Here's a joint update from Marni and me (we do what we must while this
OJ business is going on!):

GUIDING LIGHT TGIF UPDATE -- FRIDAY, July 1, 1994

HOLLY'S HOUSE: Roger and Holly play kissy-face. They have an evening alone
together. Roger's secretary, Bonnie, shows up with the phone # Nick called
that Roger wanted. (Holly left for the store). Roger goes to call the
number, but Holly returns, looking for her keys. She catches Roger, who
hangs up. She wants to know who he's calling.

ALEX'S OFFICE: Nick tells Alex that the letter can be traced back to Hong
Kong. Nick wonders who Alan-Michael knows in Hong Kong.

JENNA'S SUITE: A-M remembers kissing Eleni (its a really neat camera trick.
A-M appears to watch himself and Eleni kiss). Jenna comes in and tells A-M
he can have either Eleni or Spaulding, but not both. Jenna threatens to tell
Eleni about the letter from Frank if A-M takes the Spaulding presidency,
because she doesn't want to be left out in the cold. Jenna asks A-M if he's
even sure that Eleni is serious about breaking up with Frank. Jenna tells
A-M about how Alex hired Buzz to spy on the two of them. A-M leaves to see
if the offer of the presidency is legit or a trick. Jenna gets mad that he is
walking out on her and smashes her champagne glass across the room.

UPSTAIRS HALLWAY OF THE BOARDING HOUSE: Lucy answers the telephone in the
hallway. The telegram company is calling for more information for the bill.
Lucy says this number won't help them because it is a boarding house.
Spinner overhears. Lucy wonders why anyone from Springfield would call to
send a telegram from Vancouver.

B. HOUSE, KITCHEN: Dylan and Bridget cone in, smooching. B stops, and says
they can't do anything because Peter is there. Dylan says its OK. They've
finally NOT planned something, and he wants to be with her. B smiles.
(Commercial break) They kiss. B stops them. Dylan says she's not still
mad at him about the Hart thing. B doesn't care about that. They feel the
same way about each other. B is still concerned that Peter is there. Dylan
tries to convince her that it is OK, "...otherwise there'd be a lot of only
children running around!" (:-D). D tells B she's not on trial anymore--
no one is judging her. B jokes that there won't be a photographer there this
time. D promises to thoroughly check the place out, close the blinds, turn
off the lights. B says not all the lights...

ALEX'S OFFICE: Nick is on the phone giving someone some orders. A-M shows
up and gives Nick a round of applause. He says he's impressed with the show.
Does Alex know Nick runs the company behind her back? Nick says he has his
own company to run. A-M says how could he forget? Nick says "his mother"
is in a meeting, but they're having dinner later if A-M wants to give him a
message. They discuss that Alex has offered A-M the presidency. A-M doesn't
want to accept it if in 6 months Nick will want it and Alex will take it
away from A-M. A-M thinks it is a trick. Nick thinks A-M is using him to
stab Alex in the back. A-M is amused that they seem worried that he doesn't
jump when Alex speaks. Nick says he knows A-M is up to something (he hasn't
sat quietly on his yacht the whole time since he left Spaulding). Nick is
going to find out what it is.

