Please bear with me, this is my first update. And I missed part of the
opening due to registering my child at school:

Update for RealFriday, June 15, 1996:

Act I, Scene 1
Hart's Hotel Room
Roger is turning over a package in a white envelop when Dinah startles him.
Roger: "What the Hell are you doing!"
Dinah: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you!"
Roger: "Don't you ever sneak up on me like that again! What are you doing
here, spying on me anyways!"
Dinah goes into her "faith wife" routine to remind Roger about the Pierson
Award for WSPR.
"I don't care about that," Roger grumbles.
"Well you should!"
Dinah and Roger apologize to each other, and Roger shows Dinah the package.
"My son knew he was going to die." Dinah doesn't think Roger should open it.
"Of course I am." Dinah reminds him about a half a dozen times that Roger
killed his own son.

Scene 2
Dr. Grant's Office
Gilly tells her father that Vivian made up the "Griffen made a pass at me"
story. Dr. Grant is not buying it--it doesn't make sense to him. Gilly
says Vivian can explain it, he should ask her.
Gilly: "I think that mother has to take the blame for this."
Dr Grant: "You're saying your mother is capable of concocting a terrible
lie, which makes not sense...."
Gilly: "Daddy, if Griffen says he did not come onto her, then he did not."
Dr. Grant thinks Gilly is believing Griffen because of her involvement with
him, and Gilly counters with "there are just something you don't understand
about Mother."
"Now that just doesn't make any sense. What are you not telling me?" Dr.
Grant asks his daughter. Gilly looks scared.

Scene 3
Spaulding Den
Griffen questions Vivian about the "Spy of Fifth Street," but Alan covers
for her.
Reva:" Wait, Wait! We weren't even going to talk about her when we came in
here."
Vivian makes up an excuse about hitting Alan up for her program at Cedars,
and Alan concurs. Griffen lets it slide, but he keeps his eyes on Vivian
like he's not buying her excuse. Alan attempts to excuse them all, but Buzz
refuses to budge. Reva mentions Abigail, and Alan laughs.

Scene 4
Alley behind bar
Bandana man has managed to strip off Dahlia's top (woo-hoo, white bra! Very
nice!) And makes some comment about Dahlia making him "work for it" and it
being some "new technique." Marcus shows up, and in one SWIFT move, pulls
Bandana man off Dahlia and covers Dahlia with his coat.
Bandana man: "Hey, man! She was workin'! I was payin' for it! You ain't
got no right!"
Marcus does a great roundhouse backhand to the jaw and down he goes! Marcus
pulls him up, slams him into the wall and punches him in the stomach.
Marcus: "Did you hear what she said? Did you?"
Bandana Man: "Yeah, no!"
Marcus: "It doesn't matter what she's wearing, it's what she said! Now get
out!" Marcus throws the Man out and turns around to Dahlia, but she's gone!
(But she was dumb enough to leave her purse behind)

(COMMERCIAL BREAK)

Act II, Scene 1,
Alley behind bar
Marcus wanders, looking for Dalhia, and finds her behind a pile of garbage
bags.
Marcus: "You okay? What's wrong with you?"
Marcus wants to know why she came down to the bar dressed like she was.
Dalhia: "Where else would a daughter of a whore be?"
Marcus blames himself.

Act II, Scene 2,
Spaulding Den
Alan: "Why? Why would I need a spy, and of all people, Abigail Bloom? Give
me a break, Reva!"
Alan thinks the Diner has become a "snakepit," and Griffen corrects him by
saying that they don't think Abigail gave Alan the information
intentionally. Buzz admits about mentioning the Notary deadline in front of
Abigail. Alan is insulted, "Don't you think I could have found that error
myself?" Griffen doesn't think so because their loophole was discovered at
the "11th hour." Vivian attempt not to look too guilty. Alan congratulates
Reva and Buzz that they sold Griffen on their "hysterical paranoia." Vivian
excuses herself. Alan apologizes for the intrusion. Griffen never takes
his suspicious eyes off her as she leaves.

Scene 3,
Hart's Hotel Room
Dinah wants Roger to get rid of the package, afraid it might lead the cops
to him. Roger counters by saying it was an accident.
Dinah: "I know, Roger, but you had the gun pointing right at him. And
everyone in town knows how you've been ranting and raving..."
Roger: "I didn't mean it! I DIDN'T MEAN IT!"
Dinah: "It doesn't matter what you said. You said some pretty incriminating
things, you know."
Dinah tries to grab the package, but Roger opens it to find a small tape
recorder with a note attached, saying, "To be played after my death." Roger
debates playing it and finally asks Dinah to. Dinah, of course, doesn't
want to, but finally does, mentioning his fragile state of mind again. It's
Hart's last will and testament.
Roger: (whispered) "Oh Dear God!"

