Diner
Frank catches Dahlia as she's about to leave. Frank tells her that he
cares about her, that he promised her mother that he'd take care of her.
"Promises to whores don't count", Dahlia replies.

Griffin's room
Marcus arrives, and Griffin apologizes to him about Dahlia. Marcus knows
Griffin's not really sorry - he just wants Marcus to keep his mouth shut
about Griffin's affair with Charles Grant's wife.

Hospital Room, Cedars
Charles is concerned about Vivian - she's edgy. Vivian covers, says something
about overdue bills, and she and Charles kiss. They are interrupted by
Michelle, followed by Fletcher, Holly and Meg. Charles departs. Vivian asks
Fletcher and Holly if they're OK. They reply that they're scared.

Thorpe Penthouse
Dinah watches Roger crouched on the floor staring at a picture of Hart,
re-living the shooting.

Opening Credits...

Roger is going over the edge. Dinah "comforts" him, reminding him that he
killed Hart, and that he's going crazy. Roger remembers the first time he
killed someone - a double agent in Berlin - the sky was blue, the
wildflowers were blooming, they went rock climbing. Roger called the man by
his German agent name, then kicked him off the rocks. Roger can still hear
his scream as he fell. Dinah reminds him again that he killed Hart. Roger
leaves the room screaming, and Dinah is pleased.

Boardinghouse
Hart and Bridget are talking outside on the porch. Bridget wants to know
what's going on. Hart assures her that everything's OK, that he's OK, no
matter what she might hear. Peter walks up, and he and Hart hug.

Hospital Room, Cedars
Fletcher and Holly worry that these tests will find some new problem for
Meg to deal with. Vivian reassures them, and takes Meg down the hall for the
tests.

Griffin's room
Griffin tries to deny his affair with Vivian. Marcus isn't buying it. Marcus
reviews what he knows: Griffin is definitely having an affair. He's
admitted that much. Vivian runs into Marcus at Griffin's room, calls him
"Dahling", not realizing that Marcus isn't Griffin. Marcus just drew the
logical conclusion. Griffin wants to know what Marcus plans to do with
this information. Marcus lays into Griffin about being a hypocrite.
Griffin yelled at Marcus about telling Dahlia the truth, yet he's sleeping
with another man's wife. Griffin tells Marcus that he loves Vivian - he
always has. Marcus wonders whether Vivian's the reason Griffin and his mom
split. Griffin says no, he and Vivian just got back together. But it was
like they were never apart. "We are meant to be together". Marcus
replies, "Dr. Grant is going to be pretty bummed. Why don't you ask him
who his wife should be with?" Griffin tries to explain further, but Marcus
leaves. His parting shot, "You just lost every right you had to preach to
me."

Diner
"Can you keep the lecture short?", Dahlia asks. Frank and Eleni try again
to explain to Dahlia about her mother - how much she lover Dahlia and was
just trying to protect her.

Boardinghouse
Peter and Hart are playing with a truck. Hart compliments Bridget about
what a good mom she is, and how much he owes her. Peter wanders off and
brings back a flower for Bridget, then more for Hart. Bridget sends Peter
inside to get his other truck, and to put the flowers in a vase. Bridget
and Hart talk more, and a car pulls up. "Damn, it's Roger." Hart hides.
Roger tells Bridget he's come to see Peter. Peter comes back outside and
says "Where's my daddy?" "You've seen your daddy?", Roger asks. Bridget
covers. "He will. Hart's coming by later". Roger tries to explain to
Peter about life and how unfair it can be. He rambles on. Bridget stops
him, saying Peter's too young to understand all this. Hart watches the
scene from the bushes. Roger warns Bridget to be careful. Roger leaves
after Peter gives him a kiss. Hart comes out of hiding, and gives Peter a
kiss as he tries to leave. Bridget wants and explanation, but none is
forthcoming. Hart assures her that everything is OK, and he leaves.

Diner
Frank and Eleni tell Dahlia they've done about all they can to help her
deal with her mother's lies. Maybe she needs to talk to someone else.
Eleni's friend gave her the name of a good counselor... Dahlia wants
nothing to do with a shrink. Frank and Eleni just want to help. "Don't
bother", says Dahlia, as she leaves the room. Frank and Eleni agree that
"they've gotta do what they've gotta do." A hooker comes in and sits down
in a booth with a male diner customer. He complains, and Eleni politely
tells the woman that this is a family diner, and she'll have to leave.
Frank sees what's going on, and quickly escorts the woman to the door, as
the woman says she knows Frank from somewhere. Dahlia watches all from the
kitchen.