JENNA'S SUITE: Jenna cut her hand when she threw the glass, and tries to
call for a maid, but the line is busy. She opens the door to look for a maid
and sees Eleni sitting in the hallway. Jenna wants to know if E is OK. E is
looking for A-M. J says A-M is gone. E sees J's cut hand and takes her
into the room to bandage her. J questions E some more about sitting out in
the hallway. E says she was just gathering her thoughts, practicing what
she was going to say to A-M. J says it must have been important, can she
give A-M a message? E says just to tell him that any message he might have
gotten (referring to the kissing earlier) was the wrong one. E says she
should be the one to give him the message. J wants to know if it has
anything to do with the letter from Frank. E asks if J knows anything about
the letter. J says nothing more than what E told them, why? E notes that
when J was over at her house around the time the letter disappeared, J was
very angry with her. E wants to know if J took it to get even with her.
J doesn't answer, but asks E if it would have made a difference if she had
gotten the letter. (Commercial break) Eleni says if the letter cleared up
some things it might make a difference. She asks if Jenna knows
anything about the letter. Jenna denies knowing anything. Jenna wants to
know how things really are between her and Frank. Eleni says they are
thinking of getting a divorce. Jenna asks if A-M knows anything about this.
E flashes back to kissing A-M. E gets defensive and wants to know what that
would have to do with her and Frank. J says she knows A-M and Eleni are
good friends and A-M seems to know things about her that others don't. E
says that's true. J gives E some advice from her own experience:
mis-communications at some point aren't enough to finish off a relationship.
E says maybe she's waiting for a magic cure. Eleni wants to know if things
are over between Jenna and Buzz. Jenna says they are, and that's why she
needs a win, something she can count on. That's why she may be impatient
and ruthless about this business -- it's all she has. E says she guesses
she'll feel the same way soon. She always thought Frank would be there for
her, win or lose, but she guesses he won't now. She thinks it will be
frightening. Jenna agrees, but says it can also make you feel very strong.
Jenna says it takes a certain kind of man to give you the freedom to feel that
way, someone like A-M. Eleni defends Frank for a moment, saying that he
is a simple man. E says he may have had a change of heart, but he's not
able to express himself well, just like his father. J: "Oh, he talks himself
ad nauseum. He just doesn't say anything!" E:"Right!" (:-D). J asks if
E loves Frank. E says yes, but maybe love isn't enough. She can't go back
to a marriage where she has to be what he wants her to be. Frank has been
trying to change since they broke up. That's why she wants to read the
letter. E says Frank is a man who says "I love you" through his actions
(instrumental love to all you sociologists out there!), but that sometimes
she needs to hear it. That's why she wants to read the letter to know if
his words are sincere or an attempt to manipulate her. She says she's
confused, and wanders off to another room. Jenna goes to the urn where
she's hidden the letter and takes it out. She looks like she's torn
about what to do with it.

HOLLY'S: Holly tells Rog he acts like she caught him having phone sex!
R says it was a long distance call and didn't want to run up her phone
bill. She wants to know when she's ever complained about the phone bill.
R apologizes, saying old habits die hard. His first impulse was to keep it
to himself. The second was to kick himself. Holly says that's an
improvement, but what's his third impulse? He kisses her dramatically.
She says he's trying to change the subject. Rog says he'll tell her about
the call and if she'll help him, he'll give her paper an exclusive.
He says she just has to call the number and say she's Nick Spaulding's
secretary.

OUTSIDE ALEX'S OFFICE: Alex comes back and overhears Nick and A-M argue
about her, loyalty, and the presidency. Blah, Blah, Blah. (Sorry, but I
find these scenes to be very boring!).

BOARDING HOUSE HALLWAY: Lucy continues to argue with the person from the
telegram company on the phone, as Spinner overhears. David and Kat show up
and see Julie eavesdropping. Lucy asks what was in the telegram and she
might be able to figure out who sent it. Spinner grabs the phone away from
Lucy and tells the person on the phone that no one there knows anything about
a telegram and tries to hang up. David grabs the phone from Julie and finds
out the telegram was from Hart to Bridget. David hangs up and says "I think
the total for your telegram is going to be $16.50, Julie!" Spinner denies
it and walks away. Bridget and Dylan show up. David and Lucy start to tell
them about the telegram but can see Bridget and Dylan want to be alone so
they say it can wait. David, Kat and Lucy leave. Dyl tries to go into his
room, but Bridget wants to check on the baby in her room. He's sound asleep.
Bridget wants a minute to do something. They agree to meet in his room.
Dylan says he thinks she's beautiful. B: "Well, I think you're fairly
gorgeous, too!" They kiss. Dylan makes her promise not to desert him.

HOLLY'S: Rog and Holly set out dinner. Holly wants to know why Rog wants
her to impersonate Nick's secretary. Rog fills her in on Nick's 2 week
trip, the strange phone calls, the letter, etc. Holly's glad he told her
the truth and goes to make the call.

ALEX'S OFFICE: Nick and A-M continue arguing and being suspicious of each
other. Nick promises to destroy A-M if he hurts Alex, which Alex overhears.
Alex hides as A-M leaves. Alex tells Nick she overheard them, and gives
Nick a big hug. Alex is happy about Nick's loyalty. Nick doesn't think
they should give A-M the presidency. Alex says he can have it for now,
because she can always take it back when Nick wants it. Nick says that
he's going to keep trying to link A-M with the letter, but in the
meantime, Alex should keep some eyes in the back of her head.

