It's Romance and Heartache Night in Springfield, USA. Just call it
"Sex, Lies and the Supernatural." :)

MARLER RESIDENCE
================

Blake is talking to a tape recorder, making notes about the
kidnapping. She notes that a single woman's shoe was found, and
wonders how the kidnapper got the victim from the second floor to
the ground. Ross enters and she shuts off the recorder.

JOURNAL
=======

Folly discuss the paper. Fletch still wants to do a big story on their
engagement. They discuss it some more. Fletch suggests they elope
to Las Vegas.

SPAULDING RESIDENCE
===================

Alan wines and dines Tangie. He turns on mood lighting, puts some
jazz on the stereo, gives her booze. Tangie sneaks a look at a copy of
the Spaulding Industries newsletter with Brent on the cover as
employee of the year.

TOWERS
======

Rick tells Annie she has to tell Josh about her past. She insists that
if he finds out, she'll have to leave town. Reva opines, "Whatever it
takes to make this girl leave town is fine by me." She congratulates
herself for spoiling Josh and Annie's date. She wants to celebrate
with a drink, but of course the passing waiter doesn't see her.

Josh stomps back in, looking annoyed. Reva gasps and twirls around,
disappearing as she spins. Her revolving motion melts into the
lighthouse opening...

Roll lighthouse.

You know, it's really true about Pringles. Once you open the can, it's
impossible to put it down. Insidious, no?

JOURNAL
=======

Holly laughs at Fletch as he extols the virtues of Vegas, then suggests
they elope to Clayton. Then he suggests they marry on the same rooftop
on which he first proclaimed his love for her. "Yeah, right," says
Holly. "Give Roger another chance to make a scene on Main Street, ooh,
he would love that." They hug and discuss the wedding some more. Fletch
insists they shouldn't let Rog dictate how their wedding happens. He's
not afraid of Rog. Holly admits she wouldn't mind a normal wedding with
announcements and invitations and so forth. Fletch tries to convince
her to go for it. "Or would it make things easier if we just dropped
the whole idea of getting married?"

TOWERS
======

Rick pulls Annie into a hallway and tells her she can't leave town.
It's obvious that Josh is in love with her; she has to trust him. Rick
caresses her face and tells her not to blow it.

As Josh descends the stairs into the Towers dining room, a serving
cart comes out of nowhere and he walks right into it, spilling
everything and knocking over a waiter and a customer. Reva grins and
rubs her hands together in delight.

Amidst the chaos, Sid and Gilly sit at a table. Gilly is preoccupied
with business, as always. Sid tells her she's all work, no play; she
has to eat. They drink champagne and flirt. Sid is annoyed when he
sees Hamp, who he thought had the night off. The waiter tells him that
the maitre d' is sick, so Hamp is filling in. Hamp cleans up the mess
on the floor and glares at Sid.

Gilly sees her former boss with a pretty blonde -- apparently a
candidate for Gilly's replacement -- and gets a suspicious look. She
tells Sid this is her chance to find out who's responsible for her
losing her job.

SPAULDING HOUSE O'HORRORS
=========================

Alan is glad Tangie is still speaking to him. She tells him he's
fascinating, but he wants to be more than that to her ;) He tells
her he has dreamed about being alone with her. [Amazingly, she's
flattered rather than repulsed.] He mentions his five lonely years in
prison and asks if she believes in fate. She says no; we make our own
luck. He wonders if she remembers anything from their first meeting.
She remembers his eyes looked haunted and sad. But he doesn't look that
way anymore. She's impressed with the way he's been acting lately.

They discuss Brent and his motivations. Alan is confident the Brent
problem is solved. He tells Tangie she's beautiful. "You're the woman
that I've always dreamed about. Your eyes are telling me a lot. They
say you'd like this to happen, but you dare not. And I say, why not
take a chance?" Smooch City.