(COMMERCIAL)

Act III, Scene 1
Hart's Hotel Room
On the tape, Hart mentions he doesn't believe in suicide, and that if he's
dead, that his father is a strong possibility as the person who killed him.
Hart goes on to mention that he's afraid that Roger's going to kill him
(gee, that wasn't TOO incriminating, was it?). But Hart goes on to say that
it was probably his fault--that he'd been trying to pay Roger back.
Hart: (on tape) "It wasn't his fault I didn't have a father going up. He
didn't even know me until a couple years ago (Boy, time sure flies when
you're having fun). Ho was he to know the man he bested in business was my
Grandfather? It's not his fault Grandfather died, but I but blames Roger
for all of it. He kept asking for a chance to get to know him but I
couldn't do it. I wouldn't do it."
Roger goes through the whole gambit of emotions here: from love, to loss, to
guilt. Heck, Dinah even looks honestly guilty here (is that possible?).
Hart goes on to confess to the authorities that he drove Roger to do what he
did. He leaves everything to Roger, as sole trustee for Peter. Dinah tells
Roger he has to show up for the Humanitarian award, or "people will get
suspicious." She pushes him out the door. Just as they are leaving, the
motel managers shows up with cleaning for Hart.
Roger: "Those were the clothes he was wearing."

Scene 2
Alley
Dahlia: "I don't want you taking the blame for this!"
Dahlia thinks Marcus did the right thing by telling her the truth, so she
could find out who she is. Dahlia rallies on and on about trying to please
her mother. Marcus tells her that it isn't her fault. That her and her
mother are two different people.
Marcus: "You're wonderful. You're beautiful, inside and out. You are the
same person you were when I first met you, do you hear me? Nothing has
changed!"
Dahlia doesn't listen and doesn't want Marcus' help. She walks away from
his open, outstretched hand (with his coat on, I may add). Marcus retrieves
the left purse, and turns to go, and finds Dalhia waiting for him in the alley.

Scene 3
Spaulding's Den
Griffen threatens Alan before leaving, saying he going to cost Advantage
System more money than it ever dreamed in purchasing 5th Street. Alan
suggests that Reva and Buzz cut their losses now. Buzz informs Alan that
they aren't going to loose, he is. Buzz compares Alan to a doughnut:
"You're big on the outside, but you gotta big hole on the inside." Reva and
Buzz pick at Alan's loneliness. Alan orders them out. Buzz attacks Alan's
manhood. Alan throws Buzz over a chair. (Men, so predicable!) Reva runs
to Buzz's side. Now, I didn't know how going over a soft, comfy chair onto
the Spaulding expensive floor can really damage anyone, but Buzz is out cold.

(COMMERCIAL)

Act IV, Scene 1
Spaulding's Den
Reva: "Buzz!"
Buzz: (weakly) "Don't touch me."
Reva: "Buzz, you're scaring me!"
Alan: (towering over Buzz and Reva) "He doesn't scare me."
Buzz claims to not be able to feel his legs, but Alan doesn't buy the act.
Buzz wants an ambulance, and Alan refuses to call 911. Reva orders Alan to
call an ambulance and threatens to call Ross as soon as they get to the
hospital. Alan begins counting down from them to get out.
Buzz: "I may have lost the feeling in my legs, (pointing at Alan) BUT YOU
ARE SCREWED!"

Scene 2,
Hart's
Roger grabs the dry-cleaning going on and on about "these are the clothes."
He removes the dry-cleaning bag to discover a bullet hole in the shirt.
Dinah reprimands him for acting guilty. Roger goes on about that the
clothes are the ones Hart was wearing when Roger shot him. Dinah says it's
impossible since they buried Hart in those clothes.
Dinah: "He's dead, Roger. Hart is dead."
Dinah gathers up the evidence (the clothes and the tape recorder) and pushes
Roger out to the door, smiling slyly to herself.

Scene 3,
Griffen's hotel room
Griffen opens the door to find Vivian waiting for him on the bed, naked,
wrapped his bath robe. Griffen thought he made himself clear earlier, and
Vivian claims she can't give him up.

