Guiding Light Hotflash Lighthouse Update
Thursday June 22, 1995

A million pardons for this update's tardiness but it has been
over 100 degrees in my home computer room over the weekend.
I am including a summary of the commercials run during the show,
for those who are interested in complaining about the possible
cancellation of GL directly to the advertisers.

Matt cops a clue
Tangie has an unwelcome source
Alex and Alan fight like 8 year olds again
AM tells Dad to don a raincoat

Let the show begin

Van's House:
Roger is peeved to find a cop stationed in the vestibule, but
with Blake's help he is admitted to the liviing room where he
fiinds Cutter playing the latest ransom tape for Ross, Van,
and Matt. We hear Dinah saying : 2 mil is to be left where
they tell you. You'll be given a location later. I'll be picking up
the money myself, and a gun will be aimed at me. I'll be shot if
anything looks suspicious.

Cut to: Dinah's Hideout
Dinah is gloating over a chess move, and when she checkmates
Vik he upends the board. Dinah explains that she warned him
about her "Bobby Fischer blitzkrieg" and Vik grumpily prepares
to depart to scout out a dropping off point. Dinah calls him
back saying as a prize she should be shown what's in the mystery
box.

BTW, have you noticed that the wallpaper looks amazing like
that which David and Gabriella were putting up in their love nest?

Journal:
We have a repeat of yesterday's scene where Lucy agrees to
discuss Brent with AM. As they clasp hands, Lucy asks for
AM's help. She tells him that a good place to start is apologizing
for being mad about him going to group counseling. She begins
to back off, but AM takes her into Holly's office so they can have
more privacy. On the computer screen we see (but of course,
they don't):
CALL POLICE. BRENT LAWRENCE IS HERE
(reviewers note: The stuff on the screen looks like a windows
application. There is no header and the cursor is blinking on the E)
The cursor is backing over the message, from the E in here to the C
in call. Unfortunately, AM and Lucy never notice.

Tangie's Boathouse:
Brent is backspacing madly. Tangie picks up a box (?) from her
desk and brains Brent. Yeah, Tangie! She runs for the door and
part way up the stairs before he tackles her. As Tangie hits the
deck, Brent goes into his bad guy psychobabble: Huh. Gonna
scream? Nobody can hear you scream. You're all alone. I'll be
here to keep you company.

Part 1

Chez Spaulding:
Alex overhears Alan trying to arrange tickets for the opera and
to a hot club. When she assumes they are for Tangie, he asserts
they are for her. They flirt a bit over her escort who she assumes
to be Alan, but it turns out he is trying to fix her up with Cyril
Bradley, a excellent English gentlemen who happens to be visiting.
Alex is very upset and tells him if he is trying to get rid of her so
he can have some privacy, all he has to do is ask. Alan does just
that and Alex says she is not going to have that young opportunist
in her house. Alan tries to explain his feelings for Tangie, but Alex
asserts that T. is attracted to Alan the empire not Alan the man.

Tangie's:
As Tangie picks up stuff, a bruised Brent tells her that if she moves
from her chair before he tells her she can move she will be very sorry.
Tangie: You're so brave, Brent. Brent says T. like Lucy is a tease.
Tangie counters with his rape of Lucy but B. declares that all this is
lies. He blames Lucy for the loss of his job. Lucy got what she
deserved, and Alan Spaulding is next. He tells T. that she is
going to write an article for that rag she works for.

Lucy and AM:
AM tells Lucy she must have time and patience. She feels she can't
think about the future when she has so much hate in her heart.
AM tells her he will be right beside her. Nick bursts into the office
to tell them that something big is coming in that they should see.
They go to the newsroom and Nick reads the beginning of the
article accusing the convicted felon, A. Spaulding of masterminding
AM's troubles. The article is scrolling up on the screen as Nick reads.

Huggies Supremes
Cat Chow special care -Purina

Part 2

Van's
As they hear construction noises on the tape, Van and Ross discuss
what to do. Van wants to get the money but Ross wants to explore
all options. Van wants to take the money to the drop, but Matt
protests vehemently. Ross challenges Rog stating that if he'd
come clean right away about Vik instead of playing cloak and
dagger games, Dinah would be ok. As Van sees Rog out, he tells
her about Clayton and insists that he must work by himself. Matt
sees them talking, but I don't know if he overhears them. Blake
thinks its a scam esp. since Dinah is picking up the money, but
Matt's not so sure. He has an idea where Dinah might be because
of the construction noises, and asks Blake to cover for him.

Hideout:
Vik shows Dinah a rifle and warns her not to think of doublecrossing
him. Dinah asks him to undo her chain, but he just hands her the
remote. She calls him a big oaf, as he smirks his way out.

Journal:
Nick tells AM and Lucy that the article is coming in via Tangie's
modem line. AM asks Nick to hold up on the story since it will kill
confidence in the company. He wants to call Tangie, but Nick
says her line is busy.

Tangie's:
T. begins to sweet talk Brent saying that she didn't realize
that Alan was so devious. Brent asserts that if he goes down,
A. is going down in flames. Tangie suggests that they tell Cutter ,
but Brent doesn't buy it, saying they are going to do it his way.

