RealFriday Update for June 28, 1996

** Amanda's past is revealed to one and all
** Phil, Alex and Alan discuss the true meaning of being a Spaulding
** Fun was had by one and all at the 5th Street Rally
** Roger has a nice trip.

Prologue, Scene 1
Spaulding Mansion
Alex comes rushing into the Spaulding Den and turns on the television (since
when has there been a tv in there?). Alan, Alex and Phil gather around to
watch the television and are surprised to see AM making a speech. Alan asks
what AM thinks he's doing?

Scene 2
5th Street Rally
AM introduces himself to the boos and hisses from the crowd. He tells of
where he comes from and that he's against what his father and sister are doing.
AM: The Spauldings have to be stopped. And I'm the one to do it.
Amanda looks on with smoldering, worried eyes.

Scene 3
Roger's Apartment
Frank asks Roger if he used the drug to drug his son Hart. Roger grabs the
bottle, claiming it's water and drinks the whole thing. Cleary, Frank and
Dinah freak out! Roger thinks they are sitting him up, because he remembers
Hart telling him that he switched the bottle in the apartment with water.
Cleary explains that they had the fluid in that bottle analyzed more than
once. Roger's smile fades to fear.

ROLL CREDITS

Act 1, Scene 1
Roger's
Dinah wants to know why Roger did that. Roger states that he knows for the
fact that it was water because of Hart. Frank and Cleary jumps on him about
Hart, but Dinah reminds them that they need to get Roger to the hospital.
Roger thinks Cleary is setting him up and insists it's water. In
mid-argument with Dinah, Roger stops and starts staring at the mask.
Suddenly, it comes out from the wall and begins to dance for him (with
really great, weird, red lighting). Dinah wants to know what is it. Roger
figures it out that he drank Lonatrat (sp? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
Bueller?) and runs from room, inducing vomiting.

Scene 2
Spaulding
Phil, Alex and Alan are glued to the tv watching AM. Alex is nervous,
wanting to know where AM is going with his speech. Phillip says he knows,
and so does Alan.

Scene 3
Rally
AM explains his ties to 5th Street through Lucy, Buzz's daughter. He thinks
5th Street is a model of a true neighborhood (with prostitutes and all?).
He thinks the AS plan looks good on paper, and says he supported the project
at first, over Lucy's objections. Am goes on to admit he was wrong. Am
claims that Alan and Amanda lied. All they want to do is make money. AM
goes on to explain the problems between Buzz and Alan, with Alan purchasing
the loan of the dinner and calling on that loan. AM issues a warning to
those who are looking to sell to AS, and he warns the potential investors as
well; he states that his sister has had "illegal business dealings" in the
past. He explains that Buzz was going to talk about this, and that he had
no choice as the Spauldings had him backed into a corner.
AM: I'm ashamed at what they've done. And I'm angry on how they've gone
about it. But they have to be stopped. And nothing stops a Spaulding like
the Truth.
Amanda: Alan-Michael DON'T!!!!!!
AM goes on to tell everyone about Mandy Harper, who is his sister. Amanda
says it's a lie.

Act II, Scene 1
Rally
Amanda rushes to the stage, asking AM why he's doing this. AM counters,
while covering the mike, that they didn't give him any choice. Amanda
announces to everyone that it's all a lie. Needless to say, the press jump
right on it (a good depiction of the press, way to go GL): Who were your
biggest clients? Did you ever fill in for one of your girls? Amanda
threatens a slander suit for anyone who calls her a prostitute (Go, Mandy!).
Fletcher asks Amanda to deny running a prostitution ring. Of course, Mandy
does. Fletcher then asks why AM would say so? Mandy suggest it's to
placate his latest wife (ouch! You go, girl!). She then goes on to tell
every that Lucy came from 5th Street and probably married up to get out.
(Boy, Lucy is in shock right now. And gee, wasn't she trying to stop
everyone from ratting on Mandy earlier? Lucy strikes again!) She goes on
to say that the 5th Street neighborhood is "dead" and lying about her isn't
going to change that. Fletcher asks for proof. AM looks and Vanessa and
Matt, and claims to have none. Mandy jumps right on it, but Reva counters
with the fact that her father spoke to one of Mandy's women, and the press
could check with him. Mandy immediately begins to attack Hawk, saying that
he lives off Reva and would probably do anything she said when Matt rushes
the stage (What? Is Griffen the only one with security down there?). Matt
verifies that AM is telling the truth. Amanda begs him not do this. Matt
confesses to being one of Mandy's studs (Woo-woo! I wonder how much HE went
for?).

