A sparkly wedding evening in Springfield USA...

COURTHOUSE: Dressed in a floor-length mauve gown (Spaulding vintage, no
doubt), Eleni serves hors d'oeuvres from a silver platter. The platter
empty, she returns to the catering station, where Buzz, in tux, is a
little slow in passing his share of the goodies. Eleni chides him gently.
He says he knows she knows he was about to split, but wouldn't have left
her holding the bag. "I would have paid you back," he insists. Eleni
brushes the topic off as not worth discussing. Buzz is happy to have a
few hours away from his "court-appointed watchdog." On cue, Nadine, in a
strapless red gown (Lewis vintage, no doubt), appears.

TOWERS TERRACE: A tuxedoed Cutter looks out over the town. Jenna, robed &
hooded in white (has she taken a vow of chastity?) ventures out & chides
him for his "rotten stunt" at the station. He tells her to lighten up.
"Buzz is free. He can rent himself another tux; you can kiss & make up;
the truth will out." Jenna makes Cutter back up & verify that Buzz was
attired formally the night the plumber cleared the toilet of soggy stolen
bills: "He was on fire to get wherever he was going. But apparently I put
a crimp in his plans. Did he miss something important?" "Oh, you could
say that," responds Jenna, but not unkindly.

CARRIAGE HOUSE: Holly apologizes for bringing up the fact that she once
caught Ross in bed with Blake & agrees to go back to pretending it never
happened. She asks Ross to admit, however, that it's all worked out fine
-- he & Blake are getting married, & she'll be at the wedding. "Along
with my father-in-law to be," adds Ross. "This just has a fearful
symmetry that I'm sure I'm going to find amusing someday when I'm going
through the wedding album." Holly says they should just get through today
first. Ross asks what Roger has done now.

HOLLY'S COTTAGE: Blake is trying to get Roger to tell her who just hung
up on the phone, while he insists that he has to "take care of something"
before the wedding. "If you're going to do anything to interfere with my
wedding, I want you to tell me know," worries Blake. Rog shakes his head
in exasperation. Blake begs him not to spoil the most important day of
her life. The phone rings & Rog rushes to answer -- it's Tangie, for
Blake. She tells Blake there's some kind of problem & Blake promises to
rush right over before T can tell her not to. As she's about to run out,
Rog stops her to say there's nothing more important to him than her
happiness. Blake is afraid of being happy, because someone might take it
away. Rog hugs her & promises to always try to do what's best for her.

CARRIAGE HOUSE: Holly tries to convince Ross that Rog is not a danger to
his marital happiness. She sees the wedding as an opportunity to heal old
wounds. Since they both love Blake, she argues, they owe it to her to
try. Ross agrees.

SPAULDING MANSION: Fletch finds Alex, in evening clothes, poring over the
papers to revoke Nick's ownership of the mansion & WSPR. He warns her
that if she doesn't end the cycle of deceit & backstabbing, she'll have
an "ugly businessman" much worse to deal with than the Dark Prince--more
along the lines of Brandon or Alan. Alex thinks this is poppycock. Fletch
reminds her to keep in mind the great influence she has over Nick. The
devil himself enters & Fletch casually places the papers in a drawer as
they discuss plans for heading to the Marler-Thorpe nuptials. Fletch goes
to get Ben; Alex is supposed to follow later & meet them. Nick asks "Mom"
if everything is all right. Alex is surprised since he rarely calls her
that; Nick says he thinks he should change his ways. He asks if she has
anything to tell him. She says there's something he should know.