Hospital Room, Cedars
Fletcher and Holly fret about Meg. They talk about how smart she is.
Michelle brings Meg in. Holly and Fletcher quiz Michelle about the test.
Michelle knows nothing, but volunteers to babysit anytime. Michelle
leaves. Holly and Fletcher coo over Meg.

Outside the room, Vivian runs into Marcus. She greets him warmly. Marcus
responds, "Lose the sunny hellos. I know." Vivian goes on the offensive,
wondering why Marcus is so vindictive. Does he hate his father that much?
Does he dislike Vivian that much? Marcus says he's not there to wreck her
life, he's just looking for Michelle Bauer. Does Vivian know where she might
be? He leaves, Vivian calls him back. She wants to know what he's going to
do. Marcus responds that he doesn't really care what happens to Vivian and
Griffin - they deserve what they get. Marcus leaves. Vivian puts on a happy
face and walks in to greet Fletcher and Holly. They see something's wrong
and ask if Vivian's OK.

Diner
Frank, dressed in his cop uniform, kisses Eleni goodbye. She asks if he
talked to Dahlia. They realize they don't know where she is. Cut to
Dahlia outside the diner, talking to the recently ejected hooker. Dahlia
asks if the hooker knows her mom. She does. She tells Dahlia that Tina
used to work all the bars on 9th St. Dahlia wants to know why. "Why? What
difference does it make?", the hooker replies as she walks away.

The Woods, Scene of the Crime
Hart sneaks up on Dinah. He apologizes for scaring her. They talk about
the shooting, and Roger's return to the grave to retrieve the Lonotrat.
Dinah tells Hart that Roger is a broken man. She found him crouched on the
floor looking at Hart's picture. He's stuck in a nightmare. Hart
expresses regret that they have to do this, but knows it's the only way to
stop Roger from destroying Dinah. Hart mentions seeing Roger at the
boardinghouse, and Dinah gets upset that Hart told Bridget that he's still
alive. Dinah's afraid Roger will find out.

Thorpe Penthouse
Leo's pounding on the door. Roger slowly opens the door. Leo bounds in,
happy that the new doctored books are done, and Roger can be free. He
doesn't notice, much less feel, Roger's pain.

Hospital Room, Cedars
Holly and Fletcher are concerned about Vivian. She covers, saying she didn't
get much sleep last night, and hasn't had much to eat today. She gives
Holly and Fletcher Meg's test score. 1 is very good, 6 is bad, and Meg
scored a strong 2. Holly and Fletcher are relieved. There are no new
surprises. Holly sends Fletcher out with Meg. Holly quizzes Vivian about
what's really going on. Vivian doesn't want to talk about it. Holly doesn't
push. Holly leaves. Vivian sits with her head in her hands, and in walks
Griffin.

Thorpe Penthouse
Leo finally notices that something is wrong. Leo wonders if it's about
Hart, and calls Hart a punk. Roger starts to choke Leo. Leo apologizes
about the punk crack and goes on about the new books. He sees that Roger
isn't well and starts talking about doctors and getting treated quietly and
confidentially. Leo will even pay for it out of the retainer Roger gave
him, if Roger will get help.

The Woods, Scene of the Crime
Hart isn't going to let Peter think he's dead. Dinah is very concerned
that Bridget or Peter will accidentally say something. Hart reassures
Dinah. She apologizes, and explains that she's just worried about their
plan succeeding, since they've been successful so far. Hart assures her
it will be fine - he found a good luck charm, an arrowhead, while he was
cleaning up the grave the other night. He gives it to Dinah as a reminder
that they will pull this off.

Hospital Room, Cedars
Vivian expresses her concern about Marcus to Griffin. He apologizes for
everything. He says it's for the best. They have to stop hurting people.
Griffin wants to tell Charles. Vivian turns her back on him, and in walks
Charles.

Elsewhere in the hospital, Marcus has found Michelle. He explains that
Dahlia is going through a rough time, and won't listen or talk to the
people that care about her. "Like you?", Michelle asks. Marcus asks
Michelle to keep an eye on Dahlia, and find out whether she'll talk to him.
Michelle sympathizes with Marcus, and agrees to help.

Diner
Frank and Eleni discuss Dahlia some more, and Frank finally leaves for
work. Upstairs, Dahlia sits in her room hearing Marcus say that her mom is
a prostitute and in jail. She starts to put on some lipstick.

The Woods, Scene of the Crime
Dinah and Hart talk about Hart staying in the cave they were going to bury
him in. Dinah says it should be safe - Roger isn't coming back here.
Hart's taking no chances.

Thorpe Penthouse
Roger sends Leo packing. Roger chains the door, sits down on the sofa and
starts looking at the papers Leo left. "I killed my son for this", he says
softly as he starts to tear up the papers.