Scene 2
Spauldings
Alan asks Phillip to turn the tv down, he's had enough. This queue's Alex
to begin the "I told you so about Amanda" speech. Alex sets Phillip up with
the line of the day when she becomes upset about what her friends are going
to think (blaming it all on Alan, of course).
Phillip: Oh, relax, Aunt Alex. We're Spauldings. How many friends have we got?
Alex is still going on, and Phillip reminds her that the Chamberlains got
dragged into the mud with them. Alex thinks Henry is the lucky one, and
Phillip is amazed on how she thinks. Alan wishes Matt had kept his mouth
shut. The phone rings, Alex answers in an Irish accent claiming to the
maid, playing up the Spauldings. When Alex begins praising her family too
much, she gets hung up upon. Alex is worried about the press. Alan gets
the next call. Alan introduces himself, backs up what AM said, defends
Mandy a little, and states that it's his only statement. After hanging up
the phone, he unplugs it, claiming that's how they are going to handle the
press. Phillip is laughing at this point, and Alan wants to know why.
Phillip goes on to say that he thinks it's funny how Alan was claiming
earlier, before Alex came running in like "Chicken Little", than no one in
the family could have set him up for the bombing. Alan concurs that
judgement, and Phillip calls his attention to the fact that AM just sold his
sister up the river.
Phillip: When a member of this family is threatened, there is nothing they
won't do. Nothing.

Scene 3
Ceder's Emergency Room
The ambulance guys wheel a sweating, mumbling Roger in on a stretcher, with
Dinah, Frank and Cleary in tow. Rick says the EMT called in advanced that
is was a Drug Overdose. Frank goes on to explain the drug and what it does.
Dinah plays at being "good wife" and asks Rick to help Roger. Cleary goes
on to tell Rick that Roger induced vomiting once he realizes what he had
done. Roger mumbles on about how it was water, and that someone had to
switch it, but it couldn't have been Hart. Dinah tries to soothe him, to
keep him from figuring it out, but Roger does. And Roger gets to do what
I'm sure many of you have wanted to do: once Roger figures out it couldn't
have been Hart, he looks at Dinah, knowing it had to do be her, and starts
strangling her!

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Act III, Scene 1
Cedar's
It takes Frank, Cleary, Rick and the two EMT to do pry Roger off of Dinah,
and everyone goes kazoo! Dinah his yelling at Roger to do calm down, Frank
and Cleary are exchanging restraint techniques and Rick it trying to do get
a sedative ordered. Once Roger relaxes, he collapses. Rick orders for a
Cardiac Monitor in the ER Room, and orders everyone to do get Roger on the
stretcher. Once they are able to do get him up, Rick just wants to do get
him into ER, and orders everyone to do walk him in. At the door, Roger
snaps, claiming to do hear music, Mozart. He asks Cleary to do dance, but
she is too stunned. Then he asks Frank.
Roger: I'll even let you lead. (Runner up for Line Of The Day)
Frank is too stiff to do dance, but counters with his dance card if filled.
Rick says he'll dance with him, and dances him into the ER (Well, beats
dancing by yourself, eh, Rick?). Dinah calls Hart during the festivities.

Scene 2
Spauldings
Alan thinks Phillip is wrong. That what happened to do Phillip and what
happened to do Amanda are completely different. Phillip doesn't see the
difference. If AM is capable of setting up Amanda to do take a fall, then
he's certainly capable of setting Phillip to do take the fall for the bombing.
Alan: You're mixing apples and oranges.
Alex: More like Bombs and Brothels (Line of the Day contestant).
Alan thinks if Amanda hadn't done anything wrong in the first place, AM
could not have exposed her. AM is only telling the truth. Phillip is
amazed at his logic, and comments on how Alan can justify anything. They
turn back towards the tv when the action appears to do be heating up.

Scene 3
Unknown Office
Two guys a exchanging lunch over their desks while the Rally is playing on
tv. Amanda first claims that Matt is lying because she spurned his
advances. Matt gives more info about her past, she then claims he was on
drugs. The one guy asks what the woman's name was, and the other guys
writes down the two names, and claims to do "have a live on here."