HOLLY'S COTTAGE: Holly returns to find Rog sitting by himself. She
thought he was going over to the courthouse, but he says he decided
against it so no one would think there was "a conspiracy afoot." He
explains that Blake is worried he's out to ruin her wedding somehow; he
concludes it's partially pre-wedding jitters, but partially his fault as
well. He reminds her of their recent talk about his father & reiterates
how hard it is to talk about a man who treats him like nothing. He says
it's Adam he's been trying to call & when he rushed to get the phone
earlier, he had hoped it would be his father, since he's left tons of
messages. Holly realizes Rog wanted to have his father at his daughter's
wedding. Rog says he can deal with people "fleeing from rooms" when he
appears, but when it's his father, it still hurts. Holly says things will
change, but Rog has to trust in "the benevolence of fate." Rog says life
has taught him that he can't. "Then trust in me," replies Holly.

SPAULDING MANSION: Alex says she was seriously considering taking back
the house & the TV stations, even had her lawyer draw up the papers. She
apologizes & says she would never turn her back on him. Nick is
flabbergasted. Nick says he's the one who should apologize for putting
her in a situation where she felt she had to protect herself. Alex says
it's no excuse & thanks him for understanding. "It's a terrible way to
live, not trusting those close to you."

TOWERS TERRACE: Cutter confirms for a delighted Jenna that Buzz seemed
happy, excited, "corny as Kansas in August" that fateful Elopement Eve.
She thanks him & wonders about his plans, since he's all dressed up. He
says he's "flying solo." He wonders if real life seems mundane after her
exciting life as a jewel thief. She suggests he escort her to the wedding
& promises to share all her secrets with him. She says Buzz will be there
& she needs to clear up a "terrible misunderstanding." Cutter gallantly
agrees & takes her arm.

COURTHOUSE: Eleni chats with the wedding coordinator, who mentions a
wedding in Cincinnati for someone named Tina "who looks a little like
you." [Could this be an inside reference to a relative of Melina's? She
is from Ohio.] Eleni checks on Buzz & tries to find out why he's so glum.
"I lost the woman I loved. You're married, you have a child; don't make
the same mistake." Nadine appears & looks sympathetic.

David & Kat arrive; David wants to see if Eleni needs any help since
Frank wasn't sure if he'd be coming. Kat says she read that people who
get too involved in other people's lives have trouble committing to their
own life. David thinks Kat is getting too smart for her own good. An
Asian woman presents a gift to Tangie & asks her to see that Blake gets
it. Blake goes over the seating plan with the wedding coordinator--Rog
can't sit near Ed... or Frank... or Fletch... Finally, she tells the
woman to seat him next to her mother. Tangie brings over the gift & asks
if Blake wants to open it. She decides to look at the card first & almost
has a coronary when she sees it's from Alan Spaulding. Tangie asks who he
is. "He's only the man who tried to kill me at my first wedding!" This is
obviously a BAD OMEN in Blake's eyes.

CARRIAGE HOUSE: Ed arrives as Ross is polishing his shoes. Ed says the
guests are arriving & asks if Ross has heard from brother Justin. Ross
says sadly that Justin sent a telegram from some remote part of India. He
adds that Ed was right about Vanessa: "If I were being publicly flogged,
she might deign to put in an appearance." He's also sad because Dinah
canceled at the last minute. He recounts his recent conversations with
both Vanessa & Holly. "The more I thought about that, the more I think we
should just stop everything & have a good stiff drink," says Ross.
"Sounds good to me; I could use one," says Ed with a smile. Ross realizes
he's talking to an alcoholic & apologizes profusely for his
insensitivity, but Ed is really not offended. As Ross dresses, Ed gives
the Best Man Speech. He tells Ross he should forget about the things he
can't change & concentrate on getting married & the rest of his life with
Blake. "You are Ross the lucky groom, who on this day the fates have
marked to marry an incredible, intelligent, carefree, beautiful woman.
And she loves you." He hands Ross his bowtie & advises that they get the
show on the road.

COURTHOUSE: Holding the gift out in front of her, Blake walks through the
milling guests & as she announces loudly, "I don't mean to alarm anyone,
but I have reason to believe that there is a bomb in this package."
People make way for her as they see she is serious. She heads up the
stairs towards the door, Tangie following her worriedly.

