rev asks, "Who gives?" & Ed owns up. He lifts Holly's veil, kisses her
cheek & places her hand in Fletch's, then sits between Lill & Barb. The
rev announces that the couple will say their vows.

Holly goes first, the Guiding Light theme tinkling gently in the
background: If thou must love me, let it be for naught but love's sake
only. Do not say, "I love her for her smile, her look, her way of speaking
gently," but love me for love's sake and ever more canst thou love on
through love's eternity.

Fletch takes a couple of deep breaths & begins: Someone married their
everyones, laughed their cryings & did their dance. Sleep, wake, hope, and
then they said their nevers, slept their dream.

Fletch's lip twitches slightly as he smiles at Holly. She smiles back at
him calmly, with a serene look of joy.

BRENT'S BOUDOIR: Brent is jolted awake by a knock at the door. He has a
bandage around his belly, with a fresh bloodstain on it. Cassie enters &
tells him to calm down--who else would it be but her? She knocked because
her hands were full. She asks if he's OK; he says he's fine, but hungry.
She brought him some chicken. She thinks he doesn't look good. She's sure
that he needs professional medical attention. Brent insists that he'll be
fine. He starts to unwrap his bandage while explaining that the bullet
went right through him & a doctor can't do anything to help him. He shows
her the wounds & she thinks the exit wound on his back looks really bad.
Brent doesn't want to hear it. "If I go anywhere near a hospital..."

WSPR: Cutter, on the phone, says Brent must be within WSPR's 100-mile-
radius broadcast range. He wants every hospital, doctor's office & motel
room checked. Buzz knocks on the window & demands round-the-clock
protection for Lucy. A-M wants to take her away on his plane, but Cutter
says she needs to stay in town in order to lure Brent out of hiding.
Cutter arranges another show with Gilly, this time with Lucy as the guest.
Lucy looks scared. Buzz thinks Cutter is crazy & doesn't want Lucy put in
danger & used as bait. Cutter says it's up to Lucy, but it's their best
chance. A-M doesn't like it, & neither does Tangie, but she also thinks
it's the best way to get Brent. She says Brent wants the attention & if he
wanted to get away, he would have done it a long time ago.

Cutter asks if Gilly can do the show tonight. She's not sure & says the
final decision is up to Lucy. Cutter asks Lucy's decision. She thinks it
over & makes up her mind. "I'll do it. Yes. I want to be on the show."

BRENT'S ROOM: Cassie rebandages Brent's wounds as he winces in pain. How
bad does it have to get, she asks. What are you trying to prove? His wound
is still bleeding. Brent says they're trying to kill him & won't stop
until he's dead, but they won't get him, because he still has a few tricks
up his sleeve.

BAUER HOUSE: The rev asks Holly if she'll love, honor, cherish, etc., as
long as they both shall live. Before she has a chance to answer, the
entire assembly of guests gasps. It's Roger. Holly locks eyes with him.
The close-ups get tighter & tighter as we switch from one to the other,
ending with an ECU of Rog's eyes & nose as the screen fades to black.

FASHION NOTES: Considering she had to sneak into people's houses & pick
out entire outfits for them, Lillian did a pretty good job Here's what
everyone wore:

Dinah: very demure in a pale pink, short-sleeved, Chanel-style suit-dress.

Vanessa: non-descript cream-colored suit; she dresses more flashily for
the office

Nadine: You can tell she picked it herself--shimmery, translucent gold
blouse & gold lame pants. The blouse actually looks great with her hair.

Eleni: standard "little black dress"

Alex: lovely gray dress with an white flower print

Barbara: pink-and-purple flowered, tailored dress, well-suited to her
grandmotherly figure.

Blake: Cream-colored knee-length dress with an autumn-colored flower
pattern. Very demure & not really her style. Also, her hair looked like
she styled it with a garden rake.

Holly: A simple soft white (chiffon?) knee-length gown with a matching
shawl & a short, old-fashioned-looking veil with flowered appliques

Matt: Gray jacket, black pants, white collarless shirt, no tie. With his
hair slicked back, & his long sideburns, he bears a passing, yet scary
resemblance to Brent.

Nick & Ben: Gray jackets, cream-colored slacks, white shirts, dark ties

Bill: Blue blazer, light slacks, blue shirt, yellow tie.

Fletcher: Light gray 3-piece suit with a goofy dark gray bowtie.

Ed: Medium-gray suit

Ross: Light gray jacket, cream-colored slacks