After the commercial, the kiss continues, until Alex enters, turns on
the lights and demands to know what happened at the Towers; her
phone has been ringing off the hook. She completely ignores Tangie.
Alan manhandles her out of the room, insisting that he'll take care of
the whole thing. Alex insists that he call Glen Taggert and he relents.
He orders Alex to go back upstairs, makes his excuses and leaves.

Alex makes a snide remark and then bids Tangie goodnight, but
Tangie stops her, saying she has a question.

MARLER RESIDENCE
================

Blake gets all solicitous with Ross and asks where he's been. He tells
her his lead didn't pan out and resumes the "I'm a terrible father"
routine. Blake gives him a pep talk, assuring him that he's been
nothing but loving to Dinah, etc. She starts undressing him. He tells
her never to leave him. She says she never will. They lock lips and
fall onto the bed.

TOWERS
======

Annie tells Rick she can't be the woman he wants her to (i.e. an honest
one). He starts complimenting; she's beautiful, intelligent, etc etc.
She tells him to stop being so nice. "Don't you ever learn?" she asks.
He admits she isn't that good a cook. :) Enter Josh, walking in on
these two for about the thousandth time. He assures them everything's
fine with Marah. Rick takes off. Josh asks Annie if he can take her
home and she says yes. They head for the door.

Standing next to the bar, Reva watches them go, and blows Josh a
kiss. He stares for a moment, then starts to leave. Suddenly, the cork
pops out of a bottle sitting on the bar. Bubbly spews everywhere,
startling the bartender. Josh stares again, then leaves like a bat
outta hell.

What a screwy society we live in, when you can't even tell people
you made the potato salad from a mix.

Have you bought your Reva video yet?

The bartender tells Hamp he's never seen anything like it. Hamp
says it's been one of those nights; maybe Nadine was right. ;)

Gilly tells Sid she can't let it go, and goes to talk to the guy. He
introduces her to the blonde. Gilly asks "Alison" to excuse them. She
pulls the guy aside and bitches him out for not returning her calls.
The blonde watches as Gilly demands a straight answer: "Why was I
fired?" He laughs it off somewhat uneasily and spews industry talk
at her: demographic research, new directions, etc. She tells him to
quit the runaround. She wants to know what really happened. He
gets honest and tells her he got a memo from his superiors, telling
him to fire Gilly and find someone else. He has no idea who it was,
but someone with a lot of clout wanted her gone. If it were up to
him, she'd still be there. She's loaded with talent. He's sorry it
didn't work out. Gilly isn't comforted.

JOURNAL
=======

"What do I have to do with you?" Holly demands. "Shake you up? Throw
you on the desk?" Fletch chuckles like a horny schoolboy. Holly
assures him that she really does want to marry him, but she'd rather
do it safely. If that makes her chicken, she doesn't care. "Well, you
already know I'm a breast and thigh man," Fletch says, [!!!!!!!] and
asks her about her fantasy wedding. She talks about it, and Fletch
takes notes. He writes down country...green...elegant...laughter...
Holly shrugs, it's not really going to be that way, so why bother
talking about it? Fletch tells her they'll be together their whole
lives, and he wants it to be perfect.

CHEZ SPAULDING
==============

Alan listens from outside as Tangie tells Alex about Brent's
accusations and Alan's reaction. Alex tells her that the family loves
each other despite their squabbles. Tangie asks if Alex really thinks
Brent could have pulled off the whole fraud by himself. Alan bursts
back in before Alex can answer. Alex excuses herself quickly and
Alan gives Tangie a dark look. "Did you amuse yourself while I was
gone?"

The *real* Eleni is drinking Kahlua coffee with a wimpy SNAG.

OUTSIDE ANNIE'S APARTMENT
=========================

Josh apologizes for the evening. They are awkward. Annie asks him
to stay. He was afraid she wouldn't ask. She unlocks the door and
they enter. She says she has things to tell him, but he stops her. He
hopes they'll have years to say all those things, but right now
they're wasting time. Return to Smooch City. She asks him to listen to
her, in a small voice. He promises to listen later; they've analyzed
themselves to death. More smooching. She tells him it's important. He
insists other stuff ;) is more important. They sink onto the couch,
smooching. "I love you...and I don't want to lose you," Annie says.
Josh says he loves her too. More smooching. The phone rings. They stop
kissing and glare at it.