Scene 4
Rally
Amanda claims that Matt tried to do sell himself to do her one night out in
California. Matt threatens to do call the old gang to do verify everything
he's just said. Mandy claims he is on drugs. Matt denies this, though
there were times back then that he wished he was doing drugs to do help him
forget what he was doing. Then Matt says that he's going to do regret what
he did for the rest of his life. Amanda tells the press to do go find a
"legitimate news story and go to do hell" before storming off the scene.
The press then turn on Matt asking if Vanessa married him because it was
cheaper than having to do pay him by the hour. Fletcher tells him to do
knock it off, but Matt is all ready at the guys throat. Vanessa and
Fletcher pull him off, and Vanessa berates the press for asking that
question. She states that she's married to do Matt, that she loves him and
that they are in it together.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Act IV, Scene 1
Rally
Vanessa goes on to do explain more about Amanda, how she lured people in,
and blackmailed them to do keep them from leaving. She goes on to do say
that Matt was lucky because he left anyway. Fletcher asks how she felt when
she found out about Matt. Vanessa says they worked it out. Fletcher points
out that prostitution is illegal in CA, and he want's to do know what Van
and Matt are going to do to do if they try to do come for him. They don't
know, but they'll handle it together. Buzz announce that the shows over,
and reminds everyone what the Rally was about, exposing AS for what they
really are: a con-game. Fletcher compliments Matt and Vanessa on their
courage, and Vanessa points out that sticking by someone is what marriage is
all about. Fletcher says he has to do run this story in the paper, but
Vanessa makes him promises to do be fair. Josh and Annie come over to do
check on them, and Vanessa goes off, and faints.

Scene 2
Spauldings
Amanda comes home. Phillip turns off the television
Phillip: So much for family programming (Line of the Day Contestant #2).
Amanda goes after Alan, and Alan berates her not handling the situation with
grace and dignity. Amanda says she was scared, and Alan reminds her that
she should never show her fear and that he's disgusted by her and ashamed of
her (Cry Uncle, Amanda!) Amanda slips into little girl mode and begs a
leaving Alan to do forgive her. Alex slinks off to do bed before Amanda can
recover from Alan's spurning. Phillip tells Amanda he's going to do take
her out for a drink. She doesn't trust him until he offers to pay.
Amanda: Musical Words to a Madam's ears. Let's go (Line of the Day
Contestant #3).

Scene 3
Ceder's
Dinah is muttering to herself as Frank and Cleary come over. They press her
to find out why Roger had the drug. Dinah professes ignorance (gee, that's
original. I'm surprised they don't believe that coming out of Dinah). Rick
comes out and tells Dinah, who has cleverly moved away from the cops, that
he thinks they got the drug out of his system before too much damage is
done. Rick wants to keep Roger overnight for observation. Rick also goes
on to tell Dinah that he needs to file a report when a patient comes in with
a D.O. and Rick needs to know if he deliberately tried to hurt himself (Gee,
Rick, he's married to Dinah, what do you think?). Dinah says no, it was an
accident. Frank and Cleary corner Dinah again and ask her what Roger was
doing with the drug and did he use it on Hart. Dinah says she doesn't know
why Roger has the drug, and that he would be some kind of monster to use it
on his own son. At this point, the wheel an exhausted Roger out, tethered
to the gurney. Rick tells Dinah that he's a potential danger to him and
her. Dinah wants to stay with him. Rick tells her officially, his answer
is no. But unofficially, he doesn't think Roger is a danger since he'll be
restrained. Frank thinks something funny is going on with Roger, Dinah and
Hart and he's going to find out. Rick calls Blake with the news of her father.

Scene4
Ceder's Hallway
Orderlies wheel Roger, singing some song about Daisies, through as Dinah
stops for a glass of water. As she retrieves it from the fountain, and arm
comes around her and she is dragged into a storage closest. Surprise,
surprise, it's Hart, in hospital scrubs (my, pink is his color, isn't it?).
The two gaze lovingly at each other (insert your own acking noise here, if
so desired).

COMERCIAL BREAK

Act V Scene 1
Ceder's Storage Closest
Hart and Dinah smooch hello. Hart doesn't believe that Roger took the drug.
Dinah tells him Roger thought it was water. He wants to know how Roger got
it. Dinah says the police had it and Roger grabbed it from them. Hart
wants to know how the police got it. Dinah explains she planted in the
apartment for the police to find when they searched the place. Hart accuses
Dinah of planning this. Dinah says she wanted the police to find the drug,
not for Roger to drink it. Hart reminds her that at one time she wanted to
give the drug to Roger. Dinah swears to Hart that she did not mean fo
rRoger to drink the stupid drug. Hart believes her. But Hart reminds Dinah
that he wants Roger aware of what's happening to him when it's happening.
Dinah informs him that Rick said Roger should have a full recovery. Hart
wants to check for himself (run Hart-sly-smile-and-Dinah-smirt.exe).