Jenna & Cutter arrive & she thanks him for bringing her & jokes about
what it will do for his reputation. He sees the crowd & pushes through.
David tells him about the potential bomb. He heads toward Blake, who is
telling Tangie that if it's not a bomb, it's poisonous or a snake or some
such. Tangie is disbelieving. Cutter pulls T aside as Rog & Holly arrive
& are told there's a bomb. They rush up to Blake as she explains to
Cutter that the package is "from a man who went to prison because of me--
Alan Spaulding. He tried to kill me with a bomb at another one of my
weddings." Cutter instructs the crowd to leave the room & tells Blake to
calmly set the package down. As she's about to do so, a couple walks in &
the woman, oblivious to the potential danger, holds out her arms to greet
Blake. Blake, concerned for the couple's safety, quickly turns away from
them & loses her balance on the stairs.. The package goes flying from her
hands & Cutter grabs her & pulls her away from it as the crowd gasps. The
package lands with a thump & begins to chime. Cutter picks it up,
listens, & hands it to Blake: "It's still working. Your Mr. Spaulding is
quite a kidder." Roger leads the shaken Blake away.

Jenna stands alone & sees Buzz & Nadine walk by with laden trays,
laughing among themselves.

Upstairs, Blake makes a face at her hair (now blown straight & pulled up)
& sits down to do her makeup. There's a knock at the door & she opens it
to another Spaulding gift, with Alan-Michael holding it. She laughs &
tells him how she just made a fool out of herself over Alan's gift. AM is
surprised to hear that Alan sent anything. Blake goes behind a screen to
change as she retells the tale. "Scared the hell out of me," she
comments. "My father has that effect on people," acknowledges AM. "It was
a clock. A very nice clock. But you know how it is with me & Alan &
bombs." [ROTFL] She knows Alan is still behind bars & wonders if he was
"pulling my chain" or just making a nice gesture. "I wish I knew,"
answers the son. AM says he only sees his father twice a year & they talk
about financial reports, the trade deficit & the stock market.

AM says he snuck in the back so he could deliver his gift without
upsetting Ross & to wish her good luck, etc. He's proud of her for
"reinventing herself." He's tried to do it too, but is not sure how well
he's succeeded. Blake sees this as a reference to Eleni & divines Eleni's
catering the wedding might be another reason AM showed up.

Downstairs, Eleni supervises, Buzz pours drinks, & Jenna watches, half-
hidden by a potted plant. Bridget & Dylan arrive, she in a bright red
dress, & they opine that the courthouse is a fitting place for Ross's
wedding. Jet figures Dylan should be married in a hardhat & workboots. In
a construction worker's "dumb" voice, he jokingly asks her to marry him,
then Jet sobers up. She makes small talk & wishes Ross & Van could get
along better now that the case is over, but Dylan says it's more than
that. He asks if Jet is upset that he was going to marry Julie, since she
got so uncomfortable all of a sudden. Jet says she didn't know if it was
a sensitive subject for Dylan & didn't want to appear insensitive. He
says Julie is in the past & it's over for him, "like Hart is over for
you." "Oh yeah, like Hart," agrees Bridget tentatively. Sid & Gilly
approach & Sid says he admires Bridget's gutsiness for working out the
deal with Vanessa. "I have a lot of admiration for you," he finishes.
"I'm sorry I can't say the same thing for you, Mr. Dickerson," Jet
replies snottily. Dylan nudges her. Sid says it may look good on paper
but doesn't think it will be so easy. "So you would have preferred it if
there had been a winner and a loser?" asks Jet. Sid reiterates that he
just doesn't think it'll be easy & sincerely wishes her luck.