Scene 4,
Dr. Grant's Office (I was wondering when we would be coming back here)
Dr. Grant thinks that Gilly is defending Griffen because she's in love with
him. Gilly claims that's not why she's there. Of course, Dr. Grant's
beeper goes off, reminding him he needs to be in surgery. Before he leaves,
Dr. Grant states, "I believe your mother. And so should you."
Gilly flashes back to Griffin turning her down as his press secretary, when
she finds a picture of her mother in Dr. King's book.
Gilly: "I knew there was another reason why my job was going to fall
through. This is all about my mother, isn't it?"
The phone ringing brings Gilly back to the present where she answers it.
Taking a message, she finds a letter with Advantage Systems letterhead. She
grabs it and heads out of the office (hope the message wasn't TOO important!).

Scene 5,
Reardon Kitchen
Marcus walks in, calling "Hello?" When no one answers, he brings Dalhia in.
He tries to help her down the stairs, she refuses. He pulls a chair out for
her at the kitchen table, she sits in another. Dalhia wonders how her
mother could do "that." She goes on about how scared she was and how that
man had no right to touch her like that. Marcus agrees. Nola comes in, and
Marcus' helps her with her grocery bags. Dahlia looks VERY uncomfortable.
Marcus asks Nola if he could find something "warmer" for Dalhia to wear. In
her usual, unassuming, nice way, Nola agrees. After they leave, Marcus
looks torn up and just about ready to cry (Nice job, Kevin!).

(COMMERCIAL -- enough already!)

Act V, Scene 1
Bridget's Room
Dalhia thanks "Ms. Chamberlain", and Nola asks her to call her Nola. Nola
offers that Dalhia can talk about anything (Nola very politely sits on the
bed facing the wall while Dalhia changes). Of course, Dalhia can't talk.
Nola makes a comment about how this room to be hers, her prison. And how
she used to pretend to be to other people--probably because she didn't like
herself very much. Dalhia wanted to know if it helped.
Nola: "Yeah it did, actually. Then I woke up and started wondering when I
was going to start living the kind of life I wanted to live."
Dalhia wanted to know if Nola did more than just "pretend"; if she did
things which could have gotten her into trouble.
Nola: "Are you kidding?"
Nola gets Dalhia to talk about what happened, and how she thought she was
suppose to be in the bar. Nola reminds Dalhia that she's a good kid, and
Marcus knows that too. Dalhia thinks Marcus only sees what he wants to, and
not who she really is. And she doesn't want to drag him down. Nola makes
Dalhia promise not to go to the bar to do "that" anymore, and Dalhia agrees.

Scene 2
Spaulding's
Reva is still asking Alan to call 911. Alan is still refusing. Alan sticks
a long pin he retrieved from the desk into BOTH of Buzz legs. Buzz displays
no sense of pain from this, and Reva just about goes through the roof! Alan
finally agrees to call, while Buzz makes of list of things he wants in his
lawsuit: the house, the plane, everything. Reva tries to shush him up, and
when Alan is on the phone, Buzz gives her a raspberry! Alan looks worried
on the phone for a moment, but hangs up before talking to anyone.

Scene 3
Griffen's Hotel Room
Griffen: "I'm through sneaking around Vivian. I told'cha that."
Vivian tries to cover her stammering at Alan's by saying she was swept by
the same emotions she first felt when she was first introduced to him.
Griffen and Vivian banter back and forth about that meeting, all the while
Vivian is trying to undress Griffen. Griffen escapes once and attempts to
redress, but Vivian captures him again by agreeing to tell Charles and
everyone the truth, "but the timing has to be right. You do understand
that, don't you?" They kiss passionately as Gilly knocks on Griffen's door.

Epilogue
Reardon kitchen
Wiping the tears away, Marcus tells Dalhia how great she looks. Nola
informs Marcus that she knows what happened, and made Dalhia promise "not to
pull a stunt like that again." Marcus thanks Nola. Nola reminds Dalhia
that she's a good kid. Marcus offers to take her home, but Dalhia's not
ready for that. Nola offers for her to nap there, and Marcus offers his
room. Marcus and Dalhia head upstairs as Nola unpacks her groceries. There
is a knock at the door, and Nola discovers it's Quint!

Griffen's Hotel Room
Griffen opens the door to let Gilly in (his shirt got buttoned in amazing
time). Gilly apologies for not calling first and shows Griffen the letter
she found on Dr. Grant's desk. Griffen goes over and opens the door to the
bathroom on Vivian (who dressed with astonishing speed) and asks for an
explanation about the letter.

Spaulding's
Reva wants to know why Alan hasn't called for an ambulance. She gets up to
go over to the phone when Alan asks Buzz, "So, it's a sever accident, eh,
Buzz?" and kisses Reva!