Scene 2
Country Club Bar (man, this set has been around FOREVER, and it's never
changed, has it?)
Amanda and Phillip are at their own table, and Amanda is pounding down the
drinks (Go, Mandy!). Everyone in the room is pointing and whispering about
Amanda. Phillip dpretends not to notice as he watches Amanda. Amanda
comments that after a few more drinks, she won't care that people are
talking about her. Phillip doesn't want her to "zone out" on him, he wants
to talk. Amanda accusses Phillip of not being on her side, and Phillip
states that just because he's not on her side does not mean he's against
her. Amanda sarcastically states that neutrality is not a family trait,
"the handbook says so." Phillip reminds her he's adopted. Phillip says
they should form their own Blacksheep club, and Amanda screams at people
staring at her. Amanda asks Phillip if he doesn't approve of her "dealings"
in Malibu, and Phillip tells her he's in no position to judge. That' he's
done some things in his life he hopes he won't regret forever. Amanda
thinks he got off light compared to her. Phillip gets welcomed back with
open arms, while she gets thrown to the wolves. She asks what she has to do
to get her Father's approval. Phillip counters with "Be smarter." Phillip
explains to Amanda that Alan thinks that she got what she deserved. And
Amanda thinks that Neil was right for setting Phillip up.

Scene 3
Rally
Everyone gathers around a colapsed Vanessa. Annie and Fletcher fight off
the press to give her air and Josh and Matt help her to her feet. Vanessa
comments that she didn't eat all day and wants to go home. Protectively,
Matt leads her from the rally. Reva feels guilty about Vanessa, and Buzz
thought that Reva didn't like her.
Reva: "I don't. But that doesn't mean I want to beat her up" (since when
Reva?).
Buzz says that Vanessa and Matt will be fine. Reva and Buzz hope that this
was enough to stop AS. Josh and Annie look uncomfortable and leave as Buzz
and Reva kiss.

Scene 4
Roger's Hospital Room
Roger struggles to get out of the restraints (yum!) as Dinah plays the good
wife routine. Roger demands to know how the drug got into the bottle.
Dinah just blathers on, ignoring his demands. Roger wants Dinah to get him
out of the restraints, but Dinah leaves to find a nurse to get her a cot.
She turns out the lights as she leaves. Roger screams for help and for
Dinah when a shadowy figures appears. Roger thinks it's a doctor, until the
mask is let down and he sees Hart.

COMMERCIAL BREAK

Act VI Scene 1
Country Club Bar
Phillip asks Amanda if she's going to the Olympics in Atlanta. Amanda's
confused.
Phillip: "Comparing your problems in the flesh trade with me getting set up
for a bombing is a leap worthy of a gold metal."
Amanda apologizes. She's upset because Phillip and AM have cut Alan off at
the knees and Alan has forgiven them, yet he won't forgive her. Phillip
reminds her that life is not fair--first rule of the handbook. AM and Lucy
walk in at the other side of the bar. Lucy is upset that about the things
that happened today, and AM is being pretty caliver about it all, which
bothers Lucy more. AM notices Phillip and Amanda.

Scene 2
Mysterious Office
The guys throw out their dinner leftovers, and one asks the other if he
found anything. Guy #2 claims to "have gone back as far as 1990" and didn't
find any California or Ferderal tax returns filed by an Amanda Spaulding or
Mandy Harper. They rejoice that they've got one, and Guy #1 walks over to a
poster of Uncle Sam with IRS listed at the bottom.

Scene 3
Rally
The streets are finally empty, and Reva and Buzz reflex on the day. Buzz
asks Reva to dance, and they dance in the middle of the street. Alan walks
up and watches as REVA AND BUZZ KISS AND GROPE IN THE MIDDLE OF 5TH STREET!

Scene 4
Roger's Room
Roger begins to freak at the sight of Hart and screams "help" over and over.
The lights come on in the room and Blake comes running in. Blake wants to
know what Hart is doing there.
Roger: You see him too?