Ross & Ed arrive to applause. Ed promises that the minister will be
there. "Or maybe he kept right on going when he saw the police," says
Ross. Ed tries to calm him down, but Ross has obviously already heard
about the "bomb" & considers any gift from Alan "an act of terrorism." He
says he had them take it away. "It was a clock, Ross. A clock," says Ed,
trying to get Ross to lighten up. "What do you think it means?" asks Ross
in dead earnestness. Ed won't try to psychoanalyze Alan. Eve & Michelle
(Springfield's oldest flower girl) arrive & greet the men. Jet joins the
group & oohs over M's dress.

Jet takes M away & expresses pride that M is dealing with Eve. M says
it's none of her business, & adds that Eve expresses genuine interest in
her science class. Jet says it means Eve is really trying. M says she
tries too hard, but it's not the worst thing that could happen.

Rog happens upon Jenna & wonders who invited her. Jenna grabs Cutter
possesively. "Well, don't steal anything," cautions Rog, then moves on.
Jenna downs a glass of champagne. Cutter goes to the bar to get her
another. Buzz sees Jenna & walks out from behind the bar & right past
her. Jenna heads after him, but Nadine tries to stop her. Jenna will have
her way & heads after Buzz while Nadine sulks.

Ross & Ed make their way through the crowd, Ross still pondering Alan's
motives. They spy the minister & Ross is relieved. The minister asks if
he missed anything exciting. "No," Ed assures him.

Alex arrives & immediately pounces on Rog, teasing him about Ross soon
calling him "Dad." Rog comes right back at her: "Not nearly as wonderful
as Mindy calling you Mom." Stalemate. Fletch pulls Alex away before she
can extend her claws. She tells him how well her talk with Nick went.
Fletch warns her that she should leave her angle-playing at the office &
just have fun in real life. He says no one will try to take it all away
from her. She says that hasn't been her experience. Fletch hugs her &
locks eyes with an amused Rog over her shoulder.

Tangie & Cutter chit-chat; Tangie thinks he's a hero & he's pleased that
he impressed her. T asks about Jenna; Cutter explains that he was just
her "ticket in." Cutter asks about her job; T says it's going "maybe a
bit too well."

Jet pulls Ed aside to talk about Eve & Michelle. She urges Ed to be
patient with Michelle & emphasizes that M is trying to deal with Eve, but
is afraid of Eve trying to take her mom's place. Ed says there "so far
off" from that, but Jet urges him to take it into consideration.

Holly helps Blake get ready, speaking words of encouragement. Blake says
her mom was instrumental in her turn-around & thanks Holly for not giving
up on her. Tearfully she tells her mother how happy she is that Holly is
there. Tangie arrives with the veil & reassures them that everything has
settled down. Tangie asks Holly why she's making what Fletcher calls an
"outrageously high" salary. Holly says T should talk to Roger about it.
He arrives, in a panic. "Where's Chrissy?!" She's right there. "Where's
your dress? Get your dress on! We have a wedding!" Perfect father of the
bride. Nice going, Rog!

The harpist plays the Wedding March as the minister stands in front of
the crowd & two attendants lay out the white runner. Everone watches in
anticipation. Even Lillian has made an appearance. Holly looks around &
Rog asks who she's looking for. "I'm just making sure everybody's here,"
she says. Tangie makes some final adjustments to Blake's dress & veil as
Blake worries about the predicted stranger from her past who is supposed
to show up. She & Tangie agree they don't need any more surprises.

In the room with the cake, Jenna begs for 2 minutes of Buzz's time. "When
was the last time you wore one of those?" she asks. Buzz isn't interested
in playing games, so she cuts to the chase. Cutter told her Buzz was
wearing a tux the night they were supposed to elope. Buzz says what's the
difference, since she didn't show. "I did," she insists. "I was here."
Buzz does a double-take.

Holly preps the troops. First Michelle, then Tangie, then Blake. Rog says
she's more nervous than the bride. Holly catches someone's eye & smiles.
Rog turns to look & blanches. Blake pokes her head between her parents.
"I don't believe it," she whispers in amazement. All three stare at the
surprise guest as the screen fades to black.

[They didn't show the face, but it just *has* to be Adam Thorpe.]
