Guiding Light Update
  Friday, June 13

      by Vivian

At the boarding house, Matt tries to explain to Hart that that Vanessa is
alive, and he must search for her. Hart is in protective mode as he yells
at Matt for giving Dinah false hope concerning her mother. He doesnt want
to see her hurt again, even if it means coming up against the gorgeously
suited brownie-eater. Matt doesnt give an inch. Hes willing to step on a
few toes if it means getting his Contessa back.

Meanwhile, the ever-present Michael visits his favorite patient, who is
still depressed and back in sweats. Van says she isnt up for physical
therapy today, and isnt receptive when Michael suggests that one persons
information may not tell the whole story. She feels that her family has
moved on with their lives and she shouldnt cause more upset by returning.

Roger is pretty upset with his son-in-law after the grilling he gave
Chrissy. He demands to know how Ross could question Blake as he did. Ross
isnt worried about Blakes feelings because hes too concerned with how
foolish he felt as the result of her outburst. When he tries to leave the
courtroom, Roger grabs his arm and calls him a sanctimonius hypocrite. Ross
doesnt like that, and probably will return his Fathers Day gift now.
Roger accuses Ross of putting his personal feeling ahead of
professionalism, and says he beat Blake up on the stand. His daughter had
the integrity to come forward and was treated badly. Ross takes a shot at
Roger concerning his own integrity, and almost goads him into hitting him.
Blake runs in and defuses the situation. Blake may have grown a backbone
while we werent looking, because she dismisses Rosss cold comments and
tells him that hes going to listen to what she has to say.

In the hallway, Holly sees Rog exit and is disturbed by the memory of
their kiss. Fletch is on her heels, telling her to stay away from her ex.
Reva is smug as she talks things over with Griff at their table. She is
very confident, but Griffin isnt so sure Blakes testimony will do the
job. Annie hasnt confessed to anything. Reva tells him that Josh is
working on that right now.

Annie and Josh have their own chat in an empty courthouse room. Annie
cant understand why her friend would turn on her, and denies everything
that was exposed on the stand. Josh is very calm, as he pledges his
continued support. He reminds her of their wedding vows, and tells her that
he will stand by her no matter what, but she must tell him the truth. Annie
seems to believe him.

Although Vanessa feels that her family has accepted her death, she is
unable to let go of them. Michael wonders how Van would react if her
husband cheated on her. What would she do, and why is this situation any
different than if she were home? Vanessa is determined to be depressed and
replies that she only wants to do what is best for her children.

Matt and Hart continue to argue. Hart encourages Matt to forget about his
search for Vanessa. Nola asks Dinah why Matt is asking about Vanessas
death. When Dinah replies that Matt thinks his wife is alive, Nola looks
quite uncomfortable.

Blake says she had to speak up concerning Annie, even if her timing was
off. Ross is humiliated and wonders why shes trying to ruin his career -
again. Blake brings up their soiree of the previous night, the decisions
they made to stay together, making love, etc. and that she was silent to
protect their relationship. Ross is too angry to listen and walks out.
Blake isnt the puddle of mush she was during the pregnancy lie. She looks
like she made a mistake but has some strength, thank goodness. Ross pushes
through the reporters outside the room as Alan tells someone on the phone
that hell see them in court. Reva is impatient and wants to know how Josh
is doing. Griffin feels the odds of winning the case arent good.

In the empty room, Josh gently pushes Annie to confess, but shes not
budging. She brings up her addiction and how far shes come, and Josh says
that he stood by her then and after her fall. Annie believes that he feels
compassion for her but obviously doesnt want to confess. He prods her
again to talk to him. Annie wants to know if Josh would still love her if
she made a huge mistake. He reassures her, and Annie brings up Reva. Her
bitterness is evident. Michelle interrupts with the message that Marah is
very upset and wants to see her dad. Annie is angry that Josh didnt tell
her that Marah was back and wants to see her. Josh wants Annie to stay in
the room. After he leaves, Annie says to herself that his precious little
Reva will rot in jail. So much for spontaneous confessions.

Judson Garvey is introduced to Reva. Hes the private eye who is helping
on the case. He tells Griffin that he has a break in the case. Griffin
tells Reva they may have a smoking gun. Fletch comforts Blake, saying that
what she did was noble, but Blake isnt so sure. She thinks shes lost Ross.

Nola gets in on the Vanessa-is-alive idea. She doesnt want Matt to pursue
it and the four of them argue. Matt knows that Van didnt die in the car
crash. Nola says she has Vanessas medical records and that she was very
ill. Matt is pretty angry.

Michael makes a little slip when he talks about a former patient. He says
he almost had him admitted to a psychiatric hospital. Van picks up on it
and Michael covers. He encourages her to become part of the world again,
but the self-confident, headstrong head of a large company says she doesnt
have an identity without her family.

Matt is seriously upset that no one told him that Vanessa was ill. Nola
gives him the results of the tests. Matt and Dinah are floored. The
information doesnt make Matt believe that his wife is dead. Instead, he
shares that Tess told him she was seriously ill and didnt want to be a
burden to her family. The others look skeptical.

Griff approaches Ross and says they should put an end to the trial. Ross
declares that there were witnesses to Reva pushing Annie. Griff replies
that Ross is letting his personal problems cloud his judgement. Josh comes
in and says that Marah is here, and that Annie is waiting for him. Reva
shouldnt see Marah now or Annie might suspect.

Alan pays a visit to Annie in the empty room. She seems to be near the
edge. She tells Alan that she almost told Josh everything but will see Reva
go to jail. Alan has cofidence in her. He leaves, and Annie looks
determined as she returns to the courtroom.

Josh talks to Marah in the hallway. Josh explains that Annie has made
mistakes and told lies, one of them being that Reva pushed her down the
stairs. Marah is relieved that her mama is innocent. Josh leaves to get her
a soda (Marah must have picked up the get-me-a-beverage syndrome from
Annie) and Annie sees Marah sitting there.

Nola says that Matt is trying to make Tess be Vanessa because he wants her
to be alive. Dinah thinks that Matt may be onto something, and has hope.
Hart doesnt. Matt runs out to investigate.

Michael keeps on encouraging Vanessa to go home, and she wants to know why
hes always pushing her. He replies that he doesnt want to lose another
person he cares about, and leaves. Vanessa looks surprised.

Griff shows Reva the evidence that the p.i. dug up and Reva is very happy.
Annie says hello to Marah and receives a very cool reception. When Annie
wonders what she and Josh were talking about, getting hysterical and
grabbing her in the process, Reva jumps on her like a mother lion. They
almost start a fist fight but are broken up by Josh (oh darn). Reva
declares that no one touches her children, especially someone like her.
Just then, Fran is dragged into the courthouse. Annie wants to know what
the hell shes doing there. She looks rather psychotic. Friday the 13th is
proving to be an unlucky day for Annie.
