Subject: Update for Tuesday, July 26
Status: R

Update: July 26, 1994
[Be nice to me - this is only the second update I've done. My comments
are in []...]

Reva's Bend: Roger and Holly
Holly is going on and on about Mr. T. not meeting Roger. Roger
says "I lied", I did meet with him last night.

Spaulding Mansion: Fletcher and Alexandra
Alex is going on and on about Nick and Mindy leaving. She says
that Nick is the only one she can depend on. This really hurts
Fletcher and he begins arguing with her.

Springfield Journal: A-M and Tangie.
A-M and Tangie talking. A-M is waiting for an overseas phone call.

Lake: Matt and Vanessa
Matt is fixing the porch and then cools off by pouring water over
	himself. Vanessa watches closely.

< Roll Theme>
Springfield Journal: A-M, Tangie and the phone
His call is connected and he is talking to his mother. He tells her
he was worried about her and Uncle Ed told him where to get in touch
with her. He tells her not to be mad at Uncle Ed. He then asks her
about his father and she gets upset. As he is trying to get her
to settle down, Tangie is standing by the door. He turns around and
sees her and she mouths "I'm sorry". A-M says goodbye to Hope.

Reva's Bend: Holly and Roger
Holly is mad, but says Roger did tell the truth, he's getting better.
It only took him 12 hours to fess up. Maybe if they stay together
for a long time, he might tell her right away. She reminds him that
they will be alright if he tells the truth.

Spaulding Mansion: Alex, Fletcher and Lillian
Fletcher is still upset. Alex apologizes. Lillian walks in and
Fletcher sees that Lil is upset so he leaves. Lil is depressed,
she has a "massive void without a man, who is going to fill it for
	me?"

<fading to>
Lake - Vanessa and Matt
Vanessa is still oogling Matt. He starts talking to her and she says
"I hired you as a carpenter, not as an amateur psychologist". She
tells him it is a wonderful day and he should spend it in the woods
or swimming, etc. He tells her he needs to buy more stuff at the
hardware store and needs money. He follows her into the house and
notices her getting her wallet from under the cushions on the couch.
He makes a comment that she must think he is a "dangerous criminal".

Company - David and Dylan
They are talking about David's next step with Kat and it didn't include
her going off to Europe by herself without him. What is the next
step after going steady. "Does anyone go steady anymore, anyway?"
Dylan was going to surprise Bridget, "For her birthday", David
interrupts. Dylan didn't know that tomorrow is Bridget's birthday.

	- Eve, Ed and Michelle
Bridget is telling them the soup. And she leaves. Michelle asks
about giving Bridget her birthday present and Ed states that it
can't be wrapped. They talk about Michelle going to camp. Bill walks
in and Michelle jumps up. Ed pulls her down and puts his arm around
her. He lets them go out to the porch.

Ed says Eve is quiet. She said she was worried that Michelle
skirt wasn't tied correctly and he said no, that's not it. She
said she was thinking about what he said yesterday. "I said I
loved you". She is worried that she put him in a bind and asked
if he was ready to say it.

Reva's Bend - Roger and Holly
Holly asks why Mr. T. needs Roger. Roger says that he is an
insider and knows how to start the bleeding and how to stop it.
He knows the players, especially Alex. He will need to gain
back Alex's confidence and he needs Holly to find out when
	Alan is being released.

	H: "No more fibs."
R: "Exactly. God, are you cute."

Holly leaves and Roger pulls out a yellow pad with Spaulding
written on it with the names, Alexandra, Alan, Nick and Alan-
Michael written down. He scratches out A-M.

Paper - A-M, Fletcher, Paula and Tangie.
A-M is checking the box. Fletcher makes a comment about A-M
being there and says that he and Holly will buy him out. A-M
says that this is all I have left and to "tell Aunt Alex it
didn't work, I'm not rolling over." He goes over to Paula and
asks about the personal section. She says its not her job, but
it's Tangie's job. Tangie walks in.

