[E,D,C]:

Action at Doris' (where Springfield's Finest Come To Play):

   * Jenna, hair still wet from a rainstorm and impromtu hike, pissed-
off at (and madly in love with) Buzz despite verbal denial, is
playing on Josh's lap like a cat in heat. Sorrows drowning in
booze (again), she makes a lame attempt to sell Josh on her
"Leichester Square" lotion ("...could be a different type of Lewis
Oil..."), producing a bottle and rubbing it all over his arm.
Getting nowhere, the Jen-ster breaks south, passing out brochures to
     everybody in the joint. :)

   * Tangie and Cutter make an appearance (which forces the on-going
poker game to switch to sugar packets-as-bounty), and during
a chat about money and cars (she wants to buy one), T confesses
that she feels on a level playing field with Pat because
"we're the only ones in Springfield without money...". :)
She also spots a female name on one of Pat's credit cards when he
tries to pay for drinks, but he essentially dodges all inquiries
     ("...I had a wife, but I don't anymore...").
A decision to visit the Journal's credit union for a car loan
is waylaid after Tangie demonstrates her prowess with mixed
drinks (Jenna expressed a desire for a "Pimm's Cup" (gin-based)),
and Doris hires T for night bartending duty ($10/hr - possibility
     of clearing $100/night w/tips). [!]

   * Ed and Eve bop in, there to celebrate her return to surgical/ER
duties. The good doctor spots Vanessa post-poker triumphs [!]
and tries to mend fences, but Van opts for more time before
     restoration of normal Bauer/Chamberlain relations.
Eve later catches 'Nessa out on Doris' porch slowly downing a beer,
and tries to accelerate the healing process. She explains that Ed
is back to loving life, has stopped mourning Maureen, and Van
should feel happy for an old friend. Then, the Eve-ster breaks Zen:
"...all we're trying to do is live in
the moment...you should give it a try..."
When Josh goes out to place his sport coat around Van to ward off
the night chill, she activates Eve's advice and orders J to
"fine her a buck anytime she mentions anything -or anyone- from the
past". Josh goes along with the program, and makes his fine a
     "ten-spot".

Back inside, Eve and Ed (literaly closing the club - Doris has
pronounced "last call"), slow-dancing, deep in love, and on each
other closer than white-on-rice, decide to fire up the tradition
of the annual Bauer 4th of July blow-out. With Eve playing an
integral part, this time --- as "co-host". [!]
Jenna, frazzled, drinking her self goofy, declines a ride home from
the Dynamic Duo, her tears glistening in the low lights of the bar,
and a bottle of her lotion nestled against her neck.

   Florida.
Eleni (sub-ho) falls for A-M's speech about love and change and
engages her ex in a rather hearty (albeit brief) bit of lip-lock and
spit-swapping. [Yikes!]
Just as she praises him for getting his act together ("...Oh, Alan
Michael...you're no longer manipulative...you've changed!") [he-he-he],
E takes a phone call from Springfield --- Frank's been in an "accident".
Alan Michael makes immediate arrangements for Eleni to blow Dodge and
return to her husband's side.

In Springfield however, the Mother of All LoveTraps has been sprung.
Buzz made that call to E from the hospital, all right, but he, Frank
(w/Marina in a back-carrier) and David (who took his dad's keys from
home) are in a Cedar's supply room. Frank has taken his dad's advice and
decided to fight A-M's move on Eleni with a gambit of his own.
The boys raid the room, taking gauze, bandages, slings, etc., and
when F gets a guilty conscience over the rip-off, Buzz orders Dave to
break out the calculator. :) They ultimately decide to leave $100 (from
Buzz's poker winnings) on a shelf (was $34.53, but Frank insisted those
were 1971 prices). :) Exiting, Buzz also rips-off a bed (Dave-O is sent
back into the supply room to deposit more money) [!].

Back at Cooper Casa, while waiting for Eleni to show, David produces
an avalanche of Sweepstakes entries his mom had stored in her closet. [:>)]
He and Buzz take them out to the front porch to fill-out, and Buzz makes
a wish upon a star (significant in the context of Nadine's fortune-
teller session).
Eleni finally shows a bit later, walks straight into the house ---
and finds Frank in a bed in the living room, one of his legs wrapped as
if broken, and strung-up by a pulley on the "borrowed" Cedars bed!

Since Ed and Eve's "Groucho-antics" last week, the depth and texture
of both the writing and acting on the show has been superb.
Establishing Doris' place as a play-site was a master-stroke, as it
allows ecclectic character mix; a chance for players to really let their
hair down. Imagine a poker (or backgammon) game there with Donna,
Ginger, Van, Alexandra, Buzz, Roger, Gilly and Nick --- with Ben
kibbitzing. ;)
The great thing is, you'll never know _who's_ going to turn up, or
what they'll do.

Ah, TPTB heard my pleas. The pronouncement by Ed that he and Eve were
going to "break with tradition" at the Bauer 4th of July BBQ, is
essentially a tip-off that things have the potential of getting "buck-
wylde". :)))
And wouldn't it be funny if one of our recipes made a debut?

Now that Josh and Van have made vows to "forget the past", how soon
before they start the prelude waltz to the "horizontal tango"? ;))

The little girl playing Marina is amazing. Notice how she went from
attentive to (actually) asleep on Frank's back during the hospital
scenes (ok, ok; there was a large time-gap between takes, but she's
still adorable :) ). Add the poker game segments, and you have some
great, real moments.
Which brings me to an idea for the FAQ. How about posting segments we
think should be in a "Hall of Fame"? 5-10 scenes you'd compile to
persuade a friend to start watching the show; those you think are simply
execllent (past two years). After a month or so, perhaps we could reach
consensus on _the_ Top Ten.

   My initial entries:

   * Maureen's kitchen confrontation w/Lillian post-confession
     of her affair with Ed

   * Roger punching everyone and their mamma off the Country Club
ballroom balcony during Mindy and Nick's engagement party

   * Jet breaking south on Dylan and Julie's marriage ceremony

   * The Buzz, Frank, David, Marina, Josh, Vanessa and Co.
     poker game at Doris'

   * The introduction of Donna and Ginger

   * Last year's Thanklsgiving Dinner at the CC w/Ed, Eve, Lillian,
Michelle, etc. (Eve: "Shall I carve?...")

   * Ed and Eve's "Groucho-facilitated" make-out session

   (to be continued)