MARLER MADHOUSE
===============

Post-boink chat. Ross can't imagine life without Blake. The Dinah
thing is making him appreciate his life even more. They reaffirm
their love. Ross wonders if they made a baby. Blake looks less than
thrilled about the prospect.

SPAULDING SANITARIUM
====================

Tangie asks how the phone call went. Alan asks if this is off the
record. He looks suspicious. He's back in his cold, aloof,
supercilious mode. She stops him and asks what's wrong. "Who are you
really?" he asks. She asks him the same question back. He kisses her
firmly. "You kiss me so sweetly but as soon as I turn my back..." He
accuses her of using him for the story. She watches in amazement as he
storms off.

I hate this Coppertone commercial. Is Mom the only one who cares
whether kids get sunburnt? Doesn't Dad care? *grumble*

TOWERS
======

Gilly rejoins Sid and tells him what happened. The whole thing
strikes her as "surreal." She can't believe the guy brought his new
prospect on Gilly's "turf." She rants a bit and then apologizes to
Sid. She assures him she's not sorry that she's here with him, but she
hates the way it happened. She hates the cut-throat-ness of the
business. She rants some more and calls herself naive. Sid tells her
it's what he fell in love with. Sappy romantic talk *roll eyes* Gilly
notes that the chef just "happened" to make her favorite dish...
they're drinking champagne...she takes a clue and realizes Sid
wanted the evening to be special. "It still can be." He whips out a
ring and asks her to marry him.

ANNIE'S ARCADE
==============

Josh tells her not to answer it. She says if she doesn't, they'll
keep calling back. She answers; it's "Rebecca." Reva is standing right
there in the room, talking on the phone. [Neat trick!] She tells Annie
that Rick came storming into the hospital, muttering about truth and
Annie and boyfriends. Annie tells "Rebecca" she'll take care of it.
She thanks her and hangs up. Reva fades away. Annie tells Josh she was
getting an update on a patient. Suddenly she claims to have a
headache...Josh interrupts and asks her to tell him what's wrong.
"Josh...this isn't going to work." He can't believe it. She says she's
sorry. He doesn't want an apology: "I want you to love me enough to
be honest with me....We're worth fighting for." Tears run down
Annie's face and she tells Josh she really does care about him, but
she needs more time. Josh looks stony. "This is about Reva, isn't it?"

Yeah, sure, every woman craves fried chicken when she's pregnant.

TOWERS
======

Gilly realizes that Sid was trying to plan a whole romantic evening
and she ruined it. She tells him "yes." They hug as the rest of the
restaurant looks on, all smiling except Hamp.

SPAULDING HOME
==============

Tangie tells Alan she didn't mean to hurt him. She's a reporter
and he's a newsworthy person. She tries to convince him that
they've been learning how not to let business things interfere with
their relationship. He tells her she shouldn't have come and he
shouldn't have invited her. She's not sorry she came; she wanted to
be with him. He interrupts by saying he'll call her a cab. He leaves
and she nods sadly to herself.

JOURNAL
=======

Holly asks Fletch what he wants in a wedding. He says he has ideas,
but they'll discuss it later. She makes him promise not to tell Roger.
She wonders how they can trust Blake and Tangie to keep quiet. And
what if Alex hears about it? They cuddle and determine not to let
anything mess it up. They need a secret place to hold the wedding.
Fletch has a cat-ate-canary look. He has an "unusual" place in mind.
[Uh-oh!]

ANNIE'S
=======

Annie tells Josh it's not about him or Reva, it's about her. She
doesn't want him to fix it; she doesn't want him to love her. She
storms out. Josh rubs his chin pensively.

That's all folks!!!