BOARDING HOUSE: Dylan quickly cleans up his room, while across the
hall Bridget puts on some fancy-looking perfume and fixes her hair. Dylan
dims his lights and makes sure everything is OK. He has lit candles and
put what looks like flower petals on the bed. He opens the door to Bridget,
who smiles at the room. They kiss.

JENNA'S SUITE: Jenna hides the letter in the urn again when she hears
Eleni coming. Eleni tells Jenna she appreciates the hard work Jenna is
doing for the lotion. Eleni want it to succeed for Jenna especially so
she can start with something new. Jenna advises Eleni that she needs a man
who is secure & unafraid, unlike Frank, who likes to know exactly where
to find her. "That doesn't make him a bad man... but perhaps he's the
wrong man." Eleni says the thought of it frightens her. Jenna says she's
probably frightened of being alone, but doubts that Eleni will be alone;
she'll certainly find a man to both love & respect her. Eleni doesn't want to
just give up on her marriage. She asks where she can find AM; Jenna says
he's unreachable for the rest of the day, but she'll tell him everything
they've talked about. Eleni would rather tell AM herself & asks Jenna to
ask AM to call her at home. Eleni leaves. AM phones in. Jenna tells him
that Eleni just left but she had a very important message for him & he
ought to come over & hear it in person.

BOARDINGHOUSE (Dylan's room): In slo-mo, to a romantic ballad, Dylan &
Jet get down to it, finally. They both have these huge grins on their
faces as they kiss & nuzzle on the bed. (Partial song lyrics: "The world
outside will no longer exist; time will abide when we make love like
this. Don't let the past stand in our way; this is a chance we have to
take. Cause this is the night for you & me.") Dylan pushes Jet's dress
off her shoulders.

JENNA'S SUITE: AM arrives & Jenna asks if he's discovered Alex's ulterior
motive in offering him the Spaulding presidency. AM just asks for Eleni's
message. "Well, it seems your charms are working; totally lost on me,
though," Jenna replies. She says Frank & Eleni are talking divorce. AM
seems surprised & thinks he should go talk to Eleni. Jenna advises
restraint & says there's no guarantee that Eleni will turn to AM now.
"She's going to need someone she trusts," says Jenna, waving Frank's
letter, "and being manipulated is something she hates more than anything
in the world."

HOLLY'S COTTAGE: Rog exults over Holly's making an inquiring phone call
for him. Holly says he shouldn't be so surprised; she's no schoolmarm,
she just wants him to include her rather than being secretive. Holly asks
if Rog knows what Nick is on to in Hong Kong; Rog says he hopes to know
when the guy returns Holly's call. They share some wine & Holly sits on
Rog's lap for some kissyface.

DYLAN'S ROOM: Post-first-boink, Jet & Dylan share a little pillow talk.
Bridget loves Dylan's hands -- they're "honest." Dylan likes the way they
fit around Jet's body. He also likes a particular ticklish spot on her
neck. They start giggling, then hear Peter fussing via the baby monitor.
They both go to check on him.

JENNA'S SUITE: Jenna says she hasn't shown Eleni the letter, but AM has
to make up his mind between the presidency & Eleni. AM says if he thought
there was any chance of Frank making Eleni happy or their working things
out, he wouldn't interfere. Jenna says the possibility exists. AM decides
he deserves one more chance to do things right with Eleni. He calls Alex
& turns down her offer as Nick listens. (Alex & Nick think he turned it
down because he wants the whole company.) Jenna is relieved, but worries
that AM might "kill the messenger" if something goes wrong between him &
Eleni. AM assures her that he'll make it work, now that he knows Eleni
wants a divorce from Frank.

DYLAN'S ROOM: Back in bed, Dylan is glad that Jet decided to stay the
night with him. Jet tries to convince herself that Peter is fine in the
other room as long as she can hear him with the monitor: "I want to be a
good mother, but not neurotic. A good mother is a happy mother & a happy
mother is a mother who's in love." "Are you?" asks Dylan. "Yeah," replies
Jet. "I love you, Dylan." He repeats the sentiment & they kiss softly,
then snuggle up, spoon-style, as the screen fades to black.