Lake - Vanessa and Matt
Vanessa is telling him that it was prudent to hid her wallet,
she was out and didn't know if he was going to be around all the
time. He says he guesses he needed a big sister to show him
the ropes [I guess this means that Bridget isn't his big sister]
Vanessa says "So did I". He asks about her sister who was supposed
to show up later, she says that she made it up, what else could she
do. He says "why didn't you ask questions. To get to know
people you have to take time to get to know them, you know how to
take time - look where you are, take a long look." Vanessa says that
she thinks he is right and has a smile on her face as he leaves.

Paper - A-M, Tangie, Paula and Holly
Tangie is sorting the mail and tells him that they get in mail
and faxes and that she is "really over qualified for this". He
asks about phone responses and she said that they weren't supposed
to but occasionally someone will pull at her heart strings and she
would leave a message in the box, but it doesn't cost anyone. All
the mail is sorted and box 38 is empty. She tells him that he
can watch her again in a couple of hours.

A-M tells Paula to find somewhere else to work, he needs her desk.
Holly yells at him and he says he needs to check efficiency.
Paula tells Tangie that box 39 says that the ad was wrong.
A-M tells Holly, see Tangie is over qualified to do this job,
(Tangie is a little red faced, and says "I didn't say anything")
Holly says that she has something else for Tangie to do. A-M walks
away and Holly tells Tangie to find out when A-M's father is going
	to be released.

Lake - Vanessa and Matt
Matt is sawing while Vanessa walks up. He gives her the change
and receipt. She tells him that she has "lost the art of looking
into souls". He tells her that she needs it back. Vanessa says
"I know about you. You're open and honest.", "You are hard-working
...". He asks her how she can tell that he isn't a back-stabber,
and she says that he isn't a harden criminal. He then asks about
	her husband.

Company - Dylan, David and Bridget.
David is telling Dylan that he remembers her birthday because he
has "a thing about numbers and dates". Bridget didn't want him to
say anything to Dylan. Dylan tries to talk to Bridget, but she
	runs into the kitchen.

	- Ed and Eve
Eve wants to make sure she didn't put him on the spot or force him.
Ed tells her that he said it because he wanted to, he has wanted to
since he first saw her but he was scared. He wanted the first time
	to be romantic.

	-Lillian and Alexandra
They enter Company. They talk about the ladies lunch and how it
has been awhile. Alex tells her that its not the country club, but
is across from the hospital, so they have 10 extra minutes to talk
about their favorite topic, Lizzie. Lillian talked to them a couple
of days ago and Beth let Lizzie talk to Lil. Lizzie won 2 ribbons
in gymnastics [where is this Peace corp job?] They talk about her
printing and they both wish they could see more of her. They both
notice Ed and Eve. Alex rambles on "It's good to see Ed laughing.
Eve seems nice. Mindy thinks she's horrible", (she starts about
Mindy...), "I caught them before an important board meeting with
stupid Marx masks on. It was bizzare. It must be convenient to
	work together............ What's the matter".
		L: "Nothing"
		A: "You and him?"
		L: "Yes"
		A: "When?"
L: "About a year and a half ago, while you were away. I
want to tell you. I woke up with such feelings and
it just happened. I feel so guilty."
A: "GUILT. DON'T you DARE do that to yourself. We
are of a certain age - sex, well the body has no mind
		     when it is concerned."
[Note: I don't think Alex has put two and two together, with
	respect to Ed and Maureen.]

	<Roger walks in>
A: "No mind at all. How can you explain my incarceration
		      with Roger".

Company porch - Michelle and Bill
Michelle tells him that she will miss him and she'll write every day.
Ed and Eve leave to go to the Journal and will pick Michelle up
at Bill's so they can have a little more time together. Michelle
asks why they are going there and Ed tells her it has to do with
	Bridget's birthday.

Company - Bridget and Dylan.
Dylan says that he heard she was having a birthday tomorrow. She
says no big deal. He says that 20 years old is a big deal. She doesn't
	want him to do anything.