Part 3

Journal:
Lucy reads the next segment aloud as it comes in. It states that
Brent was acting as part of a conspiracy to destroy AM's career.
AM again asks Nick for more time. Nick says its such a big story.
He wonders if AM thinks its true. AM says that it doesn't matter.
If this becomes public before he has the confidence of the board,
it will ruin him. Nick thinks its Alan that will look bad. AM keeps
saying he needs time to think and wondering why Alan would
do this to him. Lucy wonders why Tangie would go so easy on
Brent. Nick feels it might be because she sees Brent as merely
Alan's pawn. AM decides to go see Alan, while Lucy goes to
see Tangie.

Chez Spaulding:
Alex waves a white hanky and asks for a truce. Alan says the
family needs to grow, and seems to think Tangie would be a
suitable vessel for such growth. Alex feels T. is too unreadable.
Alan counters by accusing Alex of acting like a jealous 8 year old.
Alex counters that she is just trying to protect him and the family
fortunes. She reminds him that just 6 months ago Tangie was
dating his son. Enter AM saying that he wants to talk to Alan alone.

Van's:
Enter fauxDavid and Jet bearing fresh Reardon bread. Jet wonders
who the goons are at the door, and goes upstairs to see Peter.
Blake corners David with her scam theory. When David isn't so sure,
Blake asserts that Matt agreed with her. Van misses Matt and Blake covers.

EuroTrash is asleep on the couch as the TV blares. Matt is in the
hallway outside.

Part 4

Hideout:
Matt meets the phone repair guy in the hall and tries to find out if Vik
is in the building.

Chez Spaulding:
AM bursts in and accuses Alan of being in cahoots with Brent.
He tries to get rid of Alex, but she keeps putting in her 2 cents.
When Alan wonders how AM could believe B. over his own father,
he wonders if it would make a difference if Tangie were making the
charges. Alan says that when he saw Tangie earlier in the day,
she was writing an article that was very
considerate of the family. Best line of the day:
AM: Our family makes the Medicis look like the Brady Bunch!
He tells Alan that Tangie was probably cozying up to him in

order to get the real dirt. As of tomorrow everybody is going to
know about it.
"I'd put on a raincoat if I were you Dad. It's about to hit the fan!" Exit AM.

Tangie's:
T. tries to get Brent to leave when the article is finished but he
counters with : For a Pulitzer Prize candidate you're not too
bright. He won't leave so she can call the cops. He prepares to
hang out until after the Journal's deadline, and inquires as to
whether T. has any country/western CDs. Lucy knocks.

Commercials:

Part 5

Tangie's:
Brent holds a gun on T. as she answers the door at Lucy's
insistent knocking. Lucy refuses to be brushed off with lame
explantations.
T:I wrote the truth as I know it, and if I hurt your feelings,
I'm sorry
L:You're sorry. Tangie, I was raped and you know I was raped.
You were at the police station when I finally admitted it ...
I don't care what you wrote about Alan, but how can you
make Brent out to be a victim? You know its wrong ...
The way you're writing this he's never going to get
prosecuted. He's going to get away with everything ....
Please, T. , that man has come back and he has gloated
in my face and now you're going to defend him... How can
you live with yourself?
Tangie looks over at Brent and the gun.

Spauldings:
Alan looks distraught as Alex asks him what most upsets
him, AM's anger or Tangie's betrayal.

Van's:
Bridge wants to split but David wonders why she didn't
seem to remember the argument she had with Van which
took place only a few hours before. Van and Jet schmooze
while David looks troubled. Blake strokes Ross who sits
dejectly with an overflowing paper plate full of food.

Matt at the hideout:
Matt looks in the window, while we see Dinah asleep on
the couch. Instead of calling the cops, he comes in thru
the kitchen window. Dinah wakes up to the scene she
dreamed of just a few days before.

Commercials:

thing about pain is the moment when it stops

little Liz did 18 years ago. BTW, she was raised on
nature's miracle. Sorry Carnation.

Part 6

Hideout:
Matt and Dinah prattle instead of vamoosing before
Viktor returns. Dinah tries to get Matt to save himself,
saying Vik is very dangerous. Vik is stalled in the hall
by the telephone repair guy. He fondles his gun as the
guy tries to get into the apt. again.

AM and Landlady:
An old lady lets AM into Apt. 14 as he reassures her that
the tenant is an old buddy. The landlady's scruples are
overcome by generous infusions of cash. BTW, the
frosted glass windows in the vestibule look like Rog's
old apt. corridor. AM sees Brent's wall display of Spaulding
memoriabilia. It is interesting that he has the article on :
Key witness missing in Bradshaw vs. Spaulding. AM's
whereabouts unknown. How long has Brent been following
the Spauldings, anyway? AM sees Brent's box of bullets
and pictures of AM, Lucy and Alan with crosshairs, which
he takes with him.
Big question: how did AM know Brent was in town and
where his apartment was

Tangie's:
Lucy continues to plead with Tangie about Brent saying that
he is not a human being and very dangerous. She begs her to
go to the police if she knows where Brent is. If not, Lucy offers
to do so. Tangie, with a glance in Brent's direction, remains silent.