	- Alex, Lillian and Roger.
Roger says "What a treat to see two lovely ladies". Alex says
"Speak for yourself". Roger sucks up to both of them, Lillian
looks great, "Alex is that a new hairstyle". Alex asks him about
going to Hong Kong, and says that she knows and she won't let
him undermine her company. They ask what he is doing there.
Bridget brings out Peter and says "Here's your Pop-Pop, give him
a kiss. Peter does and Roger tells them that he is there for
his scheduled visit. [I just love this little boy, his scenes
	with everyone are great.]

Springfield Journal - Fletcher and Holly
Holly tells him to make it quick. He asks about Roger in Hong
Kong, "does it command headlines?" asks Holly. He says all he knows
is that "Dodger" made this trip and Alex gets incoming missiles. She
tells him that going to Hong Kong is not illegal. He tells her
"Don't do this, don't be blind, it will haunt you,... especially
when you wonder if he is cating around on you". Holly pushes
him away and he asks if he "struck a nerve".

	- Tangie
Tangie is on the phone with the warden asking about doing an
article about one of the inmates, Alan Spaulding. She then asks
the date when he will be released. A-M hangs up the phone.

Lake - Vanessa and Matt.
"My husband?", He says she isn't wearing a ring, but he had a feeling.
She says "I was married for a long time [a year is a long time?], but
he got into trouble and is in prison. People say that love dies, but
we shared lives..., but he disappointed me in a way that I was
unprepared for." She says she feels frozen and asks what should she
do. He tells her not to give up. Matt tells her not to "go to the
country club and have a bunch of drinks and talk about how bad men
are. Get on with it". She says that it isn't that simple and walks
	out.

Springfield Journal - Tangie and A-M
Tangie says, "So do it, threaten to fire me again". A-M asks why
she did it and she said that Holly asked her to do it. Maybe she
is writing an article about him. Tangie tells him she could tell Holly
	that she couldn't find out.
		A: "No."
		T: "okay"
		A: "December 11."
		T: "Huh?"
A: "The date, the scheduled date of my father's release."
		T: "Thanks" (she looks confused)
		A: "You're welcome"

	-Holly and Fletcher
Holly tells him that Roger "will never do that and don't imply my
feelings are blind or stupid. I'm not a wimp. Roger tells me
everything". Fletcher tells her to tell "Roger Throwup" to stay
away from Alex. Holly tells him that Roger wants nothing to
do with Alex and slams out.

Company - Lillian and Alex (and Roger and Peter)
Lillian is now rambling on about Lizzie and visiting her. She
wants Alex to join her, but Alex is watching Roger and Peter.
Lillian notices and says that Roger is wonderful with his family.
	Roger and Peter are eating.

	- Bridget and Dylan.
She tells him that it is stupid. She tells him about her
7th birthday when they had great plans, but the car was repo'ed
and her bike had to go back. She also talked about Elvis breaking
into the house on her birthday. She says "I don't want to get
my hopes up. Nothing works out. Life isn't the Brady Bunch".
Dylan: "There's Peter". Bridget smiles and says "but he is from
God." Dylan tells her that he will handle it. She runs off saying
that the "Place doesn't run itself" Dylan lines up David to help
	later.

Springfield Journal
Ed and Eve are placing an ad for Bridget's Birthday.

A-M is checking his box again.

Company
Roger is checking his messages. (He holding Peter). Nothing
from Mr. T. He makes one more call to Holly and finds that
	Alan's release date is 12/11.

Roger walks out and tells Alex that he did go to Hong Kong and
didn't find anything out, and the only thing he brought back was
	a dragon toy for Peter.

Lake - Vanessa and Matt.
Vanessa is sailing... She is saying:
"I don't want to be this person. I hate this person. I don't
want to be stuck like this."

(Matt is on the shore watching her)

"I've got to shake free of this fear [I think this is what she
said]. I've got to let it go. I'll never live again. I want
my life back, feel like I'm living again".

	(Matt starts playing the harmonica)

"I just want to feel like I'm living again."
